Pizza mostly burned, even though specifically told them not to burn it. Eating burned pizza makes you Cancer!!. This is about health and place should be more careful next time.

Nice little restaurant right next to Rothenburg ob der Tauber Airport. Rather inconspicuous, we were about to leave, as there's only one sign at the parking lot and unfortunately no other at the restaurant itself (maybe they could put one up again ;) The food itself was good, and the portion sizes were absolutely sufficient. The value for money is also good, and the service was very friendly and helpful. A small downside, but really only a very small one, was that there were only two of us, and the food arrived at our tables at different times despite a total of five guests. Otherwise, highly recommended!

As locals, we've been there many times. Unfortunately, the quality of service and food has declined significantly. After today's experience, we'll probably be there for the last time. We ordered pizza. After waiting almost an hour for the pizza, we were served two burnt pizzas that had been sitting on the counter for 15 minutes. One of them was already cold and missing two toppings. Another pizza was also missing one topping. When we complained about the burnt pizzas, the red-haired waitress simply replied, "That's just how it is with a wood-fired oven." Two other pizzas at the table, however, weren't burnt... So while we were trimming off the burnt part of one of the pizzas, we discovered that not only the entire crust of the calzone was jet black, but also the top. The burnt part had simply been covered with the sauce. We complained again, this time to a different waitress. She told us we should have mentioned it directly before we started eating. So we pointed out that we had already done so, but the colleague hadn't done anything. After further discussion, we were offered a new pizza. There was no apology. We weren't served any further, didn't receive any more drinks, and only after repeated requests were we charged. Good service doesn't look like good food, and unfortunately, neither does good food...

Always very busy, this restaurant is located right next to a small recreational airport. The pizza is really great, but unfortunately, due to the usually large number of customers, there are somewhat longer wait times for the food. Highly recommended nonetheless.

The best pizzeria in the Rothenburg area and beyond. Pizzas from the wood-fired oven, with a large diameter and plenty of high-quality toppings, offer excellent value for money. The staff is friendly and competent. The location is uniquely beautiful, especially in summer. I love visiting and ordering from Trattoria Volare.

I received the wrong drink 3-4 times. Others who ordered after me received the same thing I ordered earlier and correctly. The incorrect drinks were listed on the bill, but the waiter immediately took them away. This wasn't immediately noticeable with a large order, and I had to complain later.

The food and atmosphere at the airport are great, but the waiting time is far too long.

This is the best pizza for miles around. We're always served very quickly and don't have to wait long for our food. We're always happy to come back!

We came here on the recommendation of a friend, what can I say, we weren't disappointed. Extraordinarily delicious pizzas from the wood-fired oven. And if you, like us, only order one pizza (Pizza Andrea), it will be served on two heart-shaped plates. (see photo). Fast and friendly service, pizza arrived in less than a quarter of an hour. We only know this from our favorite Italian restaurant in the Allgäu. Desserts are very good. The price-performance ratio is very good. We can only recommend it. There is also a nice terrace and a small playground. TOP.

Great, delicious pizza. Very good value for money. The seating is very nice, right on the edge of the airport. But don't worry, we're not taking off any more planes. Overall, it's a bit out of the way, so only accessible by car, but it's a really good tip.

Located right next to the runway of a small airfield for small aircraft. Very nice views. Delicious food and a high number of passengers testify to this being a real insider tip among pilots.

Probably my favorite pizza in my region. It is always a delicious and look forward to my next trip there.

I ordered pizzas here on 5/1/25. As I was looking forward to the meal, I was shocked to discover at home that there was a metal screw in the middle of the pizza - yes, you read that right, a METAL SCREW. When I called the pizzeria to ask why there was a screw on my food, I was made out to be a liar - I had put the screw on the pizza myself. After another call and conversation with the boss, which didn't get me anywhere, I drove to the pizzeria again. Once there, the matter was dismissed as a triviality. One of the employees took the screw and threw it in the corner. When the boss came, of course there was no screw to be found. Again everything was dismissed as it could happen that a screw would be left on the pizza (I and everyone I've already told have a different opinion). The statement that the screw came from cleaning the oven shocked me even more! It was also suggested to me that I could have simply removed the screw and then eaten the pizza (well, I shouldn't do that). When I asked about compensation I was simply laughed at and told by the boss that I could drink a Coke. Another employee then prepared a new pizza for me. When I received the compensation, the boss made it clear to me that I should take my pizza and leave. Up until this point we had enjoyed being customers at this pizzeria, but after this incident neither I nor my family will set foot in this pizzeria again. It is a disgrace not to even apologize, but to portray the customer as a liar, to laugh at him and then to throw him out of the pizzeria in a very unfriendly manner. As a customer you should at least get an apology! If I could, I wouldn't give a star

On the recommendation of West Old Ranch, we ordered pizzas to take away. The pizzas were prepared super quickly and all the ingredients were very fresh. Very tasty, very fresh and everyone was very friendly. Price - performance, perfect. Highly recommended.

I've been coming here once a year for more than 10 years now. Very tasty and good food at reasonable prices. Nice, friendly and fast service. Courteous boss. Just always beautiful. Was here again on April 26th, 2025 as part of the ASC-Ansbach automobile slalom and dined like a prince for around €20. Prices still great. Even though the store was very full and the staff were at their limit, they were still super friendly. Thank you for the lovely evening.

We reserved a table for 10 people the day before, when we arrived we were told that they apparently haven't made reservations for 16 years. We were told that nothing was available and were indirectly told to leave, when the table became available we decided to sit in (a mistake) we waited almost 2 hours for our food! We then wanted to pay but the waitress simply said she didn't want to discuss it and that the food would come soon and after a few minutes the pizza finally came. Unfortunately the pizza was completely white on top and the bottom was burnt. We actually always enjoyed coming here, but now we'll probably never come back!

Amazing food experience, Trattoria Volare has the best compromise among Meals and prices. The quality of pizza, fish, pasta, meat and vegetables are excellent, wood oven ... exceptional and well-leavened pizza dough, outstanding ingredients from Calabria Italy. I strongly suggest, if you are around Rothenburg ob der Tauber, to go and enjoy the food experience.

Specially flown to Rothenburg, according to the Internet it was open on November 30th, and the door was closed. We won't be coming back.

Extremely warm staff. Child friendly. The pizza was fantastic. It's small, so reserve in advance. You have to drive a bit, but definitely worth a visit.

The pizzas were really good and large, the crust wasn't too flat, just right for my taste. Food also came quite quickly. The service wasn't good. Listless, no joy, I'm just here because I have to. We had to wait until someone took pity on coming to our table to bring the cards. Listlessly laid down and gone. Drinks and food were then taken by someone else, which is OK, he at least showed some joy. I work in service myself and can't understand that, you have to like this job otherwise you might as well do something else. A customer notices immediately when a service person is not interested. I can recommend the food, but not the service. Service instead of 1 star, two because someone felt like it.

Wir haben im Volare angerufen und gefragt, wie lange es etwas zu essen gibt. Bis 21:00 Uhr, heute würden sie aber länger die Küche offen haben. Wir sagten zu, dass wir kommen, es aber vor 21:30uhr nicht schaffen werden. Dies wäre kein Problem, hieß es. Wir kamen nach 25 km Fahrt um 21:35 Uhr an. Bestellten unsere Getränke. Wir bekamen mit, wie der Pizzabäcker (ist wohl der Chef) mit dem Kellner anfängt zu diskutieren, dass er den Ofen schon ausgemacht hat. Der Kellner ihm sagte, dass er mitgeteilt hätte, dass nochmals Gäste etwas später zum Essen kommen würden. Plötzlich stand der Pizzabäcker bei uns und sagte uns im forschen Ton „Pizza gibts keine mehr“. Wir sagten, dass wir extra angerufen hatten und uns zugesagt wurde. Pizzabäcker aggressiv: „ Wir sollten Respekt haben“. Wir sind gegangen, bevor die Getränke kamen. So etwas haben wir noch nicht erlebt! Hierher kommen wir bestimmt NIE WIEDER!!!

When we sat at a table in the restaurant, we were rudely told that it was reserved (there was no sign on the table, so we couldn't know). We then ordered and suddenly the music in the restaurant was turned up so loud that we couldn't even hold a conversation. I have nothing against music but since you're in a pizzeria and not a disco or a beer tent, it was just over the top. And since we had our little daughter with us, we had to "move" outside without further ado. Of course, very complicated with a small child. Pizza was good, base slightly burnt but that can happen. The only plus points are the playground at the restaurant and the good parking facilities. If we had ordered the pizza to take away and eaten it in the car, we would have had a more pleasant atmosphere. Too bad!

The pizzas are simply uniquely good! As we all know, pictures speak more than 1000 words! 😃 Only the service can be improved! Very slow, not very attentive service. That's why there are long waiting times if you want to reorder drinks or pay. Ambience inside is good and quaint. The beer garden at the airport is also very nice. You can easily watch the planes taking off and landing. Overall 4 out of 5 stars.

With one of the best pizzas outside of Italy😋 Service very accommodating, there is always something to see due to the air traffic and ideal with children as there is a playground and a small football pitch, even in the shade. Pasta is the next thing we have to try, so far we haven't had the heart not to order pizza 😅

Very tasty and inexpensive food. Freshly baked from the stone oven. My wife's calzone was super good and huge on a pizza plate, it stood almost 10 cm over the edge of the plate on each side.

There's only one thing to say: The sheer madness! Admittedly, the pizzeria is very out of the way and the navigation system had problems. Once you arrive, the restaurant makes up for everything. We went there for lunch on a Tuesday. The place was almost empty and completely to ourselves. The Capriciosa salad we ordered was huge and delicious. Prices are moderate. A great view on the terrace. A real insider tip!!

When the weather is nice, sitting outside with a view of the children in the playground there is relaxing in itself. The food is good and plentiful. The prices are absolutely fine. I eat by far the best pizza there but as we all know, that's a matter of taste. It's definitely worth a visit, in my case even more often.

Good pizzeria, and you can watch the planes take off and land from the beer garden while you're there. Parachutists were also out and about when we were there.

As expected, the food is clearly Italian, with a large selection of different dishes. The price-performance ratio is reasonable. If you are looking for good pizza, etc. just outside of Rothenburg, Trattoria Volare is the right place.

A somewhat unusual pizzeria, right next to a small sports airfield. There are always skydivers here. Suitable for families as there is a small playground outside for the children. The service is very nice and authentic. Everything we have ordered so far has been very tasty. We will be back.

In summer it is certainly fantastic to be able to eat a pizza right on the runway and sit in the beer garden, which is often overcrowded on weekends. If you're lucky, the food is to die for and you also get the drink you ordered. If you're unlucky, you can have an argument with the arrogant boss, e.g. if a calzone isn't fully baked, then sits at the counter for another 15 minutes and is then poured over with ice-cold tomato sauce. Then they quickly say succinctly: “The pizza came out of the oven hot.” If you don't like Gutmann Hefeweizen and order a Tucher Hefeweizen, you have to be careful, a Gutmann is coming. Unfortunately, I can't tolerate Gutmann Hefeweizen, so I recognize that straight away. If you then complain, you have to expect endless discussions with the boss and it can happen that the Gutmann Hefeweizen is poured into a Tucher glass and served again stale. After you complain again and return the stale drink, you are happily left sitting without a drink. All in all, if you're not a Tucher Hefeweizen drinker, have Italian arrogance, see constructive criticism as an insult and not as an incentive for possible improvements, get along well and like cold pizza every now and then, you can spend a nice afternoon there. For my part, I will avoid this establishment in the future. The staff is generally friendly and accommodating.

It takes over 50 minutes to get the food, went once and I don't think I'll ever go there again. Far too few staff, the kitchen is apparently only occupied by one person, but it was sad.

Ich war am Do 31.08.2023 da Der Service gerade von Marcello, war sehr zuvorkommend, er ist auf extra wünsche freundlich eingegangen. Der Holz Pizzaofen ist natürlich der Hingucker. Am Ambiente drumherum, die Zuwegung, Zäune müssten mal Instand gesetzt werden. Ansonsten merkt man, es ist, La famiglia

Wir waren zu sechst und hatten alle wunderbares Essen! Draussen kann man super sitzen und es ist sehr kinderfreundlich. Alle sind sehr nett und sehr bemüht. Tolles scharfes Öl. Eigentlich ein Geheimtipp!

Ein richtig guter Geheim TIP unserer Pension Unterkunft „Zur Neuen Welt - Steinsfeld“. Das Restaurant liegt ein wenig abseits an einem Flugplatz. Haben kurzfristig ohne Reservierung heute ein Tisch für 3 Personen bekommen. Das Essen dort ist mega lecker. Wir können es zu 100% weiter empfehlen.

Ein Geheimtip und man sollte reservieren. Der Biergarten liegt am Start und Landeplatz mit einem großen Spielplatz. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich. Ich hatte eine Pizza und der Teig ist ein Traum. Selten so eine gute Pizza gegessen. Der Teig wird vom Koch selbst zubereitet, habe extra gefragt. So wie der schmeckt, bekommt er auch Zeit. Wenn man die Location nicht kennt, fährt man vorbei. Ist halt an einem Flughafen im Niergendwo. Mit dem Auto von Rothenburg in ein paar Minuten gut zu erreichen. Preis Leistung Top. Für die Qualität könnte man auch mehr verlangen. Übrigens, es gibt dort auch Pizza bianco, also ohne Tomatensauce, macht auch nicht jeder.
