Restaurant Malakow in Essen

Rarely have I been so disappointed, great weather, the terrace is currently being built, there are enough staff, but no one is able to sell me a fresh Stauder! Very bad service! What's even worse is not admitting the mistake and apologizing! It was 7 p.m., your restaurant was open, four tables were occupied inside, two people were sitting at two tables outside with freshly tapped beers in front of them. Their very young and noticeably insecure employee behind the bar told me he had already gotten in trouble because he had sold something to the people sitting outside and they were now in the way of the staff setting up. I then assured him that I would stand around the corner, wouldn't be in anyone's way and would even be willing to leave a deposit for the glass. But he was so intimidated that he didn't want to get involved in anything. Honestly, you don't even deserve one star for this reaction to the comment!

The food was very tasty and the service was super friendly and attentive :). We had the penne arrabiater and the gnocchi with oyster mushrooms as a vegetarian dish. Highly recommended, we will be back.

We were at the New Year's Eve Party 2024 in the restaurant and in the rooms of the Zeche Carl. The 4-course menu was delicious, all the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The music mix was great and the (unfortunately necessary) security always gave us an absolutely safe feeling and was pleasantly discreet. We will be there again next time!

What is particularly worth mentioning is that there is really something on the menu for everyone. The vegan dishes are also really delicious!

Four of us were at the Malakow Restaurant, very close to the Carl Zeche in Essen, and it was a thoroughly enjoyable evening. For the main course I chose the salad of the day with Camembert and ham - an original and tasty choice. I also ordered the classic bruschetta, which was a real highlight with its freshness and intense flavors. Of course, a freshly tapped Stauder couldn't be missed - traditional and perfect for the Ruhr area atmosphere. After years in which I was rather disappointed with the regional gastronomy, Malakow surprised me positively and showed that the Ruhr area certainly offers quality. The staff were friendly, attentive and knowledgeable - the daily menu was presented to us in full and with enthusiasm from memory. Particularly worth mentioning is the homemade iced tea, which was not tried by me but by one of my companions and was praised as exceptionally tasty. Here freshly brewed tea is prepared with love and refined in a sophisticated way. The surroundings and ambience are also impressive: there are enough parking spaces, even when events are taking place in the Carl Zeche. The quiet, pleasant atmosphere in the restaurant invites you to linger, and details such as disinfectant dispensers at entrances and exits show that attention is paid to even the smallest details. The portions are generous, the prices are fair, and I really hope that Malakow can maintain this quality in the long term. It was a successful evening and I'm looking forward to coming back soon - perhaps in conjunction with a visit to the Carl Zeche!

Small but fine menu - especially for schnitzel friends - antipasti plate is recommended - we will be back

Great gastronomy, we have been coming regularly with 8 people for years THURSDAYS for dinner. We wouldn't do that if our demands were more than met in every respect. Erkan and his girls are simply great.

Very nice here. Yummy. If there isn't much going on, you can fly out of here earlier. So nothing for a long evening. Most of the time there is little going on here in the evenings.

Leider ist das früher hier ansaessige Lokal einem arroganten Yuppistyle mit unverschaemtem Personal gewichen. Es gab viele freie Tische die angeblich alle reserviert waren. Man solle warten. Nach einer halben Stunde waren die Tische immer noch leer und wir sind gegangen weil der Kellner nach Anfrage ziemlich patzig wurde. Merkwürdiges Geschaeftsmodell dem man das Scheitern nur wünschen kann.

In contrast to the fast food chains, you can get something decent here for the same price. Ambiance is incredibly inviting and the waitresses are simply bomb.

Cozy restaurant, small menu but still something for everyone. The burger, schnitzel and wraps were super delicious. 👍 Only the glasses for the Coke (flat and wide, look like tea lights) are not so practical. 😊 We will definitely come back and look forward to the beer garden!

Nice service, delicious food. Prices are ok. Some of the tables are in cold and drafty areas.

Wir haben hier sehr gut gespeist. Die Bruschetta, wahlweise mit Feta, war sehr gut abgeschmeckt und eine gute Wahl zum Einstieg. Als Hauptgerichte hatten wir einen sehr saftigen Burger mit frischen Kartoffelchips, Duroc Schwein im Speckmantel, Butterzart. Und Schnitzel in Pfeffer Rahmsoße. Alles sehr gut präsentiert, fein abgeschmeckt und lecker. Zum Abschluss Tiramisu mit frischen Früchten. Ein Genuss! Der Service ist nett und effektiv. Das Preis Leistungsverhältnis stimmt. Gern wieder!

Very tasty, down-to-earth food. The bruschetta was very tasty. Optionally with feta. The burger was very juicy, the Duroc pork wrapped in bacon was excellent and buttery tender. And the schnitzel in pepper cream sauce was also delicious. As we all know, tiramisu always works. Served with fresh fruit, very tasty. The service was nice and efficient. Good price-performance ratio.

Punktabzug für die Atmosphäre und die harten Stühle, Personal freundlich doch leider zu wenig daher kein guter Service. Essen war super.

Das Essen und die Bedienung waren super. Aber die Bestuhlung war sehr ungemütlich kalte Plastikstühle in denen man sich nicht wohlfühlen kann. Die passen einfach nicht in das Lokal.

Donnerstag ist Schnitzeltag!!! Lecker!!! Sehr zu empfehlen!!!

Das Essen war super. Das Personal sehr gestresst, leider. Draußen sitzen war trotz gutem Wetter nicht möglich weil der Herr die Ketten der Stühle nicht losmachen wollte 😕😕

Speisekarte könnte mal was neues bieten. Seit Jahren gleich. Essen schmeckt gut, vor allem Schnitzel und co. Service ist sehr gut. Grosse Portionen.

leckeres Essen. Leider keine Auswahl für Kinder. Diese können aus der Karte wählen und bekommen eine kleine Portion. Aber die Gerichte sind in der Kombination nicht unbedingt das, was Kinder mögen.

Kann man nur weiter empfehlen, einfach Top. Die Kellnerinnen sind auch sehr nett.

Vorweg,... die junge Mitarbeiterin, die uns bedient hat, war einfach toll, sehr freundlich, sehr professionell, fröhlich und hilfsbereit 👍👍👍👍👍👍 Wir waren zu 4. im Malakow, zum Abendessen. Die Vorspeisen, Bruschetta, sehr 😋 😋 😋 Auch die Hauptgerichte, z. B. Schnitzel, einfach lecker. Bei den Getränken gab es ein kleines Problem, wurde aber sehr gut und problemlos von der Servicekraft geklärt. Klare Empfehlung Parkplätze sind genügend vorhanden Eingang ebenerdig

Ich fand 13,80 für zwei Getränke und einmal Nachos mit Käse AEG happig.

Food was fantastic quality. I had schnitzel and the children had the burgers. All very fresh and very tasty. Also great value for money.

Kleine aber absolut ausreichende Karte. Sehr gutes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis und nettes Personal. Im Sommer eine sehr schöne Terrasse zum draußen sitzen.

Das Essen war sehr lecker, die Servicekräfte super nett und aufmerksam. Die Idee, die Wartezeit vor einem Konzert in netter Atmosphäre zu überbrücken, haben aber auch andere, also vorher besser reservieren. 😊

Nettes kleines Restaurant am Veranstaltungsort Zeche Carl. Das Essen (ich hatte die veganen Tagliatelle mit Walnuss und Blumenkohl in Sojasauce) hat mir sehr geschmeckt. :)
