When I occasionally return to Linz for work, I like to stop here for dinner with colleagues or alone. A relatively quiet location for the Rhine Valley, friendly service, and good food.

We received very friendly service. The food was very simple but delicious. Highly recommended.

I had the grilled beef steak and was absolutely thrilled! The meat was perfectly grilled, juicy, and cooked to perfection. You can immediately taste the quality. The side dishes were also fresh and delicious, and the service was friendly and attentive. Highly recommended – I'd love to come back!

I'm sooooo sorry that there's simply no support for the waitresses, who really give their all. Always friendly and so hardworking. The food is really, really great. Please be patient if it takes a little longer; everyone there really gives their all!

I've been a guest at this restaurant for many years and go there for lunch practically every day during my holidays. The dishes on offer are all delicious and fresh. The service is attentive and patient with requests for changes, even during busy times. When things get particularly busy, such as a tour boat docking or a bus tour group arriving, you can pass the time with a cool, freshly tapped Kölsch beer. On warm days, the outdoor seating is lovely, and when it gets a bit cooler, you can find a spot inside the restaurant's attractive interior.

Very tasty food at fair prices. We had the beef steak with fried potatoes, chanterelle mushrooms, and beans. The very friendly waitress brought us generously filled plates of perfectly cooked steaks. Everything was delicious, and the price/performance ratio is excellent. You'd be surprised how they manage to make a profit like that. An absolute recommendation, and we'd be happy to come back.

If you have time, you'll get something to eat here at some point. I only saw one employee. She took orders and served food, poured drinks, washed glasses, and probably even cooked herself. She was pretty overwhelmed, and the place wasn't full. The food we ordered—paprika schnitzel and beef liver—was good. Nothing you'd talk about for days, but not bad either. The bitter aftertaste came the next day when I looked at the receipt. Since the amount paid seemed a bit high to me, there was no drinks menu, and I drank three large ones, I explained it away. But that wasn't it; the bill listed beef steak and salmon, which we unfortunately didn't have.

It was already very busy at lunch. Thanks to friendly service, the food arrived relatively quickly. The quality was very good. We had saumagen (sausage) with fried potatoes and schnitzel with asparagus. Everything was perfect and tasty. The beer was well chilled, and payment was quick. We went there on the recommendation of the manager of Cafe Leber across the street and have no regrets. Just go. Updated June 2025 The owner hasn't learned anything. You still wait forever for your food, which then arrives every 20 minutes for two people. Impossible. One person at a table is always waiting for their food while the other is already finished. Guys, this is not good service. Even the waitress's smile doesn't help.

The waitress was very friendly and nice—that was about it. The meal was a schnitzel with paprika sauce, salad, and French fries. The fries were reasonably okay, which—like the schnitzel, was oversalted—is generally done to boost drink sales. Unfortunately, you had to hunt for the pieces of bell pepper in the paprika sauce. I complained about the first portion because it was clearly too salty; my question as to whether the sauce could be made less salty was answered negatively—again, a hint of a possible ready-made sauce. I then ordered another schnitzel, this time with mushroom sauce—and the sauce was also very salty. Since they didn't want to change the flavor of the sauce even after asking, the suspicion of a ready-made sauce is confirmed. The side salad was also quite salty and far from pleasantly fresh. The route to the restroom was hampered by dishes stored in the entrance; I dare not make any further assumptions regarding hygiene.

Very tasty, good food. The location is great, and the staff/service was very friendly and welcoming. The prices are perfectly reasonable for the portions. We'll definitely be back, just for the friendliness of the staff ;)

It took just two hours to eat a schnitzel. Two employees for the entire restaurant (counter and service) with a huge rush on Father's Day. Father's Day must have come as a surprise. Completely overwhelmed, the salad that comes with the dish isn't brought until half the food is eaten. The desired ketchup has to be requested four times! Then, finally, a plastic bottle is slammed down on the table. NEVER AGAIN TO THIS "RESTAURANT"

We ate there three times during our vacation, and each time it was a great experience: warm, friendly service and delicious food. We'd be happy to go back.

The restaurant impresses with its pleasant and cozy ambiance, which in our case was particularly suitable for a small Christmas party. The table directly by the open fireplace creates a very inviting and warm atmosphere that invites you to linger. The home-style cooking is solid and decent, but without being particularly outstanding. The focus here is more on down-to-earth and classic dishes. The friendly and authentic service, whose warm manner enhanced the evening, is particularly noteworthy. As a nice touch, a glass of fruit brandy was offered on the house at the end, which rounded off the evening pleasantly. Overall, a recommended address for anyone looking for a relaxing time.

We arrived there by chance relatively late in the evening and were given a delicious warm dinner upon request. We were greeted and served in a very friendly manner. Price performance great. It was beautifully decorated for Christmas, but it was pretty cold inside. Maybe the heater was broken. We would still go there again because it simply exudes coziness.

What more could you want? We are served very kindly by a very nice lady. The food, in my case the pike perch fillet and in my wife's case the beef schnitzel, was very, very tasty. We can highly recommend it.

I had the dish of the day (cheese spaetzle, mushrooms, pork fillet) The food is OK. The meat was good, but the cheese spaetzle was quite drier, simply baked with cheese. The salad was a bit drowned in sauce. But overall it's okay.

Food cold, not customer friendly and no insight. Had dinner today with 4 people. Käsespätzle were spaetzle baked with a slice of Gouda cheese. Liver and meat was okay. Unfortunately the fried potatoes were ice cold. When I asked the waitress about it, she made the following statement: Maybe, a lot of stress. No apology or anything. Drinks were forgotten, as well as a sauce. No deduction on the invoice. After a discussion, €5 deduction. Can't recommend the restaurant.

We ate here during a short vacation. The food was very tasty, the portions were large, the service was excellent and the restaurant owner was extremely friendly, even taking the time to have a nice conversation with the guests. A service worker at the weekend wine festival. Huge respect for this woman. We were there with a group of 10 people and the place was full. Nevertheless, she brought the orders (including special requests) to our table correctly and quickly without writing them down. The food was super tasty and also reasonably priced. Great restaurant. Update: I was there again this time and wanted to do something good for my friends. But far from it... Waited a total of 1.5 hours for the food...we spoke to the waitress and were told that it would be ready soon...nothing happened...waited another 30 minutes...sorry...but it doesn't work that way... The food wasn't really tasty either...beef fillets were cooked to death...Leather says hello...fried potatoes partly raw and the salad was really simply prepared...a bit of iceberg, a few slices of cucumber...a bit of carrot strips... .egg. half a tablespoon of corn... and lots of yoghurt dressing... the latter was just too much... the salad, which was in short supply anyway, was drowned in it... I know it's not the waiter's fault, but the chef should certainly have more experience... We would have gotten the food faster and better in a snack bar... The poor waitress was totally overwhelmed. No wonder. Completely alone and yet managed everything in a friendly manner.

Better canteen or snack bar with totally overwhelmed service staff Yesterday we had dinner in this restaurant with four people. In advance, if we hadn't been so hungry and/or had another alternative, we would have gotten up and left again. We ordered them 1 x plaice fillet “Finkenwerder style” breaded, baked until golden brown with fried potatoes and salad 1 x Jägerschnitzel with French fries and salad 2 x “Homemade” brawn with fried potatoes and salad It was all frozen goods, the side dishes were homemade salads and maybe the fried potatoes. The “homemade” brawn described on the menu tasted like the one from LIDL and looked like it too. The absolute hammer was the remoulade sauce that was added to it. It bordered on “assault”! The plaice fillet and the Jägerschnitzel also looked like canteen food. My questions about the taste and quality were answered with “a lot of room for improvement”. That about the quality of the food! “Hunger got to us” and we survived. But what really pissed us all off was the waiting time. We and the guests at the neighboring table noticed that guests who came after us got their food (including schnitzel with fries) before us with “violent growling”. In total, it took 1.5 hours from the order to the “first” serving of the Jägerschnitzel. The whole procedure finally took 2 hours. The waitress was unable to serve the food together. Even the salads only came to the table after the Jägerschnitzel had already been eaten. The reason for this was probably the completely overwhelmed staff. The restaurant and the outdoor terrace were completely full due to the beautiful weather and the wine festival taking place at the same time. This situation also demonstrated the sometimes “unfriendly” nature of the service. Even if it wasn't meant to be, we could understand it. All in all, this was an experience that no one needs. We will definitely give the “Restaurant Am Strünzerbrunnen” a wide berth.

Even though one chef was unavailable, the food was incredibly tasty. Simply insane. We'll be back.

Had dinner there. Unfortunately the food came too late for our grandson. All the dishes were on the table, only this dish was forgotten. Instead, the guest at the next table received his food, even though he arrived later. An absurdity. The schnitzels were frozen goods. Won't be going there again.

Food really good!! But there were 7 of us. Unfortunately, the dishes came in stages. 3 together, after each 10 minutes another one, the last one, an omelet, felt like it took 45 minutes after the first dish!! Ordered spaetzle for a small child was not brought at all and the second round of drinks was also forgotten. Sorry, but that's weak.

On our motorcycle tour we stopped in Linz for a meal and found the restaurant right at the gate. There were four of us and I ordered vegan once. The food was very tasty for everyone and the price was really good. Had a salad without scampi and chicken breast and was served with fried potatoes. Very tasty and the service was very friendly. We would be happy to offer more vegetarian and vegan dishes.

There were six of us here, everyone had a different dish and every dish tasted great. The staff were all very nice and the price is more than suitable for a tourist place. We will definitely come back, thank you very much.

Yes, what can I say. When we entered the restaurant we were greeted by a very strong smell of burning. Afterwards we noticed that there was probably a fireplace with an open fire in the evenings. We actually wanted to turn around again, but decided to stay because we were very hungry. We went up a spiral staircase to the first floor, where there was a couple sitting besides us. There were 3 tables occupied in the lower area. Ordering drinks went very quickly and was delivered promptly. At the same time we immediately ordered our food and then we had to wait... After 15 minutes we were brought a small salad that was part of the menu. After another 20 minutes I got my food and another 7 minutes later my wife got their food. I had to start if I didn't want my food to get cold. We found it impossible... At least the food tasted good 👍 As we paid, we had a brief conversation with the waitress. She would be all alone and only one cook would prepare the food (Boss himself?). Since the restaurant consists of two levels, she has to bring the drinks from the bottom up and the food from the top down. And there is also an outdoor restaurant. Of course that explains a lot. I really felt sorry for the lady from the service and my anger quickly went away and I gave a decent tip on top. She told me a lot more, but that would go beyond the scope here...

If you come here you won't go wrong. A stylish and fair ambience, an excellent, tasty meal in the historic old town of Linz am Rhein. We've been coming here for years. We are always surprised by the friendliness of this house and the consistent quality of the changing, seasonal dishes. It couldn't be better. Had a very good meal here. It was delicious, the staff was super friendly and it was very cheap. For the food in quality and quantity at a price level like 2019. So it works.... great Recommend this restaurant without hesitation.

Unfortunately not a good visit. The ambience is simple but OK for a restaurant. The service was an absolute disaster. The term service is actually out of place, as the lady only came out when she brought something, otherwise she wasn't visible for sometimes 10 minutes. The waiting time for 2 meals was over 1 hour. The first meal came 10 minutes before the second meal. An absolute no-go. I went into the building to pay, otherwise I would still be sitting there and waiting. The food was also rather weak. The asparagus was clearly overcooked and therefore too soft. The hollondaise from lukul and the potatoes had a light skin because they waited too long on the plate to be served. Unfortunately not more than 2 stars.

The lady from service was very friendly. Ambience a bit old-fashioned and dark. We dined on the ground floor for lunch on Easter Saturday, the food is brought down from the upper floor. That's why it takes a while. Our meat was quite dry but overall the dish was tasty. Toilet quite narrow and old.

Unfortunately, after 15-20 minutes no service came to take the drink order (there was only a menu on the table, but no drinks menu). It's a shame, then we left again.

We were in Linz during the flood. This restaurant was open. The offer included schnitzel with various sauces (jaeger, peppers, onions) and fries. The food was delicious. We didn't see the menu because we decided on the offer. The place is nice and very clean. The service was very good and friendly. When we are back in Linz, we will eat there again. Das Lokal ist ganz nett und zentral gelegen, auch die Gestaltung wirkt hell und freundlich, wenn auch die Toiletten mal einer Sanierung bedürfen. Das Essen war zwar im Haus gemacht, aber nicht hausgemacht. Es bestand zum größten Teil aus Convenience-TK Ware und die Saucen kamen dem Tetrapack bzw. der Flasche. Das Schnitzel wurde mit Hela (?) Gewürzketchup "garniert" und die Scholle war ein längeres Fischstäbchen, was man nun wirklich nicht unter Scholle versteht. Ob es sich bei dem Fisch auch um Scholle handelte, konnte man nicht feststellen. Bessere Imbissbude, aber nicht wirklich Restaurant. Es arbeiten offensichtlich keine ausgebildeten Köche in der Küche. Ok, bei den relativ günstigen Preisen hätte man vorgewarnt sein können.

Essen war sehr gut, das Steak perfekt gebraten, die Schnitzel waren sehr gut und auch der Beilagensalat mit Dressing war sehr lecker. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder.

Sehr leckeres Essen, und eine umfangreiche Speisekarte, aufmerksamer und schneller Service, wir haben einen schönen großen Tisch für 9 Personen (kamen vom Schiff, und keine Vorbestellung) bekommen, und außerhalb der "normalen Essenszeit" (war schon 15.30 an einem Sonntag) wurden wir sehr gut "verpflegt". Besser kann man es nicht mehr antreffen.

Hatte Spargel mit Schnitzel Sauce Hollandaise und Kroketten. Es war sehr 😋 lecker und preislich top im Rahmen dazu ein Alkoholfreies Weizenbier. Preis gesamt 21.50 Euro top komme gerne wieder.

Zu 4 Personen kurzfristig einen Tisch reserviert. Essen wird frisch zubereitet und auf Sonderwünsche eingegangen. Personal sehr freundlich und für meinen Sohn gab es am Schluss noch eine Cola aufs Haus. Sehr empfehlenswert!

Das Essen kam leider nicht für alle Gäste am Tisch gleichzeitig.
