Very friendly staff and fast service. Beautiful interior. The terrace is sheltered from the wind and offers a lovely view of the ferry dock. The food was delicious. Portion sizes were more than generous. All in all, highly recommended.

At first glance, a great spot on the Rhine. At second glance, unfortunately, only moderately enjoyable. They're trying to offer upscale Italian cuisine here, but instead of white cloth napkins, they're using paper napkins. The placemats are laminated. The tablecloth, and at least all the tables around us, are dirty. Dirty with crumbs, red wine stains, and tomato sauce. The pasta from the previous customer was under our table. The restaurant was 30% full, so the mess wasn't due to stress. The online menu was perfect, but in the restaurant itself, it was cobbled together from specially printed A4 sheets in black and white, with some handwritten additions, some with the prices for 2024 on the left and 2025 on the right. The crowning glory: a small black pot of aioli with 4! slices of discount ciabatta. Price: €6.90. Wow... that was painful. You can see some of it in the carpaccio picture in the background on the left and right. The burrata on the pizza was unfortunately barely bigger than a scoop of ice cream, and the taste of the dishes was average. By no means bad, but by no means special or particularly tasty either. The basic framework is in place; now we just need to work on the details, and we'll be up and running.

Today, I visited the former brewery with my wife and child for the first time since La Cucina moved in. For us, it's by far the best pizza in the area. The prices seem a bit high at first glance, but considering the portions, they're definitely justified. The pictures show a Bambini pizza (a children's pizza, the size of the plate... elsewhere, it would be a large adult pizza) and a pizza for adults (larger than the plate). The crust is wonderfully thin and crispy, the toppings fresh and delicious. We only found the prices for the desserts a bit excessive, but we wanted to try it out. You can't even finish the whole pizza, so you still have a good portion for the next day. The service was very attentive, courteous, and friendly. We would definitely be happy to come back. Update 08/19/2025: You can only pay in cash (why on earth?!) We waited half an hour for our drinks; the poor two only servers had to manage the beer garden and the restaurant area by themselves. The lasagna wasn't warm enough, so it went back and came back perfectly heated. The pizza was top-notch, as always. On the terrace, you walk on loose, broken tiles. There was no paper to dry your hands with in the restroom. After being served, we were ignored, and no one asked if we wanted anything else to drink. We ended up paying at the counter because no one else came. Given the prices and the fact that they don't accept card payments (anymore), this was probably our last visit. What a shame.

I've been here several times and always enjoy coming back. The terrace offers a beautiful view of the Rhine – simply perfect for relaxing. 🌅 The food is always wonderful: so far, I've tried steak, pizza, pasta, and soup, and of course, the panna cotta for dessert – everything was fresh, beautifully presented, and delicious! 👌 A place I can absolutely recommend.

Four of us were out on a trip and found a wonderfully well-maintained ambiance. The terrace, with its upstairs and downstairs access to the kitchen, pantry, and restaurant, still has room for improvement. The service and food were wonderful, and the prices were reasonable. Communication between the kitchen and the waitress wasn't quite perfect, so they apologized for this. It didn't meet their own standards. It can happen. Overall, a lovely highlight of a little birthday trip. We'd love to come back when we're in the area.

As Linz residents, we try to eat at La Cucina several times a year. Unfortunately, we experience terrible service every time: a half-hour wait for our order and drinks to be taken, dishes and glasses from previous guests aren't cleared, tables are left dirty, etc. The service staff always seem overwhelmed and inattentive. It seems as if the manager doesn't give them proper training. He doesn't have his "shop" under control and always excuses himself with the excuse of a lack of staff. I think if you pay your staff well, you can keep them. The men's restroom smells terrible. We are very disappointed every time.

The price-to-portion ratio is absolutely fine. The food itself was exceptionally delicious (Insalata Monte Cristo & Penne Al Arrabiata). The menu offers a good selection. The service was extremely attentive and friendly, and we felt excellently looked after. Overall, the restaurant made a perfect impression in terms of hygiene, and the music (Italo-pop) was appropriate, not intrusive, and played at a pleasant volume. I can wholeheartedly recommend La Cucina.

Today, September 3rd, 2024, we were there for lunch....my goodness: absolutely fantastic ambience on a railing above the Rhine....superbly cultured, friendly and attentive staff, great food, sharing is no problem, 1/2 liter of chilled wine in a carafe, reasonable prices...dessert: fantastic tiramisu...beautifully decorated with fresh berries, grated nuts and a mirror of raspberry sauce...unreserved recommendation...chapeau!

Where to begin: Dirty cutlery and unclean seats. But there are a ton of ads in the playlist. The service was really slow and inattentive, and it wasn't even full! The menu says sheep's cheese, which is served from the cow. That doesn't make the food bad, but it's really awful for the price! It was truly disappointing, and that's such a shame!

Aufm Teller war tatsächlich nur und ausschließlich kleines Stück Fleisch das Komplet durch und kalt war. 1 Salat mit Rindfleisch- es war ok. Was absolut nicht ok war- war mein Aperolspritz- es hatte kein Geschmack da so viel Sprudel da drin war. Aperol und Sekt fast nicht vorhanden. Für 8.90 €

A very nice restaurant right on the Rhine with a wonderful view, a large terrace, and a beer garden. The interior also has a very nice atmosphere. The service is super friendly and doesn't get discouraged even when it gets busy. If you have to wait a few minutes longer, it's probably due to a lack of staff, so just relax. The food is delicious and the selection is great, with something for everyone, just like the wine list. It's best to make a reservation in the evening. We would go back anytime; everything was great.

We had planned a family trip to Linz... what could be more natural than going out for a fancy meal? The website and the online menu promised true delights... Unfortunately, the reality was different... the tables outside were covered with white plastic tablecloths and dirty... cutlery was only available in plastic cups... okay, that's bearable... The menu was dirty... very oddly arranged, with some dishes you wouldn't expect to find at a good Italian restaurant... The cutlery was old and not properly polished... the spice grinders (pepper and salt) were good grinders... but with the knuckles on them... Vinegar and oil were served in bottles with labels, and you only got the spice grinders upon request... The terrace overall gave an unkempt impression... there was a lot of trash flying all over the floor... Our dog wasn't even offered water... but we had it with us given the outside temperature... The interior had seen better days, and people said this restaurant had also seen good times... but what was unbearable was the ammonia smell. Restrooms... It's excusable that repair work had to be done during the day... such work has to be done at some point. The waitress was very attentive and friendly, but she didn't know the much-excessive menu... so you ordered using the numbers provided... if you found the dish on the excessively large menu... then the freshness probably goes by the wayside... unfortunately, the waitress was busy inside most of the time... I learned something different as a hotel professional... the station/restaurant/terrace must always be staffed by a member of staff... Please note: only cash payments are accepted... has a strange aftertaste in such a large establishment, if the hotel is part of it... can hotel guests also pay in cash??? Very strange... The waitress uniforms should also be reconsidered... very disadvantageous for the staff... Well, all of this would be somewhat bearable if the drinks were cold and the food were excellent... I'd just like to mention the appetizers... Vitello Tonato... overcooked veal with a tuna paste and!!! Mayonnaise... at least the paste tasted like mayonnaise... and as a garnish, hard-boiled eggs sitting on top of the mush... beef carpaccio... under a pile of Parmesan with a quarter of a lemon... voila, the appetizer is complete... no nice garnish of arugula or anything resembling capers or greens... no oil, with three dollops of balsamic vinegar??? Goat cheese salad, while delicious, if you like dressing, you'll drown in it... no big deal, I like dressing, but not brown, expired lettuce leaves... which simply didn't belong there... also, what's corn doing in there??? Not to mention the honey advertised on the menu... I'll mercifully skip the main courses... So, we were extremely disappointed after the online appearance and, should we ever visit Linz again, we'll give this place a wide berth...

I don't think it's ever been so difficult to write a review. We went there twice during our stay: once for a larger dinner, once for a small lunch. The food was very good, both meals. Pasta, bruschetta, garlic bread, eggplant croquettes - all truly delicious. The staff is mixed; some are very slow and stressed/unfriendly. Others do a truly outstanding job. What bothered us was the cleanliness in some places. It was the glasses and cutlery - but many more tables were very dirty, the seating was heavily stained, etc. Overall, it didn't make a good impression - but still, based on the food, it gets a 3-star rating. More coordination, better attention to cleanliness and behavior, and it would be a great restaurant.

TUESDAY, APPRENTICE DAY?! Four of us went to dinner at La Cucina this evening. I've rarely experienced such TERRIBLE SERVICE. Not only are you not asked for a new drink once in a two-hour stay, even though you're sitting on the terrace in the blazing sun, but you also don't get your food at the same time. Without a word, no one shows up for 20 minutes, and after my whole family had finished eating, my food arrived without an apology or anything. On top of that, waiters and waitresses are milling around on the ceiling, twiddling their thumbs, but they don't even dream of asking if guests would like something new to drink. You pay €95 for that?!?! No thanks!

I was there for Mother's Day with a reservation for five people. Unfortunately, there are organizational deficiencies, namely: too few staff for the beer garden, outdoor, and indoor areas. Consequently, there were really long waits for drinks and food. The food gave the impression of convenience foods rather than freshly prepared food, although of course the long wait had given rise to hope for more. When a waiter then tells me, upon questioning, that 20 guests had already complained about the long wait, that speaks volumes about a lack of organization. I don't blame the hard-working staff.

We hosted a family celebration here with 40 people. Let's start with the positives: The location is very beautiful and located right on the Rhine. The food was really good! The big BUT: The organization, service, and follow-up communication were simply unacceptable. Even the really friendly and dedicated waiter, who did his best to save the situation, couldn't fix it. We had organized everything in advance with a member of staff: individual menus and drinks, drink sizes, decorations, appetizer platters, etc. The organizing staff member fell ill at short notice. It can happen. What shouldn't happen is that everything that was planned in advance isn't passed on to the manager, who has no idea what's going on. Furthermore, for an event that's been announced for more than six months, one would expect the supplier to be ordered well in advance, rather than drinks arriving the day before, only to be missing due to a missed delivery, and then being told there were no large bottles of water, etc. These aren't perishable goods. At least the problem with the large bottles was resolved after a while. Even employing additional staff on a sunny holiday with a large family celebration at the house would have been entirely reasonable. But the biggest imposition was the wait for the food: The quantity of appetizer platters had been agreed upon in advance and, with proper preparation, it wouldn't have taken about 1.5 hours to arrive. The children only received their food first, following our suggestion, and well after the appetizer platters. And to top it all off, it took a good 2.5 hours from ordering the food to serving the dishes!!!!! We arrived around 1:00 PM, had lunch around 4:00 PM, and coffee/cake at 5:30 PM! I'll just mention in passing that several dishes were served incorrectly and had to be reordered, meaning everyone couldn't eat together. The icing on the cake was the boss himself. In response to our truly polite complaint, he told us, in a very friendly and customer-oriented manner, that he would, of course, come up with something to make amends. When the bill arrived by email two days later, with a request for a prompt transfer, but no sign of any concession, we immediately transferred the amount and followed up with the promised compensation. The response: they hadn't charged for three bottles of wine, each costing XX euros. It's a shame that the bottle price didn't match ours on the bill, and there was no credit note or anything similar on the bill. It would have been fair and transparent to show this alleged discount, which we now have no idea why, on the bill or to inform us about it in advance, rather than only after payment and upon request. A transparent form of compensation would have been, for example, a stated discount on the bill or a voucher for a subsequent visit. The criticism regarding this has remained unanswered to this day. We feel deceived and will not host another celebration there. What a shame about the venue!

The service was great, despite the stress and poor internet (device for taking the order), friendly, courteous and helpful. The food was huge and very tasty (pizza). The view is fantastic.

We were invited to a big birthday party. There were many of us. The tables were lovingly and detailedly decorated, the places were decorated with place cards and candles and all sorts of jewelry. The expectation was great. However: the service staff seemed unprofessional, uninterested or incompetent, as if more than two people would be an unreasonable challenge. Well, there were simply not enough service staff. There were supposed to be appetizer plates on the tables, I didn't know where they could have been: the tables were too small for that. The appetizer plates were appetizer plates, each too small for individuals. Disappointing. Whoever got a drink was lucky or helped themselves. When the owner of the restaurant later appeared, the store gained momentum and the host's mood was already ruined. The host could perhaps still enjoy the decorations he had brought with him. No, I don't know if I've ever experienced such poor performance before. The host would have deserved compensation.

The communication is wrong here! I specifically ordered food without cheese, first a completely wrong dish came (this can happen), then the dish I ordered came, but with cheese! It was also bland, even though Penne Arrabiata! Even through email contact you can't understand what I want. Just pasta without cheese or other dairy products! For people with allergies (I'm not one of them), this can sometimes be a problem! Nowadays almost every restaurant, even in the deepest provinces, is prepared to offer plant-based alternatives!

We were looking forward to delicious pizzas (take away), but unfortunately the experience was anything but convincing. All four pizzas lacked spice and character. With the “Burrata” pizza, instead of the creamy and aromatic taste that you expect from burrata, we had the feeling that we were being served normal mozzarella. (Which alone wouldn't have been a reason for a negative rating for me). The crowning glory, however, was the calzone, which we ordered three times: According to the description, it was supposed to be topped with ham, but instead it was filled with pepper sausage. It didn't meet expectations at all and didn't taste good either. We were a bit horrified. We really wished we had a better experience here. Maybe this will help improve the quality in the future.

Too bad! First of all: we were a group of 8 people, some of whom had already had a good meal in this restaurant. That's why we were there on New Year's Eve. Table reservation: Although I said we had to finish eating by 10 p.m., there was no mention of the New Year's Eve party and the set menu for €89.90 per person. We only found this on the internet. The impression of the festively decorated restaurant was great and we were warmly welcomed! Things went downhill from there! There were no menu cards on the table, and the waitress didn't give any indication of what we were about to eat. But there was still the Internet. And it said “Aperitif and Canapé”. But there was no aperitif. The waiter said that was the French word for starter... so be it. 2nd course “Amuse bouche” "Scallops", which weren't (they were small artificially shaped cylinders made from Japanese scallops), plus "thyme on mashed potatoes", quite tasteless and somehow slapped on the plate. 3rd course: “Primi Pasta” (that’s what it says on the internet!) Salmon pasta or beef fillet truffle gnocchi. When asked: "You should have chosen that beforehand. Now you get the gnocchi." The pasta came as lasagne. Which, by the way, was very tasty! Then came the gnocchi with three tiny, wafer-thin slices of meat. Lightly seasoned, shouldn't there be truffles? By the way, you had to keep the cutlery until the meat course... Even before the plates were cleared away by the friendly wait staff, who were hopelessly overwhelmed by the overcrowded restaurant, there was lemon sorbet. It wasn't on the menu but it was delicious. Then came "Secondi di Carne": "Tournidos roast beef with demi-glacé." The tournedos were cooked to perfection, a good portion. Unfortunately unseasoned. No salt, no pepper. Just a nice tasteless piece of meat with rosemary potatoes with almost no rosemary. The “dessert” was a delicious strip of a chocolate convenience product. The background music with live songs à la "Marina, Marina ...) didn't help to overcome the culinary deficiencies, quite the opposite. Conclusion: That was nothing! Menu offer on the Internet, price of almost €90 and implementation did not match. At €60 we would have turned a blind eye, some of it was tasty. We wonder where were the delicious foods that we had eaten there before? Why the (failed) attempt to play in the culinary league? We'll come back in the summer and eat pizza and pasta on the terrace. Because you’re good at it!

Basically highly recommended and a nice location. The service was nice and courteous. The food was really excellent. At first glance everything seems very high quality. But there is room for improvement when it comes to details: dirty glasses at the table (see picture), laminated placemats instead of doilies, empty pepper mills, paper napkins. You can expect more when you pay €17.80 for the pizza. However, this was really big too. All in all, a fine restaurant if you overlook a few things. Still recommended in principle.

We made reservations two weeks in advance to eat there with the family and didn't get a table. The same thing happened to two other groups. First we were taken outside onto the terrace and asked to be patient, but even after waiting outside for 20 minutes, no table was available for us. There wasn't really an apology either. So we went to Franco's for dinner and the service was a world of difference. Never again!!

The atmosphere of the restaurant is really great and is second to none. The main courses were unfortunately a flop, the pizza was topped with cheap Aldi cooked ham and canned mushrooms, and no oregano, garlic and the like were included. My wife's salmon was overcooked and the sauce wasn't really seasoned The service staff was very friendly! What really bothered us was that it was only possible to pay in cash, but unfortunately it wasn't possible at all.

Yesterday evening we had the pleasure of spending a nice evening in an old, familiar atmosphere that now shines in new splendour. We would like to highlight the service, which was really friendly, attentive and always tried to ensure that the guests had a wonderful evening. Unfortunately, the courts were not entirely convincing. Not that they were bad - they certainly weren't. But if you expect authentic Italian with a certain sophistication and the “Dolce Vita” feeling, you will be disappointed here. In this context, the price-performance ratio is unfortunately not right. We are prepared to dig a little deeper into our pockets for a nice evening, but then everything really has to be right. A note: You shouldn't be fooled by the many positive reviews online, as most of them come from the previous operator. A little more attention to the preparation of the dishes instead of the elaborate decoration of the plates would be desirable. Beautifully arranged plates are nice to look at, but in Italy you rarely see such decoration - here it is the taste and quality of the food that counts. Another point: “The edge of the plate belongs to the guest” – please take this into account in the future. The setting with white tablecloths, laminated placemats (which reminded us of elementary school craft lessons) and paper napkins simply doesn't fit into the otherwise very nice ambience. Bread and Parmesan should not only be served upon request, and the typical Sambuca “on the house”, which is almost forced upon you at a real Italian restaurant, is unfortunately completely missing. Conclusion: Service: Good Food: Okay, but not an authentic Italian experience Ambiance: Great, but please reconsider the table setting Price-performance: Unfortunately not consistent Finally, I would like to emphasize that this review is to be understood as constructive criticism and is in no way intended to badmouth the restaurant. It comes from someone who grew up with real, very good and authentic Italian cuisine. My Sardinian uncle ran one of the best Italian restaurants in the region for decades, and this gave me a sense of the sophistication and passion that goes into an authentic Italian experience. I see a lot of potential here and hope that the team accepts some suggestions - so the 3 stars could easily become 4 or 5 stars in the future. Best regards, Peter Baumann

Very cozy furnishings and is in a top location by the Rhine. Unfortunately, everything else wasn't good. I found a very long hair in my food, and the response from the employee/owner was too weak. You would have had more conviction to save the situation. It was a Tuesday evening with the restaurant half empty, but still no one paid us enough attention - asking about several drinks or if everything was OK. In the end you couldn't pay by card at all - you might have said that when you ordered. I was disappointed!

The location on the banks of the Rhine is beautiful, the ambience inside tends to be elegant, the service is attentive, the food in our case was not recommended: bruschetta cold, tomatoes raw, the whole thing not over-baked; the Caprese with cow's milk mozzarella piled high with grated Parmesan(!); the fish soup was indefinably brown and unappetizing, the salmon and spinach lasagne with layers of an indefinable foam dough instead of pasta sheets, rather tasteless. Too bad.

Tablecloth outside was dirty. The espresso martini as an aperitif flocculated (for whatever reason), was sour and inedible. The food tasted like bags of tomato soup (sauce), the salmon was fried even deader than dead and the spinach could be found. We waited 25 minutes for a bottle of water. Even after asking 5 times, I still didn't get any salt or pepper. At the end there was no courtesy or apology, just a cheeky expectation of a tip. Normally I tip even if the food is bad, but if there is zero service there is nothing.

Well, that's how it went at La Cucina. Main course delicious, side dishes unfortunately not. The additional sweet potato fries I ordered were somehow over the top, and the fettucine wasn't to my taste at all. The service was somehow always stressful and the ambience was marred by an annoyingly loud (coffee?) machine, the toilet door not closing and the exclusion of card payment. Price/performance ratio was somewhat ok, only these additional fries were too expensive

We were very disappointed but had been looking forward to the beautiful restaurant with a terrace. Unfortunately the music on the terrace was so loud that we couldn't have a conversation. Despite repeated complaints to the staff, the volume of the music did not decrease. We wanted to stay and have a drink, but then we left very quickly. Too bad.....

We had reserved a table for around 20 people. When we entered the restaurant it smelled very delicious, so we all worked up an appetite. Unfortunately, we missed it when we sat down at the table. The tablecloth looked as if it hadn't been changed in days: red wine or juice stains, chocolate stains, bread crumbs and other indefinable stains. The traces (lipstick) from our predecessors could still be seen on the glasses that were already on the table. We left the restaurant together. We were lucky that we were able to get a table at short notice with so many people in a pizzeria where we felt very comfortable.

The location directly on the Rhine is excellent, otherwise the restaurant itself is unfortunately only mediocre. The service is disorganized. For example, we had to ask several times for a spoon and wait 5 minutes. The cushions on the chairs have mold stains, there are not enough parking spaces directly in front of the restaurant and the food is not very tasteful. Payment is only possible in cash and you will only receive a receipt or receipt upon request, otherwise the device screen must be sufficient for operation.

The positive first: A beautiful location on the Rhine...but unfortunately that's where it ends. Completely overwhelmed, not exactly friendly and disoriented service staff. There is absolute chaos here. Tables that are no longer occupied are full of dishes and glasses. I've never had such bad spaghetti carbonara...and this dish isn't rocket science. The sauce (probably from the bag) was dark yellow and had a very strange consistency (made with curry?!) Definitely indefinable and made with soft bacon. Carbonara doesn't taste like that!!! For starters we ordered Bruscetta Mista. Four tiny slices of bread with some toppings...for €16.90...incredibly overpriced. Goods value maximum €2.50 Drinks were only brought after repeated requests. Unfortunately, that was our first and last visit here! Too bad...

Very nice location right on the Rhine. Very stylish atmosphere and very friendly and attentive staff. The kitchen offers a good selection of Mediterranean cuisine. We didn't get any food after over an hour and several requests. It was a salad and two pizzas. Other guests came later and received their food after 30 minutes. Service was not attentive and when we asked for a beer mat because of wasps they promised to bring one. This never arrived after 1 hour and inquiries. I can't say anything about the food. No apology - no insight. Absolutely not recommended.

Unfortunately, the food doesn't outweigh the service. Friendly but very inattentive service. The table was set and we came with 2 people and reservation. Unfortunately we were missing the fork. The service staff didn't even notice, so when the appetizer came, I took the forks from the next table. Empty glasses were overlooked even though we had placed them on the edge of the table. After we were finally able to draw attention to ourselves and ordered another Kölsch, they forgot to bring it to us. We had to draw attention to ourselves again after more than 15 minutes. The cutlery was cleared away with the starters - but unfortunately no new ones were brought. We had to explicitly ask again when the main course was brought and we were already wished we had a good appetite and whether we would also be given cutlery. After ordering another drink (water) we were only given a bottle but no glasses. The bill was brought to the table, but then no one came to pay. We then went to the counter to pay with the box that contained the bill. The restaurant was comparatively empty. So it certainly wasn't that. It's a shame - the shop could be a goldmine, so beautifully located, if the staff were a little more attentive.

When I occasionally return to Linz for work, I like to stop here for dinner with colleagues or alone. A relatively quiet location for the Rhine Valley, friendly service, and good food.

The schnitzel was from the deep fryer, the cream sauce was probably from a carton, and the fried potatoes weren't homemade either. The bacon bits were burnt. The receipt was just a handwritten note. The food wasn't great.

We were out with a group for lunch and stopped in here spontaneously. + Very friendly, attentive service + Reasonable prices + We had a lovely outdoor seating area in front of the restaurant + The liver was perfectly prepared, and the tzatziki was also very good + The bulgur as a side dish is highly recommended; it was very spicy and delicious + The kids' fries arrived first after a maximum of 5 minutes of waiting...good thinking! - Unfortunately, the fries were a bit soggy; they would have benefited from a little longer in the fryer. - The salad was chopped too coarsely and therefore a bit hard. - The meat for the souvlaki was very finely chopped and stringy...a shame! Overall, we had a very good time and would come back in a heartbeat! We wouldn't order souvlaki again ;)
