Renaissance Riessersee in Garmisch-Partenkirchen

I came to this place specifically to celebrate my birthday because the view is truly beautiful. After we ordered, the waiter informed us that the restaurant would be closing in 30 minutes. We then canceled our order and opted for cocktails and dessert instead. However, 20 minutes after dessert, the food we had canceled was still brought to us. We refused to pay and explained that they were welcome to check the security cameras to see that we had clearly canceled the order. The staff showed no interest in our explanation. We asked for the food to be packaged for takeaway, but they didn't even provide proper packaging. The view is truly magnificent. The service – unfortunately, none at all.

Very disappointing! We were absolutely dissatisfied with our visit. The waiters didn't listen at all and brought us food we hadn't ordered. Despite our warning, the problem wasn't resolved. Even the manager we called couldn't or wouldn't do anything. In the end, we had to pay for something we neither ordered nor ate. This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable. We definitely won't be back and can't recommend this place to anyone.

We were guests at the Riessersee Hotel. Upon arrival, we had lunch there. I thought it was delicious, and the view was very impressive.

Very good café. Fantastic location directly on Lake Riessersee with a magnificent view of the Zugspitze and the surrounding area. The service was extremely friendly and discreetly asked several times if everything was okay. My Kaiserschmarrn was excellent: the best I've ever had. The furniture and decor are very good and comfortable. Since the terrace is on two levels, even guests in the second row still have a good view. I recommend a visit combined with a short walk, which even those with a lazy mind can manage. The path around the lake is flat and in very good condition. There are fish and ducks in the lake that you can observe. The same goes for swimmers and pedal boats.

We went there for dinner. The wait time for our order was short and therefore very pleasant. The food was great. The price was a bit high, but the quality and taste were good. If you want to treat yourself in the evening and go home satisfied, you can go there. The service staff was super friendly. The only criticism, and therefore not 5 stars, is that my wife only ordered a salad. I had ordered an appetizer beforehand. The appetizer and her salad (main course) were brought together, so my main course came alone, and I had to eat alone. That was a bit of a shame for my first visit.

Very nice. The staff is attentive, friendly, and accommodating to individual requests. At the end, even though it was almost closed due to a private event, we were served a round of drinks, very nice.

Opening hours aren't until 10 p.m. as stated on the website. I arrived at 8:50 p.m. to round off the evening with a drink, but the waiter quickly informed me that no new customers were welcome. Basically, I understand that you have to set a limit somewhere, but I don't understand why you wouldn't even offer a guest a drink when other people are clearly still ordering their food.

Like every year, we take a short hike from Grainau to Rießersee and then stop at the Seehaus. We were disappointed by the service last year. The cheesecake was frozen solid because the refrigerated counter was set too cold. We sent the cake back and were asked to pay for it at the end. When we didn't, the waiter made a rude comment. This year, however, we wanted to give the Seehaus a second chance. The view is magnificent, and the food, except for the aforementioned cheesecake, was always excellent. After the hike, we sat by the lake and waited for the waiter we knew. He served the guests at the next table and then on the opposite side. After 10 minutes, we gestured that we would like to order something. After 20 minutes, we left. The waiter had ignored us up to that point. Apparently, hikers aren't their desired clientele. What a shame. We won't give the Seehaus a third chance. We recommend speaking to the wait staff. The view is still highly recommended.

Very idyllically located directly on the Riessersee.

Idyllic, quiet, easy to walk around

My wife and I went to the Seehaus Restaurant on Lake Riessersee twice during our holiday in Garmisch Partenkirchen. The location and view are unbelievably beautiful. The food is really good. However, I have to say that the value for money here is not right. The portions are quite small and expensive. The staff, as other guests have already described in reviews, are condescending, I would say. You practically have to chase after people to place an order. The same goes for the bill. It makes you feel really stupid having to beg for something that you then have to pay for. Sorry.

Beautiful lake view, friendly service

We had a business meal here with almost 60 people, we had a buffet. The service was good and the ambience with the view was very nice. However, the buffet was slightly disappointing. The starters and desserts were good, but the main courses were mediocre, the beef and chicken fillet was very dry. The only “sauce” was the herb quark that came with the baked potatoes, at least a gravy would have been nice.

The restaurant can only be reached via a bumpy road that is closed on one side. The friendliness of the staff was okay, but not particularly. The food okay. The lake is rather small for a lake. Didn't do what I expected.

I stopped there after many hikes. Very nice restaurant on the edge of the Riessersee. Great panorama. Very good selection of different food and drinks. Staff is very friendly and quick. If the weather is nice you can also sit outside. There are many attractions all around. Definitely worth a visit. Prices are completely okay. There are enough parking spaces available. Simply a fantastic area.

The crusty roast was hard and lukewarm. It is also served in a soup bowl which makes it a bit awkward to eat. Service at the table (male with glasses 1A) but before we got here we were confronted with a large male waiter who was anything but hospitable. Had the feeling he didn't want us here.

Were in the hotel for the second time now and what can I say... It was really nice again. There was a small gugelhupf as a welcome. Great gesture. The hotel also helped me surprise my daughter for her birthday. They organized a bouquet of flowers and beautifully set the table for us for dinner in the evening. Just really great service. The staff was again very accommodating and incredibly nice. We'll definitely be back

Very good time spent with the family with a splendid view of the lake frozen for the winter. Succulent dishes… surprised by the other reviews and the service was just as pleasant. Note that a Kaiserschmarrn is made on site and fresh so requires 30 minutes of preparation (plan to order in advance if necessary).

After a walk around Lake Rießersee, we just ate something in the restaurant. The food was good (not exceptional, but completely adequate), the service was friendly and good, and the view was sensational. Gladly again at any time.

Unfortunately less recommended. The only thing good here is the location. Cheese spaetzle look good, but the taste is not convincing. Hardly any taste. We wanted to get a refund for our parking ticket. That was 2 minutes after we paid. Was not accepted with the comment: bad luck. Well then, thank you for nothing!

A beautiful view on the mountiouns

We weren't hotel guests, we were in the restaurant for coffee. Super delicious Kaiserschmarrn and a beautiful view of Rießersee and the Wetterstein massif.

There was only one visit to a restaurant! Conclusion: Good “bourgeois cuisine” with the expected quality. Good service, unbeatable view...!

The staff is very friendly and takes care of the guests and their concerns

We were in the cafe right by the lake, the view is breathtaking! Only the food wasn't particularly good and at these prices. The Kässpätzle were made with mountain cheese, unfortunately we didn't taste any of it. It was far too creamy - unfortunately not recommended. We can't say anything about the other dishes, maybe they are better.

Highly recommended, I had a goulash soup. There was a decent portion and enough bread.

The location and the view are great. The staff is friendly, but after the order was brought to us they didn't check on us or clear away the empty plates. This was particularly annoying with all the wasps. Coffee and cake were good.

The hotel restaurant is in a great location and invites you to relax. But the waiters are filling up like nothing better, no good day, you are given a menu and two minutes later you are there and want to know what you want to order. Any demand was too much for them.

This is only about the restaurant. We parked outside and came in to ask about the meter, how to pay. We had to follow the guy who worked here saying excuse me while he ignored us for 5 whole minutes!!! A customer setting there was astonished! asking why is this guy treating you that way!!! yes why! is it bcz one of us is clearly a Muslim wearing a hijab? needless to say we did not eat here, nor we intend to do so ever.

Nice location right on the lake. Very good service before. Special meal requests were catered for without any problems. However, the lake house is not very centrally located. The Seehaus can be easily reached on foot via the ascending but relatively short Rießerser footpath. In terms of price, I found the lake house to be quite expensive if you only want to take a short break on a hike. Overall, a nice location in an idyllic place.

Great location with a view of the Waxebstein

This review only concerns the restaurant with a view of the Riessersee. We are currently staying at the Riessersee hotel, where the staff is generally very friendly. That is absolutely not the case in the restaurant. On our two visits this week, we were confronted with unfriendly staff. We did not feel welcome here.

It's a shame, very nice location, but apparently you don't really want to have or serve many guests. We arrived towards evening and sat down at a free window seat where people had obviously already eaten. About 5 waiters then walked past us without even looking at us. Since it was 8:30 p.m., no one wanted to serve us anymore. At some point a waiter came and took our order. The table, which was still dirty, was no longer cleaned. In my opinion, that doesn't work at all! Food was okay - except for the beef broth: Cheap packet soup, lukewarm, probably straight out of the microwave before the end of the day - inedible! Map very limited. Went there again alone and a third time with friends - the location is really nice. But again they weren't served at first. Our friends asked us if it was always like that here... So it doesn't seem to be a coincidence or accident, but rather normal there. After the last order and consumption, we asked a waiter for the bill. Here too we waited at least 20 minutes without anyone paying any attention to us again. At the third friendly reminder from our acquaintances, a waiter gave us such an evil look that it was cheeky! This is not how you should treat guests. I have the impression that there is a lack of motivation and good organization here. Staff pays too little attention to the guests; They do not check whether everything is in order, they do not ask if you would like something to drink and eventually they say that the kitchen is already closed (at 8.45 pm) and that we could no longer order dessert. We were only told this after waiting a while for the menu and having to call a waiter for this. When paying it was downright rude; the waiter grabbed the ATM back from the table and walked away without saying anything. Disappointing. We couldn't see anything of the beautiful view because we were sitting behind a pillar inside.

Great lakeside terrace, very attentive and nice service. Non-alcoholic cocktails are highly recommended, the sausage salad was also great - but a bit too expensive for €13.

As a guest, you can also pay a parking fee of 7 euros per day for private parking. When I was a guest, I never met anyone who wanted to hear an oppressive reminder, but I always heard the ruitenwissers. Even as a guest you can pay the parking fee of 7 euros per day in the so-called private parking lot. And if you as a guest don't know this, you immediately have a threatening note behind your windshield wiper. We are sorry that we were guests here.

Drinks and cakes were decent. Friendly and helpful staff! Beautiful location directly with a sun terrace on Lake Rießersee.

Quiet place by the lake with beautiful views

We had a great experience at this restaurant! The food was incredibly tasty and everything was freshly prepared. The service was absolutely first class, it couldn't be better. Particularly worth mentioning is the Kaiserschmarrn – the best I have ever eaten in my life. A big thank you to Chef Dennis for his effort and the wonderful cuisine. Also a special thank you to the friendly waitress and the attentive waiter, whose names we unfortunately didn't get. It was just great with you, and it's a shame that our vacation is now over.

Poor service...it's like we're disturbing the servers. 20 min wait even though there were no crowds to take our order of 2 drinks. And not a smile, a word of apology.

Only recommended to a very limited extent for vegetarians. There are only Kasspatzen and baked potatoes to choose from alongside salad. A little uncreative. The waiter rolled his eyes at every other order. Really nice location but the service could be friendlier.

I really enjoy going to this restaurant. The restaurant has a lot of different foods to offer, I've tried a lot of them so far and I have nothing but high praise for the cookers. View from the restaurant, terrace is insane. The lake is beautiful and I can't decide whether summer or winter is nicer (my recommendation is to go there at any time 😊). Price-performance is top-notch, service is great, but the waiter is really incredibly professional. His name is Frimu Sorin. I can really recommend Frimu Sorin as a waiter 100%, he is incredibly experienced and professional, helpful, nice and friendly. He also has a very calm, pleasant and motivating manner. He is also competent when it comes to nutritional advice, so that you receive holistic care from him. Sorin is an absolute professional! A really top service!

Were only in the restaurant. The lake is overrated, completely silted up. But great ambience and view of the mountains. Service is very overwhelmed (topic: every course is slim) with little overview of whether an order has already been placed or not. The view of the surroundings when walking back and forth is missing. Food and wine list quite small, but sufficient. Despite the hectic pace, the waiter always has a good saying on his lips.

We were in beautiful Garmisch-Partenkirchen at the weekend and we couldn't miss a trip to Lake Riessersee. When the weather was beautiful, we first walked around the lake before renting a pedal boat. We were warmly welcomed there and enjoyed our little trip on the Riessersee. Afterwards there was refreshment in the Seehaus Restaurant, which offered a wonderful view of the mountains. The service staff was very friendly, accommodating and responded to our every request immediately. The food and drinks were great and really great value for money! All in all a successful day at Riessersee that we would recommend to everyone. We'd love to come back!

Great location in the middle of nature

The restaurant has a very idyllic location on Lake Rießersee. That's why we stopped there on Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, we sat at the table for 20 minutes without one of the waiters passing us even asking about our order. In total there were only 10 tables occupied on the terrace. For unfathomable reasons, orders were taken from guests who arrived after us. After 20 minutes we left because we've never had such bad service before.

You sit here right on the lake, very comfortable. Lots of seating and enough sun protection. The service was friendly and attentive. The latte macchiato was very good and the tiramisu cake was a poem. Be sure to come here yourself 😊

We had dinner with you and what can I say. Top service, top food and the location and view are simply fantastic. We reserved a table by the lake and everything worked out great. We decided on crusty roast and spaetzle. Special requests were taken into account and it was super tasty. For dessert there was Kaiserschmarn, which took my shoes off, it was so delicious. Fresh from the pan, super caramelized and buttery with three kinds of compote. World class. Thank you for the lovely evening and see you soon.

Unfortunately, out of 10 customers, the service delivered 3 incorrectly… No apology was given for the error This was also not taken into account in the invoice. If I hadn't had such a fire, I wouldn't have waited 20 minutes to get my beer. First the waitresses constantly walk past you and then you wait forever for your drink.

The kitchen does not work from 5 to 6. no chance to eat anything. I arrived little earlier and got a menu, but after I already selected dish - I was told I can not order anything before 6. That is bad service.

Fantastic view from the terrace over the Rießersee to the Manndl and Zwölfköpfer. Cakes and hot drinks were good! Very nice service!

Since I didn't have a room there, I can't rate it. But: The location is a dream. Lakeside terrace by the water, with a great view of the mountains. When the sun is still shining, I have to say: it couldn't be better. Clear recommendation.

The Kaiserschmarrn is a poem and that on the lakeside terrace on Lake Riesersee with friendly, emphatic employees. Highly recommended and a must on every holiday.

The Kaiserschmarrn was divine. Very generous portion, we couldn't finish it. Very fluffy, with lots of applesauce. The service was very nice, tried very hard, and was happy to fulfill any special requests.

Hotel Riessersee/Seehaus! Wonderful location. We stayed in the lake house. Balcony view see photo. Room/suite with a small living room and walk-in closet. Clean and pleasant. The actual hotel is a few steps away and has several houses. We didn't eat there because it was only half board. Food in the Seehaus restaurant was very good. Price/performance okay. 3 very small starters in a glass for 12.90 euros, venison goulash was around 17 euros. Wine excellent. We didn't test the wellness area in the hotel because we were only there for 2 days. But looked very good. There were also applications. There was also a small fitness area. We will come back in any case.

Super friendly service, we felt comfortable. We sat outside for coffee and cake, with a great view of the mountains. I can highly recommend the apple pie. Unfortunately the cream in my hot chocolate was sour, but that was kindly replaced.

I know where to stay next time I am in Garmisch. I accidentally stumbled upon this restaurant when I did some exploring to see the lake. Food, beer and bread was outstanding. Service was top notch too.

Very nice hotel, with a small Rissersee, but a bit far from the center of Garmisch.
