Raph's BBQ in Köln

Food at its best. Great brisket and pulled pork. Unfortunately, given the ambience, I imagined something different from a diner.

We had reserved a table for two people in the winter garden online at short notice the day before. The beef platter for two people was just enough for us (2 men with normal hunger). The portion and price were absolutely fair and really tasty. The quality is simply great! However, if you're looking for a super chic atmosphere here, you're in the wrong place (not meant negatively)

A true BBQ heaven. Everything was really delicious. The BBQ sauces are a dream. We had the Texas Heaven Platter for 4 people. The homemade iced tea and lemonade are addictive. I was definitely not there for the last time

We've been here several times now, and today all the food was greasy. We hadn't had anything like that before. Nevertheless, the taste was very good as usual.

The 4 person Texas Heaven Platter was world class. The taste, price and quantity are all right. Plus delicious homemade iced tea and lemonade. It was very, very tasty and we will definitely come back.

We didn't make a reservation but got a table straight away. The service is really nice, attentive and courteous. He had “What the beef” and was unfortunately a little disappointed. The pulled beef was unfortunately cold and completely juiceless, the brisket unfortunately only had the full fat part and was pretty tasteless. The chili-cheese beef sausage and all the side dishes were very good. The burnt ends tasted great, but some were really hard. We'll be back again and hopefully we'll be proven wrong, but this time unfortunately only 3 stars are enough.

Have been there twice now and both times the food + service was first class. Unfortunately, last time we had to wait 35 minutes in the cold because our table was still occupied. There was a round on the house and, as always, great food. Unfortunately Raph wasn't there ^^

We sat outside in the winter garden, which was heated but was still a bit permeable to wind. The food was delivered super quickly and was also super tasty!! I had the holy trinity for about 50 euros. The plate is absolutely loaded with more than enough for one person. The super nice waiters were also really friendly and helpful when deciding on a dish. Dogs are also allowed and water was also provided to us. Great overall experience!

I ate there for the first time yesterday with a friend and it was definitely worth it. Sure, it's not cheap in terms of price, but quality (and quantity!) has its price. Plus, I wouldn't go there every month, but three or four times a year, because it's more of an experience than just going out to eat. We got the beef platter for two people and were more than full afterwards, although everything was an 8 to 10 in terms of taste except maybe the cornbreads, but it's quite difficult to create a WOW effect. Service was also super nice and accommodating. At this point I apologize to the waitress because I had a brief blackout with the card reader and forgot the tip. Luckily my friend noticed it and gave it to her.

The best goose in Cologne and the surrounding area! A must for us every year. But also hamburgers & Co. Made from the best quality meat, with ingenious sauces and side dishes, they are always pure enjoyment! You can tell that only good products are used to cook here. Be sure to reserve in advance! And just enjoy it piece by piece!

Great food, unfortunately the brisket was a bit dry but the sausages were fresh

We ate at Raph's BBQ because we had heard good things and were looking forward to a great BBQ experience. Unfortunately the food did not meet our expectations. Many dishes were very dry, which is really disappointing, especially with BBQ dishes. The taste was okay, but not outstanding. The atmosphere was pleasant and the service was friendly, but ultimately a visit depends on the quality of the food. It's a shame, we had hoped for more.

Absolutely deserves a full review. The small restaurant has an American BBQ atmosphere, the service is very friendly and the food was simply GREAT, really tasty!

Filled with meat, just as you would expect at a BBQ. Of course it's a matter of taste but I was missing salt in places and spices in general. Still very tasty, we will definitely come again!

We went to Raph’s for dinner today. The ambience in the winter garden was excellent, the patio heaters made it nice and warm and the food was very tasty. My 3-year-old son also enjoyed it and both the guests and the staff were absolutely child-friendly. We'll definitely be back.

A visit that is worth it! We were guests last Friday. Despite the fact that the store was already busy when it opened, we were always served quickly by the friendly and attentive service staff. The food didn't take long to arrive either. This impresses with its great taste, selection and quantity and offers a great BBQ experience! In addition to the meat, the great side dishes should also be highlighted!

I have to leave a review here because what some people are writing on social media because of their frustration is really not fair. In short: the store is great. If you like meat you won't be disappointed here. Service has always been nice (I've been there 7 times so far). Anyone who complains that they pay more for high-quality BBQ than at a fast food chain probably can't be helped. Portions are great, I eat a lot myself and you fill up well here. Hopefully it will be added soon, as the flow is so high due to the quality, it is always difficult to get a table without booking in advance. All in all a great shop! Dear Raph, more all you can eat events soon please, my boys are already waiting!

So I really don't know how some people come up with a star. Next time they might be better off going to Burger King and eating an industrial burger. We've been to Raph's BBQ several times, with a reservation of course, and we've NEVER been disappointed. The food is really really good, but it also comes at a price. Good craftsmanship costs money. You may not be able to afford it every week, but once every two months is fine. You just go to junk fast food stores three times less. Then you'll have the money for Raph's BBQ. Sure, you can definitely do something with the ambience, but I prefer the food. If that fits, I don't really care about the rest.

Best authentic barbecue around. Clear recommendation

We planned our visit for a while and even though we are from Cologne, we made reservations in advance. Raph was super nice on the phone and we came to the BBQ very happy and full of anticipation. We had a starter that was really tasty and then we had the Aporkalypse platter for 4. There's a lot left over. Everything was super tasty. The cornbread wasn't to our taste, but Raph can't help it. The truffle mayo, coleslaw and pulled pork were divine. The cheese sausage is a taste explosion! There's so much cheese in there. If you ask Raph, you can even buy them shrink-wrapped to take home 🤩 I ordered an extra portion of burned ends and they surpassed everything. My god, that was cool! In the end, the four of us paid around €160. With starter, platter, extra burned ends, extra sauces and lots of drinks. Absolutely justified. The remaining things from the record were packed up for us and we were able to delight us again the next day. We were very satisfied and would like to come back. P.s if you come from far away EXTRA, don't reserve a table and then get upset that you can't get a seat or take things with you. This can't be helped either. Such nonsense! Don't drive somewhere for hours just on the off chance.

American barbecue with an overwhelming visual appearance. Four men ordered a four-person plate, but we couldn't eat it all. The amount is enormous. The food is delicious, but it doesn't live up to the visuals. I don't know if it was because I had high expectations, but to be honest, I didn't feel it was very delicious. Of course, the food is on the delicious side, but considering that it requires a 20-30 minute drive from the city and is expensive at 50-60 euros per person, it is difficult to give it a good score. The taste has plenty of room for improvement. The staff are extremely friendly though Having a time limit is a big drawback.

We were at Raph's with 6 people during Gamescom and I just have to say a lot of praise. I'm a chef myself and that's why I'm often looking for something special and out of the ordinary when I go out to eat. I have rarely eaten such a great BBQ myself, from the portion size to the price as well as the incredible quality it is simply great!

We came especially from Bremen, unfortunately we weren't on your site and didn't know about reservations. We came on the recommendation of a YouTuber and weren't allowed in and we weren't even allowed to take food with us, which wasn't really disappointing either It has nothing to do with service Instead of apologizing you make me the guilty party here, I'm really disappointed 😞 And when we were there, the shop wasn't full, there were several tables free

Incomparable. The quality of the products is second to none. Anyone who cares about the type of meat and the different cooking methods knows how much work goes into it. This is an art form that doesn't often make it across the pond. Raph and his team did it. You don't have to go to Tennessee or Texas for that :-) Great shop, we keep coming back

I've been to Raph's a few times now and always enjoy eating with him. The BBQ is from another planet. Really good and decent portions. The records in particular are mega. My favorite is the chili cheese sausage. I can strongly recommend Raph's BBQ ☝🏽️💯. Since the shop is often full, you should reserve in advance 😉😉😉

Super tasty BBQ with reasonably sized portions. For me it's the closest store to American BBQ in the USA!

Attmosphere was great combining BBQ place and garden view. Was sweet that small heating systema werr offered. Service was very polite with always big smiles. Brought great happiess before meal. Food was a bit too zalty. Taste and zaltiness reminded me old style of European cooking. Meat was too dry for pulled pork, pulled beef and brisket burn ends. Was a bit pitty. However, if you want to experience party plate with meats. This shop can be a place to go for it.

We visited Raph's BBQ to celebrate the birth of a friend's second child - and the choice couldn't have been better! I first came across the shop through the food truck at the Street Food Festival in the Duisburg Landscape Park. The Peanut Butter Bacon Burger was already a hit back then, and the restaurant more than lived up to expectations. Luckily we had a reservation because the store was full when it opened. We ordered the Texas Heaven Platter for six, and everything was tender and juicy, with perfectly coordinated glazes. I would particularly like to highlight the ribs and chicken wings with the spicy-sweet sauce. Sides like fries, cornbread, mac & cheese and cucumber salad rounded out the meal. The journey of over an hour was totally worth it – we will definitely come back!

Went there for the first time and shared a chicken tray and a Holy Trinity platter as a couple. We couldn't get it open and took some of it home with us. But the taste is very good and definitely recommended. Good BBQ has its price and I think that's completely okay. Big praise also for the service. Rarely experienced that all employees were consistently very friendly and helpful. Keep it up!

Were there for the third time now. The BBQ is the best you can get in the Cologne area. No matter whether pulled pork/beef, brisket, or chicken. Everything is homemade and you can taste it. You have to make a reservation because it is very popular. The service is always friendly, always with a nice saying and excellent advice. Today Carina took charge of our conditions and it was an all-round perfect BBQ experience. So if you want to eat authentic American BBQ, this is the place for you! Will definitely come back a 4th and 5th time.

Where should I start.... Service, extremely bad (the one with the glasses and beard is definitely wrong at the job) the ladies in service made up for his behavior. He can't handle extra orders, gets snotty when you order children's menus as an adult (small hunger) settles the entire bill straight away, no question as to whether it is a single payment or separately, no payment is possible at the table???? In 2024?????? .also billed incorrectly, can't explain dishes, please replace the one with the beard and glasses. Wrong food brought. Even at several tables. The menus simply remain on the table, 2 were broken, no sustainability. Ambiance.....well, it could be worse. But please train your staff in the catering area, especially the one with the glasses... Questions on menus have to be asked by the staff first, you have to have something like that... Price performance, it's not possible at all gets, so once and never again...... And please, please quit/train the guy with the glasses, he's wrong in the catering sector. The ladies were great, they know their job. Best regards 👋🏾

If you like good meat, this is the right place. The photo shows the meat platter GODFATHER Platter (124.90) for 2 very hungry people. No matter how hungry we were, we would never have managed this portion, but the rest - warmed up - tasted excellent the next morning. The ambience is rather simple, from the outside it reminds you of a kind of campsite restaurant. The inside is good, solid but that's not important in this case, the only thing that counts here is the taste of the meat and the great way it was prepared. Almost unbeatable. My personal highlight is pulled pork. However, a spontaneous meal on site is hardly possible; you have to reserve in advance and come early enough to get a parking space in front of the restaurant.

Food is awesome!!! Once you've been there, you'll know why you have to reserve so early. We'll definitely be back. And I'm excited.

The food was super delicious. The meat was on point. Unfortunately it was very fatty and heavily seasoned. We also sat in a “tent” and it was loud. For 60€ per person I had imagined a different atmosphere.

First of all, the gentleman who greeted us at the parking lot was very unfriendly when he found out that only 3 of 4 people had come. He then immediately told us his opinion that it would be bad for the store economically if someone was missing. Thanks for the introduction to gastronomy✌️ We were tired of it. Nevertheless, we had the plate for 4 people 🤫 Ambiance outside was okay, but I couldn't reconcile it with BBQ. Then again to the man in red, as he always mentioned, that he is wearing red and please only ask questions about people in black. Ridiculous. Are you just there to tickle people? We traveled 3 hours. Then came the beef platter for 4 people. The beef was very tasty in all versions. Sauces were also very tasty. Personally, we found the mac and cheese really disappointing as it was rather tasteless. Nevertheless, the food was tasty, but not outstanding. Prices are appropriate so far. Nevertheless, not recommended due to the gentleman who welcomes the guests and coordinates the seats. We ordered the Skin-on-Fries and the Peach Habanero Chicken Wings as starters. The portion of fries was very large and absolutely enough for two people. The wings are sweet, pleasantly slightly spicy and very tasty. For the main course we shared the Raphs Motherload. There was some leftover at the end as the portions were really filling. But we were able to have that packed up. The pulled pork was well seasoned and very tender. The pulled beef was a bit lacking in seasoning, but the consistency was great here too. The sausage was crunchy but didn't have any particular flavor to us, meaning it just tasted like a normal grilled sausage. The ribs had meat falling off the bone and were very juicy and tasty. The side dishes were solid. The food came very quickly and hot and was overall delicious!!! The service was attentive, friendly and always kept an eye on the table. A visit to Raph's BBQ is highly recommended! Note on the portion size of the platter: Pulled pork and pulled beef correspond to the 100g portion, the sausage corresponds to a normal portion and the ribs and the side dishes correspond to half the portion size as if you ordered them individually from the menu.

We had the grill plate for several people. The food was really tasty and varied. The portions were more than sufficient. The service was very friendly, we didn't have to wait long.

Directly attached to a tennis club, but still independent. Plenty of seating, all in all very comfortably furnished. We had the "Aporkalypse Platter" with four adults with a large selection of pork meat (pulled pork, Raph's Krakauer, smoky bratwurst - both types of sausage specially made according to our own recipe!!!-, St. Louis ribs, pork belly) and lots of side dishes ( Coleslaw, mac'n'cheese, French fries, baked beans, cornbread and grilled corn on the cob, plus lots of homemade sauces would definitely have fed two other eaters. The rest was packed away. Everything was very tasty, the service was great , friendly and attentive. That's why you like to come here, even from a further distance.

Absolutely terrific food. Had the beef bbq platter, highly recommended. Of course, quality has its price. The lemonade of the day was a bit unexpected but not bad either, but I don't know if someone made a mistake and used coconut instead of lime 🤣 All in one a great experience. There are also a few vegetarian products. The cauliflower wings weren't bad, but otherwise more for meat lovers.

I saw YouTuber Max's video and really wanted to test it out. So my wife and sister packed up and off we go. The ambience was pleasant and American-style. Country music, rustic furniture...we felt comfortable. Service was great too. Nothing to complain about, 5 stars. Now to the essentials, the food. My sister had the Raphs Smashed Burger which was great. Very juicy, great flavors and a very good size for almost 17 euros. The “normal” fries had a greasy taste. You should be prepared for that. My wife and I had the beef platter. Sandwich was good, mac 'n cheese was fine. Coleslaw was nothing special, pastrami was tasty and the beef ends was great. The pulled beef was far dry and made you salivate while eating it. I could only eat it with lots of BBQ sauce. But the taste is quite ok. What didn't work at all was the sausage. Was like a mixture of water and mud in my mouth and tasted like nothing. A bit spicy, but otherwise not digestible. Unfortunately I have to call the child by its name. The sausage is absolute rubbish and I cannot recommend it. On the whole we would come back for the burger but unfortunately the platter was a waste of money. Too bad. I had promised myself more. I know that tastes are different and everyone has to test it for themselves.

Damn good BBQ, fast and friendly service.

I didn't like it. The food is too fatty for my taste even though I like the taste of barbecue cooking. But the problem is rather linked to too much fat. It was a little too noisy inside and the smell in the brewery was strong. But I understand that the place attracts a rather young clientele.

We had the “What the Beef Platter” for 2 people. The food was very delicious, the portion was just OK and the price was reasonable. Guaranteed to come back.

There were two of us there and we thought it was great. The plates seem a bit expensive at first, but when you see the portion size you immediately understand why. Even as two big men with a lot of hunger who took our time, we didn't quite finish the record. Everything was really delicious: the meat was perfect, the side dishes were delicious, the sauces were fruity and smoky and the fries were crispy and well seasoned. There's even really good Belgian beer on the menu. We'll definitely come back again!

Das Essen war sehr lecker und die Portionen nicht ohne. Wir hatten eine Platte für 4 Personen und da wir alle viel essen können haben wir die Platte fast komplett geschafft. Ein sehr freundliches Team. An der Atmosphäre draußen kann man noch arbeiten. Aber das ist Jammern auf hohem Niveau. Wir werden wiederkommen.

The food was very tasty and the portions were generous. We had a platter for 4 people and since we can all eat a lot, we almost finished the platter. A very friendly team. You can still work on the atmosphere outside. But that's whining at a high level. We will come back.

I was really looking forward to the visit after all the YouTube videos about the BBQ. Unfortunately the service was slightly overwhelmed. There was only one person taking orders. And the food was nothing more than "okay". Almost everything was cold. Even the sausage was only lukewarm. And the taste wasn't significantly better than if I had grilled it. But the corn bread and salads were all outstanding. And at least everything looked good.
