Pizzeria & Ristorante Franco in Linz am Rhein

Tolles Ambiente und lieber Service – aber leider große Mängel bei der Kennzeichnung. Diese Rezension ist meine eigene Erfahrung und aus meiner individuellen Situation heraus geschildert. Wer sich Omnivor ernährt, ist hiervon nicht betroffen. Wir haben einen Abend in diesem Restaurant verbracht und wurden wirklich positiv vom tollen Ambiente und dem sehr freundlichen, bemühten Kellner überrascht. Der Service war absolut herzlich, und man hat sich direkt wohlgefühlt. Leider gab es beim Essen jedoch eine herbe Enttäuschung: Auf der Online-Speisekarte sind mehrere Gerichte explizit als vegetarisch gekennzeichnet, die es bei genauerem Hinsehen überhaupt nicht sind. In meinem Wunschgericht war Grana Padano enthalten. Da der Käse bereits fest in die Sauce eingerührt war, konnte man ihn auch nicht mehr weglassen. Als ich den Kellner darauf ansprach, dass Grana Padano wegen des tierischen Labs nicht vegetarisch ist, wusste er das leider nicht einmal. Schaut man sich die Zutaten ganz genau an, bleiben laut Speisekarte letztendlich kaum Gerichte übrig, die von Haus aus wirklich vegetarisch sind. Es ist ehrlich gesagt ziemlich ärgerlich und ein Stück weit dreist, Speisen so falsch zu deklarieren, wenn das Personal nicht einmal geschult ist. Zwar besteht theoretisch die Möglichkeit, bei den normalen Fleisch- oder Fischgerichten die tierischen Komponenten wegzulassen – zum Beispiel beim Salat, bei Nudeln oder der Pizza. Wenn man dann allerdings für einen Salat ohne Fleisch teilweise um die 20 € zahlt, muss das am Ende jeder für sich selbst entscheiden, ob das ein faires Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis ist. Nach einigem Suchen, Erklären und einer längeren Wartezeit habe ich dann doch noch eine Alternative gefunden. Die Pizza war am Ende komplett solide und geschmacklich völlig in Ordnung. Fazit: Wer keine Einschränkungen beim Essen hat, findet hier ein schönes Restaurant mit tollem Service. Für Vegetarier ist die irreführende Kennzeichnung der Gerichte allerdings sehr schade und frustrierend, da die tatsächliche Auswahl quasi nicht vorhanden ist, sofern man nicht teure Kompromisse eingehen möchte. Für Veganer ist außer Tomatensuppe nichts vorhanden.

Einfach immer lecker und perfekt organisiert.

Auf Empfehlung der Gastgeber unser Ferienwohnung eingekehrt. Sehr ansprechend gestaltetes Lokal und Terrasse. Freundlicher, lockerer Empfang. Wir bestellten 2mal Pizza. Ich wünschte Thunfisch und Knoblauch zusätzlich auf meiner, was jeweils mit 3 Euro zu Buche schlug... Meine Frau hatte eine Spinat Pizza auf der sich normal immer Knoblauch befindet, wurde auf Nachfrage auch bestätigt. Als kostenlose Vorspeise gab es ein paar Scheiben Weißbrot mit einem Schälchen Quark. Das Weißbrot gab nicht viel her, ebenso wenig der Quark, zumal ein schwarzes Haar oben auf dem Quark lag. (Leider nach dem probieren erst gesehen, hatte meine Sonnenbrille mit Stärke abgelegt).Haben wir dem Kellner mitgeteilt und es wurde ein neues Schälchen angeboten, was wir ablehnten. Meine Pizza war in Ordnung, der geforderte Knoblauch, war in ein paar Stücken auf der Pizza verteilt, hätte mit Knoblauchöl gerechnet. Bei meiner Frau, war auf der Spinat Pizza nichts von Knoblauch zu riechen, zu schmecken oder zu sehen. Vielleicht haben wir das falsche bestellt und wären mit Wein und Garnelen besser bedient gewesen, aber so war es nicht zufriedenstellend und zudem zu teuer.

Das ist unser absolutes STAMMRESTAURANT. Immer super tolles Essen, mega nettes Ambiente und super liebe und nette Bedienung. Wir lieben 🫶 es einfach total. Das ist auch die Fahrt mit der Fähre über den Rhein wert 👍👍👍

Wir waren spontan Mittags dort. Auch ohne Reservierung (Vatertag und es war sehr gut besucht) hat man uns sehr freundlich begrüßt und wir konnten noch einen Tisch bekommen. Das Essen war wirklich hervorragend. Wir haben selten so eine gute Spargelcreme-Suppe und hervorragendes Bruscetta gegessen. Auch der Salat dela Chef war ein Genuss. Auch der Pinot Grigio war sehr gut. Besonders können wir den freundlichen und zuvorkommenden Service empfehlen. Alle Mitarbeiter waren herzlich und hatten Freude an ihrer Arbeit. Gerne wieder

Das Essen war hervorragend und die Bedienung sehr hilfsbereit. Ich habe trotz vollem Restaurant ohne Reservierung einen Tisch bekommen. Absolut empfehlenswert!

Ein kleines Stück Italien oberhalb von Linz. Sehr überdurchschnittlich nettes und aufmerksames Personal. Spitzen Essen ! Sehr frisch. Wir gehen immer wieder gerne dorthin. Ich kann Da Franco bestens empfehlen. Im Sommer schöne Terrasse mit Blick über die Stadt und das Rheintal.

Schönes Restaurant in der Altstadt von Linz. Leckeres Essen unf angemessen Preise.

Wir waren zu dritt dort und hatten reserviert. Das war auch absolut die richtige Entscheidung, denn es war auch sehr voll, was ja prinzipiell immer ein gutes Zeichen ist. Zum Service: Der Service war wirklich sehr aufmerksam und hat sich über den ganzen Abend hervorragend um uns gekümmert. Wirklich sehr freundlich, schnell und engagiert! Selten so gut erlebt. Chapeau an dieses tolle Personal! Bei den Pastagerichten gab es (leider) das übliche, wie bei quasi jedem anderen Italiener auch. Hier hätte ich mir mal zumal in diesem doch gehobenerem Preissegment etwas anderes gewünscht. Ebenso bei den Vorspeisen...Auch standen die Tagesempfehlungen auf einer separaten Tafel, die leider von unserem Platz nicht einsehbar war. Einen Hinweis auf diese speziellen Gerichte gab es nicht. Leider zu spät gesehen, aber ich hänge mal für Interessierte ein Foto an die Rezession. Eine beilage in der Menükarten Elke eine tolle Sache gewesen, denn tatsächlich hätte ich gern etwas davon bestellt. Zum Essen selbst: Es gab ein kleines Körbchen Brot mit einer kleinen Kugel Kräuterquark als Gruß aus der Küche. Ich denke, das Brot war selbst gebacken. Fluffig und schmackhaft. Ich hatte zum Hauptgang eine Pizza Chef. Der Teig war geschmacklich gut. Die Pizza war knusprig und gut belegt. Jetzt kein geschmackliches Hightlight aber eben gut. Meine Begleitungen hatten Bruschetta (3 kleine Scheiben geröstete Brot mit Tomaten und ein wenig Mozzarella, Ruccola und 3 schwarzen Oliven, für knapp 10 Euro schon ein gewagter Preis), den Insalata Pollo und eine Pizza Genova. Der Salat sah gut aus und war wohl auch lecker, ebenso die Pizza Genova. Als Nachtisch gab es ein Zitronensorbet (eine Kugel! ) in Martiniglas mit etwas alkoholischen (?) übergossen... wir konnten es nicht identifizieren, und eine Portion Tiramisu, die zwar schön angerichtet war aber für mich als italienische Köchin nicht viel mit einem authentischen Tiramisu zu tun hatte. Aber auch hier hat es wohl gut geschmeckt. Alles in allem war es ein schöner Besuch, aber ich müsste jetzt für keines der gegessen Gerichte extra zu diesem Restaurant fahren.

The quality of the food was very good, the price-performance ratio was right, and the team was very friendly and accommodating. We'd love to come back; it was lovely being there.

A very elegant, upscale Italian restaurant. Located in a very pleasant, quiet spot in the small city. I'm overwhelmed by the restaurant's design and style. The service and the incredibly great staff are equally impressive. Very attentive, courteous, and competent. What was also super positive was that the Italians' temperament rubbed off on the customers, and there was a lot of laughter and conversation, and no one seemed bothered. The only drawback is the limited parking. But that's a general problem in Linz. Otherwise, very successful. Keep up the good work.

I was almost astonished to find an Italian restaurant in a place that is very popular with tourists that offers high-quality and quantitatively more than satisfactory food at reasonable prices. The service is absolutely customer-oriented and always friendly. Also fully recommended for larger groups!

We went here for dinner on a Thursday evening. Vitello tonno, the lasagna (with meat) and the pizza parma & rocket as well as the tiramisu were all very tasty and recommended. The service was very attentive and friendly. We felt extremely comfortable and can highly recommend the restaurant.

Very tasty food, I can only recommend it. I ate the bruschetta there as a starter and had the tagliatelle with venison goulash and red cabbage as my main course.

We highly recommend the tiramisu to everyone – we've rarely eaten such a delicious tiramisu! It's truly fantastic. The pizzas (salami pikante) were also delicious, but could have been a bit larger for the price! The service was super friendly and attentive. The interior could be a bit more Italian, but that's secondary to the delicious food. All in all, we highly recommend this restaurant. P.S. The drinks menu could use some non-alcoholic cocktails. Not everyone drinks alcohol, but they still want something special (not cola/juice/etc.) to toast with!

I ordered a Salamino Piccante pizza to pick up. My goodness, it's delicious. But you have to search for a long time in the area to find a similarly good one.

We had to change our plans for a dinner with 20 people at another restaurant at short notice. With a quick call to “Franco” we got a table for all of us straight away. We immediately felt welcome and very comfortable there. Although the restaurant was very well staffed, the staff were always on their toes from start to finish, friendly, attentive and always concerned about our well-being. We got our food from so many people at the same time. We were all very satisfied, enjoyed the evening and will definitely come back.

The food tasted good without being exceptional. The service was great, friendly and humorous.

After the Festival of Fantasy at Drachenburg Castle we were still looking for a restaurant and somehow we spontaneously ended up in Linz. So we ended up at Franco almost by chance and because the online reviews were consistently good, we decided to stop there. We received a very friendly and courteous welcome and - even though it was packed outside - we were given a table on the beautiful, large outdoor terrace after waiting less than two minutes. Here you will definitely have a beautiful view of the Rhine during the day. The menu isn't terribly extensive, but there's a nice selection of everything and something for everyone. The food was delivered quickly and tasted incredibly good. I also think these were the best gnocchi I've ever eaten anywhere. The service is always friendly and attentive. The price is also absolutely fair. A very clear recommendation from me. If we come back to Linz again, we will definitely be guests here again.

Auf der außergewöhnlich schönen, großen Terrasse, sitzt man an den sehr fein eingedeckten Tischen bestens. Leckere Scampis als Vorspeise und Seezunge als Hauptgang waren top. Sehr guter Service!

The ambience takes you back to the 70s. The location has been beautifully decorated and makes a clean impression. The staff is very courteous and attentive. You also have a view of the Rhine from the roof terrace.

Rarely good👍 and consistently!!! It's almost a shame that we haven't eaten at this restaurant in 8 years. Back then my wife and I decided on a pizza (oh what a surprise 😂) and it has remained firmly in our memory as one of the best. That's why we consciously chose a different dish this time to broaden our experience. My wife chose sea bass fillet with white wine herb sauce potatoes and vegetables and I chose a vegetable lasagne. And both direct hits!!! My honest opinion: I believe that no matter what you order here, you will always hit the jackpot. The chef of this kitchen is a true master. The same applies to the service area. The staff is polite, charming and cheerful, which contributes to a relaxed, cozy atmosphere, which is further enhanced by the wonderful ambience and the magnificent view of the Rhine. The prices are a little higher, but more than reasonable for the quality offered. Also worth mentioning is the particularly large guest room and the huge roof terrace, which can be free or covered depending on the weather. So it's also perfect for larger groups who would like to eat together. Anyone who chooses the Franco is doing everything right.

One of the worst pizzerias there is. It's better to go to the snack bar to get a pizza, at least the dough isn't a cookie from the freezer.

Very beautiful here . We were even allowed to come in with a dog, which lay very well under the table. The waitress was super nice and even joked with us. Everyone was super nice. Food really tasty. Good portions. Gladly again.

Today, as I have so many times in the past, I had an excellent meal at Gino's. Since I had drunk one glass of wine too many, I ordered a taxi to go home. After they weren't there after 45 minutes despite asking three times, Gino came to the door, got his car and drove me 10 km home. More service is not possible. Thank you Gino, one star for Linz.☺️

Such a great restaurant, warmly run by wonderful people who really know their craft. You always feel welcome. The service is exceptionally good, super friendly, the food is plentiful and tastes of the highest standard. We've been enjoying going there for years. After the increase in VAT, prices have increased minimally, but hardly the profit or the actual earned income of the restaurant has increased, which should be greatly appreciated.
