Very good steak cooked to perfection (e.g. 400g ribeye medium rare with a crispy edge and sprinkled with good salt). Tasty beers with good choices. Overall, only high-priced (but also high-quality) dishes, for example a portion of herb butter (very tasty but expensive) €4.50.

The food was delicious in a really nice atmosphere! The service was very friendly! Gladly again!

There were 3 of us there and we had the schnitzel with egg twice and the thick rib once. The schnitzels were tasty, but relatively small for the price, which is common at the moment. The vegetables seemed like frozen vegetables and were therefore really not an enrichment. We were very disappointed with the amount of Bernaise sauce. About the service: We knew what we wanted to eat and drink and had to wait quite a long time for the service, who often only responded to hand signals rather than asking independently. Both drinks and dishes only came after a long wait. My Creme Brulee was A1!

The service is friendly. The food doesn't taste good at all and it's quite expensive. When we brought it up afterwards, people responded insultingly.

We arrived and decided to sit outside since it was very busy inside. We had to wait a long time before someone got us the menus, we wanted to order but no one came to take our order so I had to ask. I do understand and I also saw that the waiters were very busy and overwhelmed, but it was not a really pleasant experience. The food was okay, the shakshuka tasted good!

The kitchen and service didn't have their best day. After we canceled the starter after over an hour (it was forgotten), the main course arrived relatively quickly. I wouldn't come here again for this meal. The schnitzels were greasy and tasted like old fat. Every snack bar does a better job of presenting the food. All in all, it was a relatively disappointing experience. We won't eat here anymore! Price/performance is definitely not right here, and the service also leaves a lot of room for improvement.

A German restaurant to eat and drink beer, we really liked it! It was a good option for Saturday night!

Price/performance is no longer right. People used to be happy to pay the asking prices here, but now it's no longer worth the money. At the company dinner, over half of the employees received the steak prepared incorrectly, in the wrong size, too late or with the wrong side dishes. This simply cannot be the case, even if an apology is made. The dessert was very tasty and the staff was friendly. Nevertheless, next time we'll go back to the Pfefferkorn am Wall.

Cozy restaurant, food was okay. The vegan (!) shakschuka was brought to the table with an egg on top. We were wondering why this is labeled as vegan, because shakschuka is usually with egg...well. Salad with chicken 20€ but PokeBowl with chicken 17€? Hmm, too bad... Beer was good. Right temperature and great selection.

We wanted to show our relatives the Pfefferkorn because we always felt comfortable in the Hoher Wall branch. Unfortunately, this is the stark contrast to this branch. Food was ok. However, the service here is not good. The waiter seemed overwhelmed and seemed annoyed and arrogant when ordering. Everything took far too long and the table wasn't cleared either. Furniture outside seems rather cheap. We won't eat here anymore.

All time classic restaurant with very good meat dishes! On the one side the food is delicious but on the other side the staff isn't the best and often unfriendly.

After 15 years tradition coming here before our trade show, we definitely were very disappointed this time. 30min for first drinks, 1,5 hour for our food and worst of all after 1 year of dreaming about it: “no schnitzels tonight” 😢

Waiting over an hour for your first drink should actually be given zero stars. To hear after an hour and a half that the food we ordered had run out in the kitchen is a disgrace. We'll never come back here.

Wir hatte Schnitzel mit Pfifferlingen, Rösti und Sauce Bernaise bestellt und bekamen Pfifferlinge mit Brot, kann passieren. Der Kellner nahm es mit und kam nach ca 6 Minuten zurück. Das Schnitzel und die Rösti kamen aus der Friteuse und tristen vor Fett, die Pilze waren kalt und Gummi. Bernaise war absolut geschmacklos. Schade und teuer

Unfortunately we were very disappointed. Service still okay, food terrible. Small portion, (mini) schnitzel from the deep fryer, chanterelles cold and oily, Bernaise completely tasteless. In the snack bar "around the corner" it tastes much better and costs half as much. We were there three-quarters of a year ago and were thrilled with the food. We refused the cappuccino on the house for the bad food, ridiculous as a way to make up for it. It's a shame, but that was our last visit there.

Sehr schöne Lage , Preise leider teilweise überzogen . Meine frau hatte Schnitzel, Preis war ok , Qualität nicht wie in früheren Zeiten . Ich hatte das vegetarische Gericht : Tomatensauce mit Zwiebeln , Paprika , Knoblauch , Gewürze für 16 € !!! Kein Reis oder Kartoffel dabei , nur zwei Scheiben Baguette . Portion war quasi wie eine Suppe, lecker , aber viel zu teuer!!! Steak 250 Gramm ohne Beilage 44 € !!!

Worst service ever, waited 30 minutes for one beer. Then when i wanted to pay it took 30 minutes. I had to remind the waiters 2 times just to pay. There wasnt even that much people, still took way too long. Really bad service.

French friends, some advice, RUN AWAY!! I ordered a chili cheese burger but surprise I found myself with the beast half alive on my plate... No joke, the meat was rubbery, it makes you wonder where it came from. As for the jalapeño "sauce", what can I say... a common piece of frozen cheese accompanied by an anecdotal piece of "pepper". We can say that with the lack of respect for gastronomy, you could at least find even an ounce of humanity with the service! But no once again disappointment, not a single smile hinted at by the whole team, fortunately the supporters (Euro) were there to save the edges. Not to mention the coke which is not a coke and what's more is served in a cardboard glass which makes the drink all the more unpleasant. A disgrace to gastronomy, a blatant lack of humanity. It was beyond rude! I definitely don't recommend this restaurant! The lovers kissed for a moment, after which a strange waiter ran to our table, he was hysterical and shouted at the top of his lungs that kissing was forbidden in this restaurant! She started accusing us of putting on an erotic show, but that wasn't true! For a few seconds it was just an innocent kiss! To say we were shocked is to say nothing. Afterwards, we tried to talk to these people properly, but in response we received an inadequate response and even more screaming! The rudest team working in this restaurant! We were at a loss because this was not the first time we visited this place and we never had any problems. It is possible that other people have already worked at this restaurant. But the one who sold alcoholic drinks at the bar was the rudest, unfriendly and, in our opinion, just the most unhappy person in his personal life. We wish everyone good luck, but we definitely cannot recommend this restaurant. If you don't want to get into an awkward situation, if you're afraid of being touched or kissed, then just don't visit this place.

Atmosphere was zero. We were the only table. Service was completely normal. But the quality of the food was unsatisfactory. I had a burger...one of the simplest dishes there is. But unfortunately the meat patty had to be frozen standard goods from the catering wholesaler. The brioche, which wasn't even one, but just normal burger bread, like from the discount store...not even fried until golden brown with butter or anything like that, finished off the whole thing. All of this, of course, for the price of 22 euros. There is no bigger screw-up than paying a lot of money for cheap wholesale goods. In addition to the bad taste of pressed meat (I only got two bites, the rest remained on the plate and hopefully ended up in the trash), the anger over such poor quality, overpriced food, it is a very sad event: A chef who only uses ready-made products no longer has passion. Doesn't feel like doing his job and just wants to function. Very sad; For me as a guest who paid a lot of money for a bad meal and for the chef who sends something like that out. How low do you have to fall to allow something like that to come out of the kitchen or even use a frozen meat patty? Where are your own demands? In the bin!

Liver "Berliner Style" with mashed potatoes, apple rings and crispy onions. Like grandma 💕. The sauce was an absolute hit!

Service was bad. I ordered a ribeye steak which came with a potato on the side. I asked for nothing on the steak and it came with about a pound of salt and the potato which I also asked to be plain came with this butter substance. I hate to complain but I asked them to take the steak back. They WASHED the salt off and gave me the same steak. While the other food was good this place was not very good overall.

Bad surprise with the fries. According to the menu, the fries cost 4.90 euros. When I paid, it was suddenly a children's fries for an outrageous 6.50 euros. In addition, the quality was really bad (cheapest convenience fries). When I asked, I was told that it was a gsbz normal price, and they now cost that much everywhere. Complete nonsense, I eat fries almost every day in restaurants all over Germany. And 6.50 euros would be very high for home-made goods, let alone for cheap frozen fries from the supermarket. Finally, I was told that they actually had wide streakhouse fries, among other things, but that they weren't delivered. Therefore, such a step is served at the same exorbitant price. Not a word of apology at the end either. Just: “What am I supposed to do?” When I receive a complaint like this, I expect at least one: “I’m very sorry, I’ll of course be happy to pass it on.”

Unfortunately I cannot agree with any of the previous reviews. Quite the opposite! I was out and about in Dortmund today and really wanted to eat something. Attracted by the “Schnitzeltag” sign (13.90 euros), I sat down. The waiter came. He spoke German poorly and was very quiet, but was friendly. I ordered the “Schnitzel Meran” and an Alster. At the beginning there was a salad plate. It was quite large considering it was a side salad. Based on the salad, I could actually have prepared for the rest. In restaurants that use sauces from a tube (whatever they are, they taste the same everywhere), cooking skills can't be far behind. Today, dressings are really quick and easy to make yourself thanks to the technical aids (chopper, hand blender). I would say that with preparatory work it wouldn't be a problem in terms of time. They can be preserved with vinegar and oil and can be made in advance. I don't know if it's worth it, but you might have something special on your plate. Unfortunately, the salad tasted like uniformity due to the dressing and was not seasoned. Some time (reasonably) after I had finished the salad, the schnitzel and fries arrived. At first glance both looked fantastic. The second was just disillusionment: some of the fries were in the deep fryer for too long and the fat in the deep fryer probably needed to be replaced. They look like homemade fries. Unfortunately, these fries tasted like nothing and were also kind of sticky. The schnitzel was really the bottom of the barrel. I maintain that I have never eaten such a bad and tasteless schnitzel. I'm really sorry. For the chef, for the restaurant and for the pig that lost its life. It was completely tasteless and I'm afraid no pan has ever seen the inside of it. If so, it was definitely not fried in clarified butter. Oil would be enough. It will probably be a ready-made schnitzel, because it didn't look breaded itself. The breading can really make you stand out from the crowd. As a tip: (If you bread it yourself) Season the breading. Maybe even with (some) garlic. Plus, I don't think it was a great quality meat either. I really struggled to keep eating it. Yes, I should/could have returned it. My problem is that it is then completely thrown away and I have something against food waste. However, I actually didn't eat it and didn't take it with me (which I usually do when there's something left over. My son or husband would have been happy). I'm really glad I only had to pay 14 euros for it. I think it's regularly priced at 23. THAT's really not appropriate for the quality and taste. Too bad. The outside terrace is really beautifully designed. That's why two stars and not just one. I'm really sorry! :-(

Top spot in the middle of the city at the Alter Markt, cosy and mostly classic atmosphere, good food and perfect service by a very engaged and friendly staff! We will come back!

We had dinner with two people in the evening. The service was quick, courteous and friendly. That food tasted good. One point is deducted because a reservation is only possible during the day and not at short notice, and it was not possible to reach us by telephone. Nevertheless, one thing is certain, we will be back.

Diesen Lokal war einmal eine gute Adresse. Leider nur noch ein Laden mit ganz miesem Service. So schlecht wurde ich das letzte mal 1987 in Ostberlin bedient. Frech, ja schon extrem unangenehm. Das Motto hier ist wohl :“ Friss, zahle und hau ab.“ Fußläufig gibt’s wesentlich besseres.

Wir wurden von einer sehr unfreundlichen und primitiven Kellerin - wir müssen es so formulieren, - rausgeschmissen - weil wir nur etwas Trinken und nichts Essen wollten, was wir allerdings beim Empfang schon gesagt hatten. Wir waren seit 30 Jahren treue Gäste des Hauses. "Wir haben genug andere Gäste und brauchen Sie schon gar nicht" war der Kommentar der Kellnerin.

There's no question that it tasted good, but I'm always very careful when it comes to toilets, and I have to say that the toilets here are very disgusting. I haven't found anything that was clean and didn't smell like a strong smell, and I work in geriatric care.

If I want good food, I like to go here. Especially in summer because you can eat outside. Prices are ok

Ich war mit einem Freund im Pfefferkorn und wir haben uns auf deftiges Essen gefreut! Wir hatten das Ratsherrenschnitzel. Dss Schnitzel war so frech und hatte sich unter dem Spiegelei versteckt, so ein kleines Schnitzel hatte ich noch nie! Aber danach passierte nichts mehr, wir haben eine halbe Stunde lang keinen Kellner mehr gesehen obwohl der Laden nicht voll war. Nachdem wir zahlen wollten, aber auch keiner kam, sind wir aufgestanden und haben einen Kellner gefragt, der herumstand. Dieser konnte uns nicht helfen, da er nicht für uns zuständig war. Sein Kollege fertigte gerade eine Gruppe ab, die bezahlen wollte, ein anderer Kollege buchte irgendwelche Dinge am Rechner. Also warteten wir noch eine viertel Stunde angezogen mit Jacke im Restaurant. Irgendwann ist mir dann der Kragen geplatzt und ich fragte den Kellner der mit sich selbst beschäftigt war, ob er uns jetzt nicht endlich abkassieren könne. Daraufhin eskalierte die Situation und beide Kellner wurden patzig, nachdem ich auf den überaus schlechten Service hinwies. So einen schlechten Service und so freche Kellner habe ich schon lange nicht mehr erlebt! Servicewüste!!! Ich möchte aber dazu sagen das es wirklich dem Personal geschuldet ist, welches sehr unprofessionell ist. Wir waren erst letztens am Phönixsee und haben genau das Gegenteil erfahren. Sehr höfliche und wirklich gut qualifiziertes Personal. Am Markt hat man uns das letzte Mal gesehen!!!!!

If the quality of the food could keep up, it might even be adequate. Unfortunately that didn't work and it doesn't encourage me to try it again. Very unfortunate.

If you're looking for a home-style lunch in the city of Dortmund, you'll inevitably end up at the Pfefferkorn on the Alter Markt and, in the summer, outside on the many seating areas. If you order from the lunch menu, the food will be on the table within five minutes at the latest, and the drinks will arrive before then. The portions are large and tasty, and the menu changes constantly. The prices on the lunch menu are absolutely top. Everything in this restaurant is always first choice: staff, service, cleanliness, just everything.

Nice location. Prices a bit high. It doesn't help that the waitress wants to force the guest to have the fillet steak for almost €40 several times. Also a dessert. Overall just too expensive. Price performance is no longer right

Super leckere Steaks, gebraten wie gewünscht. Sehr nettes Personal. Wer gerne Steak mag, sollte dorthin gehen. Glücklicherweise haben wir ohne Reservierung einen Platz bekommen. Ich hatte ein Rinderfilet und meine Frau ein Rumpsteak.

Frieten waren op, dus kreeg enkel een schnitzel en sla. Moest zelf vragen naar een alternatief. Bediening was niet vriendelijk. Bij het afrekenen gaf ik geen fooi, waardoor de ober sarcastisch zei “thanks for the tip!”. Geen aanrader.

Rustikale, gemütliche Innenausstattung, Personal aufmerksam und freundlich, Speisen schmackhaft und von der Menge her ausreichend, normalpreisig. In der Vorweihnachtszeit ist die Verweildauer leider nur auf 2 Std. begrenzt.

Wirklich ein tolles Restaurant mitten in Dortmund. Ich hatte einmal ein Schnitzel und einmal einen Burger. Beides sehr lecker, wobei ich den Burger eher empfehlen würde, ist aber beides Geschmackssache. Service und Ambiente super. Klar, es gibt günstigere Lokale aber das alles hat eben seinen Preis und ich fand den nicht überteuert.

Das Lokal liegt sehr Zentral am Marktplatz. Es war sehr gut defüllt und wir mussten einen Tisch vorbestellen. Dies war aufgrund der hohen Nachfrage aber nur für 2 Stunden möglich....leider. Aber egal jetzt, denn das Essen und alles drum herum war tadellos. Kann man ohne Bedenken sehr gut empfehlen.

Tolles Essen, super Lage, nettes Personal

Das Restaurant ist rustikal aber schon eingerichtet. Wir waren leider da als borussia gespielt hatte und Weihnachtsmarkt war dadurch war der Geräusche Pegel extrem laut. Der Srvice war schrecklich ein frecher Kellner der einen in der eile fast vom Stuhl geschubst hat beim vorbei sprinten und nicht mal sorry gesagt hat. Auch so war er sehr genervt und abwärtent. Das Essen war super lecker. Das war unsere Weihnachtsfeier und dieser besagte Kellern hat mindestens 5 mal im Laufe des Abends gefragt ob das Trinkgeld auf der Rechnung stehen soll. Das geht garnicht wir haben wegen des schlechten Services erst garkein Trinkgeld gegeben. Aber das Essen war durch die Bank sehr lecker.

Verschrikkelijk. We hadden gereserveerd om 18:00 uur. Precies op tijd maar er werd gezegd dat ze helemaal geen reserveringen aannemen. Email laten laten zien met de reservering en toen zei men dat dat alleen maar een verzoek is en geen reservering, ondanks dat er in de email staat reservering. Toch was er gelukkig plek. Bediening erg vriendelijk. Groenten komen uit een potje en vlees ver overkookt. Na 1,5 uur werd on verzocht om te vertrekken want ze hadden een reservering voor onze tafel? Hoe dan? Nu kon je dus wel een reservering hebben. Nooit meer, blijf hier weg.

Op zaterdag 10dec voor 7 personen geboekt om 20h we konden niet eens naar binnen omdat er veel mensen om 20h geboekt hadden,eindelijk een half uur later een tafel en weer een half uur later een consumptie,ik had een kürsten snitzel met röstitaler en champignons,de smaak was prima het snitzeltje kon je op de vlakke hand leggen zo klein..............

Ondanks de zeer grote drukte en volle zaak, een prima service en zeer attend , we hebben vlot het drinken en het eten gekregen. Zeker aan te bevelen.

Wir wollten vor kurzem , es war sehr ungemütlich draußen, einen Kaffee trinken. Das Lokal war total leer. Als wir bestellen wollten, gab man uns sehr unfreundlich zu verstehen, dass ohne eine Essensbestellung wir hier nicht sitzen dürften-die Geschäftsleitung hätte es so beschlossen. Wir sind dann wieder gegangen. Es gab auch kleine Ecken an der Theke, da hätte man sich bestimmt auch hinsetzen können,-aber diese Option wurde nicht aufgezeigt. Es war schon sehr verwunderlich 16 Uhr-alles leer. Und dann das😡Werden nicht wieder kommen.

Leider ist die Location altgebacken und nicht gemütlich, das Essen erweckte den Eindruck von schneller Fast Food Küche. Selbst bei den Bratkartoffeln hatte ich das Gefühl, dass Sie aus der Tüte kamen. Preislich passt es gar nicht mehr. 37€ für ein 150g Steak .. Das ist es nicht Wert!

Essen lieblos und nix besser als in einer Imbissbude. Chef, der die Gäste begrüßt, total überfordert und nicht patent. 3 Bedienungen die bis zum Limit überlastet sind.und das Preis Leistungs Verhältnis stimmt gar nicht mehr. Satt wird man zudem auch nicht.

Sorry, war schon in besseren Lokalitäten. Schnitzel mit Spiegelei und die Bratkartoffeln waren gut. Das Gemüse war mir persönlich zu "aldente" und wässrig dazu. Habe noch nie Gemüse auf dem Teller gelassen. Der Service war ok, machte jedoch einen mürrischen Eindruck auf uns. Doch weiß man nie, was da hinter steckt und deswegen ist das kein Vorwurf. Das Ambiente des Lokals war sehr gemütlich. Aber alles in Allem nur 3 Sterne von mir.....

Wir waren zu sechst im Lokal. Der Kellner war sehr freundlich und flott und aufmerksam unterwegs. Das Essen kam - obwohl viel los war - sehr schnell. Und es hat uns allen, jeder hatte ein anderes Gericht, richtig gut geschmeckt. Wir können die Gaststätte uneingeschränkt empfehlen und kommen gerne wieder. 👍🏼

Sehr leckeres Essen. Die Burger die hier viele bemängeln sind toll. Frisch und hochwertiges Fleisch. Auch alles andere immer gut. Ambiente sehr urig.Man muss es mögen. Aber immer suaber, ordentlich und die Bedienung stets freundlich

Essen war ganz gut. Kam schnell an und war lecker! Der Kellner allerdings Katastrophe! Der sollte mal an einer Höflichkeitsschulung Teilnehmen! Richtig unsympathisch, würde gerne wieder dort essen, aber aufgrund des Kellners wird das wohl nichts!

Traditionelle, im allgemeinen sehr gute Küche, wenn man keine "exotischen" Gerichte bestellt. Aufmerksames, freundliches Personal. Das Shakshuka ist allerdings nicht zu empfehlen. Verkocht.

Ruime keuze op de menukaart. We aten kip en varkensmedaillons en als dessert crème brûlée. Lekkere, verzorgde gerechten. Ondanks dat het heel druk was (vrijdagavond en kerstmarkt) snelle en vriendelijke bediening. Er kan veel volk zitten dus restaurant is wel wat aan de luidruchtige kant. Prijs/kwaliteit ok. Reserveren is wel aan te raden.

Gestern mal wieder seit längerem im Pfefferkorn am Markt in Dortmund gewesen. Sehr guter Service wie immer. Essen auch gut. Aber der Preis für das Pariser Pfeffersteak (Filet) in der 260gr Variante von mittlerweile stolzen 50,40€ (trotz zur Zeit noch 7% MwSt.) muss erst noch verdaut werden ...
