I went there on a Friday evening. I ate a really large portion of fettuccine with chanterelle mushrooms and pork fillet, along with a delicious non-alcoholic cocktail and a double espresso macchiato to finish – all for around €40. I felt very comfortable and really well looked after. The service was very friendly and quick. The ambiance was really nice (we sat outside). It looked very cozy inside, too, but the great weather tempted us to go outside. I'd love to come back and will definitely return. Best regards P.S.: The espresso was excellent 👍

Lunch at Pfefferkorn: The food arrives so quickly you almost think the kitchen has clairvoyant abilities. The flavors are solid, nothing spectacular – but they're honest, good, and filling. The value for money is just right. When the weather's good, you can sit outside in the middle of the market, while inside, you'll find a high-quality, real-wood interior that's rarely found these days. Those who appreciate solid cuisine in a beautiful setting won't be disappointed here – those hoping for Michelin-starred gourmet fare should probably move on.

We've taken advantage of the lunch offer twice so far. The food and service were excellent. We also enjoyed our family Christmas celebration here. Great, and thanks to the entire team.

We had a councilman's schnitzel and a vegetarian schnitzel. My wife didn't like the vegetarian schnitzel. It was bland and underseasoned, and obviously a frozen product. My schnitzel had a sour taste. The carrots, peas, and beans were probably from a can. The fried potatoes were soft. Everything was lightly seasoned. When I asked, the waitress and the restaurant manager offered to bring me a new schnitzel. I declined, and my wife left most of it on her plate. The surprise: we didn't have to pay for our dishes when we paid. A very friendly and proper gesture.

Incredible meat quality. If you want to eat meat, this is the perfect place. The chefs know exactly the difference between medium rare and medium. A small downside are the fries, which aren't great. The best thing to order is these fabulous rösti.

Some of the fried potatoes were burnt. It took forever to bring four drinks, and after eating here, two out of four people had stomach problems. Never again!

After being left sitting and ignored for 10 minutes in an empty restaurant, the filet ordered medium rare is delivered well done, and a burger patty ordered medium is delivered extremely well done. Sorry, a 6- for a steakhouse! P.S. The same problem at the next table, so no exceptions.

The Pefferkorn am Markt restaurant has a lovely outdoor area where you can enjoy truly excellent food in the sunshine. We opted for an excellent schnitzel with fries and salad on a sunny day. The service was quick, friendly, and very funny. Everything was just perfect. If you're looking for good food in Dortmund's city center, you should try this place.

Das einzig gute an diesem Ort ist die Lage am Markt. Der Service ist unfreundlich und das Essen wirklich schlecht. Die Sauce kam aus der Mikrowelle und hatte eine Haut. Ansonsten hatte das Essen wenig Geschmack. Dazu fand ich noch ein Haar in meinem Essen. Als ich den Kellner darauf ansprach, reagierte dieser kaum, nannte mir nur den zu zahlenden Preis und entschuldigte sich nicht einmal. Absolut keine Empfehlung

The only good thing about this place is its location at the market. The service is unfriendly and the food is really bad. The sauce came from the microwave and had a skin on it. Otherwise, the food had little flavor. I also found a hair in my food. When I asked the server about it, he barely responded, just told me the price and didn't even apologize. Our visit to Pfefferkorns No. 1 was a mixed experience. The quality of the food was okay, but by no means outstanding. At a total price of around 60 euros for simple dishes like pasta with tomato sauce, bruschetta, mozzarella sticks, a small tomato soup, a baked potato, and two small drinks, the value for money is unfortunately not right in our opinion. We still managed to find a seat as a group – the ambiance is good, but the food still has room for improvement.

We ended the last day of home games at Pfefferkorn's No. 1 on the market after the game because a nice spot in the sun was beckoning us and we really wanted a Brinkhoff's. I had the average reviews in mind, but I thought it wouldn't be that bad. Well, the beer and the sunny spot with a view of the lively, black and yellow market square were great. The food, however, was terrible – especially for the price. The schnitzel with frozen vegetables tasted reheated, the burger simply tasted of old cooking fat and was partially raw inside (not "medium"). The worst burger I've ever eaten (even compared to burgers in university cafeterias). The service was prompt, but also a bit complacent. In conclusion: a nice spot in nice weather, but (for me) only for drinks.

Unfortunately, this was by far the worst meal I've ever had in a restaurant. Today I went to the Pfefferkorn in the city center with friends for the first time and definitely the last time. All but one person had the cheese burger. The brioche bun was cold and rock hard, the steak was lukewarm. The burger patties were very “mushy”. However, the service is even worse, the starter was forgotten. Can happen when it's full... When we gave our honest, yet friendly opinion about the food after the meal, it didn't go down well at all. No apology, I can't bring them anything else. Simply NOTHING! After that we were completely ignored. A really super bad service! And best regards to the waiter, who unfortunately didn't give the impression that he was interested at all, probably because of the many guests who were coming anyway. Sorry that, as a pregnant woman, I asked whether the beer was really 0.0 or “just” alcohol-free. There is a difference because unfortunately they didn't know Him. In the Pfefferkorn “Am Wall” and also at the Phönixsee, the food and service are much better and definitely recommended. Today we were obviously very unlucky with our choice of restaurant.

Had reservations for 3 people for 7 p.m. When we arrived, there was no table available and we were forced to sit at a table for two right at the entrance, about 1 meter away from 10 people who were waiting for free tables. In my opinion, the veggie burger is really good. The staff ranges from arrogant to super friendly and hard-working. Despite the empty shop, we were seated at a table next to the bar, where work was going on incredibly loudly (dishes, cutlery, etc.). The basic cleaning of the toilets was taking place around 7 p.m. at the time of our visit - why? The climate and the smell were unreasonable and the way to the toilet had to be walked through centimeters of standing water. Cleaning is important, but not in the form and at the time. Sorry, but these are not circumstances.

I ate here for the first time today but the food was not worth the money. It was quite poor for what we paid. Worst of all, the waiter charged himself a 10% tip and when I asked if this was customary, another colleague came over. And they claimed that it is normal in Germany and I received a whole explanation why I had to pay this to the waiter. A bad story, but because the two of them went against me, I reluctantly paid for it. So if you eat here you have to count on an extra 10% of what you spend. Very bad!!

We were there this afternoon with a reservation for the family Christmas dinner with 9 people. Our expectations were high because we know the Pfefferkorn on Hoher Wall and have never been disappointed there. The service was friendly and attentive, unfortunately we waited a long time for the food even though only 4 tables were occupied. Except for 4 dishes, the food was delivered incorrectly, instead of fried potatoes, fries, instead of chops and thick rib, even after 2 x instructions, only the thick rib came. The princess beans were unseasoned and hard, the pork liver was burnt, and instead of the vegetables we ordered, salad was served. The Krüstchen and the Kinderschnitzel were ready-made schnitzels from the deep fryer, the champions from a can. It was cleared away and no one asked how it tasted. We had two of us who worked in the hotel/restaurant industry themselves and said that some things weren't okay. There were hardly any tables occupied, especially at Christmas. We could have had an espresso, but we didn't have time for that. Since some of us still had to go back to Frankfurt, we asked for the bill promptly. After 20 minutes, those who had to leave left and our nephew paid. Our conclusion: price-performance ratio is in no way justified, or totally overpriced.

Bad food and even worse service. We had reserved a table for 7:00 PM, and were unable to order drinks at the bar while we waited for our table. Finally we sat at the table and only after 30 minutes did we receive our first (and also our last) drinks. When we wanted to order the food, the waiter informed us whether we wanted to order quickly... nice, for a night out. .. The schnitzel was greasy and tasted like old fat and the hamburger meat tasted “special”. The service couldn't help but smile, and we felt like we had "too much" while we were picking up the food and we were not asked if we had enjoyed it or if we wanted something to drink.

The Pfefferkorn is a delicious German style restaurant. Traditional dishes are served here. Service is friendly, and guests can choose where they would like to sit. Those guests are mainly locals, as most ignorant tourists seem to prefer the more inviting but far inferior restaurant at the other market square corner. The Pfefferkorn is settled in a horrible concrete building, but inside, visitors found themselves in an old-fashioned German eatery. Highly recommended!

The waitress had difficulty assigning the orders to the people who ordered them; sometimes they had to ask several times who had fried potatoes and who had fries or salad with their dish. Cuando nuestras bebidas finalmente llegaron, el servidor las dejó sin una sola palabra, sin “disfrutar” ni siquiera contacto visual. A lo largo de la comida, se sentía como si fuéramos invisibles, y tuvimos que pedir tres veces solo para recibir nuestra factura. Al final de la noche, mi compañero, que rara vez se frustra, finalmente pidió hablar con el personal sobre su comportamiento. Sorprendentemente, respondieron con insultos e incluso comenzaron a golpear las cosas alrededor del bar, lo que se sintió agresivo e innecesario. I recently visited hoping for a nice evening out, but unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from start to finish. When we arrived, none of the servers acknowledged us, let alone greeted us. We waited for at least ten minutes without any service, which was frustrating as the staff seemed more interested in chatting among themselves than helping customers. When our drinks finally arrived, the server dropped them off without a single word—no “enjoy” or even eye contact. Throughout the meal, it felt as if we were invisible, and we had to ask three times just to get our bill. By the end of the night, my partner, who rarely gets frustrated, finally asked to speak to the staff about their behavior. Shockingly, they responded with swearing and even began slamming things down around the bar, which felt aggressive and unnecessary. For anyone considering a visit, I’d think twice unless management addresses the serious issues with their staff’s attitude and professionalism. This was not the relaxing evening we had hoped for, and sadly, I won’t be recommending it.

There were 3 of us there and we had the schnitzel with egg twice and the thick rib once. The schnitzels were tasty, but relatively small for the price, which is common at the moment. The vegetables seemed like frozen vegetables and were therefore really not an enrichment. We were very disappointed with the amount of Bernaise sauce. About the service: We knew what we wanted to eat and drink and had to wait quite a long time for the service, who often only responded to hand signals rather than asking independently. Both drinks and dishes only came after a long wait. My Creme Brulee was A1!

The kitchen and service didn't have their best day. After we canceled the starter after over an hour (it was forgotten), the main course arrived relatively quickly. I wouldn't come here again for this meal. The schnitzels were greasy and tasted like old fat. Every snack bar does a better job of presenting the food. All in all, it was a relatively disappointing experience. We won't eat here anymore! Price/performance is definitely not right here, and the service also leaves a lot of room for improvement.

We arrived and decided to sit outside since it was very busy inside. We had to wait a long time before someone got us the menus, we wanted to order but no one came to take our order so I had to ask. I do understand and I also saw that the waiters were very busy and overwhelmed, but it was not a really pleasant experience. The food was okay, the shakshuka tasted good!

Price/performance is no longer right. People used to be happy to pay the asking prices here, but now it's no longer worth the money. At the company dinner, over half of the employees received the steak prepared incorrectly, in the wrong size, too late or with the wrong side dishes. This simply cannot be the case, even if an apology is made. The dessert was very tasty and the staff was friendly. Nevertheless, next time we'll go back to the Pfefferkorn am Wall.

Cozy restaurant, food was okay. The vegan (!) shakschuka was brought to the table with an egg on top. We were wondering why this is labeled as vegan, because shakschuka is usually with egg...well. Salad with chicken 20€ but PokeBowl with chicken 17€? Hmm, too bad... Beer was good. Right temperature and great selection.

We wanted to show our relatives the Pfefferkorn because we always felt comfortable in the Hoher Wall branch. Unfortunately, this is the stark contrast to this branch. Food was ok. However, the service here is not good. The waiter seemed overwhelmed and seemed annoyed and arrogant when ordering. Everything took far too long and the table wasn't cleared either. Furniture outside seems rather cheap. We won't eat here anymore.

All time classic restaurant with very good meat dishes! On the one side the food is delicious but on the other side the staff isn't the best and often unfriendly.

After 15 years tradition coming here before our trade show, we definitely were very disappointed this time. 30min for first drinks, 1,5 hour for our food and worst of all after 1 year of dreaming about it: “no schnitzels tonight” 😢

Waiting over an hour for your first drink should actually be given zero stars. To hear after an hour and a half that the food we ordered had run out in the kitchen is a disgrace. We'll never come back here.

Excellent food, service a little slow , nice location on a warm summer evening.
