Maredo in Dortmund

We went out to eat yesterday with four people. Marko was our waiter...very friendly and attentive. The food was very good. We would love to visit you again.

We ordered our steaks medium and received them rare. After complaining, things didn't improve; the meat was still not perfectly cooked and of poor quality. I've never eaten such a bad steak in my life. The herb butter wasn't homemade, and the mac and cheese tasted bland. Not at all "spicy" as advertised on the menu. Only the grilled vegetables were okay. I don't understand the four-to-five-star reviews. We definitely won't be eating here again.

The staff was super nice and accommodating! The food wasn't impressive 😞 We usually eat at the Blockhaus. We thought it would be similar here. It was far from it. I had the 250g steak special. The meat was okay. The plate wasn't nicely presented. No steak seasoning, just plain pepper.... No other seasonings/sauces were served. My wife had the salad bowl. The croutons were apparently made from stale bread. The whole dish wasn't a hit.... What a shame.....

You shouldn't tell the owner what he wants to hear, because then he can't improve! Well, what can I say, I can only partially confirm the 4-5 star reviews from previous guests. The restaurant is very unimpressive from the outside, with guests being ripped off by lowlifes outside, which is further emphasized by the dreary interior. The pepper steak I ate, which was touted as a particular highlight, looked good to the eye, but you could describe it as stringy, the fries were bland, and the plates were relatively poorly presented... That's a different story! So a benevolent 2 stars for what I can judge (I didn't go to the restroom!) and the points I can award it. Service was OK, showed little interest in me as a guest, but whatever. When clearing away the table, the usual cliché: "Did you enjoy your meal?" I responded with, "Well, you can't expect miracles for a €25 steak, but it shouldn't be sinewy," and they politely ignored it. They gladly accepted the tip when paying, but... I didn't seem like a tourist, so a "come back soon" would certainly have been appropriate. Even a "did you like it?" certainly didn't come from their lips, despite the relative emptiness. In short, I think I can get better food elsewhere in a more comfortable atmosphere.

Super delicious food and a relaxed atmosphere. Our waiter, Marko, was very attentive and personable. We immediately felt at home and are already looking forward to our next visit.

It was very, very tasty and a compliment to the friendly waiter and the man behind the steak oven - a dream.

We came to Maredo spontaneously and just wanted to have a simple burger meal with fries, Ramiz sat us down and served us with our orders and it was great, the fries and burger were just tasty for what its worth. Ramiz our waiter was such a ball of joy coming checking on us and making us smile and laugh with his jokes. As a person who isn’t confident with his german I was very comfortable practicing with him. We had a great time and we’re definitely coming back! Thank you Ramiz :)

My boyfriend and I went to Maredo in Dortmund today for steak. We received a very friendly welcome. The food was perfect, the meat was tender, and the quality was truly amazing! For our sides, we had rosemary potatoes, grilled vegetables, spinach with a little garlic, and mushrooms in aioli. It was truly delicious and there was more than enough food. ☺️ The evening was rounded off by extremely friendly, even amicable service. That alone makes it worth coming back. Yesterday I ate with my Italian family at Maredo in Dortmund and we were served by Mr. Raniz. He was excellent at addressing customers, and his service was exemplary, which is very rare these days. Mr. Raniz served perfectly chilled drinks in clean glasses and the wonderful, perfectly prepared dishes in a very pleasant and communicative manner. He acknowledged our wishes and discreetly organized a great evening. Thank you so much!

The steak was delicious, as always, and the salad buffet was excellent. There's truly something for every taste. Even grilled peppers and other vegetables, which usually have to be ordered separately as an appetizer. The service was prompt, and the food arrived quickly. Our waitress, Nesrin, served us like her best friends and even brought a skewer of roasted marshmallows for our seven-year-old (on the house). Thank you so much! We'll be happy to come back next time we go to the Westfalenstadion.

Five of us were at MAREDO Dortmund for the first time and were warmly welcomed by Ramiz, who looked after us throughout the evening. We found the service to be very good – for example, when ordering our drinks, we were asked whether we wanted our drinks with or without ice and with or without lemon. Ramiz also informed us in advance which dishes were suitable for cooking on the hot stone (for grilling yourself) and which were not – to name just a few examples. The food arrived very quickly and we all enjoyed it immensely. We will definitely be back 👍.

Based on the quality and service offered, the value for money currently appears to be in need of improvement. Specifically, ketchup and mayonnaise were mixed up in the children's menu, and the mayonnaise for a side dish was not initially provided. The subsequent delivery was delayed, meaning that the food was largely consumed. Furthermore, side dishes for burgers are charged extra.

We were dissatisfied. The waiter made it clear to us that you can't even change the sauce. The food itself was okay. Nothing special, for example when you go to Block House. The steak here didn't taste grilled. You have to pay extra for mayo, there is no herb bread, you have to order and pay for everything separately. The water 💧 tastes like sparkling tap water for around 3.00. We'll never be back, we're totally dissatisfied and a waste of money. But the staff were very friendly and the service was good.

Ramiz looked after us brilliantly: friendly, funny, and prompt. The food was delicious. Unfortunately, no ice cream sandwich.

I was there for a steak tasting via mydays. The six different cuts of meat served were delicious, with—in direct comparison—distinctly different, both palatable and bite-worthy. A hot stone was used to mark the individual degree of doneness for each cut. Order: fillet, rump, ribeye, flank, tomahawk, and, out of order, spare ribs. There were plenty of sides and drinks to go with the meal; you have to manage your appetite a bit, otherwise you'll be stuffed too soon! Ramiz's explanations of the meat and his super attentive service made the evening a 5-star experience! Thank you so much, I'll be back!

The food is delicious – the Chateaubriand, which is served on a hot stone so you can adjust the doneness yourself, is highly recommended! Added to that is the extremely friendly and welcoming service from Ramiz.

One thing is certain: I won't eat there again. My wife and I were regular customers there. Unfortunately, on June 14, 2025, a Saturday, we were literally ripped off by a waiter. We looked at the menus and, as always, wanted to order something delicious. The food there is super delicious. The waiter didn't let us decide what to eat. He just wanted to recommend something. And of course, he recommended the most expensive meal and didn't even let us look at the menu. Then, at the end, when we wanted to pay, the bill was €56.20. I told him, "Make it €57." He looked at me and said, "No, no, we'll make it €60, and you'll get €40 back." Next time, you'll get delicious food. I always order steak with potatoes and get herb butter with it, which is fine. But this time, the herb butter was also charged. My wife and I ate there at least once a month, and we knew the waiter, and he knew us because we were there often. Unfortunately, I don't know the name. There were only two waiters on Saturday, June 14, 2025. The one who served us had a very strong accent and had been working at the restaurant for a while. I think it's a shame because the food there is great, but unfortunately, we won't be going there again. They simply charged me €3.80—very unprofessional.

Today, the two of us went to Maredo in Dortmund for a steak tasting. 6 different cuts of meat, each very good, simply fantastic. Side dishes to choose from, salad buffet, drinks; everything was excellent. Very friendly and competent, experienced service by Ramiz. We thoroughly enjoyed it, and the trip from Kassel was definitely worth it.

My visit to Maredo Dortmund was pleasant. The staff was super friendly and attentive—truly 10 out of 10. The food was good, but not the best steakhouse in Dortmund. Unfortunately, it's very expensive for what you get, and as a result, it's often almost empty. Excellent service, but the value for money isn't quite right.

We stopped in spontaneously for lunch today. We received excellent service from Ramiz, a super attentive and friendly fellow. There were a few minor complaints, but they were immediately addressed.

The 350g rump steak tasted great, juicy, and well-grilled, and the grilled vegetables were also fresh and delicious. However, I find €40 without sides and sauce quite expensive for this location. Sauces and sides cost extra, and the ambiance is rather simple. For this price, you can get a complete meal at other steakhouses. The taste is impressive, but the price is a bit on the high side.

Unfortunately, we were very dissatisfied with our visit. 1. The waiter mixed up the order – instead of the Caesar salad, I got a goat cheese salad. The best part was actually the bread – needless to say. 🤷‍♂️ 2. The service seemed attentive, but the communication came across as a bit over the top and artificial. Phrases like "a very special piece for you" or "made with lots of love" felt more unnatural than heartfelt. 3. For dessert, I ordered a lava cake. However, I was served a hard chocolate cake – no trace of a liquid center, as clearly visible in the menu picture. I sent the dessert back. They offered to replace it, but I didn't want to wait again. Despite that, the lava cake was not canceled on the bill. At the end, the waiter said, "See you next time!" – Thank you, but we certainly won't be coming back.
