Old Western in Rostock

Group of 8 people looked after fantastically by Zara. Kept us well supplied with beer and all the food came out together. Good menu with a variety of dishe for all tastes, and all 8 enjoyed it. Can't recommend enough if you are in Rostock. Good seating area outside which sadly could not use due to weather. Thanks Zara and the rest of the team for a great experience.

Während unseres einwöchigem Urlaub waren wir zweimal hier. Das Personal hat sich beide Male zuvorkommend und höfflich verhalten und fragten zwischendurch ob alles in Ordnungg ist, was es ja auch war. Die Speise waren allesamt einwandfrei und das Preisleistungsverhältnis stimmte.

I went there again with a great group of friends. It was once again very good. The food was delicious, and the service was quick and courteous. Even when we needed more seating, they helped us without any complications and made sure they felt comfortable with us.

Aber alle 3 rib- eye- Steaks waren zäh, durchgebraten, lauwarm und dazu das Knobibrot lasch, nicht kross geröstet und nicht die Qualität wie früher. Preis- Leistung war nicht gerechtfertigt. Wir sind Rostocker und waren enttäuscht.

We often go to Old Western restaurants. The food was always delicious, and the service was friendly. I don't find the atmosphere downstairs as good as upstairs, so this time we went downstairs. Even though I didn't like it as much this time, it was still good, and I'd definitely recommend a next visit.

We went to dinner for my 50th birthday. When we made the reservation over the phone, they asked if it was a special occasion, and my table was indeed set and decorated that way. A fantastic idea. The staff was very friendly, and the food was delicious. I also received candles, a schnapps, and a bottle of sparkling wine, along with repeated congratulations from the staff. All in all, this evening at the Old Western was perfect. We'll definitely be back.

Great service. My brisket was a little dry, which I reported too late, thinking the middle would be better. They then asked me if I was still hungry and what they could bring me as compensation. 5 stars for the service and my late notification. The drinks, wine, salads, and especially the food selection are highly recommended. Allow 5 minutes to find a parking space so you don't arrive late.

Considering it's a steakhouse, the first steak, ordered medium, was unfortunately overcooked and tough. After complaining, we received a juicy medium-rare steak after 10 minutes. Unfortunately, the side dishes were already cold or eaten by then. So, unfortunately, we can't give it a better rating, even though the service was good.

Highly recommended. Kind staff, clean, stylish place, good location, they have english menu as well. The cooking time is slow but worth the time.

Wir haben zu 4. einen Tisch reserviert. Dieses funktioniert ausschließlich telefonisch, was sehr mühselig ist. Die Dame am Empfang war sehr nett. Das Essen haben wir alle nicht gut vertragen, wir hatten danach Durchfall. Die Toiletten waren sauber, die Tische auch. Wir wollten gern noch eine Nachspeise bestellen, das wurde uns verwehrt, da der Tisch für andere Gäste reserviert ist, meinte die Kellnerin. Sehr unverschämt. Wie lange ein Tisch reserviert ist, darauf sollte am Telefon hingewiesen werden, aber nur Kasse machen, mit schlecht verträglichen Speisen.

After making a reservation by phone and asking about the availability of asparagus, the menu was confirmed and even reserved. 1.5 hours later we were there on time for our reservation. The waiter greeted us friendly and showed us to our table. Meanwhile he also asked us if we would be guests for the asparagus meal. When we said yes, the extremely friendly waiter informed us that it was now sold out.👌🏻 But no problem. 200m further there is a Block House which was fully booked, but made a table available especially for us. I have eaten here several times and have always been extremely satisfied. The steaks are perfectly grilled, with a wonderful rusty aroma, and are always exactly the desired degree of doneness. The area by the window is particularly beautiful. Some spots, especially near the toilets, aren't quite as ideal, but that's just a minor gripe. The service is always very good and attentive, even if the employees sometimes seem a bit stiff. Overall a great experience – definitely recommended!

I think things have slowed down a lot there! I paid €40 for a carelessly prepared plate of “Surf & Turf”. No decoration/no lettuce leaves, no pepper shaker for the steak, no herb butter. Everything just slapped up. The plates look very old and worn. As we all know, your eyes eat with you...?! I thought charging 10 euros for an Aperol Sprizz was borderline... The service was also nicer and more attentive, we didn't even ask if everything was OK or if we needed anything else. I expect a lot more for the money!

Nice western restaurant in the center of Rostock. You can take a look at Lange Straße from the window. The restaurant extends over two floors and is relatively simple, but overall quite cozy. A little more western flair would be good for the location. From the entrance to the table, the entire service staff was attentive, friendly, helpful and competent, high praise for that. We waited about 30 minutes for the food. The taste is really excellent. Large portions, perfectly prepared and at a good temperature. Small changes were possible and the staff were happy to implement them. A big recommendation for this place. All around a very successful experience for anyone looking for delicious and authentic American food.

On Thursday I spontaneously had the idea of ​​going out to eat at the Old Western with my wife on January 31st. Called quickly, super nice phone service was at the other end, a table was reserved [lucky in the misfortune] & hey presto we were on the mat on time! Service: We were welcomed very politely and nicely, the table for two people was well located, the service came to our table very promptly, brought us cards and asked if we would like something to drink.. Our drinks arrived quickly and we immediately ordered our food. Food: After a very moderate time [for me], about 15 minutes - max. It was 20 minutes] our main course arrived. There was kangaroo meat fried medium and also a rump steak. Both dishes with different side dishes. Both types of meat were fried on point, great praise! The side dishes and everything else were of good quality, unfortunately I (the husband) wasn't really full. Unfortunately, our meal beforehand was forgotten, but we took it with humor and it came shortly afterwards :). Ambiance: could look a little more like an “old western” to me but still stylishly furnished. Conclusion: We will definitely come back :)!!!!

Bisher, also gut 30 Jahre lang, war für uns das "Old Western" regelmäßig eine gute Adresse. Nach tatsächlich langer Zeit (ca. 5 jahre), hielten wir einen Besuch wieder für eine gute Idee. Leider wurden wir entäuscht. Modernisierung, Umbau, Ausbau, Optimierung, ... schön und gut, aber es hat nun einfach auch nur noch Bahnhofshallen- Kantinencharakter, wie leider auch viele andere Restaurants. Gemütlichkeit, geht jedenfalls anders. Die Bestuhlung wurde gefühlt verdoppelt, was zu Enge und einem extrem unangenehm hohen Geräuschpegel führt. Auch daß, was ein gutes Steakhouse eigentlich mit ausmacht, nämlich die hervorragende Salat-Bar, ist weiteren Tischen und Stühlen gewichen. Die Auswahl auf der Karte war sehr übersichtlich und die Rips schmecken schon mal deutlich besser. Offenbar werden sie nun erst nach der Bestellung mariniert. Für auf die Schnelle was essen sicher in Ordnung, aber dazu passen die Preise nicht. Sorry, das mußte sein! Bis wahrscheinlich nicht mehr so bald.

Wir haben 10 Plätze für den 01.02. zu um 17 Uhr bestellt, Oma und Opa hatten den 70.Hochzeitstag.😘 Am Eingang wurden wir freundlich begrüßt und hatten einen sehr schön eingedeckten Tisch. Der Kellner nahm die Bestellung auf und konnte tatsächlich jeder Person seine Bestellung ohne Nachfrage zuordnen. Das ist bewundernswert und zeichnet ihn aus. Der Service ist super und das Essen seit Jahren auf einem absolut hohen Level. Es schmeckt, die Staeks sind wie gewünscht und es ist immer reichlich auf dem Teller. Man schmeckt auch die Qualität des Fleisches, halt Pistol! Wir bedanken uns für den wunderbaren Service.

The staff were very friendly, the food tasted excellent and the restaurant was always clean. It was also very pleasant that we – five people – were served our food at the same time. The restaurant is child-friendly. A table reservation is recommended as it is often busy. Dogs are allowed on request. The ambience is modern and nice, although I had imagined a more western style based on the name - but of course that's a matter of opinion. Due to the limited number of parking spaces, it is recommended to park in the surrounding parking garages and underground garages.

Great food. Had reserved for a large group (parents and children approx. 34 people). Everything without any problems. We had a separate room, which made sense. However, 3 to 4 other tables were occupied by other guests. After we sat down, the manager came about 5 minutes later and explained to us that guests had complained about the noise. Absolutely unnecessary, thin-skinned and overdone (by the guests who immediately left the room as soon as we came in). If you specify 16 children when making the reservation, it must be clear to everyone that it will not be quiet. As a 'receipt' we were all allowed to wait almost 2 hours until we received our food. It's a shame, because the waitresses were nice. With such long waiting times, children (and adults) won't be quiet...

Today we took a closer look at the Old Western in Rostock, at lunchtime, for the second time 🤠. The way to the entrance area was initially very unimportant because the ashtray near the door was glowing (smoking) and smelled very badly, and there were also a lot of cigarette butts and other things lying around (blown/blown by the wind). When we arrived at the entrance area, we received a warm and inviting welcome including escort to the table . The ambience as well as decoration and uniforms (staff) is a combination of classic and modern Western style, the menu came quickly with a smile, nicely organized and clear with an additional recommendation of dishes. First of all there were classic chicken wings and mozzarella sticks with dip, delicious (always steep). Main courses consisted of a US premium rump steak + wedges and a salad with beef strips. The salad can be created to your heart's content at a wonderful buffet, with a large, fresh selection available. The meat was freshly prepared on demand and came separately and cooked exactly like my rump steak (English), which for me was one of the best in years. The staff was very attentive and prepared for every service (what a pepper mill). Decoration and cleanliness, as well as the toilet area, were very good, despite the busy lunchtime business. The view from our seats was simply great, thanks to the huge window wall that offers a lot to look at, especially for tourists. We felt very comfortable. The menu offers a lot of variety for anyone who values ​​quality and a short culinary journey. Guests with disabilities have also been taken into consideration as a slight ramp leads to the entrance door. There is also a lot of seating outside in summer that invites you to linger. The bar is also very nice and well equipped. Space is also available for larger groups. All in all we were very satisfied and will definitely come back.

Unfortunately, average food at best. We were there several times (mostly involuntarily with friends). The food is nothing special, not well prepared, just average. The prices, on the other hand, are above average and absolutely not justified. The service, on the other hand, is great, unfortunately the positive first impression was not confirmed by the food at all.

Went there for the second time, tested a total of 4 different main dishes and 3 starters and can say with disappointment that around 90% of the dishes had to be frozen. We are absolutely sure, especially when it comes to burger patties, most sauces, mozzarella sticks and potato wedges. However, the prices are absolutely outrageous and sometimes even more expensive than much better (although also very expensive) restaurants such as Blockhouse. I really felt like I was going back to my student days full of cheap frozen food here and unfortunately I regret at least 2/3 of the money I left here. There is NO way a rating of 4.6 is justified here!

We are at the Baltic Sea every year at the turn of the year and have often had our sights set on this restaurant. This year we visited the Old Western and after reading all the reviews we had high expectations. We were warmly welcomed and given a nice table. My wife ordered a fillet steak medium with French fries and I ordered a sirloin steak medium with potatoes and sour cream. The fillet steak was rather well done and the French fries were too short in the deep fryer and therefore rather "medium". It would be better the other way around. My sirloin steak was also rather well done and the potato was in the oven for too long and was therefore sometimes very dry. The sour cream was completely lost in the very small potato. The quality of the meat suffered greatly because the grilling process took too long. In addition, the eye eats with us, but unfortunately the plates were not as well prepared as they were pictured on the internet. We're much more used to it. The plates also look very old and worn. A house that sets very high standards for itself should at least provide good tableware for its guests. At least when you ask prices like that. My complaint was received warmly and I hope it helps to improve the quality. Unfortunately our expectations were not met. Maybe we were unlucky, but we won't visit this restaurant again.

Perfectly cooked steak, the food is simple, nothing complicated but it works, so good! They also have the friendliest staff from all the restaurants we went to while we were there. So if you are in Rostock and want steak, this is the place to go, if we not were going home tomorrow we would have gone back for a second time.
