Delicious food and wonderful hospitality!

Classic Greek 🍴 Restaurant! Friendly welcome, and Greek friendliness with ouzo! Good menu with many variations of meat dishes. Also highly recommended for vegetarians. Had meze (starter plate) for one and a 🍻 beer. Everything was very tasty, good portions and fair prices. Pleasant atmosphere and familiar, nice to sit outside here in the summer.

Not a gyros, but for me one of the best Greeks ever. Very friendly and accommodating, honest and of course very tasty. Always asking whether it tastes good and whether it is/was enough. I'm already looking forward to my next visit with you.

For 13 years now and again, as often as possible. Even if it's not exactly around the corner for us, we're happy to take the route. Every time we are welcomed in an absolutely friendly and familiar way. The food was absolutely fantastic from starters to dessert. Every time, as is typical for Greece, there is a small meze on the house as well as the wonderful pastries at the end. Janni and his Suli don't skimp on ouzo when they're guests. We recommend making a table reservation if you want to eat there on the weekend. All in one sentence: We love you and your team and are already looking forward to the next time.

We were there with five adults and one child. The staff was super friendly, all the dishes we tried were very tasty, and at the end there was even a mixed dessert plate on the house. We left Nostalgia full and very satisfied and are already looking forward to our next visit.

I had the pleasure of visiting the Greek restaurant Nostalgia in Ottensen after being invited by a good friend. It was my first visit and I was absolutely thrilled. Nostalgia is in a great location in Ottensen and offers an atmosphere that immediately conveys a feeling of well-being. The staff and boss are exceptionally friendly and make you feel welcome. The food at Nostalgia is simply delicious. As a starter, coleslaw and tzatziki were served with fresh flatbread - a wonderful combination that prepares the palate for the main course that follows. I tried the lamb souvlaki that day and loved it. The meat was incredibly tender and the portions were generous. It was one of the best dishes I've tried in a long time. A special highlight of the evening was the ouzo, which was always offered on the house. This gives the evening an additional nice touch and shows the hospitality of the house. To round things off, there was also a sweet surprise on the house - a successful rounding off of a perfect meal. The prices at Nostalgia are absolutely fair and not at all excessive, which makes the quality of the food and service even more impressive. A little note for future visitors: Nostalgia is a very popular restaurant, so it may not always be possible to get a seat outside. Nevertheless, the restaurant is definitely worth a visit and I will definitely be happy to come back. Overall, Nostalgia offers a wonderful experience and I highly recommend it. I always enjoy being there. It's unbearable how some people can't sleep because of envy. Always the hipster districts that terrorize the gastronomy. As if they didn't have it hard enough. The unemployed lawyers or failed livelihoods should be ashamed, move to Elmshorn. But unfortunately a great mirror of our disfavored and depraved society.

Best food ever. Totally recommended. Not only is the food incredibly delicious, but also the service. You feel welcome and comfortable. Try the Metaxa sauce - it's simply indescribably delicious!

The food was good, the atmosphere is rustic without a lot of Hellas kitsch. The lack of tablecloths didn't bother me; it reminds me of taverns in small Greek ports. The place is probably bigger than it seems at first glance. I found the heavy curtain behind the entrance door pleasant; you don't see it often these days, but it didn't pull at the front either. I would love to go there again!

Ein uriges, kleines griechisches Restaurant, im Herzen von Ottensen. Wir waren an einem Samstag da und haben noch einen Platz ergattert. Es war voll, mit guter Stimmung, ohne Glitzer & auch Gloria, dafür absolut ursprünglich und seeeeehr gemütlich -- ein bissl hat es den Eindruck, als würde man in Griechenland beim Griechen sitzen, ganz unauffällig und touristenfrei, dafür aber geiles Essen. Eben so, wie Einheimische kochen. Alles in dem Laden mutet dazu an, auch wie serviert wird und womit. Wir hatten kalte und warme Vorspeisen, mit allerlei Dips, dazu gegrillter Kalamari, mega, wirklich oberlecker, mit mächtig schön viel Knobi. Es gab frisch gegrilltes, warmes Brot dazu, damit zu dippen war weltklasse und ist ein echtes Alleinstellungsmerkmal. Mir ist in dem Moment erst aufgefallen, dass es das nirgends anders gibt, eine tolle Maßnahme, um nie aufzuhören, diese Leckereien aufzunaschen. Meine Freundin hatte einen Auflauf, auch der war richtig gut. Der Service war sehr aufmerksam und wußte immer, was wir brauchten. Preis/ Leistung ist ausgewogen und die Speisekarte gibt sehr viel her: Jede Menge typische Gerichte und Vorspeisen, also für jeden was dabei. Allereinziges Manko: Die Sanitäranlagen bräuchten dringend Zuwendung.. 😉 Und man rollt am Ende raus, weil es so lecker ist (auch der Nachtisch), dass man einfach alles auffuttert, das Leben is kurz. Ansonsten ein rundum herrlicher und lustiger Abend mit tollem Ambiente, gutem Karma und echter Vorfreude auf den nächsten Besuch!

Ein wirklicher Legendenladen! Wir sind hier mit der Familie seit ca. 20 Jahren. Das Essen ist jedes Mal ausgezeichnet (zu empfehlen zB Lammsouvlaki, vorweg Auberginensalat und Tyrosaganaki) und vor allem ist die Atmosphäre nett und sind die Gastgeber wirklich herzlich. Vielen Dank an das Team für dieses Juwel in Ottensen!

My favorite restaurant in Hamburg, the staff is very friendly, it is a small cozy family restaurant. Delicious starters and main courses! The lammteller(grilled lamb) and aubergine auflauf(eggplant in oven with cheese and metaxa sauce) are my 2 favorites.

Es war ein wunderschöner Besuch in diesem Restaurant! Der Service war einmalig ruhig und zuvorkommend. Wir wurden super beraten. Trotz, dass wir dadurch sogar im Preis gespart haben. Das ist mehr als professionell. Das Essen war auch alles sehr gut und lecker. Sehr zu empfehlen!

ich war mit einer Freundin heute hier und wir waren die ersten Gäste. Bis jetzt war das Essen immer gut. heute waren wir die ersten Gäste. Als Beilage bestellte ich Reis. Ich bekam die angebrachten Reste, die auch noch angegoren schmeckten. Auf Nachfrage ob der Reis von heute sein, antwortete die Bedienung, dass er das auch nicht wüsste. nie wieder!

Herzliches und leicht alternatives Griechenland in Altona. Neben den guten griechischen Spezialitäten ist das Ambiente sehr fein. Das Personal gibt einem das Gefühl bei Freunden zu sein.

War am 11.2.2018 da. Bin nicht einmal satt geworden. Viel Pommes, wenig Fleisch. Für 14.50 Euro? Lammspieß sehr klein, durchschnittliche Fleischqualität. Kalamaris ok, Tsaziki geschmacklos. Bedienung hat mich zweimal falsch verstanden. Kotelette fast nur aus Knochen bestehend. Toilette nicht sehr sauber. Bierglas nicht sauber! Nein, schlechter habe ich bei keinem Griechen je gegessen!!!

Immer lustig, immer unterhaltsam und immer lecker. Das Sotiris ist also unbedingt zu empfehlen. Preise sind angemessen und der Service super.

Freitagabend sehr voll - Reservierungen sind sehr zu empfehlen. Trotzdem bekamen wir nach kurzer Wartezeit einen guten Tisch. Bedienung ist sehr speziell, aber kompetent und aufmerksam. Die Portionen sind sehr groß und das Fleisch hat richtig tolle Grillaromen! Wir hatten ebenso ein vegetarisches Gericht mit Brokkoli und Schafskäse - sollte unbedingt probiert werden. Wir komme gerne wieder.

Das Sotiris ist einzigartig. Alle Jahre wieder seit rund 20 Jahren kehre ich hier ein, wann immer ich in Hamburg bin. Der Laden ist unverändert, das Interieur abgerissen und wie direkt vom Sperrmüll. Das ist unverwechselbar und authentisch. Das Essen ist geschmackvoll zubereitet, sobald man sich vom üblichen Grillfood abwendet. Die Lammkeule und Knoblauch Bratkartoffeln einfach nur gigantisch. Der Retsina dazu, köstlich. Ich freue mich schon auf meinen nächsten Hamburgbesuch 👍

Full disclosure: Sotiris is my favorite place to eat. I have been going there about once every 2 or 3 months for at least 5 or 6 years. My last visit was in April 2016. I am well acquainted with the owner and the head waiter nick-named Speedy. Still, I will do my very best to stay objective. I am certain you can find better Greek food in Hamburg, though personally I haven't found any (yet). Admittedly I haven't been looking too hard. Yet I can honestly say I have never heard anyone who has been to Sotiris say "you gotta check out XYZ because it's better". Still, I find the quality of the food fluctuating a bit. For instance, one day the (home-made) bread is fresh and warm and perfect, another day it's dry. One day the mixed entree plate is too die for, another day the various ingredients are too cold. So a bit more consistency really couldn't hurt. Anyway, personally I highly recommend the Arnisio (two grilled lamb skewers with sides that are a steal at 11,50 EUR), the pork skewers, the zaziki, the garlic potatoes, mentioned mixed entrees, and Torolu (veggie stew with Feta cheese). However, the food is just one part of the experience. There is also the atmosphere, which is more like a rustic and somewhat scruffy beach tavern. Especially when it's dark outside and the candles are lit, Sotiris is a very warm and welcoming place. I very much prefer that to the usual bright, temple-like look that seems to be the standard for Greek restaurants these days. Then there is the staff. I perfectly understand why some other reviewers have been put off a bit. You won't find devout, always smiling waiters here. Instead you will encounter dry humor that may get lost in translation, but is as genuine to Hamburg as the Reeperbahn. Personally I wouldn't want to have it any other way. Sotiris must be understood as an institution in one of Hamburg's most attractive and multi-cultural neighbourhoods, i.e. Ottensen. It has seen a couple of decades of gentrification, but under the surface its heart still beats. I recommend you spend a day here. Take a stroll along Altonaer Balkon over to Oevelgoenne, have a drink at the Strandperle. Buy some great food at the Kaufmannsladen and the Turkish greengrocer Afu across from it. Have a coffee at the Aurel, then head for a dinner at Sotiris and conclude the day at the fabled Familieneck and I am sure you will understand - and appreciate.

Wir hatten einen schönen Abend in ländlich rustikalem Ambiente. Der Service war unaufdringlich freundlich. Das Essen war sehr gut und das Preis-Leistungsverhaeltnis hervorragend.

Ranzig, weil alles, die Wände, die Stühle und die Speisekarten schmuddelig sind. Rustikal, weil das Interieur sehr einfach ländlich griechisch gehalten ist. Revolutionär, weil es den Anschein hat, dass sowohl die Betreiber als auch viele Gäste die Zeit Ende der 70er angehalten haben und in einer anderen Zeit zu leben scheinen. Das Essen ist übrigens nicht schlecht. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis o.k. Auf der zum Gastraum offenen Terrasse wird geraucht. Der Chef-Kellner 'steht ständig unter Strom'. Dieser Ort ist eine Feldstudie wert...

Sotiris ..... Well ...... It was quite an experience ..... A bad one, mostly.... Ok, maybe the food was let's say 'ok', and the prices were good, BUT ...a 'greek' restaurant with arabic decorations that the owner (or the manager, I wouldn't know for sure) treats a GREEK customer (that goes for the first time and very excited) like a nobody ... well ... for sure I wouldn't go back .... I haven't experienced so rude behavior EVER. And even though I called from the hotel to do a reservation and told me it wasn't needed, I got there and they told me they were full booked. I waited (even though I should have left) and I sat with other 2 people I didn't know, after being asked -in greek- 'so,what do you want?' (!!!!!). They told me they'll change my seat later but didn't. Awful smell and treatment. Talk about 'greek hospitaliy' ... oh well ... I'm guessing the participation (and publicity) from Adam Bousdoukos (Soul Kitchen movie) didn't help much, or if it did (as in my case) it won't help in the future. They need to learn some manners !!!!!

Hier gibt es original griechische Küche stets frisch zubereitet. Der Retsina Hauswein ist sehr empfehlenswert. Der Service ist mal sehr aufmerksam und mal durchschnittlich, abhängig davon welches Mitglied des Familienbetriebes den Tisch betreut. Das Ambiente ist einmalig, so richtig zum Wohlfühlen, um mit Freunden aus dem Viertel (Ottensen) einen netten Plauderabend bei gutem Essen und Kerzenschein zu verbringen.

Ich bin immer sehr gerne ins Sotiris gegangen. Das Sotiris ist sehr bekannt und hat viele Stammgäste. Fast möchte man meinen, dass sich der betreieber des Restaurants zu sehr auf den "Selbstläufer Sotiris" verlässt, denn Wert auf einen freundlichen Service wird hier schon lange nicht mehr gelegt. Habe es bereits mehrfach erlebt, dass Gäste unfreundlich behandelt oder sogar angeschnauzt werden. Nichtdestotrotz ist die Küche und die gemütlich-urige Einrichtung des Restaurants besonders hervorzuheben.
