nola - homemade fried chicken in Berlin

The food is very good! However, I'm disappointed with the service and the owner... time and time again, so I'm leaving this feedback. With that kind of 'customer service,' I would have never come back. I still make an exception for Nola occasionally, but it hurts and takes a lot of willpower. It's a real shame!

Food was decent, good service and everything arrived fairly quick. The chicken wings are well cooked but nothing special; the batter is slightly too sweet without enough spice to balance it out. Pickle was fresh but not enough flavour in general. Biscuit was probably the best part of the meal, well made and not clawing. The home iced tea was not what was expected, it is not a typical sweet tea but a drier reddish tea with ice added. Not too bad overall but overpriced for what was offered and certainly not traditional NOLA cooking

The place seems to specialize more in takeout; we had the Louisiana salad. There was very little chicken, a lot of breading, and just a hint of blue cheese in the yogurt sauce. At €14.80, it's not good value for money. Plus, you sit in a rather drab diner-like atmosphere...

Most authentic flavoured fried chicken joint in Germany. The buttermilk biscuit is an absolute must, on par with the best you'd find in the US. Amazing selection of hot sauces as well. Can only recommend!

It’s nice, but not mind-blowing. The mashed potatoes with gravy are a wonderful addition to the menu. The classic chicken wings were alright. Homemade pickles were great. Overall, it’s worth trying out once, but if you’re a fan of Korean style fried chicken like me then this restaurant might not me the best option for you.

So good! The chicken was amazing- crispy and juicy - and the sauce was phenomenal.

Was really excited to try this place after seeing how nice the photos looked like. The drinks, the fries and the dips were all very nice. Sadly I was really disappointed by the chicken. Tried both the classic chicken wings and the buffalo hot chicken wings and they were both way too oily. Especially the buffalo ones were literally sitting in half a cm of red oil, no buffalo sauce, were of course because of that very soggy and in my opinion a very big miss.

at least make a sign or a post or sth when your shop is closed on a day where it is said to be open. no phone number nothing. if you chose this place you risk wasting your time, coming for nothing

Extremely good chicken sandwich. Probably the best in Berlin. But the service and the price don't match. Wayy too expensive (14€ for a fully loaded chicken sandwich) and the vibe could improve. Also, don't order the coleslaw.

Chicken sandwich and ranch was tasty but the sandwich was quite small. The buffalo chicken tenders were rather disappointing. the cornflake breading was not well seasoned, it wasnt really a buffalo flavor… and the taste of the cornflakes was too strong. they would be better with a flour or batter breading rather than cornflakes. Unfortunately it was very overpriced as well.

I came here based on positive reviews and the pictures and was not disappointed. I received a very friendly welcome and even better advice. I rarely choose my food based on someone else's input, so luckily I got positive advice here. All the terms I didn't know were explained to me, and the dips were presented to me according to my preferences and were very interesting and delicious. For the quality and, above all, the service, the price was more than reasonable, although it was still very intensive but more than fair. I paid €40 for the food in the picture plus two drinks. I'll be back whenever I'm in Berlin. Thanks to Nola and the motivated staff or boss? :D

Disrespectful Staff – Unprofessional Behavior Toward Delivery Riders I work as a delivery rider and went to pick up an order from NOLA Homemade Fried Chicken. The staff told me to wait while the order was being prepared, which is normal. Since I was wearing my motorcycle helmet, I took it off and placed it gently on the table. Suddenly, one of the staff members rudely shouted at me, saying I was making the place dirty and that they are not getting paid to clean after me. Seriously? We delivery riders are not getting paid either when we have to wait 10–15 minutes for late orders. If you don’t want us waiting, then have the orders ready on time. This kind of disrespectful attitude is not acceptable. We’re here doing our job just like you. Restaurants should treat delivery workers with basic respect — without us, your orders don’t get delivered.

It's hard to put into words how disappointed I am. I can only talk about the mac and cheese; it was the worst overpriced thing I've ever been sold. I wasn't really expecting much, but I was still disappointed. Never again!

Super friendly service and the chicken tenders were amazing!

The food was alright. We had the normal chicken, spicy chicken, mashed potatoes, fries. And the fries were very nice but everything else was mid. The chilli chicken was spicy but not yummy spicy just spicy it was the normal chicken dunked in chili flakes thats it no extra flavor and that killed the chicken. The chicken generally was corn chicken. Thats to everyones own taste but it wasnt mine. The mashed potatoes were bland quite disappointing. The food was very expensive. I ate at block house for less.

I was kind of surprised at some of the comments in the negative reviews. While I would readily admit that this style of chicken isn't for everyone, the place is delivering exactly what they describe it to be: Louisiana style chicken. I've been to Louisiana, this is what it's supposed to taste like. * Some of the negative reviews are pretty obviously astroturfed. A competitor? Who knows, but take them with a grain of salt. * Many people complained about the pricing. You're getting corn fed bio chicken which is not cheap. The pieces of meat are quite large too so you may only get x pieces of chicken, but they are big. * My only real complaint is the location. Sitting outside with Torstrasse 2 meters away is not fun. At least for me, I always eat inside because of the street noise combined with the bro crowd at the restaurant next door that think it's entertaining to race their Ferrari engines to show off. * Get the mac and cheese or the mashed potatoes as your side. You can get french fries anywhere.

Best Chicken Place in Berlin with a wide variety of sides, all homemade. The difference between this place and other chicken places is that they do all food from the scratch by themselves. Many forget here!

I ordered the chicken tenders and the chicken bun. Unfortunately, I felt unwell afterwards — nausea and stomach discomfort that lasted into the next couple of days.

We were initially quite impressed by the ambiance and thought we'd discovered a good place. The Nashville wings were very spicy and lacked any flavor. The fries were bland and bitter. Overall, it wasn't a good experience for us, and we won't be coming back. We didn't think the price-performance ratio was right.

I had heard about Nola and the legendary wings before, and I noticed the place as I was walking by. Even though we had planned to meet somewhere else, I had to try the Nashville Hot Wings - and what luck! The quality was absolutely top. Many stores thrive on hype, but Nola delivers real substance. The wings were quite spicy - definitely not for the faint of taste buds - but the chicken itself was juicy, high quality and perfectly prepared. The owner was super friendly and really took his time. I'll definitely come back - and then work my way through the rest of the menu.

I paid 6€ for the most basic milkshake and 12€!! for the most basic chicken burger. They sell you a nice image but the food is totally overpriced and tastes just soooo basic

Tried the nashville wings, mash and gravy and nola fries. The wings were just spicy and had no pleasant flavour to it, and no salt. Loved the fries and mash&gravy though

My absolute favorite place in Berlin. Started as a pop-up years ago what makes it kind of special (even for Berlin!). The owner is the coolest Flavor Maestro when its about Wings&Wine (and Ribs, and Mac and Cheese on Wednesdays....)! A visit to Berlin wouldn't be complete without Nola

Take advantage of the lunch offer. The chicken sandwich was super tasty. The fries were very good. Price performance for the offer with a drink was right. In my opinion, prices for the dips are too high at over one euro.

I have ordered many times and have never been disappointed! The best chicken for my taste. Red cabbage salad is also really good and mash n gravy is also great! ❤️ Chicken tenders have also been available recently - > Absolute blast, my favorite on the menu! A quick note at the end: "Nashville Hot" is really, really hot :-) I personally prefer to stick with the normal versions, they're really good! Oh, and for me the price/performance ratio is totally fine given the quality you get. And for the other comments like "Fries were bitter", or "Red cabbage salad had no acid", etc. > please read what you order. The fries are from the Linda potato, which has flavor and is not the McDonald's a-hole potato that they make their fries from. The red cabbage salad also says that it has vegan mayo and no vinegar. Very tasty for me because of the natural, good taste. I'd rather pay a little more for relatively good food than not necessarily cheaply for really bad food.

It was a nice stay, delicious food, home-made fries, delicious chicken sandwich (definitely recommended to have it with cucumbers), 2 tofu sandwiches, very tasty. The crowning glory was a banana pudding to kneel down on. Thanks again to the bartender for the recommendation. The ambience takes some getting used to, but it's actually nicely done, only the smell from the kitchen lingers on your clothes for a long time... Next time we'll take pictures too...

I had the store on the list for a long time based on a recommendation from a YouTube video. To put it briefly. Coleslaw had no acid that you needed Fries taste very bitter The burger was nothing special except for the chicken The chicken itself is really juicy The breading is good too The ranch dip was just cottage cheese with herbs For about 14€ 5 tenders 12€ for the burger And €6 for the coleslaw I really didn't think it was good value for money

I'm not a big burger fan, but this place really impressed me! The burger was incredibly tasty – juicy, fresh and with great ingredients. The flavor combinations were perfectly balanced and even I, a burger skeptic, was left wanting more.

This place had the potential of being “the chicken shop” in Mitte but will sadly end up closing because of bro-bad-service and out-of-touch ideas such as: charging 2€ per sauce, no tap water and spicier-than-hell kind of wings. Rather go to Yarok around the corner… they could teach this guy some hospitality.

- There is no tap water - Every sauce costs 1,70 euros and the portions are tiny - The chickens were way too spicy (even for a spice lover) - For some reason it wasn’t possible to order chicken WITHOUT mash

We liked the place and the chicken. I disagree with some of the negative comments I read below about the quality of the chicken. It was very good. However I will not give a 5 star because it is simple way too expensive. 18,5€ for a plate of fried chicken & mash… in total we payed 60€ and had only one main dish (for 2 people). So if you are ready to pay the price, go for it, I recommend!

If you are looking for something really unique near Rosenthaler Platz and love dishes with chicken, you will find it here: There are various chicken dishes, but also meatless ones, and the taste leaves no doubt that everything is homemade. The quality of the chicken is also excellent! And if you're still hungry afterwards, you should definitely try the banana pudding, which is probably only available here in Berlin: wonderfully creamy and not too sweet. The prices are completely reasonable and the advice is very competent and friendly. We'll definitely be back!

Ordered through Uber. Food was absolutely disgusting. The fries tasted like old oil. Even the coleslaw and biscuit that came as sides to the veal ribs tasted terrible - just like the ketchup! I will never order at this restaurant again. Delivery took 1h15m and Uber only refunded 30% after complaining. Better stay away!

It is totally not worth it… Expensive and also very bland tastes. I had the chicken sandwich and the buffalo chicken tenders with ranch sauce (which did not taste like buffalo at all and the ranch isn’t even ranch). Almost every sauce costs extra. So many better alternatives out there in Berlin!

Not only is this way overpriced for what it is, the chicken is also completely inedible. It's the cheapest near quality you can get. The wings have broken chopped up bones inside and the flesh is super fatty. The Nashville wings are soaked in oil. It's just really disappointing that we paid 50€ for 2 people and we're not going to eat.

Excellent fried chicken. Very authentic southern USA style. The ribs and biscuit are also very good. Beware, the Nashville wings are extremely spicy.

*Update Second Visit* This time, I had the burger. Absolutely delicious. The spice level is excellent. The chicken so juicy and the bun so fresh. I love it. I loved my experience here. I came for the wings and I tried the smallest portion as I wasn’t sure if I could handle the spices. Well, I could. And I regret not ordering a bigger portion. So juicy, so crispy. So full of flavor. Loved it. The people are also super friendly. I’ll keep visiting

This is the best fried chicken in Berlin. The seasoning was beautiful, not too salty but extremely tastey. The biscuit was basically butter, same with the mash, give me more please. Next time I will try the banana pudding for sure! The owner was very helpful and kind.

I don't normally write reviews, but I really have to say something here. We ordered via Uber. It started with two sauces: organic ketchup – it was already sour and even had mold on it. Then the Louisiana Hot Sauce - the bottle was totally dirty, and it wasn't a bit of fresh dirt, it was ancient. Then we ordered classic wings, and they were anything but fresh. We've never seen such hairy wings before - really disgusting. All the food was gone and we threw everything in the trash. One star is actually too many.

NOLA - sehr zu empfehlen! Das Essen fein hergerichtet, lecker, vielseitig. Der Gastgeber/Inhaber umsichtig, sehr aufmerksam, nicht aufdringlich. Guter Service. Die Atmosphäre richtig entspannt. Schöner Gastraum - zum Wohlfühlen!

Burgers are very tasty - and above all, in the beautiful atmosphere with the old bar and selection of drinks, you can also have 1-2 delicious beers or a glass of wine with your meal! Gladly again!

hier gibt es Fried Chicken im New-Orleans-Style. Ich hatte ein Chicken Sandwich - sehr lecker! Ich hatte alle Extras geordert, und dann wird das wirklich eine scharfe, aber auch sehr leckere Nummer. Lediglich ein wenig größer hätte das Sandwich für den Preis für meinen Geschmack sein dürfen. Ansonsten eine klare Empfehlung!

Zugegeben, das Essen ist etwas teurer und die Art und Weise, wie angerichtet wird, kann man ohne zu übertreiben als schlicht bezeichnen. Entschädigt wird man aber durch sehr leckeres, knuspriges Hähnchen. Biscuits und Mash and Gravy müssen extra gekauft werden lohnen sich aber geschmacklich in jedem Fall. Funfact, es gibt eine mexikanische Cola, bekommt man auch nicht überall. Empfehlenswert ist auch der Bananenpudding auch wenn man auch hier beim Preis schon dazu neigt, eine Augenbraue hoch zu ziehen. Auf jeden Fall muss man auch die überaus freundliche Bedingung (Besitzer?) erwähnen. Insgesamt hat es viel Spass gemacht dort zu essen und Qualität hat eben ihren Preis.

I ordered the fried chicken with mash and gravy. When the dish arrived, I realised it cost the same as ordering the items separately, but with half as much food on the plate! 👎🏼. The food tastes good, but the portions and menu aren't worth the price.

This is as close to New Orleans as you can find in Berlin! I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and taste of the food. It was good, and I hope they bring in more New Orleans style food!

Overpriced and under flavored sandwich. Pickles and cheese both cost extra (the cheese is a single slice of cheese and they charged me 2€…). Hot style was extra. There are tons of more reasonable and more tasty restaurants in the immediate area and I won’t be returning here. Also, rotkohl is NOT cole slaw lol!!
