As an event agency, we regularly host groups at the van Loon Restaurant Ship. The food is consistently delicious, the service on the day itself is super professional and always friendly, as is the contact prior to the event. And the ambiance on the water is always a dream. We'd love to come back.

It had always been my dream to celebrate at VanLoon. So I decided on a milestone birthday. Everything worked out wonderfully. I received excellent advice right from the reservation stage, was able to adjust the number of participants right up until the last minute, and then the actual brunch. All my guests were delighted with the extremely varied, delicious, and consistently fully stocked buffet. And we enjoyed impeccable service. Thank you so much! I'd be happy to come again...

A favorite spot in Berlin – views of the water and the swans, friendly staff, delicious, lovingly prepared food that's truly special in its combination. I've celebrated there several times and have always had a great experience with my reservations for larger groups. Good to know, though: They close at 10:00 PM, which feels too early in the summer.

This is the second time I've celebrated my birthday here in a small group on deck. The likelihood of it happening again is quite high, because I wasn't the only one who enjoyed the food. Thank you for the wonderful time.

On a balmy summer evening in the countryside by the water (Landwehrkanal, Alter Urbanhafen) in the heart of Berlin, there's no way around the atmospheric ship restaurant "Van Loon." A small but very fine menu with delicious fish specialties, served by exceptionally friendly, attentive staff. Highly recommended.

The food is good, the location is beautiful—you eat right on a boat, which certainly justifies the prices. The menu is a bit too extensive; I would have preferred fewer dishes, but more refined and more related to the lake. As it is, an excellent example of a successful business model. Overall, 4 stars.

Had the all-you-can-eat brunch for €20 and loved it. Great mix of healthy options like salads and fruit, along with indulgent treats like pancakes, eggs and bacon, and mozzarella sticks. Perfect way to spend a weekend morning. Plus, dining with a view makes it even better! Reservations recommended. The inside seating was quite stained and old but otherwise great!

New on April 27, 2025: The brunch steamer trip on the MS Philippa was, as always, a lot of fun. Ship great, crew great, food great and the captain sails us safely across the Landwehr Canal and the Spree every time. I can only recommend this trip 😃.

A very nice place to have brunch with the family. We enjoyed the direct view of the water and were happy to see the swans elegantly swimming past. The buffet was very tasty and plentiful and was always freshly replenished.

It was very tasty, open kitchen - everything was fresh - but I would make the food signage clearer and make sure that everything is there that is on the signage or adjust the signage.

Very mixed experience! The Philippa is undoubtedly a beautiful ship for a private party. But unfortunately there were also many negative points: poor organization and advice, unfair price-performance ratio. Not to write a novel here, just saying - in the end I ended up as a stingy hostess who had to apologize to her guests. Embarrassing and and unpleasant! My points of criticism were only addressed with flimsy arguments. Disappointing!

We had an incredibly great evening on the ship Philippa as part of our company outing (45 people). The food was delicious, the service was completely unobtrusive, fast and friendly and the boat trip itself was an unforgettable experience for everyone. The ambience, unusual location for Berlin, nice staff, that's what appeals. When it comes to food, I think it would be more appropriate if you only had local, i.e. freshwater fish, on the menu.

A very nice location. We celebrated my birthday there with over 20 people. The brunch buffet was very tasty, the service was very attentive and friendly, and the rooms were great. It was a successful event all around and was praised by everyone. I can only recommend it.

I wanted to make a reservation by phone and an employee directed me to the website to make a reservation. Brunch is top as always. Service as always friendly, fast and attentive.

I have been a guest on the restaurant ship "Van Loon" for many years, beautifully located in Kreuzberg's urban harbor, with a wide view of the Landwehr Canal. The staff is friendly and attentive, the food is delicious (unfortunately a bit too “fish-heavy”) with a magical ship ambience. If you want something special, you should go to “Van Loon”.

Me decepcionó este lugar una vez más. El servicio era tan antipático que tuvimos que irnos antes incluso de hacer un pedido. Esta ya era la segunda vez que me pasaba. La primera vez, asumí que era solo mala suerte, pero ahora que ha pasado de nuevo, no estoy seguro de si vale la pena ir a un lugar con pescado con papas fritas sobrevalorado en un lugar aparentemente agradable, solo para que el servicio arruine la experiencia.

I used to enjoy going there, but unfortunately on at least two occasions I didn't have a good experience with the lady who assigned the tables. This spoils the entire experience of the location and takes away the desire to visit the place again. You feel treated very unfairly and disrespectfully. She even changes her decision when her colleagues have already offered a table to a customer, giving the impression that she simply wants to exercise her power.

Now I know why everyone said I should move to Berlin!

Unverschämt unfreundlichen Personal. Wir wurden mit zwei Kindern hingesetzt und mitten bei der Bestellung wieder rausgebeten, weil angeblich dieser Tisch einer anderen Dame ohne Reservierung versprochen wurde. Unsere Familie wird nie wieder diesen Laden besuchen. Kinder gingen weinend raus.

Far too cold and drafty for a restaurant visit. Ambiance is great, food tastes really bland and boring for us. But it can also be great for other visitors. Price performance doesn't suit us.

The food didn't convince me. The appetizer platter for 2 was really sparse, the shrimp was half raw and cold, the 4 small anchovies were ok. Fish & chips were good at best, but there was potential for improvement here too. Salmon on potato pancakes isn't a highlight either. Unfortunately, there is also only fish baked in batter. No other variants. All in all, nice location for coffee and cake by the fireplace. Service friendly. But we wouldn't come back for dinner. That wasn't convincing at all.

The Van Loon is alone a beautiful boat in a lake with swans swimming around, made a restaurant with 2 fireplaces imagine how special it is to go there? We love it, the Brunch is amazing, and the special occasions too (we booked Valentine and was impressive!) great food, great personal, definitely a place to lounge with beloved ones and enjoy delicious food.

Everything was great! It wasn't crowded even though it was a Saturday evening. Service very friendly and quick. Food and drinks also came quickly and tasted very good. The atmosphere inside the ship's restaurant is really nice and cozy. Would definitely eat there again! TOP!!!

Actually a very nice location. Unfortunately, the ventilation in the kitchen wasn't used and everything stung my eyes and the clothes smelled very strongly of smoke. Unfortunately, the special requests were not taken into account when eating and you had to wait longer for the drinks than for the food or the mayonnaise. I was so happy but unfortunately it wasn't quite as enjoyable.

Ambience great! Nice to drink a mulled wine by the fireplace in ice and snow. Children can watch swans. Top! Unfortunately, as is so often the case in Berlin, service is very improvable. No hello, card is only available upon request and no goodbye anyway... just a rude shout from the boss!? That the children shouldn't play. That's not how hospitality works. Too bad!

A very tasty and varied menu on Valentine's Day in a very nice atmosphere with a view of the urban harbor. The staff is very nice and leaves nothing to be desired. And even though it was really cold outside, it was cozy and warm inside thanks to the fireplace, just right for an evening like this!

Beautiful romantic spot in the heart of Berlin. We had a delicious dinner and lovely wine while watching the swans bob past the window. The open kitchen is a spectacle and the chefs were immaculate. The lady serving was very kind, helpful and informative even though we didn't speak German her English was perfect. It's so romantic my now fiancé got down on one knee outside under the fairy lights. Not to be missed if you're in Berlin!

Brunchy lunchy was good both in terms of selection and taste. The service was friendly, but the service was sometimes a bit slow. However, the small, knee-high tables are very inconvenient if you have to eat there. Sufficient to put down a cup but not good when eating. The view is great and the overall ambience is very nice and cozy.

The ship in the urban harbor is worth a trip. In the central nave you sit at approximately water level and can admire the diverse fauna. Overall, you get the impression that you are on a boat trip.

The price is rather higher, but for me it's not justified. The lamb's lettuce is old. I had käsespetzliu and the cherry tomatoes as a decoration were not a decoration. Fall apart. Yes, it's a shame because it's a special place. Sitting on deck in summer. Totally beautiful. On deck in the summer my glass was chipped and when I told the waiter he brought a new glass and tipped the drink over. There could have been splinters of glass in my glass!!! Very unfortunate!!!

I thought the food at our Christmas party here was just bad. Extremely dry duck, tasteless supper, salad without dressing, etc. The day before I was in Frankfurt at the Gerbermühle - in comparison it tasted good VanLoon like in the school cafeteria.

The second time for brunch on the ship. No wishes remain unfulfilled. The selection of dishes is very rich and tasty and if something is empty, it is refilled. Those who were there once want to come back. The atmosphere on the ship is relaxing whether in summer, winter, inside or outside.
