I always like to send good to excellent reviews. Unfortunately, I can't do that today. I fully understand if there are occasional waits due to large crowds. It would be nice if this was pointed out when ordering, then it really wouldn't be a problem. However, if I wait an hour and have already paid for a meal and a drink, and then, upon asking, I'm told there's no receipt, I honestly leave dissatisfied. Take the paid meal as a donation.

Well, there's still room for improvement - the food is OK for nature lovers or those who like a forest hut, and the prices are very reasonable. Sitting outside is nice, with plenty of space.

We stopped there on our way to Saarbrücken. We were a little hungry and almost drove past. It's like a forest lodge with normal prices. There are plenty of shady spots, the food is quite decent, and the shandy is delicious.

The place, especially outside in the garden, is beautiful and idyllic. It's certainly ideal as a stopover for cyclists on tour. Inside, the restaurant is simple but quite functional. Everything is mostly clean. The tarte flambée I ordered was very good! What I didn't like were the women's restrooms. In my opinion, they need to be completely renovated so that the current smell disappears. What I personally find abysmal is the way the ready-to-pick-up, finished meals are announced. The numbers are announced over a microphone system. However, this doesn't come across as a "normal announcement" to the guests, but rather as a sudden shout with creaking background noises. I found it absolutely awful. I've seen it in other (outdoor) restaurants where guests receive a small, round receiver, which vibrates and flashes when the food is ready.

We stayed two nights in a four-person room. The beds are incredibly comfortable. The breakfast is fantastic! The room was very clean, and everything was perfect for the price. I highly recommend it; we'll definitely be back!

Very affordable overnight accommodation at very fair prices. Food and drinks, clean rooms, better than expected... I stayed overnight alone for €44 including breakfast. Of course, you always have to consider the price, but I found it perfectly fine...

Very nice, quiet location surrounded by nature. The rooms were comfortable and practical. Each room has its own bathroom, which is great. The common room is under the roof, as it's somewhat divided. The front area is for sitting at the table, and the back area is for relaxing on the sofa and cushions. There was also a TV, although I don't even know if it worked. There was a foosball table and a dartboard. We had booked breakfast. It was simple but sufficient. Coffee was available per person from the machine. The kitchen is open from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Last order at 5:45 p.m. Everything is delicious. Nice people! Nice place to stay! We'd be happy to come back again😘

It will most certainly not result in a loss of profits for the Nature Friends House if a consistently strict smoking ban were finally imposed there, because many people avoid this place, which suggests relaxation, but instead offers illness and painful death due to these sickly selfish smokers who act in an anti-social = ignorant manner! Large house with enough space and a beer garden in the middle of the forest. If you want to enjoy pure nature again, this is the right place for you. Food is good and tasty.

The Naturfreundehaus Kandel is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy. The location in the middle of nature is fantastic, and the local food was absolutely fresh and tasty and at very fair prices. A perfect combination of relaxation and enjoyment. I keep coming back!

Price/performance is right... When the weather is nice, it's ideal for going out to eat with children. Beer garden with playground... Sometimes it's loud but it's just children...

Exactly what you can expect in a well-run Palatinate Nature Friends' House and eat with great appetite after a long hike. The employees are all very friendly even when there is a lot going on. Lots of seating inside and outside. The toilets are very clean!!! What more could you actually want??? Anyone who complains should just work in the kitchen for a day...

Always an experience: after a relaxing dog walk in the Bienwald, stop at the Nature Friends House. Although we live in the Black Forest, we often enjoy the Palatinate and are happy about the country, its people and its hospitality.

We passed there by chance on our bikes. I thought it was all great. Food good. Service - ok, everything picked up yourself. Ok, if you want to find something to complain about then sure... but I don't want to. Just this much. We were outdoors in the most beautiful autumn weather. The benches and tables could be used again... but no, it was great and after about 30KM a very, very great relaxation. I would like to recommend it - I even think it's worth a detour. If you're in the area again - I'd love to come back. Price performance food ok - drinks due. Self-catering, well...

Wiener Schnitzel with fries and salad for 16 euros, without service, is excessively overpriced for a nature friend's house. If you ask for extra sauce, you'll have to pay another 1.80 euros, but even then the sauce is very limited, so you'll quickly be left high and dry again. For the price of 17.80 euros you can also go to a restaurant with service. This no longer has anything to do with Naturefriends House standards, but is purely money-making. It used to be fair, but unfortunately not anymore. Comparable, other Naturefriends houses are definitely much cheaper. And that has nothing to do with volunteer staff, just as the owner generally always reacts and responds to price criticism.

The Naturfreundehaus invites you to linger with its large beer garden (places partly under a tent and partly under trees). There are also playgrounds, a goal wall and a zip line for kids (a bit outdated). There are also enough seats inside. The Naturfreundehaus is also a destination for many hiking and cycling tours. Ideal for eating out with children. We've had the name "Pommes Playground" for over 30 years. However, if you value service and are disturbed by number announcements, you should go somewhere else. Not so nice inside but the outside area and the playground are great. We now go there with our grandchildren.

The Naturfreundehaus is located in a wonderful spot. The staff is super friendly and the food was very tasty 👍 The spritzer is poured very well. The two playgrounds also mean “Halli Galli” 😊 which is very entertaining. Water pots are also available for the dogs 🐕. Only the tables need to be wiped down every now and then 🫢

As a Naturfreunde member you simply have to go if you are nearby! I love this flair from before, stopping off after a hike, getting food yourself, other hikers,... just being with friends!

Inexpensive and tasty. The huge beer garden is great and invites you to sit down. The forest has great routes and most of them lead to the Nature Friends House 😀. Of course you can also get there by car. The food is also plentiful and the quality is great. Will probably be there a lot this summer 😬👍

The entire price level is excessive. Prices are restaurant level. You stand in the QUEUE, set and clear the table yourself, absolutely no service. This is normal for Naturfreunde houses but not at these PRICES. The highest, however, are the prices for non-alcoholic drinks Fanta and similar 0.25l 2.50€, beer and spritzer are cheaper. Conclusion, I have to raise my children to be alcoholics. Where is the responsibility of NATURFREUNDE here?

Since the forest cemetery is also located there, I come there more often. It's cozy and the food is good, the selection is large and the staff is friendly. When the weather is good you can sit outside under the trees, which is very nice and pleasant. I always enjoy coming there.

Depends on what drives you there. The food probably won't be, it's more down-to-earth and nothing special. This is probably due to the fact that it has to be quick and not expensive. It's self-service and the staff is very friendly. The atmosphere is rustic, something for nature lovers. Comfortable is different. We always go there with the dogs, the operators are very dog-friendly and it doesn't bother anyone if someone says "woof". That's why it doesn't bother us if it's not that posh, the currywurst still tastes good after the walk in the forest! Therefore highly recommended...if you are not too spoiled.....

Super nice place in the Bienwald, always a must stop for us in summer to drink a delicious wine spritzer in the great forest garden, eat sausage salad and fries or tarte flambée. Great for children because of the lots of space and playgrounds. Dog owners also get their money's worth. Old school, very personable, absolutely moderate prices and a lot of Palatinate warmth!

Sehr schön gelegenes Naturfreundehaus, sehr schöner Biergarten mit Spielplatz. Gutes Essens-Angebot. Leider keine gezapftes Bier, aber man kann an der Weinstraße ja auch mal was anderes trinken.

Wir waren 2 Busse mit den Naturfreunden Pirmasens, insgesamt 107 Leute (wir hatten vorher reserviert). Alles hat wunderbar geklappt, alle Personen hatten innerhalb 45 Minuten das Essen sowie die Getränke am Tisch. Sehr freundliches und zuvorkommendes Personal, dass fast nur aus jungen Leuten bestand. Sicherlich sehen wir uns bald wieder.

Rustikale aber schön gelegene Gaststätte mitten im Wald. Das Essen hat zwar eine ganze Zeit gedauert (da Sonntag), aber wir war ganz gemütlich gesessen. Das Essen Schnitzel mit Pommes und Salat war warm und hat gut geschmeckt. Unser Hund durfte mit in die Gaststätte hinein. Rollstuhl geeignet, da Rampe vorhanden.

Beliebtes Ziel für Wanderer und Radfahrer Familien mit Kindern sind hier richtig. Essen ist gut Hausmannskost mit Selbstbedienung. Preise sind angepasst

Das Essen ist echt gut. Kann man echt wenig bemängeln. Schon mein Opa war dort essen. Menge passt auch! Service habe ich nicht bewertet weil es Self-Service ist. Wenn zu viele Menschen an der Kasse anstehen kann es mal unruhig werden. Ambiente ist top! Man ist im Wald. Schön Natur kann man echt mal genießen.

Ziemlich laute Akkustik innen, Selbstbedienung, wobei die Durchsagen mit den Nummern, um das bestellte Essen abzuholen unerträglich laut, störend und trotzdem nicht verständlich sind. Aber Essen und Personal sind ok.

Kaum angekommen wurde man schon angepöbelt. Das Essen ist schlicht aber teuer. Den Wirt sollte man besser nicht kritisieren.

Sehr schön gelegenes Naturfreunde-Haus. Es ist immer ein Besuch wert. Es liegt schön im Wald und trotzdem ist da Abwechslung,in Richtung Süden sind Größe Wiesen, im Südwesten ist ein Waldfriedhof,der Rest ist Wald 🌳 und die Wege sind leicht zu begehen auch für Rollstuhlfahrer 🧑‍🦽und Rollatorfahrer. Fürs leibliche Wohl ist auch gesorgt,;das Essen ist immer gut bis sehr gut und für mich gesehen immer ausreichend. Für Kinder ein super Spielplatz. 🏸⛹🏃 Nur für Leute die in einem Naturfreundehaus, ein Sterne Restaurant suchen ,sind da am falschen Platz.

Waren heute das 1. Mal da und waren sehr zufrieden. Das Personal ist freundlich und trotz vielen Gästen, mussten wir auf unser Essen nicht lange warten. Kann die manch negativen Rezessionen über's Essen nicht nachvollziehen. Unser Essen war heiß und hat genauso gut geschmeckt, wie es ausgesehen hat. Der Beilagensalat war liebevoll angerichtet,alles super lecker,aber....1 Schnitzel hätte mir auch gereicht 😁 und weniger Pommes ebenso 😁. Ist immer schade,wenn der Teller nicht leer gegessen wird,finde ich. Kommen ganz bestimmt demnächst nochmal zum Essen.

Ruhig gelegenes Naturfreundehaus im Bienwald. Selbstbedienung. Vom Essen(Wurstsalat mit Pommes) leider kein Foto gemacht. Die Pommes waren eigentlich ganz gut, nur leider viel zu viel. Dafür war es recht wenig Wurstsalat. Geschmack war leider auch recht "lasch". Aber schöne Spielmöglichkeiten für Kinder. Deshalb 4 Gesamtpunkte
