This is a great place to sit and enjoy a snack and a beer. Nannu served us very, very well and was extremely friendly!

One of the most regrettable, unfair, and sad experiences we've ever had traveling in Europe. Terrible customer service, rude and with a negligence that bordered on illegal. Also extremely racist for being foreign tourists. Bad manners and derogatory comments. Everything got worse when, in a violent, aggressive, and shouting manner, he demanded a tip when collecting the bill, and that it be in cash only. And, believing we didn't understand German, he insulted us and shouted at us, mocking us with a waiter on the other side of the terrace, calling us out for being non-German and "of his race" (his exact words). And in case you're wondering, no, he wasn't white, tall, and blond... Things could have ended very badly, but luckily they didn't. I just hope that with this review I can save someone who's enjoying a few days in Munich from this ordeal.

No card payments accepted, not until 2025! The waitresses were very unfriendly, irritated, and either squeezed people together or sent them away. The potato pancakes were unfortunately not tasty or crispy either.

Very good and friendly service. Delicious food. The Reiberdatschi (fried dumplings) are highly recommended. We received excellent service on August 26, 2025, and we would gladly return.

The food is good. Simple but traditional. The terrace was very busy because there are a lot of tourists.

We were recently guests and just wanted to enjoy a quiet beer. Unfortunately, our visit was completely ruined by the behavior of the waiter named Nannu. When we were paying, he repeatedly asked us about tips and practically begged for them, even though we had already rounded up the amount. He then made the rude comment, "Oh, so Switzerland doesn't have any money anymore..." And that wasn't enough – he even spoke badly about us at the next table. Such behavior is absolutely unacceptable for a dining experience. 0 stars for this gentleman.

I rounded up the amount to pay, but the waiter, Nanu, attacked me quite harshly. He asked if he was doing a bad job and wanted a tip instead. Very suspicious. We were very dissatisfied with the service from a waiter named Nannu. Even though we had already tipped, he asked us again and even became a bit pushy. Only when he realized we weren't going to give any more did he stop. He then went to the next table and ranted about Switzerland, saying that Switzerland "has no more money"—and even looked over at us. We found this behavior rude and disrespectful. Very disappointing.

Food was a little overpriced for what you get. 2 hamburger patty and a side potato salad was like €19… wasn’t really impressed by the food. I think they are better options close by.

Great little local restaurant, perfect for a quick sausage. The server is very friendly and takes an interest in his customers. You have to pay in cash; cards are not accepted, which we like (well done for maintaining places that aren't taxed by banks...). Pleasant terrace under the trees and parasols in the middle of the market.

Quaint restaurant, friendly and always cheerful waiters, just fun

The server we had was incredibly rude. He sat us at two tables of four then asked us to move after taking our drink orders. This was no problem, however, with the move our stroller had to sit in the rain. The server was unpleasant throughout our lunch and I wish we had his name as maybe it’s an individual issue and not the restaurant as a whole. Both my parents are fluent in deutch, however, he would constantly argue he could not understand (it felt very condescending considering they both grew up in German speaking homes). Finally, they did not accept card which we only discovered after placing our order. Again this was fine but as it was the last day of our trip we had limited Euros. The bill came out to be about $92 and we gave him a $100 bill. He returned to tell us that this was not an acceptable tip (which I’d agree is below the average 10%, however, given how rude the server was, it was more than he deserved). He continued to argue after we explained how rude he was and even chased us down the street to continue to yell and shame us.

Extremely rude waiter. Had us move tables so he could kick out two other patrons that had over stayed. Told one in our party of seven that he was only letting him stay to be nice as one in our group only ordered drink. Made us keep baby outside of gate so we wouldn’t take up room. Complained when bill came to 92.50 and I only gave him 100. Truth was he did not Ofer any change. He did not deserve any. He also made remarks such as if you can’t drink you beer like a real man I will help. I did tell him that tip was only eight percent as a reflection on him. Typically I was usually tipping ten to thirty percent.

Rude waiter who asks for tips, it's expensive, nothing is reflected on the restaurant menu and they don't take the menu.

Very unfriendly waiter. Sends two people away because the table is for 4. Everyone has to order something. Family sat next to us. Mother orders father beer, the child doesn't want anything. Waiter says everyone has to order something, if not they have to leave. Never again!

I just arrived in Munich by train and went on a pilgrimage straight there for a fresh half. Almost twenty years ago I was welcomed there with delicious food, delicious beer and friendly staff. Thanks for that.

In line with other reviews, waiter behaviour was incredibly poor; rude, nasty to foreigners with attempts to extort tips from customers through bullying and intimidation. Thankfully we picked up on his behaviour before paying.

Horrible experience with the waitress, this waitress manhandled a man who was about to receive money from a customer. The waitress grab the man from his coat and push him. Don’t come here where people treat horrible another people.

Everything is just right here: the ambience, the food and, above all, the service. I would particularly like to mention waiter Thomas, who made our visit unforgettable with his warm, professional and attentive manner. As soon as we entered we were greeted warmly and given excellent advice. His recommendations were on point – both in terms of food and drinks. Despite the busy restaurant, he took the time to say a few nice words and made sure we didn't miss anything. The food was of the highest quality: fresh, lovingly prepared and a real highlight in terms of taste. Whether traditional Bavarian cuisine or modern creations – everyone will find what they are looking for here. Conclusion: A perfect place to experience Munich hospitality! If you are looking for excellent service and culinary delights, you should definitely stop by here. And if you're lucky enough to be served by Thomas - all the better!

To be honest, I don't understand some of the reviews at all. We were there last weekend and the food was delicious and the waiters were on their toes. Our waiter Thomas was friendly and underlined the sunny day with his humor. Gladly again :)

Since I was staying in a neighboring house, the first place upon arrival where I came to eat was this. Most of all I liked the potato soup, to be honest, I even ate it for several days in a row, I really liked it. Also a good dish of sausages and cabbage. There are 6 of them, cabbage has an interesting aftertaste, I have already tried it in several places, this was one of the best. The beer was good too. The atmosphere is very pleasant, when the sun comes out you don't even want to leave.

You don't even get coffee and are thrown out of the store - "cold drinks only..." - a shame! The innkeeper is probably doing too well.

Without doubt one of my favourite places to visit in Munich, service exceptional, food delicious and fabulous atmosphere. Thomas the waiter who always looks after us is just wonderful and can’t do enough to make us my family and friends welcome. We always look forward to returning.

Rude staff, drinks are simply left out and charged for without you asking. All that with the comment; ...men are thirsty!

Unfortunately, the food was really not edible. The food was brought to the table 5 minutes after ordering. Unfortunately, the cheese spaetzle were absolutely not edible and were almost completely gone. The cordon bleu was burnt and the cheese wasn't melted in the middle. We are happy to give a generous tip if something is of good quality, but not for such quality. There were loud complaints about this - an absolute no-go.

Never again!!!! Because he ordered a Fanta, my husband was told off by the waiter that he had chosen a sugary drink. My son should calculate the drinks when paying...it would be so easy...said the waiter. Then, like a senior teacher, he calculated for us what the final total of the order was. I round up the €22.60 to €23. The waiter cheekily said the comment: Was I that bad? Yes, the service was so bad and it wasn't a quiet break from the city tour! Not recommended.

I don't recommend it, you can't pay by card. We paid with PayPal, but the service was very rude. Especially the owner, who immediately raised her voice and started pushing me in anger.

The waiter is like another sferli from Germany, his jokes colder than the satisfyingly cool beer of the store. However, German humor bears no responsibility for the absence of stars in my rating. Eating facility on the Viktualienmarkt. Food was OK, without more. Typical German meals. Waiter was super unfriendly at checkout and demanded a minimum 10% tip. Apparently that's how it was supposed to be. Neither the service nor the food entitles you to such a tip. And this was not asked of German customers. When we did not want this, the atmosphere became very grim and the waiter very unfriendly. Payment can also only be made in cash. Visit the market, but don't be fooled into eating something here.

We wanted something to eat and drink. We chose Wiener schnitzel and beer. It was not on the menu, but the waiter himself offered it to us. Because we sat down at (his) wrong table, he was very rude and disrespectful. So we must change table after arguing. The food was not bad but too expensive considering the portion size. After paying, the waiter disappointedly and a little angrily asked why he didn't get a tip. When we told him what was bothering us, he wanted to fight and escorted us out of the restaurant with an insult. He was very rude and made us feel very uncomfortable. I highly recommend avoiding this place. We were very disappointed.

After a long walk in the city centre we wanted to drink a cold beer and have some sausages for lunch. After ordering 2 beers and a platter of sausages the waiter told that he wouldn't serve us because we wouldn't spend much, although there was no indication of the minimum amount someone could spend. In fact we wanted to order more but the waiter disappered. He was very rude and made us feel very uncomfortable. I highly suggest avoiding this place. We where very disappointed.

Munich's smallest restaurant is located a little on the edge of the Viktualienmarkt, and you just have to find it first. It's also the smallest restaurant in Munich ;-) The service is super nice and is even happy to help you find a free seat, and then you get a delicious meal and a cold beer. Everything is fine, everything is great.

Great spot in the middle of a lovely market area. Great quality beers (bio/ natural) and great food. Great burgers and an array of sausages. Had a great lunch here.

Amazing crispy pork! The potion is really large however the price is a bit tough! However the space is really dynamic! I would recommend to go with the group, and make sure you have reservation cause it will be extremely busy!

My husband and I found this gem while exploring the Viktualienmarkt on our first day in Munich. Thomas and the team working there were very welcoming and we found them to be super friendly, positive, and hard-working. We went back for a beer on our last day because we enjoyed the atmosphere and hospitality so much. The Paulaner beer was fantastic and so refreshing. We stood at a barrel high-top style table and just watched the people in the market. We did not eat food here, but it looked delicious. We highly recommend.

Spent a lovely sunny afternoon here. Great service from Thomas, honest, cheeky and always with a saying on his lips. Food was good and the beer was tasty. Of course, given the size of the place, every seat here is worth its weight in gold. We also got along well with the people sitting next to us. Had a lot of fun here! See you next time.

Good place to have a typical and quick meal. The waiter, very attentive and with people skills, tries to help and talk especially about football. Be careful, the espresso coffee should be like in 🇪🇦 photo double espresso coffee. Be careful when you ask for the bill, he tells you if it's ok and he keeps all the change if you answer ok, when what you have to do is give the change and you give the tip...not for him to collect it!!! while he talks to you about various topics

The place is good, small but cozy. The food was fast but a bit expensive for the quantities. I don't like that we sit with people I don't know at the same table, it's typical there but I don't like it. The friendly waiters. I don't see the tip thing well either.

Ich war einem Samstag dort essen. Die Begrüßung war herzlich, das Ambiente war schön und das Essen war in Ordnung. Jedoch kommen wir jetzt zum Service. Wir wollten Essen zum Teilen bestellen wurden jedoch darauf hingewiesen, dass jede Person etwas bestellen muss. Dies finde ich schon sehr anmaßend. Weiterhin wollten wir nur jeweils eine kleine Cola bestellen. Daraufhin wurde vom Kellner erwidert es ist Samstag wir geben nur die große Cola aus. Es ist für mich persönlich Scam, weil es nirgendwo ein Hinweis dazu gibt. Kommen wir nun zur Bezahlung. Erstmal es ist keine Kartenzahlung möglich. Willkommen in den 80ziger. Als ich passend bezahlen wollte erwiderte der Kellner O-Ton ,, sie wollen passend bezahlen?“ Ich wusste gar nicht, dass Trinkgeld Pflicht ist. Besonders nicht, wenn das Lokal nur darauf ausgelegt ist maximal Profit zu machen. Nach seiner Reaktion war ich noch zufriedener kein Trinkgeld gegeben zu haben, weil es einfach sehr anmaßend und respektlos ist Trinkgeld zu erwarten. Ich gehe sehr gerne essen und gebe auch Trinkgeld, wenn der Service dafür stimmt.

In München muss man eine Weißwurst essen - und durch Hrn. Nannu wurden wir sehr freundlich bedient (trotz regen Besucherandrangs).

Nette, freundliche Bedienung. Das Essen war bodenständig aber sehr lecker. Wir dachten schon, oh je, Viktualienmarkt mit guter Lage, das wird bestimmt teuer, aber es war echt günstig. Für eine Weisse, ein Spezi, eine Kartoffelsuppe mit Brot und Leberkäse mit Kartoffelsalat haben wir ca. 24€ bezahlt. Bei traumhaftem Wetter in München für Nicht-Schickeria echt zu empfehlen. Die Toiletten waren auch gepflegt.

We were there during Oktoberfest, so you can imagine the rush of people... still the staff was very, very nice, the atmosphere was cheery. The food was ok, simple and well made, nothing fancy but tasty and fresh. Paulaner did not disappoint!

Kleiner Biergarten mit kleiner Speisekarte und rntsprechender Getränkeauswahl. Moderate Preise und freundliche Bedienung. Fas Management vielleicht etwas unsortiert. Die Speisentafeln stehen noch und Speisekarten sind am Tisch, während der Küchenbetrieb runtergefahren wird. Der freundliche Kellner gleicht das mit Gespräch und Beratung aus. Mir ist so was im Prinzip egal, den der Viktualienmarkt hat eigene Gesetze. 3 Sterne für den Snack sind ausreichend, denn 3 Stück Reiberdatschi aus TK mit ein Tupferl Apfelmus kriegen nicht mehr. Frische selbstgemachte Reiberdatschi wären ein Renner.

Lloc per a fer un mos típicament bavarès sense deixar-s'hi el sou. Àmplia varietat de salsitxes. Hom pot trobar-se amb algun problema per a desxifrar la carta, que és en alemany i anglès però que sovint respecta els noms originals. Crec que seria recomanable algun aclariment. Hem demanat gairebé a les palpentes. Tot i això, el menjar -es pot dir que sorpresa-ens ha agradat força.

Schöner Ort am Viktualienmarkt. Essen frisch und lecker, preislich im Rahmen. Wir hatten alles schnell am Tisch, obwohl es voll war. Kellner schnell, freundlich und witzig. Auch die Kinder haben sich wohl gefühlt.

Haben in Münchens kleinster Gaststätte zu Mittag gegessen, direkt am Viktualienmarkt. Service ging sehr schnell und war sehr freundlich, das Essen kam schnell und war gut. Preislich - man ist mitten in München, entsprechend sind die Preise. Aber noch ok. Werden wir wieder mal dort Brotzeit machen? Wenn wir wieder in die Gegend kommen, gerne!
