A Munich inn that a Munich resident could only wish for. And the “Zuagroasten” (newcomers) will definitely like it too! Very cozy dining rooms, really Bavarian-friendly service and excellent local cuisine. (The tartare and fried trout couldn't have been prepared better.) Plus Augustiner beers. What more could you want!

We were there on a Sunday early evening without a reservation and were warmly welcomed. The food was very good, the service (Traudl) was extremely friendly. The price/performance ratio is perfect. The restaurant and the sanitary facilities are a bit old, so 1 point is deducted from the ambience point. We'd love to come back!

Were there for the traditional white sausage meal. They only come in even numbers with one pretzel each, so no three or two with two pretzels. The sausage has no taste, the consistency is like cold foam, the pretzels are totally salty and limp, the mustard is from Hendlmayer, but from the small plastic bags. It's a shame we have to look for a new location.

Outstanding service and meals in this traditional restaurant. Best meal out of 2 weeks southern Germany. Will definitely visit again. Parking needs to be found on the street.

We came across this restaurant by chance and much to our delight! The service was great from start to finish and the waitress was attentive and available throughout the meal. Regarding the dishes, they are delicious and very generous! By far one of the best restaurants in Munich! We had an unforgettable time! Thank you so much ! I highly recommend!

The taste of the schnitzel and suckling pig knuckle was convincing, even if the breading would have had to flake off more for the perfect schnitzel; But it was good, but the portion was just a bit too small for the price. At least a few more fried potatoes... Service was mixed: friendly, but wrong drink, a bit planned... but not really bad either. Together with the portion size and price level (well... location) each is almost half a star deducted. The noisy street isn't great either. Definitely no problem inside. Super nice service, I have to mention it first, very attentive and friendly. Schnitzel was a bit thin, but we all enjoyed it, we were a larger group. There is a bit of an unpleasant smell in the toilets... Overall it was a nice stay.

The restaurant is very nicely decorated. The location at Nymphenburg Palace is great. You can also park nearby. The service was very good. However, the quality of the food and the condition of the toilets should receive a little more attention from the staff.

Muy buena comida, un poco caro, pero vale la pena. Diferentes opciones de alimentos , también disponibles para vegetarianos. Recomiendo el schnitzel de salchicha con patatas asadas o ensalada de patatas y pepinos. Además, un must have es el kaiserschmarrn mit Apfelmus. Delicioso! Una porción es más que suficiente para dos personas después de un almuerzo consistente! También está muy cerca del Palacio Nymphenburger, a pocos minutos a pie. Recomiendo este lugar!

There's something special and cozy in the interior, feel like at home. We visited Metzgerwirt a lot of times and always happy with their delicious food. Service is always friendly and but not always quick. Augustiner beer is a big plus, very fresh and tasty.

Do you close at 10:30 p.m. even though Google says 11:00 p.m.?

Typical Bavarian place in the city of Munich with traditional atmosphere and abundant, tasty food. Highly recommended.

Hidden Gem we found on the way to nymphurberg palace. pork schnitzel is awesome. thinly cut and tender and crispy batter not too thick but Roasted potato abit too salty. trout and steak is good too. glad that we had lunch there

We were there for lunch. Onion roast overpriced for 27 euros with canned onions, I ordered medium rare and unfortunately it was served rare. But it was replaced by the waitress without any problems. We won't go there anymore.

Came by after Nymphenburg Palace tour. Totally loved this place that we cancelled our dinner booking. Highly recommended from a foodie.

Seats in the winter garden are icy in winter because the beer garden door is permanently open, various guests repeatedly close the door behind the staff.

Leckeres Essen, gute Auswahl, auch für Vegetarier. Der Burger war leider angebrannt mit Kruste, ansonsten gut. Exzellente Pommes. Nette, aber etwas überforderte Bedienung.

Io e la mia fidanzata siamo stati qui per pranzo dopo la visita al castello di nymphenburg. Posizione strategica per la vicinanza al castello, servizio cordiale e disponibile, abbiamo anche trovato una cameriera gentile che parlava italiano. Abbiamo preso 1/2 anatra bavarese con crauti e patate, e un extra di patate al forno , porzione abbondante per due persone. I sapori erano autentici e si avvertiva l’autenticità della cucina bavarese. Birra eccellente e ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo, consigliato!

Great furnishings typically Bavarian. We reserved a table on Sunday lunchtime (which was also necessary). Service was quick, good and unobtrusive. Unfortunately, according to the kitchen, all sauces were bound with flour (starch would be better - you need over half less and the product doesn't taste too much like flour - and it makes a few allergy sufferers happy) so the duck was eaten without sauce, according to the waiter then brought some more broth.... My game goulash was good, but somehow it didn't taste like game...?! and for dessert it was unfortunately not possible to make 1/2 Kaiserschmarrn... it's a shame... you would have just used a ladle, but if you don't want to... the prices are not cheap but they are appropriate for the location (castle). .

If you're met with hospitality as soon as you open the door, then you haven't "done much wrong"😉 I love restaurants from old times when, like here, they've managed to combine the old and the new so wonderfully. Spending time there is a pleasure that is not disappointed by the people cooking, who are never visible. A clear range of options fulfills various culinary desires. But it's not so full of offers that you forget to order because of all the variations. Go! It's worth it❤️‍🔥 And those friends who avoid pork are offered good alternatives for all courses. I think the price-performance ratio is completely fine.

Good local cuisine in a restaurant with a typically German flavour, the first non-touristy one I found in Munich. The surprise was having found staff who spoke Italian. A plus that makes the difference.

One of the best typical food restaurants in München! The staff was surprisingly friendly for being Germany, very cozy and old fashioned atmosphere. I highly recommend eating there on your next visit to Munich. It's located very close to the palace of Nymphenburg.

Great, little beer garden opposite Nymphenburg Palace

Excellent experience. Place with very well-kept and typical interiors. Great location near the Nymphenburg Schloss. Basic and kind service (a waiter, noticing some of my difficulties in German, immediately ran to help me by trying his hand at Italian). Wiener Schnitzel (mine) and München Schnitzel (my partner's) excellent with a side of baked potatoes and Kartoffelsalat both excellent. Augustiner beer: a guarantee. I would happily return.

Quaint inn, incredibly nice staff, very good menu, reasonable prices for food, really good food. The small side salad was also really great. Two points why I didn't give 5 stars: A small water (0.25l) 3.90 euros - unacceptable. And the entire toilet area in the basement smelled of urine.

Unfortunately, terrible service, at least for a woman who wants to treat herself to a Sunday dinner alone. No menu at the first conversation with the waiter, when the drink came, no menu again and then no contact for ages until I got a menu myself. NO apology, nothing at all, but I waited ages for the food, which I preferred to take with me. The food is tasty, but luckily there are other restaurants with better service!! What a shame!!

The feta cheese, carrot, potato dish was excellent. The hamburger was average. The server knew almost zero English, and we were clearly a bother to her - from seating, to service, to payment. She huffed at us when we asked for another water and ketchup. She was rude and made it a point to repeat our order in German - which we could not confirm. At the end of our meal, we paid with Visa. She ran our credit card and pressed 20% tip for herself without allowing us to make a choice (or not). Then, she printed the receipt, handed it to us and was done. Never had that happen before — yikes. Before this meal, we loved seeing the Palace!!

A great restaurant to experience traditional Bavarian Germany food. The portions were big and the servers were friendly & attentive. Beautiful seating area indoors, and relaxing area outdoors. Overall wonderful experience and great place to eat & get familiar with the different cultural foods.

I had a pork knuckle for lunch here. Unfortunately, it took a long time for the waiter to notice that I had finished eating. All I had left on my plate were bones. I had the feeling of being overlooked several times; to the advantage of other guests who had appeared in greater numbers. It's a shame, because the knuckle was highly recommended.

Simple and tasty food. Quite relaxing with a pleasant ambiance. The waiter was very friendly. The only issues were the wasps on the terrace and the walnut shells in the strudel.

Even though the weather was nice, we sat inside because of the authentic atmosphere of the place. I'm glad we did so. The schnitzel was delicious, the potato salad on the side was amazing, we asked for extra. The taste lingered on our palate. If you want dessert, I'd say the portions are big.

A little expensive. My friends had the steak which was incredible. Veal schnitzel a little underwhelming. Potato dumplings were the best ones I had in Germany!!! Traditional Bavarian design. Nice staff. Was fun to experience classic German food :)

The food was good and tasty, the prices are fair and reflect good quality ratio, but the (in)hospitality of the employees was disappointing. We felt uncomfortable and would not go back there.

Even though it is next to a touristic place l, the prices are as anywhere else in Munich. I didn't find it expensive. The service is very friendly and attentive (they speak English). Waiting time was quite short. The ambient is very nice, not loud at all. The food was super tasty and definitely enough. I got the 1/4 duck, and I will definitely recommend it. Very typical Bavarian food, I loved it.

It took them 30 minutes to ask us what we wanted to eat, and after 40 more minutes without serving the food, and seeing that 4 tables that had arrived later were with their food, we left without eating. A shame.

Lovely restaurant with tables in a shaded courtyard and in a beautiful conservatory. Many Bavarian dishes available, including some vegetarian ones; obazda, tofu schnitzel, cheesy noodles, potato salad... The staff were efficient, but charged us for service AND expected a tip!

Everything we were looking for to get a taste of Bavaria. The food and atmosphere were only exceed by our server, and all at a good value.
