Haidhauser Augustiner in München

Booked a week in advance to get a table in front of the door... I don't know what to think of that place anymore... Used to be good though.

A classic Munich inn, the Haidi, highly recommended, definitely make a reservation and is best visited with friends. Easy to get to, good food, a clear selection of dishes and an extensive range of drinks. Always friendly and attentive staff, clean place, comfortable, not too cramped spaces. All around there is a hearty Munich inn (restaurant).

Rather small but very cozy brewery. The food was really good! And the service was also very pleasant.

Dear Haidhauser-Augustiner team, I went to the Haidhauser Augustiner for a birthday dinner today with my wife and two daughters and was thrilled. The food was excellent, I have rarely eaten such a good Viennese style schnitzel. The ladies were also very happy with their Viennese-style schnitzel and cream schnitzel. The waitresses were very accommodating, attentive and friendly, it couldn't be better. Thank you for two lovely hours with you on my birthday! It's a shame that I no longer live in Munich, I would then come by more often. VG

Just a great place: many different (seasonal) beers and a huge selection of Schnitzel. The food is very tasty. The atmosphere is great - traditional and modern at the same time.

We really enjoyed it! This inn is traditional and exactly what you'd expect from an inn, but also kind of cool! Everything is VERY clean and tidy! The service (Wednesday, March 26, 2025) was great! The recommendations were very good and we enjoyed them! You MUST try the Kaiserschmarrn, the best we've ever had! Excellent! We'll be back ;)

Lovely yummy food. The pork skin has that crispy umami. Portion is huge for me. Soup is flavourful. The service staffs are friendly and attentive. Cozy place

Beer is OK. I wouldn't eat there anymore. Veal patties with industrial potato salad, I'm still sick.

I ordered 'to go' for the first time today: Absolutely uncomplicated order acceptance and the food (everything from the daily menu) was ready for collection in 10 minutes. Top! And the lunch menu (roast pork) on site is also great!

Discovered and went many times in the last two months. Became my regular dinner and pub experience. Permits small portions – – you have to ask. That suited me quite well.

Not necessarily. The menu is very “clear”, the prices are not justified for what is on offer. The coleslaw with the roast pork had to be requested twice, the fries with the schnitzel were completely oversalted, the dumpling with the roast pork was tough as rubber (also an art, no question). The waiter was visibly annoyed and preferred to talk to his colleagues instead of serving the guests... Next time we'd rather go 800 m further to the Augustiner

Quaint and cozy. There were three of us here for dinner. Despite the low season, it was very full on a Wednesday evening. We had three different dishes and everyone was very happy with their food. I personally can recommend the Munich Schnitzel. The draft beer is of course the cherry on top. Keep it up! We'll come back when we're in the area again.

The Augustiner is very cozy! Delicious beer, mostly from wooden barrels. The service was great! The taste of the food was just mediocre. Soup very salty, sauce and dumplings for roast pork quite bland.

Typical Bavarian location, as well as the menu and clothing of the dining room staff. I tried one of their pork "cutlets", which I liked a lot, as well as the baked potatoes. Less salt and salad. Beers.. excellent! Very friendly and helpful dining room staff. Prices a little high

The inn gets very crowded after 7 p.m. What I don't like at all: Augustiner beer not from a wooden barrel, sausage salt in a Munich tavern and my Nuremberg sausages on cold sauerkraut and sauce! You should go to a better Augustinian tavern to eat!

When paying, they literally insisted on a tip. After asking twice and saying no (for which reason, the service was average), I was asked urgently why no tip had been given.

A typical Bavarian restaurant, nice atmosphere. We are just passing through and met up with friends here. The food was delicious, as was the beer and I even got a small one. :-) The service was really nice, the shop was humming, so the volume was appropriate. We had reserved a table, otherwise the space wouldn't have worked out.

Great place, a real surprise, I found it by accident and was delighted. In a full restaurant without a reservation, the waiters found a seat for me and did the impossible. It's really the service and the food that together make a great atmosphere at a high level. I will visit again soon.

Great food, usual Augustinian quality. There's always a lot going on and sometimes it's a hassle to reorder something...

After we had bad experiences with the service a while ago and therefore hadn't been there for a while, we wanted to give the Augustiner another chance. After all, in previous years, for 20 years, I enjoyed being a guest there often and I also live right around the corner. Unfortunately, last week's visit was again a failure: The waitress came to the table and wanted to take our drink order, but I would have just liked to take a look at the menu first and see what was available, so I asked for the menu. The waitress then left without a word. But she didn't come back with the menu, but instead preferred to chat at the bar and didn't look at us anymore. We ended up getting one of the lunch menu displays from the bar ourselves, but no drinks were listed at all. There was no “real” map anywhere. The other waiter also preferred to go smoke rather than bring us a menu (beforehand). When neither the waiter nor the waitress paid us any attention, let alone brought the menu or even took an order, we left without having accomplished anything. By the way, the restaurant wasn't full. It's a shame, it was actually always a nice shop, but we really don't have to let ourselves be treated so ignorantly. We prefer to go to the Bavarian restaurant around the corner, where you are greeted warmly and have the menus put on the table before you even take off your jacket. I'm wondering: What kind of bad habit has it actually become not to simply hand the guest the menu first (and perhaps ask for drinks at the same time, if someone already knows)? And if you don't know what you want to order without a card, then condescendingly completely ignore the guest? Is there perhaps no menu at all anymore? Then why not offer self-service if serving is so annoying? Apparently the simplest manners are no longer present, nor is the idea of ​​entertaining the guest properly and showing them a good time. Very disappointing. A neighbor and former regular customer.

We found a new place in Munich that we visited 3 times during our vacation week. We are convinced by the delicious food, no matter what we ordered (tomato soup, baked potato, duck, roast bread, sausage salad, apple fritters) was super tasty. Unfortunately we wouldn't order the schnitzel again. The service was very friendly throughout. We felt comfortable at all times.

Quaint restaurant, nice and well-filled in a positive sense, communicatively loud. Food was good on the whole, dumplings were firm and dry and the Kasspatzen cheese was sparing. Service was attentive at first, then things got quicker. Overall, still recommended due to the reasonable prices.

Haidhauser Augustiner is a good and classic Munich inn. Very well attended at the weekend, we were lucky to get a spot. We decided on the pork knuckle with cabbage and dumplings. Was absolutely great. Crispy crust, meat nice and tender. Sauce just right, neither too strong nor too under-seasoned. Herb too. Dumplings tasty and good. Beer also very tasty. Staff friendly and prompt, ambience typical of Bavaria. The two of us paid 45 euros with a tip for two drinks and two knuckles, which is totally fine! (December 2024)

Honest Munich restaurant with good food, freshly tapped beer in a friendly atmosphere!

According to the waiter, wheat beer had to be poured yourself, cola was only available in bottles, no more glasses. This time it was a service desert! We were there yesterday, Friday, 3 people, at the round table with bar stools!

The best place in the city without any doubt. The food is crazy good and the ambient is perfect. I would like to highlight the work of Mustafá Mirzaie, who gave us the best attention. I have been here several times and everytime I visit the city I would repeat in this place.

🥨 It's been a long time since I've been here again at Haidhauser Augustiner. Since I've eaten and drank here probably 100 times since I was a teenager (born and grew up in Haidhausen), I know the location very well. Only the landlords/tenants and of course the employees have changed since then. The food was okay and the drinks anyway (beer and spritzers were great as always). When the weather is nice, definitely sit outside and enjoy the sun while eating and drinking. What else has changed (unfortunately) is definitely the prices! Unfortunately, charging around €25 for a schnitzel that wasn't well seasoned (which really didn't taste like anything) is not appropriate. Our total bill was far more than that, as we ultimately shot over the 400 euro mark. I've been there several times now and never received the bill. The waiter comes and collects money but the bill is never presented. This should run automatically. It seems dubious, the laws should be followed. After making an inquiry over the phone, I was rudely brushed off. I pay for it, I expect an invoice and that automatically.

Also found a nice inn again. The roast pork was very good, my daughter liked the veggie burger. I tried it once and I really liked it.

Even in Munich it is difficult to find a down-to-earth German restaurant - especially in the Werksviertel... but this restaurant exceeded our expectations! Super nice staff, really Bavarian food and ambience... super tasty and surprisingly cheap too! It's been a long time since we've managed to eat enough as a couple and get away with several drinks for less than €50... here it was only €42! The portions are large and traditionally prepared. Clear recommendation!

Found this place by accident as most other places nearby were closed. Was perfect! Food was excellent, service was ace, friendly and didn't treat me like a tourist which I absolutely am. Thank you!

As a North German, I imagine a Bavarian tavern like this. Simple wooden design, bright lighting throughout the room, fewer chairs and more benches, fully occupied and very loud, hearty food and (to my regret) not even remotely bitter beer. But all in all: authentic.

Tasty, big portions, affordable prices, good service and beautiful environment It's best to make a reservation. We walked in and ate, but we occupied someone else's table for a while. Köstlich, Große Menge, erschwinglicher Preis, herzlicher Service, schöne Umgebung. Ich liebe dieses Restaurant. Ich werde das nächste Mal wiederkommen.

I went to this restaurant for lunch today with my wife, children and granddaughter. We were served by a young, dark-haired lady (20-25 years old) and I simply have to say that we haven't been served so friendly and competently in a long time! This simply has to be said. The lady took excellent care of both us and the two dogs, welcomed us with joy and was always polite! The little one even got a lolly to say goodbye. You don't see that every day!! Every meal tastes even better! Hopefully it will be appreciated enough..will definitely come again!! LG Thomas :)

I like the places outside. Lunch is served quickly. The beer is good anyway. The mood in the evening isn't bad either. So overall, a pretty good place to be entertained.

Super delicious authentic cuisine. The staff is courteous and quick to help. A little loud in the room when there are a lot of people, but that's also part of the ambience. The next time I'm in Munich I'll be happy to come back.

Pleasant in principle, but a step too far from guests' expectations. In other words, a little more patience and less pressure on guests to continue ordering would be necessary.

Food was good. I had the pork shank. The sauce was kind of bland. But it was good.

After several visits with food and drinks, I am firmly convinced that an untrained chef is working in the kitchen. It cannot be the case that I point out unacceptable defects in a dish, then on the next visit when ordering the same thing I ask that the dish was flawlessly prepared and then be served with an even poorer quality. Next visit different dish: Knödelgröstl mixed potato/bread dumplings. The potato dumplings were edible, the bread dumplings were tried by my four companions, and they all spat the sample out immediately. When I asked how it tasted, I complained about the quality of the bread dumplings. After 5 minutes the waiter comes and says: he checked in the kitchen and no old meat was used. We are looking for a new restaurant for our regulars' table

Food and service was first class. But as befits a good pub, it was crowded and loud, so don't expect to spend a quiet evening there.

Delicious roast pork, quick service at the bar. What more could you want? For the family maybe. A bit noisy in the evenings but the atmosphere is part of it.

Siete de nosotros estábamos en Munich para Oktoberfest y comimos aquí antes de volar a casa. Disfruté mucho de la comida y el personal fue muy amable / servicial. Tuve Jagerschnitzel que era hermoso, el Currywurst también era excelente. Muy recomendable.

The pork knuckle dish is as good as it can get. Skin is crunchy and the meat is extremely tender and moist. The sauce on currywurst was delicious. Draft beer was very tasty too.

We were there with friends from England. Had reserved a table. Beer always came quickly and the service was so super friendly! Despite the super busy store, she always had a smile on her face! Rarely experienced like this! Highly recommended!!!

A very good pub that shouldn't be missed when visiting Munich! Augustiner Festhalle is the pearl in the crown of this place. A really smooth beer with a mild taste, that goes along every meal. The food is decent and tasty; the interior offers an authentic Bavarian atmosphere. The service is ten out of ten! We visited the pub in a very busy evening, but the waiters made rheir best to find a place for us. Thanks a lot gyus, we'll definitely come back soon!

Good Bavarian cuisine, good Bavarian beer, nice atmosphere and good service. So you don't need to say much more about it.

We love going to the Augustiner on Bordeauxplatz often - very tasty, cozy and usually always very nice. But yesterday late afternoon/early evening we had a very negative experience with a very young waitress. We sat outside, the inn was still very empty, but the waitress didn't pay any attention to us, even though we had already been waiting for 15 minutes and she had walked past us several times. After we asked if we could order, she replied in a super unfriendly tone that we had to wait until she had cleaned the remaining (empty) tables because that was required by labor law. We were irritated that she refused to quickly take our order - which we had already chosen, it would have only taken a minute. Because her tone was so incredibly unfriendly and she continued to ignore us even though she was wiping the empty tables right next to us, we got up and wanted to leave. A colleague, an older, very nice woman, came towards us and since we were very upset, we explained the situation to her, whereupon she asked if the evening could not be 'saved' and we wanted to sit down again. At that moment the younger colleague came and said venomously to us that she hadn't done anything wrong and said 'no, I'm not going to discuss that now' and walked away. The behavior of the young waitress was subpar, but the older colleague was so nice and we like going to the Augustiner so much that we stayed and had a great evening. We will continue to come often, but we would be really grateful if such experiences didn't happen again.

I've never been to a bad Augustiner restaurant. The food is always good and worth stopping by for traditional Bavarian cuisine. They are known for their Helles, but I am hooked on the Weißbier!

Ja Ja Ja .. Wunderbar! On a recent visit to Munich in August 24 we had the pleasure of eating and drinking here in the town centre.. We could not fail the food , service and delicious Beer cold a tasty from wooden barrels at the bar ! Do not hesitate to visit, such great atmosphere and good value for money!

Wir hatten uns mit Freunden zu einem zünftigen Weißwurst-Frühstück verabredet. Leider war die Enttäuschung angesichts der armseligen Qualität groß: Die Weißwürste waren labrig und hatten wenig Geschmack. Eine absolute Frechheit waren die Brezn, die noch labriger und wirkten wie nicht richtig durchgebacken. Die schlechteste Brezn westlich vom Äquator. Trotz Reklamation gab es aber keine neuen, sondern patzige Anmwerkungen vom Servicepersonal in jovialem "Du". Never ever werde ich dieses Lokal wieder betreten.

Our food was very very bad. Weisswursts totally soggy with no bite, the pretzels even worse. It's an absolute disgrace for a Bavarian economy to serve up something like that. Unfortunately, beer had hardly any carbonation left. I can't recommend it to anyone.

The beer is delicious. The waiter service is not the best. The convenient thing is that it is very close to the train station (10 minutes walking) which makes it a perfect place to wait.

The food is very tasty and most of the staff are very accommodating. But it often takes forever for someone to wander around the tables and see if you want to order something. I would like a little more attention. Except for that, highly recommended.
