McDonald's in Kiel

We're frequent customers, often ordering takeout. We frequently order several items to go. Unfortunately, something is often forgotten, which costs over €10. This means we pay an extra €10 and receive nothing. The staff are so careless; this dump is not recommended. The food tastes like cardboard and is overcooked.

I wanted large fries, but they gave me small fries.

An absolute disaster. Orders are forgotten or only partially fulfilled. Products are literally slapped into cardboard boxes, and you have to beg for the Happy Meal surprises. All this with grumpy and unfriendly staff. A complete hoot – absolutely not recommended. By far the worst branch in Kiel.

The food was okay, but the toilets are terrible and very unkempt. This urgently needs improvement.

After a 20-minute wait, we inquired about our hamburger and cheeseburger. Upon request, they were only just being prepared. To maintain their quota, our order was nevertheless marked as completed on the display.

Hi, I had my takeaway food, but unfortunately I only noticed in the car that the fries were cold... that's annoying when you've just left the festival grounds and going back during the Christmas season isn't fun. It's entirely my fault, I could have checked them in the shop beforehand.

Absolutely dissatisfied... My girlfriend and I wanted to get two McDonald's meals, and they completely messed up our order and gave us something else. Either there was a technical error or they were inattentive. In any case, I won't be coming here again.

It's a McDonald's and is usually open. For those who like McDonald's, it's a fairly average crowd, and on weekends you'll occasionally find younger people hanging out. There are nicer McDonald's restaurants, but the food isn't generally great either.

Deploying only four staff members after a second division Bundesliga match is simply not sensible. That was the worst McDonald's visit of my life. The staff was completely overwhelmed. They weren't following hygiene regulations, no gloves were being worn when preparing the food, no head coverings, and they were incredibly unfriendly and rude. The staff were verbally abusing customers because many were complaining about wait times of well over an hour. The staff were shouting at each other. It was absolute chaos. I left the restaurant without my food, even though I had paid at the self-checkout, because I was fed up with waiting and the service was abysmal. I think at one point it was a close call with the fans potentially becoming violent.

Aside from the fact that my food took forever to arrive, they got 3 out of 5 items wrong. Absolutely not recommended for vegetarians/vegans, as I received regular nuggets instead of the McPlant alternative. By far the worst McDonald's I've ever been to.

Half the order was forgotten or filled out incorrectly. Everything was filthy with 10 employees. Half the employees, including the boss, were standing around.

This is the third time they've failed to include sauces and expect customers to leave immediately upon receiving the goods…

We eat here quite often. It's no longer what you'd call fast food, as you constantly have to wait what feels like forever for your order. The food has almost always been great so far. The place itself looks modern at first glance, but on closer inspection, it's rather greasy and could use a deep clean. Unfortunately, the tables have rarely been clean enough to eat right away. The staff has always been friendly.

Can someone please train these employees?! We've been there quite a bit lately (especially late after concerts), and it seems like they don't understand the system with the numbers and the display board. The numbers are NEVER displayed when the order is ready for pickup, but only when processing begins. When it's finally ready to be picked up after ages, the number is tediously shouted across the entire restaurant. If the number is displayed, you can be sure you'll be waiting another 15-20 minutes for your food, which might already be ready. Ice cream, by the way, is always put out first, so after 10 minutes you're left with nothing but soup in a cup. Honestly, I suspect that McDonald's uses the display board to track and analyze order durations. And that by processing orders immediately, they can manipulate their sales figures. But that's pure speculation... It would at least be the only explanation I can think of for why this McDonald's is the only one that does things differently. By the way, ice cream is always put out first, so after 10 minutes you're left with nothing but soup in a cup. The icing on the cake today was that, even after inquiring about our order, instead of the Big Rösti Raclette, we received a regular one in the bag.

We went there to kill some time, but we'll go somewhere else next time. The seating was greasy, and the stools in the waiting area looked like someone had been standing on them with their shoes on. The restrooms weren't exactly clean, and the doors were very narrow. Overall, it was rather dirty and neglected. The staff were very friendly, but also quite slow. We were the only customers in the restaurant at the time and still had to wait almost 15 minutes, which is quite a long time for fast food.

The food was ordered and shown as ready for pickup, but it wasn't handed out for four minutes, even though it was ready, apparently due to deliveries that had priority. On top of that, I was rudely greeted by an older woman with an Eastern European accent. The food was, of course, cold, but they say it's warm – top service!

Extremely long wait times, often packed, and the staff overwhelmed. The restaurant isn't particularly clean. Garbage trucks are overflowing, and no one wipes the tables or cleans the floor in between orders. So far, something has been missing from every single order we've placed. We now check every single detail (sauces, spices, etc.) to make sure everything is there. The food is often only lukewarm or cold because it takes too long to pack the orders. Also, some of the staff don't speak German at all or only very poorly.

Just plain pissed off! The store is still rated way too highly with one star. Something was forgotten in my online order again – and that's just disrespectful to the customer! You pay, but you don't get what you pay for. If the employees don't want to do their job properly, then they should find something else. This kind of service is an absolute disgrace!

I ordered two Double Pac meals and two Happy Mail meals, and each Double Pac meal was missing a burger and the sauces were also faulty. Unfortunately, I paid over €42 and am extremely disappointed!

Lately, I've noticed more and more often that orders are immediately dismissed on the screen. I understand the reason for this, if you want to. Then you can just remove the screen. Besides, I don't think it's hygienic that everything is touched with bare hands. I was glad that the food wasn't eaten in the hand, but rubbed on the arm instead. My grandma always said that dirt cleanses the stomach.

Since this is McDonald's in general, and I've never found a really good McDonald's, my rating already includes the fact that it's just a McDonald's. So, I don't expect five-star cuisine, but the burgers are fresh, not burnt, and not cold. The same goes for the fries, but all in all, they're not a highlight. The food there fills you up, as it should, and that's it for five minutes. And the service is usually overwhelmed with all the equipment and orders and their tasks. I rarely get the feeling that anyone there really knows what they're doing. It happens that when you order a meal, the fries are missing. Or that you order something, like a burger without a pickle, and then there's a pickle on it anyway. That was really weird that one time. Two burgers didn't have a pickle, the third had a pickle, even though all three were supposed to be without. And they have a sign or several signs saying that if you want to know more about video surveillance and what's going on with my data at that moment, you should report to the operator. When I did that, the operator became very snippy at first, and then I waited about 20 minutes for a reply. The answer came from the shift supervisor, and he simply told me that the data isn't stored for long. But he wasn't even allowed to tell me where or for how long, and he wasn't allowed to give me any precise information about what was being recorded, other than the license plate number. Because all of these are attack vectors, he can't give me any information except that it's being recorded and will be deleted at some point. And that's not what they want, and I had to wait for him because only he had the authority to say anything about their video surveillance system. I found it very questionable if I were to strongly doubt everything. And the ambiance, well, it's just a McDonald's, was renovated about five years ago, I think, and is still relatively well-maintained.

Very friendly service, a young man runs the place. Very friendly when my daughter had a small special request. The work here is done with passion. A well-deserved 5 stars.

It couldn't get any dirtier. In the kitchen, dirt was piling up on the floor, and the tables weren't being cleared. The health department should take a look.

On September 14th, we ordered a McDonald's menu: 1 happy meal, 1 cheeseburger, 1 chicken burger. Five items were missing from our order (mayonnaise, sweet and sour sauce, apple cone, and the cheeseburger). We did get them after we asked, but the service was very poor.

At the McDrive, I ordered chocolate ice cream and got Original Mix. The lady at the window probably didn't realize I was talking to her, so I had to go inside. Afterward, I was apparently misunderstood, and they only refilled my order with chocolate sauce. Please consider improving communication at the drive-thru so that orders are taken correctly.

Not again so soon! We waited a total of an hour for our food with two children... Server failure. Okay, it can happen. But it wasn't passed on to the customers. When the food finally arrived, it was cold, as expected. Things were missing. Annoying! Fast food?!? Not even close!

I've had extremely bad experiences at this McD's, several weeks apart. Each time, I had to wait at least 20 minutes, and each time, the fries were only in the fryer for a very, very short time. They were practically white and cracked when you bit into them, truly disgusting. The employees were completely overwhelmed every time. By far the worst McD's I've ever visited anywhere (!).

The visit itself was okay, but I would generally like to see more cleanliness at the tables. It's rare to find a table that isn't still covered in ketchup and grease from the previous diners.

Unfortunately, I can't recommend it. My daughter had a burger that was so flat it was missing almost everything. I had a chicken meal and I still feel sick. The tables weren't wiped, the floor was sticky everywhere, the restrooms were okay. Almost no one spoke German, and no one wore gloves. Hygiene is a 6. Not recommended!!!!!! I'll probably not want to eat McDonald's for a few years.

The food was cold and the app didn't work on-site. When I tried to return the food, it was sent away. We ordered at the drive-thru, pulled into the parking lot because I like to double-check my order, and then noticed the food was cold. I then went to the McDonald's. The employee turned me away, saying it's normal for the food to cool down while driving. I don't know which runway or city tour they sold me instead of the drive-thru, but please – if someone drives in there, be careful; it must be a speed-of-light window. Because even the receipt with the time stamp didn't matter. Terrible conditions The ambiance looks like it's everywhere, unmistakable.

I've eaten here 5 times while driving by. Each time, I waited between 15 and 30 minutes for two burgers. Not that I wouldn't understand under different circumstances, but a short wait is essential. I go here because it's fast food, not because the prices or quality are that good. You have to understand, but it's definitely clean.

I'll keep it short: I wanted to order something. I waited for an hour and a half, then I called. Coincidentally, when the employee was looking for my order, my order was canceled. Thank you.

We were at this branch yesterday (July 31st at 5:30 p.m.). Some of the food was cold, the employees were overwhelmed, the return cart was hopelessly overflowing, but the worst, most disgusting, and certainly most pathogenic thing were the restrooms. I've honestly never seen anything so awful. We're definitely not going back to this branch.

We waited over 30 minutes for two Happy Meals. We had to specify our order, but we didn't get any fruit, drinks, toys, or sauce. As a result, the order took five minutes with a very incompetent lady. We had to repeat the question of whether the children could choose a toy three times before the colleague finally understood and served us.

Because your order has to wait forever and you get cold food, really bad

We regularly visit this McDonald's branch and are always very satisfied. The employees are consistently friendly and cheerful – you simply feel welcome. The food has always been fresh and hot, and the orders are always correct. Definitely one of the best McDonald's experiences for us! Keep it up!

I come here often because it's close to me. It's just sad to see how the quality keeps getting worse. You want a change in the menu, but it's impossible due to the language barrier, just like if you want to get the ice cream from the menu later because it's melting. If the fries aren't fresh but are soggy, you get a strange look. The staff is unfriendly. Why don't they hire people who enjoy working with people? McDonald's is just getting worse.

Actually it's okay, but at Mc Drive you always have to check the bags to make sure you get what you ordered.

The lovely "everything freshly prepared" concept has devolved into utter chaos, at least at the McDonald's on Theodor-Heuß Ring. During peak hours, the crew can't seem to get anything done. Waiting 30 minutes for a €30 order? For fast food? No, that's not possible. Edit: By 2025, things will have gotten EVEN WORSE. Endless wait times. Both at the drive-thru and in the restaurant. Sweaty employees who are completely stressed out.

"One star is too many! Blatant rip-off at McDonald's drive-thru. Today at the McDonald's drive-thru: The long line wasn't even the problem. When it was finally my turn, I ordered three chicken burgers and two large milkshakes from an employee with limited German skills. At the checkout, I received: 1. Only one large and one small milkshake (instead of two large ones) - which I initially accepted without question. 2. A bag with only two burgers (instead of three) - which I only noticed later. 3. Incorrect change: I gave a €50 bill. The receipt showed €12.XX. Instead of the correct €37.XX change, I only received a crumpled €30 - €7 less! This triple rip-off (wrong drinks, missing burger, not enough money) is an absolute disgrace!

I was cheated out of the deposit for a reusable cup. I wanted to eat at the restaurant and chose to do so to save plastic and paper. Unfortunately, I handed over my receipt when I picked up my drink, and they gave me a glass and then told me there's no deposit for that, only for these reusable plastic cups. I hope it was an oversight and not a scam.

I have always had good experiences there

As you would expect, the service is friendly and, after occasional visits over the years, there has been no reason for complaint.

I stopped here for a quick bite today at 7:15 p.m. A very friendly and competent shift manager brought my ordered food to my table very quickly. All the food was hot and freshly prepared. I highly recommend this clean branch.

We've never encountered such friendly staff at McDonald's. Several employees asked if everything was okay and if the food tasted good. We weren't used to that. Great service.

20 nuggets without a SINGLE SAUCE McMart meal without fries, without mayo, without a drink. Unfriendly staff just hangs up if you have a complaint. Always open, no matter what your needs are. The burgers are usually hot, and the restrooms are almost always very clean. My favorite branch in Kiel. Update 2025: The restrooms have become a disaster. One stall was dirty, and the toilet seat was on the floor in another! I'd rather not bother with that... One star less for that 😕

My plant-based Happy Meal didn't contain plant-based nuggets, but chicken nuggets. The toy was also missing :/, and of the three sauces we ordered, only one arrived. We didn't order much more than that, so luckily the rest arrived as expected.

A very, very dirty place. The inside is absolutely filthy. The slides have apparently been dirty for years. The food doesn't taste typical of McDonald's either.

Like always, I had to wait 25 minutes for my food, even though there were only two people in front of me. The staff was nice, and the food was like any other McDonald's, but the wait times at this branch are awful.

Unfortunately, you wait far too long. You can really go to a normal restaurant there. I've been standing here for 30 minutes and still have no food. Employees hardly understand German - everything in general is tiring with you.

One would have thought that after 1 year something might have improved. Unfortunately the opposite. Employees completely overwhelmed. Orders are sometimes forgotten or made incorrectly. Waiting time like in a 5 star kitchen (even there it's faster). Only the food comes out cold at the end. The McDonald's chain's requirements are not met at all. Very sad. The McDonalds does a lot better at Max. And they're twice as full...

The store was absolutely cheeky. I ordered two large Minecraft menus and were given little surprises. I only noticed this after I got home... Well then again and asked about the big surprises. Their answer: “We don’t have any big surprises” How cheeky to add little surprises - the main thing is that you don't notice! But I was still allowed to pay the full price!

Usually not bad, i mostly get what i pay for except like once... this time I noticed the straw got soggy really fast because i was trying to drink the "iced shake choc oreo" and HALF of the cup is filled with ice cubes (4.69€ btw)... took me 15 seconds to drink

Absolute juice shop! A few weeks ago I had to spend over 15 minutes waiting for a McMuffin in the car in the morning to get warts. You have to ask yourself why, apparently there were no rolls there. Proactively inform customers, nothing happened & suddenly it worked. Given a new chance today, we all make mistakes sometimes. No customer far away, drive-in counter, voice: "Wait a moment" again nothing happened, drove away after 5 minutes. A cheeky thing, this way of dealing with customers, what do they actually do for a living?

The food and cleanliness are very satisfactory. Service is quick. I highly recommend it.
