We were in Munich midweek and looking for a good Indian restaurant. Since we weren't familiar with the place, we got a recommendation from ChatGPT—Mataji's Kitchen. The description (“stylish, small, authentic, no artificial additives, excellent tandoori dishes”) was absolutely spot on! Even though it was empty that evening, we were thrilled. We had What the Chicken and Palak Chicken—both dishes were seasoned just the way we wanted them (not too spicy, very aromatic). We also had two glasses of Pinot Blanc, fruity and slightly sweet, a wonderful match. The restaurant is very clean, and the service is very friendly and attentive. Noteworthy: Many people were picking up their food during our visit—it's apparently also very popular as a takeout spot. All in all, a real recommendation—we'd love to come back.😍

Another insider tip for locals. Prices are typically expensive, but understandable given the long cooking times. The interior isn't appealing, but the food is top-notch and very tasty. That's not the most important thing for me.

Great food, great employees and a very open, friendly boss. Samosas, paneer tikka masala, chickpea salad, mango lassi, homemade naan, etc etc, all highly recommended. Food is cooked without flavor enhancers, glutamate, food coloring or other additives and you can taste it. Our absolute favorite Indian restaurant in Munich.

Really a great Indian. We stopped by spontaneously and were completely convinced! Food (and tea) is freshly prepared in-house! Not an industrial product. We had the fried okra pods and the homemade paneer. Both really highly recommended. Happy to come back :)

Very friendly staff. Unfortunately the dishes (there were 3 of us) were submerged in oil. Even the ginger tea didn't help much. Unfortunately I felt sick afterwards.

So delicious! We regularly pick up vegetarian dishes here. The curries and samosas are fresh and extremely aromatic, well above the standard of an average Indian restaurant. The service when picking up food was always quick and very friendly.

We get food here regularly and it's always incredibly good and seasoned to perfection! The service is very nice and the food is ready quickly. Soon we want to eat on site (instead of picking up the food) because the restaurant looks really nice.

The best Indian restaurant we know. The loving hospitality and fantastic food deserve the highest recognition. If it were possible, I would give ten stars. We ended the year 2024 there with many new friends and nice people. Many thanks to everyone who attended and made this wonderful evening possible.

As soon as you enter the restaurant you can smell the scent of Indian cuisine - wonderful. The restaurant team is very attentive and friendly. It is definitely advisable to reserve in advance, as the restaurant cannot accommodate too many people. About the food: The taste of the food is unique. From the starter to the soup to the main course, you can taste the different facets of Indian food culture. There is a particularly large selection for vegetarians/vegans. The longer waiting time for certain dishes can be explained by the fact that they are freshly prepared and you can then taste the high quality. A big compliment to the chefs/kitchen. I would definitely visit this restaurant a second time and can only recommend it.

Unfortunately there was no salt at the table and no waiter within reach for the starter, so I couldn't add salt to the soup because it was a bit bland. The rest of the food was delicious and I would come back

We were here for the first time today and certainly not the last time. A very extensive menu, where it is difficult to decide because the selection of different dishes is really large. The service is very friendly and accommodating. All of our meals tasted excellent, were of very good quality and were portioned in large enough portions. The dessert was also excellent. All in all, a restaurant that can be recommended without reservation.

Ordered three items Dal Makhani, Paneer Tikka masala and Garlic Naan. A very disappointing experience. I specially mentioned about usage of oil and to use either minimum to no oil and if possible replace with ghee or butter but the dal makhani was full of oil and I literally had to use multiple tissue papers to absorb the excess oil and it was not the taste of Dal Makhani as it was on the sweeter side and didn't feel good. if you name Mataji's kitchen atleast respect the request and health of people. My mataji would feed me with this much oil in a week. Paneer Tikka masala was not grilled or marinated and it was also on the sweet side. Who the hell makes tikka masala as sweet. It was actually butter paneer masala but the taste was not super disappointing although the paneer was quite hard. Naan was really hard by the time it reached me. Maybe it taste ok if I order it in the restaurant. The quantity of the rice was too less and it was not enough even for a kid I assume.

Very tasty dishes. Food is usually very spicy but if you ask they make the food just as mild as you want it. Waiter very attentive. The owner takes very good care of his guests and brings a nice personal touch atmosphere.

We have only been here twice (once in a large group and once as a couple) and we are very impressed. The food is extremely tasty and the price is also really good. There is a large menu with lots of choice. The service is attentive and very nice. Above all, the manager of the restaurant welcomes you very warmly and advises you on your choice of food in a nice and humorous way. You sit comfortably in a medium-sized room. The toilets are also perfectly fine. This restaurant is one of our absolute favorite Indian restaurants, especially because of the really friendly service, and we will definitely come here often

Great place. We were there for a birthday dinner. We were warmly welcomed with birthday decorations at our table. The food was excellent. Very tasty, incredibly fresh and diverse. The tandoori duck and chicken (chicken tikka) were tender and tasted excellent. The Hugo was prepared with love with lots of fresh mint and lime. We even got champagne on the house as a birthday greeting. The waitresses were very friendly and accommodating. I can recommend the restaurant to everyone and will definitely come back. Thanks for this lovely meal!

I went for the lunch menu, just to try the food, and it was good. Chicken jalfrezi was tasty and the sauce was delicious. A salt lassi was also very nice. I will go back again, as there are probably other good things to try.

The service was friendly and accommodating. The menu is huge, you can choose from so many different types of meat. We had mango chicken once and lamb tikka masala once. We also had 2x naan bread, one normal and one with garlic. Everything tasted great. I had also ordered a Mango Lassi, the standard version, which was also very tasty. Priced in the middle range, but definitely okay for the quality. I can only recommend!

Being Indian, I was surprised by the authenticity, taste, and quality of food served here. The restaurant had plenty of seating, the staff were quite polite, and hygiene was top-notch. Their portion size was ample for two, and the taste was top-notch. Their dal soup was amongst the best I've had, and the naans were delicious. I would love to visit them again. Overall a must recommend for anyone craving Indian food in Munich.

After the very good reviews, I went with my friends last Friday. The food was initially mixed up, then an extremely spicy meal was served instead of a mild one. The spicy food gave me extreme bloating and stomach cramps. At the end the waitress just rudely said that what I had eaten was typical non-connoisseur food and that it therefore didn't matter how it tasted. I am very disappointed with this Indian.
