L'Osteria in Lübeck

Over all was a good experience. However there were some details that made my experience a little bit worse. The food that I wanted to order in the menu was not available and they served me a complete different dish I didn't ask for. But the waiter was nice and we could exchange it for another. However the rice of the second dish that I ordered was not cooked properly and was still too hard. Also the tomatoes from the appetizers tasted like canned tomato, far from natural taste. The food, honestly, didn't have the quality that I expected and it was far away from the Italian cousin I tasted before in other places. However it was a nice restaurant to spend the evening and the waiters were nice.

Everything went perfectly - highly recommended, even for larger groups (there were ten of us).

Hi, we had reserved a table for two at 3:00 PM. Our first experience that day: the service was completely overwhelmed. This only changed when Julia took over our table. Thanks again for that. The food was good, although we preferred the sliced ​​bread with the appetizer platter to the pizza bread pieces (which were quite dry). It was our first time there. The restaurant is small and cozy, and despite (or perhaps because of) the holiday, it was quite busy. The pizzas are huge, delicious, and even, which isn't always the case, vegan and/or vegetarian options are available. The prices are reasonable. We highly recommend it! We'd love to come back again... Reservations are advisable.

The food was delicious, the pizzas were enormous. A great option is to order half and half, so you get two for one. All the staff were very friendly, we felt comfortable, the music was a bit loud, but that's just a minor point. All in all, highly recommended! Reservations are definitely recommended.

The Osteria is generally worth a visit. Unfortunately, at 5:45 pm they didn't have either peach iced tea or lasagna. That was really disappointing. So I had to eat something completely different and our child had to drink something else. We were also seated near the entrance. The door kept opening and closing, and arriving guests sometimes left it open. The wind was constantly blowing over us. We were cold, and the food quickly got cold. It was -2°C outside. A curtain and perhaps a sign indicating how to behave in these conditions would be helpful.

Whenever I'm in Lübeck, I only eat here! Super delicious food and great service...what more could you want? 😉

The restaurant lived up to our expectations. The pizza was good, a bit too large in my opinion, and filled the table when we ordered three pizzas. Despite the pre-Christmas hustle and bustle, the service was excellent and without any complaints. The noise level was quite noticeable, but still tolerable. Prices are reasonable… however, the tip selection on the payment terminal is annoying. Otherwise, we'd gladly return.

The restaurant was very, very crowded, but the team was still incredibly fast and very, very friendly. And they can carry plates professionally. A truly wonderful experience. Highly recommended if you're in Lübeck's city center.

Excellent pizza, and red housewine far better than expected. Pizza arrived 30° Celcius. The guests beside us got steaming hot pizzas. We did not send back the pizza, since the waiters were very busy och we had already set them in extra work, when they had got our wine-order wrong. We planned to compensate, with exclude tip. But the waiter chosed to put tip on our bill. I recommend tap water, since the bottles are expensive. Next time in Lübeck we know where to go. But hope for hot pizza.

We met with two groups, one after the other, and it was a bit noisy at first. However, the service was attentive and the pizza was really big. I went back again with a colleague in Hamburg afterwards.

The owner would be wise to hire more service staff and train them in structured work practices. We waited 10 minutes at the door to be shown to our table. We were seen, but nothing happened. It took about 10 minutes to order drinks (the waiter was friendly). For one coffee, two beers, one water, and a soft drink, we waited 45 minutes. We observed other guests also waiting impatiently while tables weren't cleared or re-let because no one seemed to be taking care of it. This needs improvement.

They have delicious, fairly large pizzas in many varieties, as well as pasta. The atmosphere is okay. However, it's also very hectic and loud.

We had an unforgettable evening at L'Osteria. After a short wait, and without a reservation, we got a table. That was great, and we were looking forward to a delicious meal. Our waiter, Jakob, was very attentive and incredibly friendly. Unfortunately, we never received the pizzas we ordered. The manager then offered us pasta as an alternative (replacement meal), because pasta is quicker... By then, we were completely fed up and declined, as we had already spent two hours waiting.

A quarter of my pizza was burnt. I was too shy to say anything, but I wasn't happy about it. My friends, however, found it very amusing. The remaining three-quarters were delicious, though. You should know.

The five of us women had to leave our table, which we had reserved for a week, because the restaurant wanted to use it for other customers. The new table was dirty. After asking twice, it was finally cleaned. The reserved table we had to vacate still hadn't been occupied by new guests after an hour. This meant we had to move for absolutely nothing. The pasta portions were smaller than a child's portion, and the pasta was cold. The pasta arrabbiata was simply a tomato sauce with no hint of spice. The first waitress was very rude, saying, "Well, you've already eaten a lot." The second waiter was equally rude and simply placed a chili sauce on the table. The waiters' behavior towards us customers was unacceptable. I can no longer recommend this restaurant. They seem to be trying to cater to a large number of customers. The waiters are rude, the food is bad, cold, and there's far too little of it. You're pressured to order dessert. The only thing that tasted good was the Campari, which was awful. I am extremely disappointed by the way the staff are treated; they're clearly ripping people off. A very simple pasta dish in children's portions costs more than twelve euros. The prices and the behavior don't justify the atmosphere. It's not worth it. Stay away.

Spaghetti carbonada was very, very dry and not recommended.

I live downtown so I've eaten at L'Osteria and ordered from them quite a lot - everything has always been great. I recently took several international colleagues here, expecting to be the German translator for the group, but was surprised when they had English menus and all the staff happily spoke to us in English. I was really impressed by how welcome L'Osteria and the staff made my colleagues feel in a country where they don't know the language. Bravo and keep up the good work!

If I could, I wouldn't give any stars. Whether you order in person or through Wolt's delivery service, you wait forever. Today I ordered shortly after 9 pm and waited and waited. My order was then rejected at 11 pm. That's absolutely outrageous. Maybe they should just replace the entire staff; something seems to be seriously wrong.

Disappointing and completely unprofessional! We ate at Lostarea with our young child. Because our child was restless, we wanted to have our leftover two and a half pizzas packed up to go. In the rush, we unfortunately didn't pay attention to how they were packaged – a big mistake. When we got home, we discovered that the pizzas had simply been carelessly wrapped in paper. Two different pizzas were slapped together and then stuffed into crumpled paper. No cardboard box, no separation – completely soggy and unappetizing. This simply shouldn't happen in a restaurant of this price range! We are very disappointed and will certainly not be returning.

On the first evening I sat by the door in a very drafty place.

The food was delicious. However, the service was outrageous. We visited this place on August 2, 2025. We ordered dinner, and everything was fine until we asked for the bill. We had to wait 30 minutes for it. I really wouldn't have minded, but we were with our one-year-old twins, and it was impossible to explain it to them. Despite our requests, the service did nothing to expedite the process. Despite the good food, we are deeply disgusted by this behavior and the place.

Although we immediately noticed a free, unreserved table for two upon arrival, we dutifully stood outside the entrance because the sign there asked us to "be nice" and wait to be assigned a table. We were initially ignored for five minutes by staff who didn't seem particularly stressed. Then a slim waiter in his 30s, more of a dark-skinned type, approached us and arrogantly stood in front of us. We both said a polite hello and waited for the greeting... which never came. Instead, a: "Yes, please, what do YOU ​​want here (we're both obviously over 30 and usually dressed normally and cleanly)?" We said "Hello" again, to which we received a tart "Yes, good day" (it was evening). WE wanted a table. We were assigned the table right next to the flowerpot at the entrance (outside, after all), which everyone pushes past. He still "needed" our desired table. So we left right away and ordered a delicious Thai curry and a bowl at Nui Ramen next door, with impeccable service. At NIEDEREGGER down the street, we also got delicious ice cream with a friendly smile. We'll definitely stop by L'Osteria again—but then back in Hamburg.

We had made a reservation as a precaution, but unfortunately, we only got the "cat table" right by the entrance. It was extremely drafty and crowded there, as that's where the reservation table was. I politely asked if another table was available. They curtly denied it. Five minutes later, a couple who had also reserved for two arrived and were assigned a table in the middle of the restaurant... We then decided to leave the restaurant (we hadn't ordered yet), and I wanted to be fair and tell the gentleman in charge of reservations. I stood there for what felt like 10 minutes, completely unnoticed, until he came. I told him that the table was now free again and I didn't like the fact that, when I asked, he hadn't given me the table for two that the couple after us got. "I could have asked, and maybe he would have given us the table then..." ??? I told him again that I had asked, "No, you didn't!" ........ Unfortunately, I was speechless, so I didn't ask for his name. But on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at 6 p.m., only one person was assigning guests, something another waiter had previously pointed out to me. I work in the service industry myself, and so I can judge that this behavior was completely abysmal. We then found a really nice place 50 meters away with an appealing ambiance, very good food, and better prices, so we could start our "special" evening the way we imagined. It's a shame, but I wasn't aware that L'Osteria had mutated into a "fast food chain" with poor service due to overworked employees. Besides, the ambiance was more reminiscent of a train station concourse. We are truly disappointed!

If you've ever been to Losteria, you know they serve large pizzas. That was the case here as well. We were there with four people and ordered four pizzas. First of all, a big compliment: our reservation was moved up considerably without any problems. The pizzas tasted good, but unfortunately, that was it. On Monday, September 22nd, we were there around 12:30 p.m. with my mother and my two children. After about 25 minutes, we had to ask the waiter if we could order. His simple reply was, "I'll be right there." He then took the order at a table whose guests had arrived significantly later than us and then moved on to other tables without coming back to us. I then approached another waiter, but he also cleared a table first instead of taking our order. Totally rude and unprofessional as a waiter. My children were very hungry by then, but despite our polite inquiry, we were completely ignored. My 5-year-old son says: never again to L'Osteria in Lübeck.

The pasta here, in particular, always impresses us, and the pizzas look good too. However, you can wait a bit longer for a table and get shuttled around the restaurant. So, if you don't make a reservation, you should allow yourself some time. It's also quite loud inside, depending on where you sit.

The service was completely overwhelmed. Empty plates were served 25 minutes after the starter, and pizza arrived 60 minutes after the starter, more lukewarm than warm. We said something, but the response was, "It's just a lot of fun." We also sat in front of empty glasses, and pizza plates weren't served for another 25 minutes. The pizza would have tasted good, but not warm. They apologized at the same time, but said they hadn't told her anything. With more competent service staff or more employees, it could have been a pleasant meal.
