L'Osteria in Lübeck

We had reserved a table at short notice during the week. When we arrived the restaurant was already very busy and we had to wait for our table, but that didn't bother us. Nevertheless, we were quickly offered something to drink, which we gratefully accepted. The service staff were absolutely great and remained friendly and polite at all times despite the stress. The food was, as always, very, very tasty. Only the place where we sat wasn't ideal. It was very drafty here as we were sitting in the winter garden. But it was great that we were allowed to take our dog with us.

We visited L'Osteria five times during our six-day stay in Travemünde. That speaks for itself. Even in the most stressful situations, the waiters remain calm, don't create a hectic atmosphere and are also very friendly. Rarely have we felt so comfortable, we always enjoyed our food and it was always quick. But what was particularly noticeable was the good service, which is something you rarely find anymore. Even when the restaurant was full, we received a friendly welcome, even without a reservation.

The pasta dishes were very tasteless, we had to get Parmesan ourselves and unfortunately we didn't get enough.

The restaurant is really nicely located and the waitresses are very polite and accommodating. Always my pleasure

Very friendly and fast service. Pizza is very large and of good quality, price/performance is right. View from the terrace directly onto the Trave. It's great to watch the ships passing by while you eat. The terrace is also easy to use in the cooler season; the heaters radiate a lot of heat.

Great location over two floors.

Some of the staff were very unfriendly

Had a pizza on the go as it was full and we were a big gang. Had their Salami Cheese Pizza with their homemade Bruschetta and it was delicious. Where we live here in Germany we have also an L’Osteria Restaurant and it’s always a treat to eat there. So when we saw that there was one here in Travemünde we went there with open hearts. Unfortunately all of the seats were taken plus a lot of reservations and cause we needed a bigger table we decided (on their recommendation) to take a pizza on the go plus their Bruschetta. The best! Forgot to take some pictures of the dishes…..

I cannot understand the negative reviews about service. Without exception, everyone was super nice, welcomed us enthusiastically even without a reservation and was able to organize a table. Food came quickly and was tasty. The attention regarding drinks was remarkable and always pleasant, friendly and communicative. Keep it up... 👍🏻

We went there twice for pizza. As always, the pizzas are recommended at L'Osteria. We were not satisfied with the service. On the second visit, we and the neighboring table left the table again after waiting for 30 minutes - without being able to place an order. I had the impression that the staff's processes for ordering, delivering food and drinks to the tables, clearing tables, etc. were not running smoothly.

We came across this restaurant on our weekend trip. The staff is extremely friendly, competent and, above all, patient. The food was very tasty and exactly to the point. Even children can watch the preparation and the chefs even have fun with it. We definitely recommend it

We ordered a pizza there. It tasted very good and was huge. There are also open wines: quarter, half and whole liters. We had a red one and it had a very good, slightly sour aftertaste. Plus a typical bottle of Saint Pellegrino. The service was very attentive and the food came quite quickly. We sat outside because we had our dog with us, but dogs are also allowed inside. It is right on the water and the big ships pass by. I can only recommend it. The price level is completely okay for this location. Two pizzas a bottle of water and wine for €53.

Tasted very very tasty Great service

After a long time I am once again experiencing 6 star service!!! Very accommodating and super child-friendly! After watching the pizza being made, my little boy was allowed to make a pizza himself! Unfortunately, our visit to L'Osteria Travemünde was very disappointing. First we were greeted by a friendly waiter who promised us a table that would soon be available. However, when we sat down, another waiter (maybe the boss?) came and asked us to get up again because he still had to clean the table. When we explained to him that the other waiter had already guaranteed us the seat, he reacted annoyed and just said: "Yes, the other waiter is a bit..." - a pretty disrespectful and unprofessional comment towards his colleague. After cleaning the table, he gave us the menus and promised to take the order straight away. But that never happened. Even though he passed us several times and saw us clearly, he completely ignored us. After waiting for over 30 minutes, we finally left disappointed. We wouldn't have expected such poor service in a restaurant of this type!

Very good food and very courteous service. The building is very beautiful and the terrace is a hit when the weather is nice. Only the first floor has a bit of a downturn in terms of ambience.

We were there on a late summer Saturday afternoon. Very busy, we still managed to get a table for two without any problem. Service friendly and quick. Gigantic pizza 🍕 and delicious pasta 🍝. Price performance is right. Here, like in many places, you don't pay for the beautiful view

Tourist trap Five pizzas Pasta lime Two children's dishes Service overwhelmed, rude, snippy. Unable. Neither dessert nor coffee offered. Waiting time more than 45 minutes! Let's leave out small mistakes: forgetting a dish, partially forgetting drinks, charging an item twice... in terms of taste: pizzas 3- because the prices are too overpriced for the level even in 2024. On average 16 euros for a pizza. Everything is simply loveless and bland in taste.

Went there for pizza with 6 people and two dogs. We got a table upstairs with a great view. However, the volume of the music was not appropriate. Two couples next to us got up again after waiting so long for a table because they simply couldn't have a conversation. When we asked if the music could be turned down a little, we were told that it was not our responsibility or the second person said that the kitchen was too loud and that's why the music had to be so loud. Then we asked if it would be possible to get a bowl of water for the dogs as it was very warm in the restaurant. The first person immediately agreed and wanted to take care of it. However, nothing ever arrived (the restaurant was also packed, so you can understand that something was lost.) Then I went down to the bar and asked someone else very nicely if I could get a bowl, if I had one myself Toilet filled. The answer to that was that you didn't have any bowls and that's why it didn't work. Conclusion: great view. A flop all around.

Everything is fine as usual. I thought it was great that there was an elevator for the upper area, so you weren't restricted when it came to strollers or wheelchairs. Food and service great and friendly.

I give 5 stars for the food which is very good... but in an Italian restaurant there MUST BE at least one ITALIAN WHO WORKS THERE...

It was very busy, but we were seated quickly and the food came quickly. Food was very good, pizza and pasta, both delicious. Friendly service and quick. Because it was so crowded, it was less comfortable and a bit noisy. We were too late to sit outside; the view of the Warnow would have been nicer.

The food is good. The service is beyond bad. You are not recognized as a guest and when you speak to the staff you are sometimes treated rudely. But the location and the view are great.

I've eaten there once before and ordered pizza to pick up several times. The location and the associated view are very nice. When I was eating there, we waited about 45 minutes for food. But the food itself was good. Ordering for larger groups also worked very well last year. Unfortunately this year it didn't work so well. We ordered a large number of pizzas, but despite ordering them 5 hours in advance, they were not ready and we waited 45 minutes. If larger orders don't go through because it's pretty busy or there's little staff, that's okay. It would just be nice if the order was rejected.

I must admit that I was disappointed with this restaurant because the food is not as delicious as they describe. The bruschetta we ordered had such large pieces of tomatoes that fell off the bread, making it impossible to eat it with it. The pizza served was cold, but we enjoyed it very much. The carbonara was very good, as we expected, but the zucchini with shrimps was tasteless that day. We definitely can't recommend it. The lasagna was rather average and did not stand out in any way from what is available in stores. The beautiful view is definitely a big advantage of this place. The waiters here deserve praise because they show full professionalism and politeness towards customers.

Great view right at the estuary. Nice terrace for lunch. We had the lunch special. One pizza with a drink, one salad with a drink. Everything was prepared very quickly and tasted extremely delicious. The service was nice and quick. Not too crowded during the week. Card payment possible without any problems.

L'Osteria is well known for its huge pizzas 🍕, which a normal eater would be better off sharing. I particularly like the Benedictine Helles.

The food was OK. Not good but not bad either. Waiting times between sitting down and getting food of around 1 hour were normal that evening. Children at the next table were broken and even after asking, the table was not supplied. Overall, there was also very strong heat in the building, especially on the upper floor.

Nice restaurant on the promenade, outdoor seating, Mediterranean flair. Friendly and quick service, moderate prices. We felt very comfortable there.

Pizza is very large, but there are few fillings. The edge wasn't crispy, the bottom was very, very thin. It was tasty, but I wasn't full.

The pizza was super tasty and huge, just like you would expect from L'Osteria. Despite the full house, service was surprisingly quick and the pizza was ready in no time. We even got a table without a reservation, which made us very happy. The only downside: The pizza is a bit expensive, but considering the quality and size, it's still worth it.

The service when placing the order was attentive and friendly, the service when ordering and paying was stressful! From sitting down to leaving with a stomach ache because the next guests had already been placed at my table, 35 (!) minutes passed. No trace of enjoyment! I had just put the last bite in my mouth when the plate was cleared and I was asked if I wanted to pay now. This was done immediately and the next guests came to my table… In addition, my portion of pasta was so small that I ate it all (actually, I always take a leftover home with me). I ordered Spaghetti al Pomodore e Basilico: unfortunately I also missed basil and garlic in the dish. But the spaghetti was well cooked.

Don't make fun of yourself here. We came in at 9:50 p.m. and the kitchen is at 10 p.m. There was a waiter who said the kitchen was closed on a Friday at 9:50 p.m. Ask that the kitchen is open until 10 p.m. Did he cave in? And yet we were able to order. So people, don't let yourself be fooled here in the store. It was still great to eat here, but the service afterwards was good too. No go as before

Great service, very courteous staff who always kept an eye on the children and requests were addressed without any problems.

We were looking forward to a delicious pizza. Unfortunately it was totally cold and was even more cold than the 3 pieces of mozzarella that were just on top. The taste really wasn't great either, it's good that there are more options for hopefully better pizza in Travemünde. Addendum: The reference to fresh products does not justify cold pizza. If I want something like that, I eat spaghetti ice cream.

We've been there many times. Disappointed for the first time today. The pizza was dry and very sparingly topped. A smaller bowl has now been used for the mixed salad.

I sometimes find system catering among all the tourist traps very pleasant. The service was nice and the food was good as usual. Anyone who doesn't know just try it out and those who know it won't be surprised.

Don't let this store give you vouchers. They will no longer be accepted because they are supposedly unreadable. If you write to customer service you won't get an answer. Very unfortunate. Never again!

Almost completely without reception, the waiters ignore you. Tables outside are not served at 5 p.m., after 15 minutes of absolutely no attention, even though a waitress looked at us several times, we left. Impossible!

Food was so-so by L’Osteria standards. The bolognese in the lasagne was very watery. The pizza is a classic Losteria pizza. Nothing special except the size. Waiting times were slightly late but still within tolerable limits. But service all around was very nice.

Food was good, nothing to complain about. However, the service was very unfriendly and without formal politeness such as thank you, you're welcome. When it came to paying and no tip was given because the service was annoyed and unfriendly, the card machine was packed up as quickly as possible and she left without wishing her a nice evening or anything else. Definitely leaves something to be desired

Very long waiting time when ordering. The waitress (always changing) gives the impression that she is unwilling to work; it is only after several attempts to signal the waitress that she wants to order that she comes to the table “annoyed”. Same thing on the second visit, only after 20 minutes of waiting, the ordering process didn't even take place. Despite few guests and many service employees, nobody seemed to feel responsible, so we then went to another restaurant, where fortunately everything went smoothly.

...Today we made "the second attempt" at L'Osteria, which you always like to write about in your responses to recessions. Unfortunately just as disappointing as the first time...

Food was great!! The service was catastrophic, the waitress (strong and with a tattoo on her left arm) showed no consideration and was very unfriendly. During the meal and after the meal, no one even asked if everything was OK!! After everything she asked us when we got the bill if we wanted to tip 15%??? Never experienced it, not even worth one star for the service, a shame for the store...

I would like to give 0 stars for the reception at L'Osteria in Travemünde. Late yesterday afternoon we wanted to go out to eat inside the restaurant. A waiter served the table there and we waited near the bar to be seated. Unfortunately the waiter ignored us and since there was only one table available, we sat down at that table There were still 2 empty glasses there. After a while he appeared and asked us in a completely unfriendly manner without greeting us why we had already sat down at the table. We then got up and left the restaurant. Apparently there is no need to treat guests kindly, there are enough tourists in Travemünde.

Very good service, a very friendly waiter, unfortunately the lasagna that was ordered was burnt, on the other hand the pizza was delicious, I hope they improve with the lasagna.

The fried goat cheese salad was great - including the dressing! The waiter was attentive and very friendly!

It was well attended and we had to wait a bit. No problem. Staff was friendly and the food was very well portioned and tasty. However, I would have liked the staff to have been a little more attentive at times to take further orders or our payment request at the end. I think that even in stressful phases you could take a look at the guest tables more often... But that's complaining on a high level ;-)

After we reserved, we got a great table with a great view. The service was very quick and attentive. The food was known to be good, there was nothing to complain about. We will be back definitely.

We always go to the Losteria in HH, everything is great there. Food, ambience, service is a smooth 1. We always go out there satisfied. But in Travemünde it's terrible, we've been there twice now, we had it again tried. But the pizza tasted watery, then the wrong one came first. It takes an eternity for the service to arrive. They all look so stressed, no smiles, nothing. In Hamburg it's exactly the opposite, the service is always friendly. But in Travemünde they should definitely change something. What I also don't understand is that you can't reserve a table, even though it's online and outside. Despite everything, I wish you a nice day

Absolute impudence!! I've never experienced that you order bruscetta for 4 people (7.95 per person) and get 4 small half slices of bread in a bag with a mini bowl (small dip size) and have to share it... it's a joke and that Salad looks super dreary... I wouldn't recommend the store to anyone...

On July 13th, 2024 we were turned away from the door by a camera at 9 p.m. because the kitchen was supposed to be closed. And if we were to order something, it would only be pizza. Apparently the staff didn't like our 4 children. Super customer oriented, you would definitely want to visit the store again “irony”. Never again

Everything was great. Staff top. We just couldn't finish the fairly large pizzas completely. But the taste is great. Special requests were fulfilled.

Addendum 2024: It is unbelievable that the experience experienced in 2023 can be made even worse. We thought a lot might have happened this year and we would definitely give L’Osteria Travemünde another chance. We placed an order (order number 0266) at 7:16 p.m. for pickup at 8:00 p.m. We received a confirmation via email and Paypal. When we arrived at the store we were told that the order was being processed. After another 10 minutes they asked if the order was the “carbonara” order. This was denied because we ordered another pasta dish and a pizza. After another 5 minutes, another waitress was asked if she had accepted the order. We then said that the order had been placed online. The order was then checked on the PC and we were informed that no order had been received. We were asked (quite rudely) whether we even knew what we had ordered, we were also told that we couldn't actually order online at the moment because this was blocked by the branch and whether we hadn't ordered from the Lübeck branch. After further discussions and waiting times, the order could be taken away after 35-40 minutes. In total, we waited 1 hour 45 minutes from ordering to picking up a pasta and a pizza, including a whole hour in the restaurant. I wish I could have made a positive change in the original recession, but after an experience like that I probably won't have another chance. Unfortunately miles away from the usual Losteria service. Yesterday we wanted to go out for dinner with 4 adults and 3 children. The day before yesterday we had already asked whether we could reserve a table. We were told it wasn't possible to take reservations at the moment, but we'll manage it somehow. Unfortunately, when we stood in front of the location yesterday, we were immediately turned away. You could try again in half an hour, but promise nothing. No offer to block a table, move tables (there were enough free tables for two) or Similar. In addition, a very unfriendly manner so that you immediately noticed that you were not welcome.

There is nothing better, everything is very harmonious

Unfortunately the weakest impression of a L'Osteria so far. If I didn't know it better from other restaurants, I wouldn't come back. Why? Pizza lukewarm (must have been standing), pizza base was missing and service overall too stressed. No bright Büble anymore on offer.

The view is great, but the food is unfortunately convenience food

Friendly, nice and fast. If we had known that the pizzas were that big, we would have only ordered one. It was delicious (calzone) and we are still full today. :-) . Price-wise, it's perfectly fine for the size.

We were here on vacation, didn't feel like cooking much, and we also like to eat at the Losteria when we're back home :) This branch is probably only about half the size, but the pizza comes to the table hotter, crispier, faster and now comes the best part, even the cutlery is better :) Beautifully located, directly on the Trave, friendly staff, at the same time on the ball. Quality even above average.
