L'Osteria in Lübeck

My visit to Lostaria was a complete disappointment. Our waiter said it was his first day - that can happen, but a certain standard should still be maintained. First he made us wait for a long time, then he brought us the wrong food twice, and between these mistakes we had to wait almost an hour! When we finally went to pay, I discovered that he had included all the incorrect orders on the bill - and there was no way to reverse that. I have rarely experienced such a chaotic and frustrating experience. Once and never again!

We had been making reservations for a birthday for a while and would have liked a nice table for it. Instead, the four of us sat very cramped at a round table that barely had room for drinks and food. The service was poor, orders were carried out incorrectly and uncoordinated, there was no apology or kind word. The food was good, but nothing special. The pizzas are very poorly topped considering their size. We expected a little more and were really disappointed.

Good pizza. According to my taste it could have been a little hotter but overall I was satisfied. The small tables are a bit annoying and it is loud. But the operator can't do anything about it.

The location is very nice. The food was good but there was a bit of room for improvement when it came to seasoning. I had ordered soup as a starter and Bruscetta was brought to me. When I pointed this out, the service person's eyes rolled several times and he very rudely took the wrong one back. He then came back with bruscetta and the pizzas we ordered. I pointed out again that I didn't order that, conversations followed (very loudly) with the other waitress and he then took the bruscetta back with him. We asked for cutlery so we could eat...he left. We spoke to another employee and asked for cutlery, which was brought immediately. The big thing was the payment (there were three of us and we paid individually); when paying in cash, our waitress simply added a tip to himself by rounding up, after all he had no change - that's what he said. Unfortunately I won't be eating there again because of this experience.

We really liked it. The food is super tasty and didn't take long at all. The service is very nice and quick. We will definitely come back.

Very tasty food and very friendly staff. We were here for a celebration, the waitress found out about this in a conversation and at the end brought a piece of cake with candles to the celebration without asking, very attentive and friendly

I was eating here alone today on a Monday around 5 p.m. I was really lucky to find a place, a lot of people were sent away because they didn't have a reservation (at the beginning of February) I had 2 bruschettas as a starter and spaghetti Bolognese as my main course, both tasted perfect. Only the service seemed a bit overwhelmed, sometimes everything arrived a little late, but you're not on the run. Dogs are welcome

We had reserved a table for 18:30. It took another ten minutes for us to be seated after which no-one returned to take a drinks order until we went to the bar to ask 20 minutes later at 19:00. By 19:20 no drinks had arrived so we left. The staff are clearly overwhelmed and massively stressed by a system designed to maximise table coverage and turnover with no clear organisation (e.g. the poor guy behind the bar was also trying to seat guests and serve tables). Other families with small kids who arrived shortly after were still waiting to even place a drinks order when we left. Overall, very disappointing especially considering we had reserved a day in advance.

50 minutes and still no drinks. Disastrous service. Never again.

Friendly staff, fast service and delicious food. Design invites you to feel good, dogs are also welcome. Reservations are advisable. The view of the Trave is beautiful, you can watch ships sailing past.

1/5 stars – Disappointing across the board The visit was a big disappointment. The pizza is huge, but the taste is a disaster - extremely thin, almost like tarte flambée dough, and overall just not what you would expect from a good pizza. The pasta was completely tasteless and even caused an unpleasant scratchy throat. The gorgonzola sauce didn't taste like gorgonzola at all. At 7:30 p.m. several dishes and drinks were no longer available - absolutely incomprehensible. The music was way too loud, the tables were too small for the oversized pizzas. There was no more espresso at 8:30 p.m., even though it was supposed to be open until 11 p.m., and new guests were turned away at 8:20 p.m. In addition, the entrance door did not have an automatic closer, so we had to constantly close it ourselves - particularly unpleasant for those who were sitting right next to it and freezing. Overall, a completely disappointing experience. Not recommended!

We had to wait about 10 minutes for a table despite having a reservation. There were probably technical problems. The food was very good and was delivered promptly. The service consisted of bringing the pizzas and later the bill. The waiter completely ignored us, which was very annoying. We definitely won't come back because we also know other restaurants in Travemünde.

The food is great, as in every restaurant in the chain. You can go there with children or just as a couple. The only thing I didn't particularly like was the management of the reservations. It felt like there were more appointments being accepted than there were tables available. This was also the case with our reservation. We arrived and there was already a crowd at the entrance because of course we weren't the only ones who had made a reservation and the person who was supposed to distribute the tables wasn't there. When she appeared and it was finally our turn, I just thought: "Where is she going to accommodate us (four people) now, everything here is full." We were actually allocated a table for 10 people, but with the information that we would have to leave the reserved table in two hours. It sounds like there were still a lot of tables available, but that wasn't the case. For example, a group of three people had to sit at a table of two. Well, we were lucky again. Shortly afterwards the lady came with another family (four) who had also made a reservation and sat them at our table. There was enough space and my wife and I are sociable people so that was totally fine. In another restaurant, such a constellation was called a “blind date” because you never know who will sit down at the table. 😁 Now something about the toilets: They are on the first floor, so not suitable for disabled people, although the sliding door that is difficult to open doesn't make it any easier. Once you have overcome the first, there is a second one and then you are finally in the quiet place, this applies equally to women and men. Conclusion: food great, Space a bit cramped, staff friendly, Toilet not suitable for disabled people.

The pizza was very greasy, the oil ran down the pizza. The staff seems very stressed and sometimes uncoordinated, but they are nice.

It's so nice that I had wonderful Advent evenings on my pre-Christmas vacation with lots of bad weather and three times in one week!! to eat, just beautiful. Very good price-performance ratio, top Primitivo, warm service, cozy place by the window and good red wine and a wonderful view of the harbor and lights... I think of you so fondly. Until next time in Travemünde, all the best and keep it up. I was also able to safely pick up my thermal gloves, which had probably fallen off, the next day as the staff had left them as a precaution. A clear recommendation, be very hungry, the portions... simply delicious

Basically a great restaurant with delicious food, nice ambience and mainly nice employees… However, on January 6th, 2025, I was there with my family for my mother's birthday and have never met such a rare unfriendly person as the young guy with glasses and very short hair who was working at the bar that evening. Even though you just ask a normal question, the guy really answers so unfriendly and makes fun of you, I've never experienced that anywhere else. It's a shame, because the food is very tasty, because we won't go there again where an employee like that works!

Nicely located, clean location with friendly staff. You don't have to look for the pizzas on the plate, you have to look for the plate under the pizzas. Simply great and very tasty. We'll be back.

Classic L'Osteria. The food was delicious. Unfortunately, it's incredibly noisy when it's full - the layout makes this worse. But you can watch the ships. The service couldn't keep up, we were only asked once what we wanted to eat and drink and then there was basically no service anymore, which was a bit of a shame. You should definitely make a reservation for evenings on weekends, even in the low season.

Unfortunately not recommended. Food was always okay, location is MEGA, right on the water. Unfortunately, unfortunately the service is subpar. This evening (January 11th, 2025) the bird was finally shot down. As soon as you go in there is a sign clearly indicating that you will be seated. An employee greeted us shortly after entering and pointed out that since we hadn't made a reservation, "the colleague will be coming soon". - it wasn't full now, free tables, no reservation cards. Well, okay. After waiting for 10 minutes, the employee pointed out again that “the colleague is coming soon”, and now other people waiting join them. Everyone is referred to the ominous colleague who simply doesn't come. After 15 minutes it was really too stupid for us and we left. It was only mediocrely attended, there were free tables, nothing was offered to drink or anything else. But that no employee is able to place one, except for that one ominous colleague. How little interest you want to have in your guests. Cheeky across the board. PS: We know from previous visits that the food is okay and the location is great. Service mediocre to poor.

Unfortunately, the waiter wasn't motivated to deliver drinks or take orders yesterday. Furthermore, the special occasion stated in the reservation was not taken into account. We are used to something different from this restaurant.

In my opinion, L'Osteria is one of the best pizzeria chains I know. The food is incredibly tasty and you will be more than full. Pizzas larger than Tellet and super thin and crispy. Today I was out with super good friends and I chose this pizzeria. Without a reservation, nothing will happen here at the weekend, or it will be very difficult in the evening. We were warmly welcomed and escorted to the table, but from then on there wasn't much service. Too bad But always worth a visit for a super good pizza🥰

We were there with six people on New Year's Eve. Even though it was packed, the staff remained super friendly and very quick. The pizza was excellent, although a note that Italian spreadable salami is extremely hot would have been helpful. We felt very comfortable and would be happy to come back on our next holiday in Travemünde.

Here again today... very good table on the upper floor with a view of the Passat. Our waitress was quite new and really tried to please the guests, hats off to them. The food came very late... With a reservation at 3 p.m., we were there 10 minutes earlier, the food we ordered came at 3:45 p.m. for spaghetti Bolognese and a salad!!!! That worked better in Travemünde. When I heard that Travemünde was being turned into a chain town, I was skeptical. And that has been confirmed again and again! I like to give everyone 2 or 3 chances but the Italian on the promenade is not recommended. You are simply processed like you are on a running track, there is no comfort or good service, the service there is always completely overwhelmed and unfriendly! The entrance area is much too narrow and small, the new guests knock the pizza off your plate. If the kitchen makes mistakes, there is no replacement, according to the motto ""Eat or die"" "New guests come who then simply have to go outside and are simply forgotten or deliberately overlooked! It was not a good decision to have a chain restaurant there But as always, there is no thought when it comes to renovations, so in the end a lot is left behind. I've been there 3 times and I've seen pretty much the same thing. If you want to eat like in a fast food restaurant or a canteen, I don't recommend this place! and has no claims then probably already.

The store is basically a McDonald's that also offers pizza dishes. It was pretty crowded and loud. However, the reservation went smoothly and we were assigned a table on time. As far as the cleanliness of the tables is concerned, there is still room for improvement. When we placed our order, we politely asked for a quick wipe down of the table as there were still leftover drinks and pizza on it. The waitress seemed a bit annoyed when she came back with a clearly used cleaning cloth and wiped the table in annoyance. By the way, I don't have a word of apology. Although half a pizza has the same (original) diameter as a whole pizza, I didn't receive any backing paper, so my pizza lay on the lovingly wiped table. Unfortunately I had to complain on site. Food was okay, but took exactly 33 minutes. After the complaint, the service staff tried very hard. So for me it's once and never again. I don't want to be asked every 10 minutes if it tastes good. I also don't understand the instruction not to issue a sub-paper for half pizzas.

We wanted to make a reservation there locally and personally for dinner for the family. However, we were only offered a reservation for 1.5 hours, and with "a lot of goodwill and generosity even for 2 full hours." The operator, a very unfriendly and unpleasant person, said that this was the maximum possible and that if he stayed longer it would already be a loss for him. I know that this approach is now widespread in some restaurants, but in December in Travemünde this attitude seems very... with all due respect... cocky to me and I will certainly not support this business model. The restaurant is certainly suitable for just eating out, but not for family and social events.

Terrible! Totally overcrowded, people are breathing down your neck while you're eating and waiting for a table. Everything is much too narrow and just loud. Then you reserve a table and are placed in the middle of the entrance, at a table where two coffees can fit, but definitely no pizza or anything else. Absolutely terrible, not a restaurant to have a nice meal.

I actually really enjoy eating at a l'Osteria, but I was disappointed here. I had ordered Conchiglie Granchi di Fiume, what I got was pasta, a few roughly chopped vegetable strips and a few crabs. The sauce was delicious and the pasta was perfect, but no trace of crayfish. It's a shame, I was so looking forward to my favorite dish.......

The food was very tasty. And even though it was very busy, the staff was very quick and friendly. After a small complaint, the very friendly branch manager came to us. Highly recommended, even for vegetarians. Not only are there delicious pizzas that are very large and can even be shared, but also the best cappuccino in Travemünde.

The pizzas we ordered met our expectations. The spaghetti aglio e olio was satisfactory in taste, but the portion size was unreasonably small. The serving size gave rise to suspicion that it was a children's portion, which would probably have been inadequate even for a child.

We were there on December 23rd and had a great table at the top of the window with a view of the Priwall. Our waiter was super nice, hardworking and accommodating. I forgot my hat on the pitch and he brought it after us. L'osteria can be grateful for such great staff. The pizzas 🍕 were great again. Gladly again👏🏼

Food delicious. There is almost no chance of getting a table on the weekend without pre-ordering. Cleanliness under the tables works like this. When paying by card, you are asked to confirm your tip in a device beforehand.

Today, Monday, we reserved a table with a seating request. Unfortunately, this table was given away right in front of us. The young lady at reception dismissed us with a casual comment. We were about to leave. The waiter afterwards was very friendly and accommodating and got the first bad impression out of the way. As the saying goes, there are good and very good employees. Would have liked to give 5 stars🫣

To get a place, you almost have to become a supplicant. The service was intentionally friendly, but always stressful. No overview, long waits and a lot of macho behavior among the service men. Food okay. But I won't spend my money here again. The good location is no guarantee that things will go well in the long term. Never ever. Sometimes it can be a little more. Most certainly!

Although we didn't have a reservation and the restaurant was really full on Saturday evening, the two of us were able to sit at a table for four and my mother's walker was easily parked here. The young woman who served us was super friendly. The pasta and pizza tasted excellent. Thank you also for the panettone, which we received as an apology for the waiting time (which actually wasn't worth mentioning). The next time we come to Travemünde we will stop by your place again (and then, to be on the safe side, with a reservation)

Unfortunately, this has now been our third visit to L'osteria and it didn't meet our expectations. First of all, I have to say that the pizzas tasted good and were really sufficient. Accordingly, no deduction here. When taking a seat, reference was made to the birthday, and whether it would be possible to have a small dessert with candles at the end was unfortunately forgotten. When asked, this was quickly provided again, but there was already a feeling of optimism because it was intended as a surprise. Unfortunately, the glasses weren't just dirty at our table and were returned. When we brought it again, a glass broke on the table. As I said, the pizzas were good, but two of the 8 pizzas only arrived 20 minutes later because they were forgotten or taken incorrectly. There was no question asked during the meal or whether there were any other drink requests or something similar. Maybe they just want to keep the tables occupied for a short time. Unfortunately, the forgotten pizzas were neither taken into account in the invoice nor in the form of a small apology, such as a nightcap. The staff wasn't rude, but they generally seemed overwhelmed and didn't leave a good impression on us guests. Unfortunately, it was officially the last visit to the restaurant chain.

We had very nice service and the food was also very tasty. The pizzas are a considerable size at 45cm. I had the lasagne which looks very small next to the huge pizza. But it's a normal portion. We would love to come back again.

This was our third visit to a L'Osteria (Braunschweig, Hanover, Travemünde) and most likely our last. We've eaten (and enjoyed) many pizzas from Sicily to Oslo, but the pizzas from this restaurant chain fail to impress. The topping is OK, but the base is more reminiscent of crispbread. The “oversize” doesn’t help either. It is incomprehensible to us that this form of pizza preparation has become established here. Dear L`Osteria team, take a look around... Things are getting better, much better.

There is a separate paper menu for the little ones to color in (including crayons) and the food was rich and super tasty at moderate prices. The pizza can be topped with different toppings on one side. There is also a nice view of the harbor if you sit at the top

We were there in October with three people and a dog. We had a table right on the promenade with a view of the Trave. We liked it very much. The pizzas are so huge that they are over the top and you need a plan to eat them. If you have them, they are very tasty. The base is generously covered with very good cheese. Service friendly. Children of all ages were welcome and dogs were also welcome. We would come back.

Were there today because we know the good and friendly service from our city. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case here at all. The staff wasn't exactly friendly or accommodating. We felt extremely uncomfortable. Even the children noticed it. Never again for us! The food was good, but the interpersonal relationships had to be good too

Get seats for 8 people without a reservation. Very friendly and fast service. For the grandchildren there were coloring pages with an integrated children's menu. The food was freshly prepared, came quickly and was delicious. We are happy to recommend the location.

We had reserved a table at short notice during the week. When we arrived the restaurant was already very busy and we had to wait for our table, but that didn't bother us. Nevertheless, we were quickly offered something to drink, which we gratefully accepted. The service staff were absolutely great and remained friendly and polite at all times despite the stress. The food was, as always, very, very tasty. Only the place where we sat wasn't ideal. It was very drafty here as we were sitting in the winter garden. But it was great that we were allowed to take our dog with us.

We visited L'Osteria five times during our six-day stay in Travemünde. That speaks for itself. Even in the most stressful situations, the waiters remain calm, don't create a hectic atmosphere and are also very friendly. Rarely have we felt so comfortable, we always enjoyed our food and it was always quick. But what was particularly noticeable was the good service, which is something you rarely find anymore. Even when the restaurant was full, we received a friendly welcome, even without a reservation.

The pasta dishes were very tasteless, we had to get Parmesan ourselves and unfortunately we didn't get enough.

The restaurant is really nicely located and the waitresses are very polite and accommodating. Always my pleasure

Very friendly and fast service. Pizza is very large and of good quality, price/performance is right. View from the terrace directly onto the Trave. It's great to watch the ships passing by while you eat. The terrace is also easy to use in the cooler season; the heaters radiate a lot of heat.

Some of the staff were very unfriendly

Had a pizza on the go as it was full and we were a big gang. Had their Salami Cheese Pizza with their homemade Bruschetta and it was delicious. Where we live here in Germany we have also an L’Osteria Restaurant and it’s always a treat to eat there. So when we saw that there was one here in Travemünde we went there with open hearts. Unfortunately all of the seats were taken plus a lot of reservations and cause we needed a bigger table we decided (on their recommendation) to take a pizza on the go plus their Bruschetta. The best! Forgot to take some pictures of the dishes…..
