Quiet green oasis in Frankfurt. Very tasty food. You can always get a seat outside... inside you should reserve well in advance. Prices are ok too.

Very tasty food, great service & above all great ambience, the view & surroundings are beautiful!

Saturday evening. A reserved table for seven people. The dining room is packed full. Every chair space is utilized. When we arrive, the tables are rearranged again and more chairs are brought in from outside. My chair is at the back of a pillar. Luckily I don't need a lot of space, but I still hang on the edge of the table. It's unbearably loud. Normal conversation at the table is impossible for the entire evening. Even the hard-working staff loses track of things. In the kitchen, speed takes precedence over quality. Our food order goes missing. Only when we notice that the guests who arrived late are eating do we complain and receive the food we ordered within a few minutes. The kitchen can do that. Food at beer tent level. With the masses that are swept out of the kitchen within a short period of time, you can't expect anything else. You have to look elsewhere for nicely prepared food. One of our group complained about the food being barely touched. This does not appear on the invoice either. Anyway. I had to apologize to my group from Berlin to the Hintertaunus for choosing the Lorberg for our meeting. Never ever, eating out like this is no fun, just trouble

Anyone who still loves and is looking for Hessian cuisine will definitely find it here. The lady from the service, respect drinks and food without notes for 12 people just recorded in her head and delivered 100%. Delicious beer and Äppler.

The garden was very busy, unfortunately only one waitress was responsible for the many occupied tables. The waiter was, understandably, totally overwhelmed. We left after a long wait without being served. We thought it was a shame, but the Lohrbergschänke also lacks service staff, like everywhere else.

An institution. The location with a view of the city is excellent. The service was quick and very friendly. The food was tasty with decently sized portions. Parking possible about 5 minutes walk away. Unfortunately, the dining room is very cramped and loud. Therefore, an unreserved tip for the summer. In winter there are quieter places. Reservation required.

Beautiful beer garden on the Lohrberg surrounded by meadows, grape vines and apple trees. Delicious dishes and great cider. Unfortunately the service is subpar. The waitresses are all friendly, but on nice days they are hopelessly understaffed. There were also difficulties with the kitchen, so that dishes came out wrong or incomplete. If this problem is corrected, I would happily recommend it.

The Lohrberg-Schänke is much more than just a classic excursion restaurant! The menu offers well-known classics such as schnitzel, which are refined with regional and seasonal ingredients. Particularly noteworthy is the schnitzel with cream sauce and porcini mushrooms – a real treat! The side salad served with it impresses with a wonderfully balanced dressing. The dessert menu is clear, but what we tried was delicious. We will definitely come back more often, especially since the tavern is open both in summer and winter and offers a large terrace. A visit is definitely worth it – highly recommended!

Good service, excellent food, a particularly nice view of Frankfurt

Beautifully located on Frankfurt's local mountain. However, the service was impossible. The sunny part of the beer garden is closed. I was also not allowed to drink a drink that I had bought in the restaurant. I was offered to drink my wheat on a park bench. Guys, are you still okay??

Update: We visited the Lohrbergschänke again on October 11th, 2024. The food was again very good and (almost) everything was good. Unfortunately, we didn't check the bill immediately when paying because we were charged one drink too much. The waiter probably assigned it to the wrong table in the rush (it can happen). Still, we felt a bit ripped off. We therefore advise everyone to only pay after checking the invoice carefully. We also find it a shame and unprofessional that our email was not replied to. Apparently they don't think this is necessary, which really annoyed us. That's why I have to deduct two stars from my rating. On the occasion of a trip to Frankfurt's local mountain, we finally stopped at the Lohrbergschänke. There is a large beer garden area - but we sat inside because of the wasps, among other things. All wooden tables and chairs with lots of decorations on the wall, that's how you imagine the typical interior of a Frankfurt pub/restaurant. The daily menu includes many Hessian and Frankfurt specialties. We really enjoyed the food, which we didn't have to wait long for. I barely finished my schnitzel because the size of the side salad could almost pass for a salad plate (see photos). Good value for money given the decent portions and for Frankfurt standards. The service, which you are called by, was friendly and attentive. Conclusion: We can recommend the Lohrbergschänke in every respect, not just because of the great location.

We have often come here. Unfortunately, last time it was a bit bizarre. The cards were placed on the table without much greeting. The ordered dishes were on the table within two minutes and even before the side salad. The French fries that came with one plate were cold and the obvious rest of the dish. However, upon request, these were replaced - although not in the form of the plate being rearranged by the kitchen, but rather the cold french fries remained on the plate and a bowl of hot french fries was placed on the table. The quality of the food served was otherwise above average. We visited the restaurant on a Saturday evening with a reservation. It was apparently fully booked. Nevertheless, I expect a little more professionalism even in such a situation.

Once again the green sauce and the schnitzel were very tasty. Great nice service.

Despite the restaurant being full, the service was quick and very friendly. It was difficult to get someone on the phone during the day to reserve a table.

Miserable service, as a guest you are randomly transferred, of course to a much worse table. Immediately afterwards, the original table was also given to 2 people, although the argument for moving it was that it would be needed for several people. When asked about this, an unbelievable apology was made. Never again!!!!

Location is very nice. When the weather is nice like today, the waitresses are overwhelmed and unfriendly. Food mediocre to bad. Ambience top, rest 1-2 stars.

Very popular restaurant on the Lohrberg with a fantastic view of the skyline of Ffm and the surrounding area. Beautiful outdoor area in summer and otherwise romantic, rustic atmosphere. Unfortunately, the poor coordination between kitchen and service totally spoils the impression. Our waiter was attentive and friendly. But even he said the waitress is subject to the whims of the kitchen?? Bratwursts were delivered backwards and we were lucky with the rum steaks medium and well done. Apparently even the bosses don't make any effort to improve things? We booked 4 weeks in advance and asked for a nice table by the window. This request was not granted either. The bill of 237 euros for 6 people is ok but there are other nice restaurants where you are treated better.

Actually a 5 star restaurant. But that evening they were a bit overwhelmed by an event. Our waiter tried his best, but unfortunately the kitchen forgot two meals and they only came promptly when we asked. We haven't known that before. Let's see whether it was just a blip or whether it was due to the general staff shortage and the desire to work from home in the service sector. 😇

Nice, rustic restaurant. If you get a good spot, you have a great view of the Frankfurt skyline. Vegetarians also have a small selection of dishes here. The service was friendly and you don't have to wait long. A nice destination in summer.

What I have to note first and foremost: dogs are welcome (also inside). This is a huge plus point for dog owners. The atmosphere is rustic. The order went quickly. The food came quickly too. Nothing wrong with the taste! Small negative point: a drink that was ordered was forgotten and was only brought when asked again. And a meal that was ordered was only brought when asked again.

People no longer seem to be dependent on guests here. After we chose a table, it took almost 10 minutes until we were even served. It felt like we were being a nuisance and we felt uncomfortable ordering our drinks and food. The food came to the table at different times; my wife had already eaten half of it and then my dish came. My wife wanted to eat a piece of cheesecake for dessert, which unfortunately didn't come. However, this was on the invoice, which I complained about when paying. Fortunately, there are countless alternatives in Frankfurt.

We cycled on the green belt and only stopped here because we lacked fluids. The service was super friendly and the selection of drinks was plentiful. Our group of 14 people was thrilled and said we should definitely plan the Lohrberg-Schänke as a stop. Full recommendation!

Waiter with short black hair with blonde highlights and tanned. Is very unfriendly. Snapped at me because I said I didn't order the cake. He then says there is only that. I ordered a cappuccino, which never came. Food was so-so, the breading fell off. I'm really disappointed with the store and I won't recommend it to others.

Was invited by my German friend to try local cuisine. And it was so tasty and fresh! Try local cider!

The food is good! Unfortunately a meal was forgotten! We asked about 20 minutes after the other 2 meals arrived. It was also said that questions would be asked, but no information was at least given. If we went there again we probably wouldn't do it on the weekend even though the weather wasn't good.

Wir kommen seit über 15 Jahren teilweise 3-4 mal pro Woche auf den Lohrberg. Wir lieben den Lohrberg. Das Essen ist super die Bedienung sehr nett die Location super einfach ein Traum. Normalerweise fünf Sterne plus. Allerdings heute bei einer Veranstaltung Beats und Bembel war der Abend eine Enttäuschung aller erster Güte. Extrem unfreundlicher Service durch den Servicemitarbeiter Michael, der sich von uns sehr belästigt fühlte, dokumentiert dadurch, dass er die Bestellung nur im Vorbeigehen aufnahm und somit nur die Hälfte ankam. Während des gesamten Abends vermittelte er den Eindruck, dass er sich durch die Gäste hauptsächlich belästigt fühlte. Diese sehr schlechte Bewertung, die ich heute abgebe, spiegelt nicht die Bewertung der letzten vielen vielen Jahre wieder. Diese müsste mindestens fünf Sterne plus plus betragen, heute allerdings war es aufgrund des Mitarbeiters Michael. Wenn ich ein Gast gewesen wäre, der zum ersten Mal auf dem Lohrberg zu Gast war, würde ich nie wiederkommen. Es ist schade, dass minder motivierte Mitarbeiter den Eindruck eines übertragenden Lokales der Art zerstören können . Nichts, desto trotz ist der Lohrberg eines der besten Lokale in Frankfurt, welche sich immer wieder gerne besuchen werde. Sollte ich allerdings Den Servicemitarbeiter Michael an meinem Tisch haben, werde ich das Lokal fluchtartig verlassen. Ich wünsche allen Lesern einen tollen Aufenthalt in einem überragenden Lokal

Friends celebrated a silver wedding anniversary outside with around 40 people. The service was very attentive. A 3 course menu was offered with several main courses to choose from. The food was very good. The ambience with a view towards Frankfurt is unbeatable.

Bisher war ich in der Lohrberg-Schänke immer sehr zufrieden mit dem Essen. Aber gestern war ich doch äußerst erstaunt über eine Preisgestaltung. Das alles teurer geworden ist, weiß ja nun jeder, aber für 2 (in Worten zwei!) Maultaschen mit kleinem Beilagensalat 18,50 Euro zu verlangen, grenzt schon an Unverschämtheit. Sogar das Servicepersonal, dem gegenüber ich beim Zahlen meinen Unmut geäußert habe, war das Verhältnis Preis/Leistung ziemlich unangenehm.

Top Frankfurt cuisine with a view

The location is great. Above the roofs of Frankfurt a wonderful view over the heart of Europe. Especially when the city lights shine in the evening. The food was very tasty and the portions were more than large enough. The price was reasonable considering the location. The staff is quick and very attentive, although both beer gardens were very well occupied. The only downside was the coordination of the menu. We ordered, among other things, hand cheese as a starter, which was only served when the main course was already on the table. That was a bit suboptimal, but didn't really spoil the overall picture.

Restaurant in the middle of nature despite being on the edge of Frankfurt.

It was very tasty, we had to lure the waitress over to us, but then the order arrived quickly. The salads were delicious and varied, the hand cheese was a dream and the schnitzels were also delicious. Unfortunately one point wasn't so good; when we found out that we should move after dinner because they were expecting a large company. This was probably overbooked in terms of planning. We also had a reservation, which is recommended. The parking situation and the approach are catastrophic because the access road is blocked and it is difficult to find a parking space at the top. But there is a bus going up.

Unfortunately not so good this time. Schnitzel very dry, fries also fried for too long. Two meals were first forgotten. They probably had staff shortages, I understand all that, but as a guest it doesn't really matter to me since I pay the same price as usual and can therefore always expect the same quality. It would be a shame if things let up there.

A very nice place, the view down to Frankfurt is very nice, the waitress with us was Michael, he was absolutely enchanting, super funny and yet polite and yet very, very friendly. The hand cheese was also very tasty, Pomegranate Spitz👍top and I I already know that I will be here more often ❤️👍 Price, performance, top staff, great, thank you Michael for your great service ❤️

Despite the nice weather and good utilization of the terrace/garden area, the waiter in charge was calm, friendly and accommodating. And this even though we hadn't made a reservation. Everyone found the food very tasty, I had a delicious green sauce. Even changing a dish to a vegan version was no problem despite the operation. Prices are right. Overall, highly recommended.

Die Lage ist super. Über den Dächern von Frankfurt einen wunderbaren Blick über das Herz von Europa. Vor allem, wenn abends die Lichter der Stadt leuchten. Das Essen war sehr lecker und die Portionen mehr als ausreichend groß. Der Preis war, wenn man die Lage bedenkt, angemessen. Das Personal ist flott und sehr aufmerksam, obwohl beide Biergärten sehr gut besetzt waren. Einziger Wehrmutstropfen war die Koordination der Speisenfolge. Wir hatten u.a. Handkäs als Vorspeise bestellt, der allerdings erst serviert wurde, als der Hauptgang bereits auf dem Tisch stand. Das war etwas suboptimal, hat aber das Gesamtbild nicht wirklich getrübt.

Very nice beer garden with excellent views of Frankfurt and the skyline. I've been there a few times to drink beer, but I've never eaten here. Unfortunately I have to deduct a star because the service is often listless and sometimes unfriendly. You still like to come for the beautiful view with a cold beer with friends.

We've been to the Lohrbergschänke several times as a bike tour destination and have always been satisfied. The food was good, but the prices went way up. However, the service was subpar. There was a listless lady standing at the entrance, the waiter was totally rude and made a fool of us. Apparently there is no longer any need to be friendly there, people still come because of the location. We're not coming anymore!!! In the future we will pack a cooler bag and have a picnic on the meadow.

For vegetarians there are 2 dishes (1 starter, 1 main course). Generally large and filling portions. Lots of space, few parking spaces.

5 stars in all categories. I hardly need to say more. The owner-run restaurant exudes a very special charm. You can feel that everyone working here are old-school restaurateurs.

We spontaneously decided to have dinner here and were not disappointed. Very tasty, Hessian-style home cooking. The service was very quick and courteous. When a thunderstorm came, the awnings were extended and we were able to continue eating in the dry, despite sitting outside. We can only recommend this bar!
