Excellent cuisine – traditional dishes and vegetarian options too – highly recommended.

Very disappointing experience. We were told this restaurant had a kids chicken schnitzel available for dine-in only, which is why we chose to eat here. Once we asked if we could take away, we were suddenly told they don’t do a kids schnitzel and that we would have to order the adult portion instead for a 4 year old Child. I was told they didn’t care, and that was their rules after I spoke to them and was told it was possible. Then he argued and asked me if he was liar. So unprofessional. This was not communicated upfront and felt misleading. Forcing a child to order an adult meal (at adult prices) after specifically advertising or stating that a kids option was available is not acceptable. If the kids menu is limited or unavailable, that should be made very clear before customers drive 30 minutes to get there. Poor communication and an inflexible attitude ruined what should have been a simple family meal. We won’t be returning and neither should you.

The Lindwurmstüberl is a classic, traditional Bavarian inn, just as you'd want it to be. The Ratsherrenteller (Councillor's Plate) with pork tenderloin medallions on creamed mushrooms, colorful vegetables, and hash browns was absolutely delicious and perfectly prepared. The service was very friendly, welcoming, and quick; you immediately feel at home. The atmosphere is rustic and authentic—exactly what you'd expect from a Bavarian inn. A definite recommendation for anyone who enjoys Bavarian food and values ​​quality and tradition.

We were thrilled with the chicken last year (crispy and juicy!), so we decided to go back to the restaurant this year and we weren't disappointed. Highly recommended, we'll definitely eat there again when we're in Munich.

The restaurant generally offers good food. However, the service was mostly rather unmotivated, with the exception of one waiter. When the three of us arrived around 5:15 p.m., we had our pick of tables. We found the way we were rushed to choose a table impolite, especially since the restaurant wasn't busy at that time and there was no need for a hurried "Hurry up!" My companions and I simply exchanged puzzled glances and left the situation uncommented. After ordering drinks, we had to wait quite a while before we could order food. When I got out to order, the older waiter waved us off with a curt "Hi! Bye!" without taking our intentions seriously and walked away. A younger waiter then came to us and served us in English, as his colleague had informed him that we only spoke English. This was disconcerting, since we had already greeted each other in German and asked for a table upon entering the restaurant. But all right. Regarding the food: It was mostly delicious. One small point concerns the vegetables served with my roast beef, which unfortunately didn't taste quite fresh and had a slightly acidic note, as if they had been sitting for a while. Aside from that, the food, both mine and my companion's, was very satisfactory. The price was reasonable for Munich standards, as expected. We would especially like to commend Mr. Toni, as his attentive and friendly manner positively influenced the atmosphere, and he regularly checked on our well-being. His contribution is decisive in the restaurant receiving three stars for service, as we would otherwise have awarded no stars due to the initial situation and lack of professionalism. Overall, we give it 3 out of 5 stars.

A typical Bavarian restaurant, no reservations required, with friendly and welcoming staff. Very good food, including beer. We went for dinner as soon as we landed in Munich at 8:30 PM. Average prices. Recommended for anyone wanting to try traditional cuisine in a very beautiful and comfortable setting.

We were very satisfied once again. The food and service were excellent and attentive. I've known this restaurant since my apprenticeship over 35 years ago. The ambiance has changed, but it's still cozy. The food is simply fantastic, and the service is very courteous.

Sure, it's busy here, but waiting 100 minutes for food is far too long. A heads-up upon arrival would have been nice. When we asked, the only answer we got was "it'll be a while," which was hardly helpful. As a result, part of our table had to leave and cancel their order. One person had already finished their meal, which was incredibly tough, having sat under the salamander grill for at least an hour before the others were served. For a restaurant like this, the service was abysmal. The owner should really expect a lot of customers.

Excellent restaurant. I'm from Santiago, Chile 🇨🇱 and I was there in October with my son and father. The spaetzle was the best in Munich, the pork was juicy, and the beer was delicious. The staff was very attentive and friendly. If I ever return to Munich, I will definitely go back there to eat their delicious dishes. Congratulations and best wishes to such lovely people!

I was there for lunch today. Incompetent staff! Unfriendly! Rude! When you mention something to them, they couldn't care less. Even though several people were assigned to us, they just smirked nastyly and disappeared. Apparently, people are treated differently depending on their nationality. Never again! A disaster! There are definitely much better restaurants in Munich.

It was a bit noisy, but it was Saturday night, lots of young people drinking. I searched for where to eat typical Bavarian food and luckily I found this place, very good, I recommend it and I will return for lunch tomorrow! It had been a long time since I ate something so simple and so well made, the chicken was well seasoned and cooked to perfection, the fries are so good that I would like to learn how to make them so crispy!!

Classic Bavarian spot near Goetheplatz pouring Augustiner and serving hearty, “gut bürgerlich” fare in a cozy setting.  Service was great, friendly and efficient from start to finish. The food is solid German comfort cooking: really good quality and generous portions, though nothing wildly inventive. We ordered two Jägerschnitzel; the mushroom sauce was tasty, but we were disappointed the schnitzel wasn’t breaded as you’d typically expect. The Hirschedelgulasch (deer goulash) was excellent, hearty, full of flavor, and exactly what you want on a cold Munich evening. Both plates came with Spätzle, which I highly recommend keeping rather than swapping for French fries or Bratkartoffeln; the Spätzle soaked up the sauces beautifully. Overall, a reliable neighborhood choice for classic Bavarian dishes, cold beer, and warm hospitality. I’d happily return.

Overall, everything was very good! The food, the service, everything was quick and super friendly! Unfortunately, they didn't accept Amex, which I can't understand for a restaurant so close to the city center and right near the Oktoberfest grounds.

Bavarian tavern in the heart of Munich, close to Goetheplatz and the Oktoberfest. Variety of traditional Bavarian dishes in a multi-generational tavern atmosphere. Good food with flavor and "reasonable" prices considering the location. Expect to pay €22 for a pint of beer and a homemade meat dish. There are options for vegetarians and fish lovers, as well as a children's menu. A little difficult to find parking, but that's Munich.

First of all: I preferred eating my food to photographing it. And it still looks exactly like other reviewers' photos. 😉 We had half a chicken and a Bavarian steamed dumpling. Both were delicious. The lunch menu is great, with daily changing dishes at a reasonable price. Also worth mentioning is the rooftop terrace, which is partially covered. I enjoyed my visit to the Lindwurmstüberl and will definitely come back if I get the chance.

Hours were not correct. Walked all the way to the restaurant and was closed even though the website and door stated open from 11 to 23 hours.

The dishes were excellent! All the chicken dishes were especially tasty, and the meat dishes were also very well prepared. For dessert, the chocolate cake and apple roll were delicious—I found the syrup bread a bit dry and didn't quite understand the idea. The coffee, on the other hand, was a bit underwhelming. The service, however, was excellent! As soon as we arrived, the entire group was greeted with warmth and smiles. The waiter, Marlon, was extremely attentive, kind, and polite—always checking to see if we needed anything, offering help with selections, and ensuring we always had drinks. When at Oktoberfest, the food is always good here.

I had actually reserved a table for two for September 27th, which was confirmed. When I arrived that day, the entrance seemed to be surrounded – we were able to get in, but no table had been reserved for people who might have already made reservations. While the waiters were accommodating and tried to help, it's a shame that you then have to wait in the room until other guests are chased away. It got too much for us, and we unfortunately had to get a bratwurst sandwich at the Oktoberfest instead. I would like to try eating at the establishment again, but I would recommend keeping reserved tables free and not trying to fill the place up as much as possible (for the sake of the Oktoberfest and its guests).

We came here before our Oktoberfest visit and had the lunch menu: potato soup + 1/4 chicken and fries. All for €11.60! The taste was excellent. The meat was super tender and plentiful. Now you're feeling refreshed.

Traditional and friendly, warm, good food at fair prices. The roast chicken and potato salad were excellent. The red cabbage with the knuckle was initially forgotten and was basically bland. The knuckles were crispy and almost dry one day, juicy and soft the next. All in all, though, very good and quick.

The restaurant is located on a busy street, but you hardly notice it inside. Unfortunately, the service was a bit chaotic on the day I visited, probably due to internal disagreements within the team. The food itself was excellent and the value for money was good.

We'd been wanting to try the supposedly "best chicken in town" for a long time, and last night we finally did. It was disappointing! Nothing like a Oktoberfest chicken; poorly seasoned and undercooked. The potato salad was too salty, soaked with far too much vinegar, and practically inedible! It definitely wasn't worth €17.50 and a waste of money. The restaurant is very loud, making normal conversation almost impossible. The service couldn't be described as particularly friendly either. My 3-year-old nephew could have done better with the roast pork from the lunch menu. The service was friendly and attentive, but unfortunately, the management has become somewhat out of step with the times, arrogant and oblivious to the business. The menu is always the same, and the chicken is either raw or fried to death. I'll NEVER be back.

We've been guests at the Lindwurmstüberl several times. Especially when the weather's nice, it's fantastic on the spacious roof terrace in a superb central location. Delicious (Augustiner) beer and good food, at a reasonable price for Munich. The service is exceptionally friendly and personable. We're deducting one star because unfortunately, you can't order side dishes individually, so you can't order something like dumplings with sauce or a portion of fries for a light snack, which can be a bit annoying at times. Otherwise, a great place, I always enjoy coming here.

Many well-prepared specialties (the schnitzels, for example, are well-cooked, remain soft, and are plentiful), and the apple struddle is appetizing; we ask for more. It's a shame that the menu is only in German. Fortunately, most of the waiters and waitresses are friendly and speak English.
