Very good, authentic restaurant

Classic Bavarian cuisine, nothing groundbreaking, but quite good. The seating is comfortable both inside the traditional pub-style dining room and outside, although you can hear the street noise there. The service is friendly. Easily accessible by subway.

A traditional Munich restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere

A cozy Bavarian restaurant with very friendly staff. We often go there with our strollers and they always find us a spot. The food is delicious and the menu changes throughout the week and on weekends. My favorite dessert is the Apfelküchle!

We went there for the all-you-can-eat Sunday. The selection is good, however, some of the schnitzels were a bit tough and not very juicy. I can recommend the Jägerschnitzel (hunter's schnitzel), but not the Cordon Bleu.

A cozy restaurant, unfortunately with a huge decline in both food and service. We've been there several times before, and it was always just about acceptable. But today was a complete disaster. The food was lukewarm to cold (except for the side salad, which came in a warm bowl), the drinks we ordered never arrived, the waiter was nowhere to be seen, and empty plates sat on the table for ages. The steamed dumpling was absolutely awful (with "delicious" chives in the vanilla sauce). As disappointing as it is, this was our last time there.

I ordered a Kalbschnitzel with fries instead of fried potatoes. It was tasty, but the impression was a bit ruined due to very slow service and a hair in the sauce. The atmosphere is typical Bavarian atmosphere. I also got charged extra for adjusting the fries in my order ( which I find a bit ridiculous).

One of those gems you don't find often these days. Super authentic Bavarian hospitality with fair prices. And the food is delicious, too.

It was 11:05 when I arrived and the door was still closed despite the opening hours. Too bad, I would have liked to try the beer.

We had our class reunion here; it's a cozy little inn with friendly staff. The food is highly recommended. We'll organize our next reunion at the "Dicke Mann" again.

A typical Bavarian inn with a slightly different menu; the food was really delicious. The ambiance is quite simple, and the noise level is almost unbearable. Conversations are nearly impossible, partly due to the very cramped seating. Less would definitely be more here. Despite the good food, I don't need to go back.

I met up with friends here for the third time today. The other times the food was very good, but unfortunately, today the goulash was way too salty. I simply pointed this out to the server. Next time, I'll send it back. We meet here regularly now. The inconsistent quality of the dishes is strange. Sometimes they're delicious, other times they taste like nothing.

So... we were regulars here until today. Even though I called ahead and reserved a table for two, we were supposed to sit with someone else (who obviously wasn't happy about it either) without any warning or anything. We decided to leave since it wasn't possible to get a table for two. However, the waitress/waiter seemed to find the whole thing hilarious, because they started laughing... Have you ever heard of professionalism or privacy?

It was a nice evening; the portions were really generous and quite hearty – good Bavarian fare. Unfortunately, it was very crowded and therefore very noisy.

A phenomenal armosphere. The restaurant is a bit noisier, but that gives it its charm. The waiter is excellent, always there but not intrusive at all. We ate excellent butkica in sauce...for every recommendation.

A lovely little brewery. The service was very friendly but a bit forgetful. We forgot two orders. The venison goulash looked great, but I felt the sauce lacked a bit of zest and the dumplings were bland. However, the dessert was amazing, very tasty.

The baked potato for €17 wasn't good. The venison goulash for €23 was cold. The price/performance ratio wasn't right. Ayinger Helles beer was €4.90. And I didn't get a side salad. Overall, I wouldn't recommend it. They're clearly working on the prices.

First of all: the food is good and the service was friendly and quick. The rest is disappointing. The restaurant pretends to be "Bavarian," but there's little to it. I find it odd that everything on the menu is written in a strange Bavarian dialect. It seems totally artificial. The prices are too high for the location. It's a standard menu with no special features, and the vegetarian options are very limited (Kasspatzen and Rahmschwmmerl, that's it). The alternative option for vegetarians to order side dishes is immediately blocked. According to the menu, the side dishes (which aren't even cheap; even at the Oktoberfest, an extra dumpling is cheaper) can only be ordered with a main course. And then the punch line: We played Schafkopf (a game of German chess), but after a while we were told that this was forbidden. In Ramersdorf, during the week! You'd only find something like that in the old town, in tourist shops, where every table is supposed to be booked several times per evening. Best regards to the owner, but acting so "Bavarian" and then banning Schafkopf (a game of sheep's head) is simply unacceptable. Especially since we ate and drank normally! The whole place just seems like a profit-maximizing operation with no hospitality at all. I'm disappointed; we certainly won't be coming back.

Mass production instead of quality. It's an absolute disgrace to serve a pork schnitzel that was overcooked and not even cooked properly. They should really reconsider their giant schnitzel! It was almost impossible to cut on the plate, as the fries weren't even served separately and were overcooked. I got terrible stomach pains afterward… And yes, there was a small apology from the house and thanks to the friendly server; but she can't be held responsible for the poor quality. Too bad ☹️; the tip was fine with her 👌🏽 But you can't just force people to sit crammed together at a table (that isn't designed for that) It makes you feel uncomfortable.

Beautiful brewery with a very typical and pleasant atmosphere. The food is certainly not wow, but it's definitely good and the value for money is reasonable for Munich. You can smell the kitchen after your visit, which might not be to everyone's liking :)

I ordered a fried chicken at your restaurant yesterday. As a native Styrian, I can judge how such a dish is served. I got half a whole chicken. It was thrown into the deep fryer. I've never experienced anything like it. Individual pieces, without skin, breaded and baked, as it should be. The chef still has a lot to learn. The owner, who is also supposed to be Austrian, has no clue either. There were nine of us, and every meal was poorly prepared. The cheese dumpling soup, 0 points!!! We won't be visiting your restaurant again; the food was too bad. Elfi

Really nice Bavarian place, with real bavarian food. Menu is in bayrisch and German only, but the service speaks English. If you happen to live in the area or are on the U5 line, I can recommend a visit. And on Sundays there is all-you-can-eat schnitzel

We went on a Sunday for the all you can eat. There are 4 options to chose from, you cannot change the side. I have tasted all of the and the hunter schnitzel was my favorite. It doesn't have a crust, it's more like barbecue but very tasty nevertheless. The interior looks Bavarian and the atmosphere is nice. Highly recommend!

Our after-work beer at the Dicker Mann has been our weekend ritual for decades. We always receive very friendly service, even though we only drink our beer and don't eat. But that has absolutely nothing to do with the quality or the prices. Markus and Sara are excellent, customer-oriented, and experienced managers. The staff is carefully selected. Today we would like to take this opportunity to highlight dear Marion as a top-notch waitress. Thank you for always making us welcome.

1st experience was great ! Apple juice was expensive, I don't drink alcohol 🤷.... But my colleagues loved the beer and was cheaper than my juice. Food was also great. I had the Käsespätzle (German Mac&Cheese for dummies), my colleagues had all kinds of meat dishes like Schweinebraten, Schitzel mit Pommes. The weather was bad so had to fit in those cozy tables. And they spoke english too !!! Give the place a visit.

The Fat Man is a nice, quaint restaurant in Munich. The food is good, and the service is fast and friendly. We had roast pork with cabbage and potato dumplings. The prices for the food are reasonable (€14.90), but we found the drink prices a bit high (a 0.5-liter Spezi for €4.80). But that's probably pretty average for Munich. We went to the Fat Man again today and had an excellent meal. The roast beef with onions was fantastic, and we ate two portions of the apple fritters with ice cream for dessert. Everything was excellent, and the service was very friendly and attentive. That's exactly what you'd expect.

Unfortunately, there aren't enough staff anymore, so half of the beer garden is unusable. Unfortunately, the food has deteriorated over the years.

On Sunday, we had schnitzel all you can eat. It's a bit of a shame the cordon bleu was already sold out. But otherwise, it was worth a visit.

The food is good. The schnitzels could be better breaded (there's not enough liability). The service is exceptionally friendly. The location is attractive. The beer garden is small but nice. There's a small parking lot behind the restaurant for about five vehicles.

Local review. Food: Cooking ok, ordered 2 Schnitzel and a salad at the same time. So few fries for 19 euros(per Schnitzel...), could be counted on 10 fingers. Salad came 4-5 min after the Schnitzels. Service: Waitress tells us to sit at a table and then just... Does not come. Waited 20 min before we gave up and went to ask for ordering. Checkout was laughable, ok you need to go yourself inside to check out with card, asked waiter, the guy just goes away. At this point could have just walked out of the place (sic). Barman tried to help but he can't do the checkout (ok, fair from him). Atmosphere: Is good, though smokers and non smokers are mixed together. Overall: A bit of a pity, they did not ask for feedback, therefore this review. Bier is great, Ayinger, the best. Feels like they did not need us as customers. Went on Sunday evening.

We arrived early in the evening, and even though everything was fully booked for the evening, they tried their best to get us a table. The service was very friendly, and the food was plentiful and delicious, with really reasonable prices. We will definitely be back. I lost my key while leaving the on-site parking lot. But the owner found it and even sent it home to me because I live in Regensburg and couldn't drive back to Munich right away. That was really very kind and definitely deserves an extra thank you. That's something you can't take for granted. In short: customer service is truly alive here. Bravo 🤩

We met a friend for their schnitzel buffet. Essentially, you order one and if you eat it you can get another. Had the traditional version with potatoe salad and it was great. Then got the Mexican version. Interesting but good. This one is not breaded.

I was visiting Munich, and my colleagues dragged me here. What can I say? The service was super cheerful and funny. The food was perfect, and the beer garden was beautifully shaded. The restaurant got full marks from me. I'll be back sometime.

Unfortunately, things have declined considerably – disappointing! We used to be regulars at this restaurant – even before the change of management – ​​and always had good experiences. Unfortunately, things have deteriorated significantly since then. We were there on a Sunday for the schnitzel special. The offer initially sounds good: For €18.90, you can try four different schnitzels. The price has increased by €4.50, which is basically understandable – but the real problem lies elsewhere. Instead of a fair portion of meat, you now get a ratio that feels like 1/5 schnitzel to 4/5 side dish. And to even try another schnitzel, you have to eat everything – including the excessively large amount of side dish. This way, you get full quickly without really being able to try different schnitzels. Unfortunately, this seems more like a trick to reduce the amount of meat served. It's a real shame – we liked the restaurant for a long time, but with this concept, which in my opinion is no longer customer-oriented, it's no longer fun, and we won't be visiting or recommending it! As proof, I'm attaching a photo of the receipt - unfortunately, we weren't issued a proper invoice!

Well, what can I say after today's visit to the restaurant? Bring enough time if the weather is nice and you want the all-you-can-eat schnitzel. The first schnitzel arrived after an okay wait, the second took another 25 minutes, and I canceled the third schnitzel (my last one) after a 40-minute wait because I was fed up. The restaurant was barely busy inside, the beer garden was about 60% full, although I'm sure not everyone had ordered schnitzel. My conclusion: it's not possible to eat all-you-can-eat here; unfortunately, you won't be seeing me again. The quality of the schnitzel and cordon bleu I ate was rather mediocre; what can I expect given the quantity, but it was okay. I think the children's schnitzel with fries is a bit too expensive at €10 for an all-you-can-eat schnitzel restaurant. The potato salad with the cordon bleu, I'm sure I'm mistaken, but it comes from a 50L bucket; I would have been very happy with a fresh one. The waitress was very attentive and even got a tip, but only 5% instead of 10%. A scoop of 1 was on the house, it should also be mentioned. But sorry, guys, for that money, you really have to get it together to get people their food. As proof that I was there and not complaining for no reason, receipt number 110509 from June 15, 2025, 2:31 PM, with the total amount of €89.90, including €95.

It's very rustic, which I like. The service was very friendly, but a bit slow at times. The food was okay, but the pork medallions were unfortunately tough, and I had to add a lot of salt. Even my companion, who eats less salt, added more salt. Given the price, I would have expected better.

A quaint Munich restaurant with Ayinger Bräu beer specialties. Located right next to the Michaelis Bad subway exit. The Bavarian menu caters to every appetite. The service was very friendly and attentive. We enjoyed the reasonably priced daily specials. The Fat Man offers a selection of vegetarian dishes.

Whenever we were in Munich for work, the Fat Man was a must. So, for the past few years, it's been 4-5 times a year. Last week, we were a bit disappointed. The food wasn't that great (we remembered it being better), and it was really bad when we had to pay a €1 surcharge for changes. And the €5 surcharge for two fried eggs was a bit steep, too.
