Well, as a know nothing about French cuisine person, I had a blast at Les Deux. The knowledgeable Maître d was able to recommend a 2013 Taittinger over the similar vintages Dom Perignon. It did not disappoint. I randomly pointed at the menu and ate what was served. I think everything tastes better with champagne, no?

On day 1 of my five-day stay in Munich, I went to Les Deux, located in the old town, which houses both a brasserie and a Michelin-starred gourmet restaurant under one roof. In the latter, located on the first floor of a modern wedge-shaped courtyard building, I have reserved a table at which I sit down with excitement and anticipation, because Les Deux has an excellent reputation. Not only because, for example, Edip Sigl, Germany's youngest newcomer to the 3-star league, even won a second Michelin star for the house in 2020, but above all because patron Fabrice Kieffer, one of the best hosts in the Bavarian capital, is concerned about the well-being of the guests takes care of guests. Four of us ate in the brasserie on a Monday evening. The food was really very good. However, we waited a whopping two hours for our main course from the time we arrived. Unfortunately, the attempt to compensate for this with a free round of drinks and a sorbet was only half successful, as this only happened after we had subtly expressed our dissatisfaction with the slow service. The service staff then tried to keep us happy (see above) and apologized. Overall, unfortunately an evening with a pale aftertaste...

The menu, without a doubt, is terrific. But the real highlight is: the service. A perfectly coordinated, silent, highly professional and at the same time very friendly and personal team, led and inspired by the boss of the house - you rarely experience something like that. The brasserie at Les Deux was a great find with a modern menu. Every dish was prepared with a great attention to detail. The veal tongue salad was a wonderful stater. The meat was tender with a great crunch from the radishes and pickled cucumbers, with the creamy dressing pulling it all together. The steak au poivre with fries was also delicious. The tender steak was paired with a wonderful pepper sauce and crispy fries. And let’s talk about the dessert. The Pavlova looks stunning on the plate. And it tastes as good as it looks. The walnuts add a surprising crunch and work well with the raspberry, merengue, and curd cheese. My waiter Ono recommended the pavlova and he was right it was delicious. The service was excellent.

Great food and wine selection. But way too many waiters which keep running like crazy and killing the ambience. Also, pay attention to the volume of wine when you order. Here if you say a glass, you get 0.2 and not 0.1l. I hate when cheap restaurants are doing this and certainly didn't expect this attitude here

We decided to go to the Brasserie and was disappointing. The menu was conservative and nothing special, the food was ok but overpriced. The red wine was served straight from the fridge, unbelievable. The service was ok. We left hungry. I would not recommend and will not come back. We went celebrating a special occasion and ended up being very disappointed.

Review of the gourmet restaurant on the 1st floor: Star restaurant in downtown Munich in an architecturally interesting building in the Fünf Höfe. What is striking at Les Deux from the first to the last minute is the outstanding service. Attentive, charming, eloquent, always on hand, but never in such a way that you felt like you were being watched. The 6-course menu is beyond criticism. Arranged on the plate with great attention to detail, fine in the nuances of taste and the interaction of the individual ingredients. Currently with Loup De Mer, mackerel and lobster with a focus on aquatic animals, completed by a pigeon dish, which some may prefer to have replaced with an alternative, as it can be a bit tough or fibrous depending on the piece. Otherwise, among the outstanding other courses, the pre-dessert, a magnum-style ice cream, falls a little short because it is too sweet, too big in relation to the other courses and difficult to eat in the composition at hand. In the end, the price quoted for the menu is still more than okay. The drinks prices can be described as self-confident, not unusual in the catering industry, but here they are on the higher end at 10 euros per bottle of water or 25 euros for a glass of a good, but not exquisite, rosé champagne. We had a fantastic evening and look forward to our next visit. 5 stars for the gourmet restaurant. Update of the previous review of the brasserie on the ground floor, Oct. 21: The brasserie Les Deux on the ground floor has significantly increased its prices after changing the head chef and eliminated the rather inexpensive dishes without replacing them. The brasserie is therefore no longer an insider tip. Depending on the service person, the service is still either outstanding or average for the price level. The latter was mainly observed outdoors. The menu selection is now around 30+ Eur for main courses, with 1 or 2 exceptions. The quality is very good to excellent, but the price level is no longer entirely justified. After the last two visits under new management, our enthusiasm for the brasserie has waned. Since then, our alternative has usually been the ROMA on Maximilianstrasse.

The reception and seating by a lady at the entrance was friendly and professional. Shortly afterwards, the service staff put the menu in front of us without saying a word – without asking whether we would like water or an aperitif. Our order was also taken wordlessly and demonstratively disinterested. That's why the service employee had to ask again after five minutes what we had actually ordered as the main courses. The wrong aperitifs were then served - and after a long wait - completely wrong starters. General confusion among staff, but no apology. After three quarters of an hour we had our first course in front of us: good, but nothing special. The main course arrived in the normal time frame, although at least one of the main courses was really very good. We were not asked if we would like wine with the main course. When asked about a wine recommendation, the waiter said: “Take the Chardonnay – it goes well with everything.” (!) We are very familiar with this level of service from the “Brasserie” as well as the “Les Deux Restaurant”.

Les Deux in Munich is a must for so many reasons. Sit on the patio for a casual vibe but enjoy the food from Michelin Star Chef Nathalie Leblond. We love a badass woman chef. The meal began with a delightful surprise—tomato-infused butter. Who does this? A lovely person, that’s who. The oysters and sea scallops were exceptionally fresh and flavorful, highlighting the chef’s expertise in seafood. Grilled cucumbers, a dish I hadn't encountered before, turned out to be an interesting and pleasant surprise. Everything about this restaurant was spot-on, and to top it all off, I found another great Old Fashioned in Germany. Put this on your list.

We were in the gourmet restaurant on the first floor. Elegant atmosphere, not too big. We decided on the menu. We were looked after by an extremely charming and experienced service team. The various courses of the menu were incredible, each course was a joy in itself and it was a real shame when we unfortunately reached the end of the menu. It would be pointless to describe the individual dishes now, as the menu changes. But everything tasted and looked wonderful. What I also liked was the accommodating flexibility. When our service gentleman noticed that I didn't eat the raw fish (allergy), he brought me a different version from the kitchen and in the following courses he also made sure that my fish was a little more cooked through. I found that very thoughtful and I was pleased. Compliment!

Les Deux offers excellent food that lives up to its fine dining reputation, though I was disappointed with the wine pairing, as some selections were too strong for my taste. The service was average, falling short of what I'd expect in this setting. Additionally, it was surprising and unusual for a fine dining restaurant to ask for a tip, something I haven’t encountered elsewhere. That said, the location was great, making for a beautiful dining experience overall.

Unfortunately our visit did not live up to our expectations. A cool airport lounge atmosphere for a one star restaurant is unfortunately disappointing. The wine and champagne lists are extensive. We drank the recommended wine with Crook and paid 2366 euros for a 5-course meal for 8 adults. (Includes 8 cups of espresso) The food is closer to Japanese than what you can get in Germany, and is delicious but a little salty. I went there because it has 1 Michelin star, and it's worth recommending, but not worth visiting. Anyway, the food is on the salty side. please refer to this. Oh, the bread and butter are so delicious!

Current rating from June 2024 Also a guest at lunchtime, this time in the cozy courtyard. Service was impeccable, just like the first time, everyone was very professional and attentive. Only this time the food was unfortunately not a highlight like it was on my last visit… The salmon ceviche was very boring and barely dressed and the sweetbreads with chanterelles and fresh peas were too salty. The best thing was the homemade tomato cream cheese spread and the bread that went with it. We will come back, no question about it, but I still wanted to get rid of this because in such a noble ambience, which is of course above average in price, everything should be right on every visit! Rating of 2023: Exquisite lunch with baked oysters and rare specialties, caramelized sweetbreads Both dishes are not only visually beautiful to look at, but also a highlight in terms of taste. Of course, upscale and elegant ambiences also have a different price, but if the quality is right and your personal taste is met, it is more than satisfactory! We had a relatively spontaneous lunch at the Brasserie des Les Deux on Saturday lunchtime and were able to enjoy the fantastic weather on their terrace in the courtyard! Even though the city seemed to be bursting at the seams, you didn't notice the noise and hustle and bustle of the city. Together with some daily recommendations, the menu offers a nice selection of dishes that all sound delicious. We had a perfectly cooked pulpo with various salads, grenaille potatoes, avocado and peppers. Afterwards we had home-pickled Loch Duart salmon from Scotland which couldn't have been juicier or more tender. And finally in the dessert, puff pastry, vanilla and rhubarb. All in all very nice and very tasty. We'd love to come back!

I had dinner in this place twice and tried a revisited Couscous dish both times. The first time, I had a revised version which reminded me of the Tunisian mesfouf (which traditionally include sweet ingredients like pomegranates and dates). I found it incredibly tasty. On my second visit, I opted for a Couscous with beef slices and green asparagus, which had more of a European twist rather than the traditional North African recipe. However, it was still satisfying and interesting. For dessert, we had the crème brûlée, which was the best we've ever had: perfectly cooked custard with a velvety texture. In winter, no reservation is needed, but for summer dining on the terrace, I highly recommend making a reservation in advance.

I recently spent a lovely evening here with a colleague. We were warmly welcomed, the food was very good and we enjoyed the time until... Until it came time to pay the bill. The gentleman who collected us had probably forgotten that the tip was at the guest's discretion, because when he paid he loudly, presumptuously and shamefully complained about the amount. Given the ambience and reputation of the restaurant, we were very upset about such a derailment. Since I wasn't the person paying, I didn't comment further on this, but it leaves a bitter aftertaste. I can only speak for myself, I won't be visiting the restaurant again.

Lunch in the brasserie. We tested the business menu and are very impressed with it. Excellent French cuisine, served in a friendly manner, in a quiet, discreet and artfully designed ambience. Everything fits together here. The service is careful, takes very attentive care to the guests. Despite being busy, you feel friendly and well cared for here. The dishes come lovingly arranged and impress with lots of taste and aromas. The finely composed dessert provides a nice ending to the menu. The selection of drinks leaves nothing to be desired - even in the non-alcoholic range. Conclusion: Gladly again!

Unser Besuch am Montagabend hat uns große Freude bereitet. Eine Person an unserem Tisch bekam (nach vorheriger Ankündigung bei der Reservierung) eine eigens für sie zusammengestellte Menü-Karte, die jedoch sehr gut an das Originalmenü angelehnt wurde, sodass alle Gäste ein ähnliches Geschmackserlebnis haben konnten. Uns war es am Ende des Abends sogar ein bisschen viel Essen, allerdings von hervorragender Qualität und Kreativität. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Nun...ich habe hier tatsächlich ein anderes Niveau erwartet. Die Speisen sind gut, fehlt jedoch für mich persönlich die Finesse, welche ich aus Frankreich oder auch Restaurants mit französischer Küche bisher erleben und genießen durfte. Einigen Mitarbeitern aus dem Service fehlen zudem einfachste Fachkenntnisse, z. B. werden Teller und Besteck normalerweise nicht abgeräumt während der Gast noch kaut. Hier bedarf es wirklich einer entsprechenden Nachschulung. Hervorzuheben ist allerdings die Auswahl an Weinen. Liebhaben kommen hier definitiv auf ihre Kosten.

Ich war heute seit dem Weggang von Edip Sigl erstmals wieder im Sterne-Restaurant im Obergeschoss. Das Essen ist weiterhin auf einem TOP Niveau. In meinem Augen ein bisschen "purer" und klassischer als bei Sigl, aber geschmacklich einfach hervorragend. Die Weinempfehlung passte sehr gut, das Serviceteam arbeitete trotz vollem Haus auf hohem Niveau. Überhaupt sind die Herzlichkeit und die sympathischen Sprüche hervorzuheben... allen voran Gastgeber Fabrice Kiefer, der mit seiner liebenswerten und höflichen Art alles zusammenhält. Essen war wirklich lecker. Ambiente top. Wasserglas war immer bis zum Rand eingeschränkt, hier hatte ich eher das Gefühl, ich soll noch eine Flasche bestellen, da diese sehr schell leer war. Ich hätte mir gewünscht, daß nach jedem Gang der Tisch wieder sauber bemacht wird und wenn es nur darum geht die Brotkrümel mit einer Kleinen Bürrste wegzufegen. Im Ganzen trotzdem zufrieden gewesen. Exquisit dining experience, definitely a spot out of the ordinary! The service was outstanding, and pricing is still „affordable“ given the amount of courses and location. Definitely recommended for a special occasion!

Wir hatten im Les Deux unsere erste Erfahrung in einem Sternerestaurant. Es war wunderschön! Das Essen war ausgezeichnet, super durchgedachte Gänge und jeder Gang war eine Überraschung. Statt 8 Gängen bekamen wir sogar letztendlich fast 10 Gänge, da es zwischendurch auch mal eine kleine Überraschung öÄ gab. Auch gab es hervorragende vegetarische Alternativen bzw. Fleischalternativen ohne Fisch. Der Service war sehr freundlich, auch wenn wir wahrscheinlich um einiges jünger wirkten als das normale Klientel. Die Preise findet man online, sind für ein Sternerestaurant wahrscheinlich auch angemessen. Die Stimmung war sehr angenehm, weil es gerade nicht super still, steif und spießig wirkte, sondern sich die Leute normal unterhielten und eine lockere aber elegante Stimmung herrschte. Natürlich ist auch das Ambiente sehr schick und elegant. Wir sind sehr zufrieden mit unserer Erfahrung!

Wir wollten nur etwas trinken, uns wurde von einer freundlichen Dame ein Platz für zwei Personen auf der Terrasse zugewiesen. Wir bestellten ein Bier und ein Glas Weißwein. Ein befreundetes Pärchen, das zufällig vorbei kam, setzte sich zu uns an den Tisch, Stühle wurden sehr zuvorkommend sofort gebracht. Alles bestens, bis dann die Rechnung kam, da machten wir große Augen und fragten ungläubig, ob da ein Fehler unterlaufen sei. Ein Bier eher 0,4 statt 0,5 für 7 € ist schon ein stolzer Preis, aber ein Glas Wein 0,2 für 24 €, das war uns dann doch unverständlich. Auf Nachfrage wurde uns der Preis bedauernd bestätigt. War wohl unser Fehler vorher nicht auf die Karte zu schauen, aber wer rechnet mit solchen Preisen?? Einmal und nie wieder!!

I wish I could go back in time and have this food experience all over again. It was an amazing way to end my vacation in Germany. The wine pairing was exceptional, the food was beyond anything I’ve ever had and was so so delicious. Overall we had a great time. One for the books. You are served about 10 or 11 courses with the tasting menu so please allow yourself about 3 hrs to enjoy it.

Wir besuchten die Terrasse, nicht das Restaurant. Die Bedienung war ausgesucht höflich und freundlich. Die Anrede mit "Madame" und "Monsieur" steigert wohl für viele den Erlebniswert französischer Gastronomie und solcher, die sich dazu rechnen. Das hat man sich von den Italienern abkopiert. Der Flammekuchen Gorgonzola+Birne war schön kross, wobei allerdings Gorgonzola kaum zu schmecken und die Birne in Form von Kompott in Klecksen auf den fertigen Flammekuchen verteilt war. Das gelingt anderswo besser. Der Hauptgang, Krabbencocktail und Huhn, wurde zunächst vergessen und kam erst nach Reklamation und mehr als eine Stunde nach Bestellung auf den Tisch. Das kann in den besten Häusern schon mal vorkommen. Als Entschädigung wurde ein Glas Champagner offeriert (das der Autofahrer-Gast leider nicht annehmen konnte) Der Krabbencocktail war dann überreichlich, aber die Mayonnaise ließ keine geschmacklichen Überraschungen zu. Unser Fehler: warum bestellt man sich auch Krabbencocktail in einem franz. Restaurant? Das Huhn dagegen war wirklich exzellent und versöhnte .

Such für ein Sterneresraurant ist das Essen wirklich besonders. Der Service ist grundsätzlich auch super freundlich jedoch wurde unsere Bitte etwas weniger Zeit zwischen den Gängen zu lassen ignoriert. Somit dauerte das ganze Menü von 19:00 bis 23:00 Uhr an einem Wochentag (andere Gäste waren schneller). Mit viel Wein und 4 Personen (alle Menü) lagen wir bei 1.750€. Da würde ich erwarten, dass auf die Hinweise der Gäste besser eingegangen wird - sonst wären es 5 Sterne gewesen.

Diese Bewertung gilt der Les Deux Brasserie: Die Terrasse im Sommer überzeugt, dafür ist das Ambiente im Innenraum (Lichtdesign) ausbaufähig. Hervorragend ist der Service, der uns immer wieder ein wunderbares Erlebnis bereitet und uns all unsere Wünsche von den Augen abliest. Empfehlenswert ist das klassische Beef Tatar. Der gegrillte Romanasalat und das Kikok Huhn sind eine echte Überraschung!

Das Essen war hervorragend. Vom Anfang bis zum Ende - wir hatten das ganze Menu. Auch die Weinbegleitung passend und sehr gut. Der Service, na ja… man muss nicht mal Michelin Sterne Maßstäbe ansetzen. Nur zwei Beispiele: Amuse-Bouche bringen, wenn die Menu-Karten noch nicht eingesammelt wurden geschweige denn es eine Auswahl der Gerichte gab, kenne ich so nicht - denn wohin mit den Karten? Beim hochwertigen Jahrgangs-Champagner zu behaupten er reifte 18-24 Monate und zu sagen „das wäre immer so“ ...
