Laufauf in Hamburg

For starters, I had garlic bread with three different dips. The bread was very crispy and delicious. The dips, especially the chili dip, were delicious. Afterward, I had the Neptune fish platter. The fried potatoes were crispy and deliciously seasoned. The fish fillets were seared in a nice, crispy fat on the outside and tender and moist on the inside. It was served with herb butter. Everything was delicious. The interior is beautifully rustic with wood paneling. We enjoyed it and would recommend the restaurant.

Good Hamburg cuisine. The service was friendly and helpful. Our requests were also communicated. When they couldn't be accommodated, three alternatives were suggested. We were there with a large group. The food arrived quickly, and the portions were more than ample. It was a very nice evening with you.

My last visit to Laufauf was a very good experience. Since we were in the mood for hearty, German home cooking, I stumbled upon this restaurant during my search and reserved a table for two at 6 p.m. Although we arrived a little early, we received a very friendly welcome and were immediately shown to our seats. Our drink order for a Spezi (0.4 l) and a Spezi (0.2 l) was taken quickly. When choosing the main courses—a Steinstraße minced meat casserole (large) and a Steckelhörn minced meat casserole (small)—my mother asked about the difference in the portion sizes. The server assured us that the small portion was also very filling. However, we had to wait almost 45 minutes for our dishes, which was a bit of a surprise. When the casseroles arrived, we noticed that there was hardly any visible difference in size between the large and small portions. Therefore, we didn't feel the value for money was entirely convincing for the large portion, as the small portion seemed just as filling. Despite the long wait, the casseroles were exceptionally delicious and definitely worth the wait. A particular highlight was the homemade schnapps "Daddeldu," which we tried and enjoyed so much that we even took a small bottle home with us. The ambiance is very cozy, quaint, and rustic, reinforcing the impression of a traditional inn. The Ed Sheeran poster on the wall was a surprise, lending the place a personal and unexpected touch. The restaurant itself is very clean and tidy, and the restrooms are no exception. Overall, Laufauf is a clear recommendation for anyone who values ​​delicious, traditional dishes in a cozy, almost homey atmosphere.

The food and service were very good. The portions here are very large, for my taste, and presented simply yet attractively. I had the Wiener Schnitzel, which was very tasty. A very central restaurant, located a short distance from Hamburg's Lutheran Cathedral, in the heart of the historic Kontorhausviertel district. A word of warning: there's a long wait for food; don't expect a place where you'll be served within minutes, but I can assure you it's worth it. Service is slow, but the staff are truly friendly and make you feel immediately at ease. The food is truly excellent and plentiful; the typical Hamburg fish dishes are highly recommended, as is the pork cooked in a delicious sauce, accompanied by accompanying rolls. In short, definitely a place worth trying if you want to immerse yourself in the city's culinary tradition. Highly recommended.

Unfortunately, I can't rate anything, as the waiter told us to leave at 9:00 PM, "Unfortunately, we don't have anything to eat, the kitchen is closed. We just want to go home." The shop was supposed to be open until 10:00 PM.

Actually, it's a very quaint and cozy inn. Unfortunately, it's a bit dated, not so much the ambiance, but the food prices. Even though the portions were generous, the necessary attention to taste and presentation lacked. I couldn't find a reputation as a true Hamburg inn where you can still enjoy authentic food. It's a shame, but they could do better if they weren't just catering to tourists.

We moved outside because it was warm inside, but then it started raining, so we moved back inside. Due to our inconvenience, we were served a glass of delicious liqueur, which was very sweet, since the inconvenience was not their fault. They can't control the rain.

Friday evening 20:00. A very mediocre schnitzel. More breadcrumbs than meat and the taste was flat. Potatoes were tasty which was of course nice but with a schnitzel dish the schnitzel should be the queen. The price-quality ratio is completely out of whack and completely lost. Too expensive. Staff is friendly and proactive, especially the somewhat older waiter. Unfortunately I do not recommend this restaurant and it is advisable to look further.

Restaurant serving classic regional German cuisine located in the center of Hamburg. A place with a rather old-fashioned decor, wood, wooden chairs and tables, and dim lighting. The place is quite spacious. The menu consists of well-known Hamburg dishes, as well as meat, fish, salads, and a few desserts. We were two people for dinner and ordered two dishes. Hamburger Pannfisch is a hot tray with three fish fillets: salmon, perch, and redfish. These fillets are lightly floured and fried. They are accompanied by roasted potatoes with bacon and onion, pickles, and a delicious mustard sauce. It was quite good. The other dish we ordered was the Matjesfilet Hamburger Art, which features a pair of Matjes fillets (herring) with a beetroot, onion, apple, and cucumber sauce, accompanied by the typical roasted potatoes with bacon and onion, plus a mediocre salad. The tomatoes I've tried at the various restaurants I've been to have been bland, and this one was no exception. The dish overall was quite good; the herring had a good flavor, and the beetroot sauce was quite tasty. Summary: Well-prepared regional classics, everything was fine. Good food at good prices. Specialises in Auflauf which is like oven baked casseroles. Though I had the Scholle which was a huge portion with Bratkartoffeln with bacon which was tasty. Service was friendly and prompt. Though what was a complete letdown was that we waited over two hours for two courses. Not even an apology or anything which dampened the night for us. Would have loved to stay for dessert but after two hours we were tired and just wanted to home and rest.

If you come from Mexico, you will love this place, traditional, abundant and tasty.

I waited for 40 minutes after ordering and no food had arrived to my table. I went to who seemed to be the manager to raise my complaint and he not only did not recognise the bad service and apologised but justified the massive delay and was absolute impolite, even rude. A total disgrace of place. Plenty of restaurants in the area. Find another and do not go to this place.

A wonderful, quaint restaurant that we visit at least once during every visit to Hamburg. They serve typical Hamburg dishes, such as Labskaus, as well as other dishes. Casseroles are a particular focus (see the play on words in the name...). The restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere because the tables aren't too far apart, creating a lively atmosphere. The restaurant is often very busy, especially in the evenings, so reservations are always recommended. The service is very helpful and friendly; you immediately feel at home. I can therefore fully recommend the Laufauf restaurant if you want to enjoy a special culinary experience.

Laufauf is a famous german recipe commonly known as casserole in english or one pot baked food. Mainly the base is potato and then spinach,meat etc is added. The restaurant is located in central Hamburg and easy to get places. They have seasonal recipes like Spargel season. We enjoyed the food.

We were there for the first time because of the very good reviews and ate casseroles there twice. I had a casserole with pork fillet, mushrooms, asparagus and carrots in slices. The dish didn't convince me at all in terms of taste or craftsmanship. That's why 1 star, the service was great, so we liked the ambience 5 stars.

haben auf Empfehlung hin das Lokal besucht. Es war total voll und super Ambiente. leider mussten wir über 90 Minuten auf das Essen warten. mein Spinatauflauf war zwar heiss, aber fade+wässerig. Der Kellner hat das ganze gerettet mit seiner Art und ne zweite Runde Daddeldu - darum 3 statt 1Punkt PS: Personalausfall ist kein Argument. Geschmack sollte immer top sein (warten ist zweitrangig).

We can only recommend eating and drinking. Small restaurant in Hamburg...but really great. The service is very accommodating and the food is amazing. We'll definitely be back
