Food was very good, service too

We spent 11 days of our summer vacation at the Ziegelscheune. The rooms were spacious and the food was good. The service was also excellent. The staff was always friendly. Unfortunately, there was no food service after 8 p.m. In the summer, with nice weather, I would have liked to have a drink in the evening. There is a terrace with a view of the Elbe. Nevertheless, it was a lovely vacation for us. Dogs are also very welcome.

All in all, it was okay for the price. The rooms are starting to need some renovation, and since it's an old building, the ceilings and walls are very thin. Dinner and breakfast are also okay, but nothing more. The kitchen closes very early at 7 p.m., even though the sign says 8 p.m. So we didn't get dessert, but the guests who arrived after us were served. Of course, that makes you feel a bit... silly.

The food was good. The service was unfortunately very unfriendly. Ketchup and mayo cost extra, but it wasn't stated. Topping up my phone also cost an extra €2.

The burger was really tasty, and the fried onions were top-notch. Unfortunately, one of the servers was very unfriendly and snippy.

I stayed at the Captain's House for a long weekend. My impression was very positive: friendly staff and a great room!

This was our second time at this country inn and we were very pleased. The location right on the Elbe River and the view of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains were fantastic. The rooms are very clean and equipped with everything you need. The breakfast and food were always plentiful and we enjoyed it very much.

We only ate here and didn't stay overnight. The food was delicious and the portions were very generous. It's a bit hidden away, but very quiet and cozy. The service was quick and very friendly. We felt very comfortable.

We were cruising on the Elbe River by boat 🛶. We chose this lovely restaurant for a short break. 🍺 House beer and delicious dumplings with filling. You have to try them. Absolutely delicious. We'll be back! ☀️

The food was a real surprise – we had goulash, spaetzle, and schnitzel, and everything was truly outstanding. The view is also fantastic. I would recommend it to anyone who comes to this area and appreciates good food.

The view is stunning and adds to the atmosphere. Unfortunately, we didn't feel truly welcome. The reception was rather rude and unwelcoming – a real shame, especially since the restaurant was completely empty at the time. Apparently, our spontaneous decision to come without a reservation wasn't appreciated. Overall, mixed impressions... the food was very solid, but the service could definitely be improved.

We were very satisfied and thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the historic brick barn/Captain's House room. Great service, friendly staff, and really good, fresh food. I'd definitely recommend it. And the location is beautiful. The ferry takes you to the center of Bad Schandau in no time.

Wonderful location right on the Elbe River. A good, varied breakfast, which you can enjoy in a relaxed atmosphere in the conservatory with its beautiful view. We also had a beautiful view of the Schrammsteine ​​from our balcony and enjoyed our stay overall.

The two of us stayed here for three nights at the beginning of April and were given a room with a balcony on the 2nd floor. We were welcomed by a very nice lady who gave lots of good tips about the area and the hikes. The room had a fantastic view of the Elbe, just a stone's throw away, and of the sandstone cliffs on the other bank. Booked with breakfast, which was good, with small daily changes. Our special requests regarding food were promptly fulfilled by a friendly employee. All in one: thanks to the best weather, the very good location of the house and, last but not least, the friendliness of the staff, it was a very successful short vacation. Thanks! PS: We can be reassured because of the bang tracks nearby - the trains passing by were barely audible!

Very friendly hosts and pleasant stay! The only drawback - the radiators were turned off when we arrived. Ideal place to switch off for a few days. The restaurant is excellent and very cozy!

We were given a large room that was already warmed up when we arrived in shitty weather. That's not always the case and certainly not anymore since the Greens in this country want to save the climate of the entire world. And make heating expensive through CO2 taxes.

First experience on December 20th, early evening, ...the best meal from Heidenau up the Elbe, and in the last larger restaurant before the Czech border, so right at the back :) , superbly prepared --> every detail of the dish on the plate.

Friendly service, beautiful winter garden, tasty food

We spent a short vacation in the Ziegelscheune for the second time from October 18th, 2024 to October 23rd, 2024 and were, as always, very satisfied with the accommodation. The food and the service from the staff leave nothing to be desired. Always happy to come back.

This is a review of the restaurant: we were here spontaneously at 5 p.m. and got the last unreserved table! So it's better to call and reserve. The Hacker-Pschorr was very tasty. The Saxon potato soup as well. And then the ox cheeks! Great! The service was very friendly and competent. We sat outside in the best weather. Great!

Were there for dinner. It is a beautiful location on the Elbe. In terms of food, it is intentionally upscale. The price is upscale, the food is not.

An incredibly beautifully located place with a lot of potential. Unfortunately, the first impression was somewhat marred by the welcome. Although there were still several tables available outside about 1.5 hours before the kitchen closed in the evening, we were asked whether we had reserved. When we answered no, the older waiter was visibly upset, but then gave us a small (!) table. All other tables had a “reserved” sign. Of course, no more guests came for these reserved tables. It seemed to us that they deliberately wanted to keep tables free for capacity reasons. By the way, this seems to be a fundamental problem in the region, a lack of skilled personnel. Now we ordered goulash with dumplings and ox cheeks. And here there was light and shadow in one place. While my goulash tasted great and was rich, the ox cheeks were below average. 50 percent of the cheeks consisted of pure fat and were inedible. To top it off, my wife found a dead wasp in the food. Luckily she didn't bite it or swallow it, not imagining what would have happened if it had stabbed the roof of her mouth. So the plate remained half full. So far so bad. However, when the foreign-speaking waitress wanted to clear the plate and didn't waste a single question asking whether it wasn't tasty or there was a problem, we literally had to stop her running away and point out the wasp and ask her to pass this on to the kitchen and to ask for more care. No excuse. The only thing that was mentioned was that it could be replaced, which we thought was a bold statement since the kitchen had already closed by now. We decided not to and wanted to order a desert instead. Far from it, as already mentioned, the kitchen was already closed and there was no more desert. Unfortunately, the staff doesn't do the great place justice, even though there's obviously potential, as you could see from my goulash. We can therefore only recommend the restaurant to a limited extent.

Delicious food with a great view! The dishes “for small appetites” weren’t that small and everything was very lovingly prepared. Also high quality and with crisp, fresh salad. We can particularly recommend the bratwursts and the vegetarian panini. Although the staff was totally understaffed and the terrace was completely full, the service was top notch, fast and super friendly. That's what you want, thank you very much!

After my arrival in Krippen, I was looking for an opportunity to enjoy the view of the Elbe in sunny weather. I got a good tip here. The beer garden is located directly on the Elbe meadows, within sight of the Schrammsteine ​​sandstone mountains. I was served very nicely. I chose an unfiltered house beer as well as roast pork, Bohemian dumplings and bacon sauerkraut. It was very delicious and filling, unfortunately too much. If the portion were smaller, the price could certainly be reduced.

Very pleasant and nice restaurant with friendly staff. You can't miss it on the way from Děčín to bad Schandau along the cycle path, be sure to stop here. We offer home cooking. I was stung by a bee here due to my own carelessness, and the waiter reacted immediately and brought me vinegar and onions, thanks to him I didn't have to fly to the pharmacy, I don't know how it would have turned out ... (by the way, he is originally from the Czech Republic with excellent German.) I highly recommend!

The first really good cuisine in a week. You want to sink your teeth into the sauces. Meat tender as butter, the dumplings perfect and a sauerkraut, heavenly. When I'm in the area again, the brick barn is an absolute must.

Hier war ich wieder zum Abendessen und bedauere den Rückschritt! Ohne Vorbestellung ist spontan fast kein Platz zu bekommen, denn durch die Lage direkt am Elberadweg linksseitig ist das Lokal stets gut besucht. Im Frühsommer mit schönes Plätzchen mit Blick auf die Elbe das gegenüber liegende Elbsandsteingebirge. Der Service am Gast hat bedauernd nachgelassen und die Karte bietet aktuell nur geringe Abwechslung, jedoch sind die Gerichte auf hohem Niveau zubereitet. Der Preis dafür ist mehr als fair und angemessen. Dank dennoch und mein Wunsch nach einer Karte mit mehr Esprit und Gaumenfreude!

We had booked two nights including breakfast over Pentecost. The country inn is ideal for a short break. Great location right on the Elbe cycle path. Highly recommended for hiking trips or cycling tours. Very, very nice staff, great rooms, a lovingly prepared breakfast buffet and a super delicious evening dish (beef goulash with Bohemian dumplings) made our Pentecost weekend a great experience. We spontaneously went here for dinner today and it was really great. The food came quickly and was of great quality. There was delicious house beer and a great ambience. Price-performance was also right here. And there are free parking spaces directly at the inn, which is really worth mentioning in Bad Schandau. The only criticism... The espresso was very thin. But I think coffee isn't necessarily the inn's specialty 😅

08/15 flophouse for obese Pedelec riders and other would-be active people. Old German writing and tiled floors... East Saxony. I had just completed a 3-hour canoe stage and was told to please PUT my soaking wet water shoes back on outside so as not to disturb the ambience, while a bloated carcass of AWO boss Jürgen Richter was sitting at the next table. His skin-tight cycling outfit did little to hide his lack of fitness and physical aesthetics, especially since his top was unzipped down to his belly button. There was nothing bad so far behind the Czech border...moms, moms and more moms, I can tinder in an Adler fashion market on Saturday mornings. Beer was okay, but it wasn't from here either.

Wonderful panoramic terrace with a large tree that provides wonderful shade. Here you can quietly watch the hustle and bustle on the Elbe. The panini for €9.10 with the delicious basil pesto is highly recommended. The small side salad included is fresh and dressed with a tasty dressing. The view of the rocks on the Elbe completes the stay.

We discovered the restaurant by chance on our bike tour. The kitchen can do something (not just 0815)! Spaetzle and Rösti are highly recommended.

Wir waren während unseres Urlaubs zweimal in der Ziegelscheune essen. Einmal hab es den Ziegelscheune Burger mit tollen Fritten, beim zweiten Mal Gulasch und Schweinebraten. Alles war wirklich top und sehr reichhaltig. Die Bedienung nett und aufmerksam. Die Lage direkt an der Elbe ist einfach spitze.

I had chosen the Landgasthof Ziegelscheune for my four-day hiking trip. The location is phenomenal, right on the Elbe with a view of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. The room was on the ground floor of the 200-year-old house. It was clean, equipped with a coffee machine and a large daylight shower room. Everything was absolutely to my satisfaction. The breakfast in buffet form was very good. The sausages came from the country butcher in the neighboring village, the egg salad was homemade and everything was served with love in the winter garden. In the evening there was very good cuisine with great regional products. An extra big compliment goes to all the service staff who made my stay so incredibly pleasant. THANK YOU 🙏 I will definitely come back 🥰

The Ziegelscheune is a very cozy place. The menu is clear, but there is something for every taste. The food was really amazing. Totally freshly prepared and prepared with love. Our own beer is highly recommended. Very happy again

We were only here for dinner in the evening. We had a starter (salad and minced cheese leek soup), a main course (brick barn burger and cheese spaetzle) and a dessert (brownies with lemon curd). We loved all the dishes! Everything was very tasty and lovingly prepared. The waiter was also very friendly and attentive. Was at the table several times and asked whether everything was to our satisfaction. The view is also very beautiful. We sat directly at a window facing the Elbe. Unfortunately, the sun sets very early in February and you didn't have this beautiful view for very long. We can't say anything negative!

We asked by phone on February 16th, 2024 whether we could spend the night in our mobile home on February 18th, 2024 after eating at the country inn in the associated parking lot. The answer was no problem. When we arrived around midday, we positioned our motorhome so that we only took up two parking spaces. We registered and after an inspection by an employee we were told again it was OK. Shortly before 6 p.m. the new tenant appeared and explained to us that we were not allowed to stand there??? We were about to leave! My wife then managed to convince him otherwise and we were allowed to stay. Afterwards we enjoyed a really good meal with a couple of friends, accompanied by very nice service, and we estimated that we probably generated a third of the turnover that evening! At around 10 a.m. there was a knock on the door and a young man, apparently also an employee of the restaurant, asked us to leave the premises immediately because the owner does not tolerate mobile homes. Thank you for the Saxon hospitality and the great drinks offers (Meissner Pinot Gris 0.25 l for over 11 euros, a glass of tap water 1.50 euros) as well as the nice interpersonal encounters.

Great inn right on the Elbe, in a rural area right on the Elbe cycle path. The nearby, busy train line to the Czech Republic should be pointed out, but it didn't bother us as the windows and doors were closed. Friendly service that provides competent advice on activities and hikes in Saxon Switzerland. The rooms have scenic river and mountain views. A special highlight: the lovingly prepared breakfast, which leaves nothing to be desired! Gladly again!

Wir waren zum Abendessen in der Ziegelscheune. Das Restaurant ist etwas versteckt, ohne Navigation hätten wir vermutlich umgedreht. Parkplätze sind direkt nebenan. Der Service ist freundlich und schnell, die Speisen frisch und lecker. Die Aussicht auf die Elbe konnten wir leider nicht mehr genießen da es schon dunkel wurde. Insgesamt sehr zu empfehlen
