Gambrinus in Bad Schandau

The food was average, but nothing special, and the prices were still well over €20. The service was rather unfriendly and bored. We won't be going there again.

Unfortunately, the pizza wasn't very good; I don't understand how others can rave about it so much. The margarita was very reminiscent of a good frozen pizza, and the vegetarian pizza was reminiscent of a homemade pizza with ready-made dough. But: The service was really friendly and the atmosphere was nice. The menu otherwise looked very good, too.

My pizza Diavolo reminded me of a pre-made pizza from the refrigerated section. Our son had pasta Bolognese, which was quite good. Unfortunately, the waitress seemed a bit annoyed and didn't even thank us for the tip. We sat in the courtyard, so I can't comment on the ambiance inside. Apparently, it's quite nice, though. All in all, we wouldn't go there again. It's a shame, since we had made a reservation the day before.

We arrived in the middle of the holiday season without a reservation...but the staff were still very friendly, and the wait for a table was minimal. The food was fantastic! Everyone was still raving about the pizza days later (we all had ONLY pizza, so we have no idea what the other dishes were like). The service was super friendly despite the packed place! The table in the courtyard was super cozy and perfect for the meal. 😁😁 Highly recommend!

Great place, we had pizza with delicious toppings. Pizza is made from dough. It doesn't rise like at an Italian restaurant, but we were very satisfied.

We went without a reservation on a whim, and luckily we were lucky. We enjoyed the food. The service was good. The price/performance ratio was very good.

We had excellent meals there three times in a row, even though we didn't have a reservation and it was a long weekend. The staff were always genuinely friendly, accommodating, and cheerful, even though the restaurant was full and obviously very busy. Often, you're at the mercy of grumpy waiters, and you get rudely spoken to if you arrive without a reservation or the restaurant is at capacity – there wasn't a hint of that here. Huge praise to the entire team!!!

We stopped in spontaneously and were immediately seated in the quiet, sunny courtyard. The service was excellent, very friendly and attentive! Good selection, large portions, and perfectly reasonable prices.

Nice ambiance, service staff friendly and prompt. Unfortunately, the quality of our food (veal schnitzel) was unsatisfactory. It tasted bland, the potatoes very dry and coated with some kind of oil or butter. The salami pizza was dripping with grease and also tasted unsatisfactory.

We went spontaneously on a Monday evening (no reservation) and sat outside in the idyllic courtyard. Starter 🍺 and bruschetta (it was gone too quickly for a picture 😉) - main course: 3 pizzas. 🍕 The staff were super friendly from start to finish, even when the place was packed. We paid by card - the kids were happy! Everyone enjoyed their meal. We'd gladly go again!

I had a schnitzel with vegetables and potatoes. The schimtzel was Ok, but not special. The vegetables were too salty at the point of uneatable. My daughter had nioki which had a sauce with to much cream and they charge 2 euro extra for parmesan. The only vegan option were spaghetti with vegetables, they didn't taste like home made pasta.

Very good food. There's something for everyone, whether you like fish, meat, or vegan. Beautiful location, very fair prices. We'll definitely be back!

If you traveling as an asian group and want to eat here, then I wouldnt recommend you this place. Because they treated you as second class citizen here. We asked if we could sit outside and they denied us, later on new guests arrived and they could sit outside. The reason they gave us is because it will rain outside. Eventhough the sun came out not so long after we sat down while ordering the food. We wanted to sit inside on the brighter side of the restaurant, they didnt want to let us sit there aswell. They put us in a dark corner of the restaurant. The pizza tastes fine, however through this kind of service. As long as you aren't european, then they will look down on you while serving you. There are better places to go than this place. This was also our first time and our last time here.

The food is just average, the potatoes are flavorless and the pizza is as tasty as a frozen pizza. The welcome is not very warm and we are quickly guided to the exit in the rain.

Hello, I personally have to say that the food is delicious. The staff is friendly and the restaurant is very cozy. The price/performance ratio is also very good. A little tip: pre-ordering is probably better.

1 euro for ice cubes. Short stopover in Bad Schandau. We actually only wanted a glass of wine and a beer. There was a limited selection of wine and it was very expensive. No matter, we ordered it. The beer was well-tapped and nice and cold. The wine wasn't really cold (€11.80 for 0.25l), but it should have been at the perfect temperature, so we asked for some ice cubes. The waitress then sold me a beer glass, which was very nice. But €1.00 for ice cubes, a disgrace. I didn't see the bill until I got to the hotel and couldn't say anything right away. Two days later, I went back, brought it up, and a shorter waitress said she couldn't imagine it...now she can, see picture.

Definitely recommended. Super delicious food. There was only a short time between ordering and serving. Unfortunately, we couldn't sit outside, even though there were still free tables. Hence only 4 out of 5 stars.

Sunday evening we wanted have a Beer after our Hike. The sign says the Kitchen closes at 9pm but they are open till 10pm. So we figured we would be able to enjoy a nice Beer. To our surprise we where told that they would close now. It was 9:10pm. There where several people still seated. Another group of 6 was also turned away. If your sign says you are open till 10pm than honor that or change the sign. I would avoid this place.

2 stars because it looks really nice. We wanted to stop here later. Upon arriving in Bad Schandau, we urgently needed to use the restroom. Coincidentally, there are public restrooms across the street from the Gambrinus. At the start of our hike, I simply wanted to exchange one euro for 50 cents for the restroom across the street. Despite a full till, that wasn't possible. Therefore, we won't be eating here tonight. Sorry, but our first impression of the "warm welcome" shown to potential guests wasn't satisfactory...

We've been to Gambrinus several times...but unfortunately the quality has declined...the price and food don't match up at all anymore. We had veal schnitzel, which was basically good, but the side dishes were a disaster...the vegetables were absolutely bland and poorly prepared, and the potatoes were extremely dry and lacking any flavor...a real shame...for us, this was our last visit to this restaurant.

We arrived in the afternoon. The waitress was very nice. We asked about the closing time at 3:30 p.m., but this varies from day to day depending on the customer. The food arrived super quickly and was delicious and beautifully presented. The ambiance was also very nice; we sat outside in the courtyard. All in all, very pleasant and highly recommended.

We found this place by coincidence, and since there was a good vibe going on outside, we decided to sit down. They did not have any empty tables outside, so placed us inside. Our table was unfortunately just in front of the bar, where they sort their cutlery, and it was really loud and annoying. (Including a few accidents and broken glasses) I even asked the waitress if she could move us out as soon as something becomes available, but she did not seem too happy about that, she said ok let‘s see. Then one table became available, but she did not move us. The food was good, but would have been a better experience if the staff also paid some attention to the request of guests.

Great pizza! Unfortunately, there was only room inside. It's worth making a reservation if you want to sit outside. The restaurant itself was unfortunately very noisy, as they were constantly sorting cutlery and occasionally dropped dishes on the floor. Otherwise, the service was very pleasant and friendly. If you're talking about fast food, it's a great place. In less than 60 minutes, four guests were fed...! Mini pizza for a great price, even at MCCES they still smile at you after you order. There is better nearby! After Easter, Bad Schandau is a service desert either way!

Good food, high prices that are only partially justified because they fill the plates with a lot of lentils, I didn't like that. Please offer potatoes, for example, then I would also be willing to give my money there. So I'm currently avoiding the place. Location is really nice though.

I'm vegan and the restaurant has some vegan selections. I had the bruscetta (Grana Padano) which was incredibly tasty and the baguette was also slightly warm. The main course was the triplets with zucchini, mushrooms and red onions, which was incredibly good. I didn't know that vegetables could taste so good 😃 well seasoned and served hot. The pizza (ordered without cheese) was also really tasty, fluffier dough! Service super friendly!

We had dinner here with our supplier and I have to say: No thanks. That's not for me. When we entered the restaurant I was positively impressed because it has a very nice atmosphere. The interior design is cozy, warm and calm. But when the food came to the table, my joy in this restaurant evaporated. As a starter we had a salad. There was only bitter lettuce innards in the salad. That wasn't appetizing. All the taste was gone. For the main course I ordered the pike perch for €26.50. But what I got was a huge, deep plate with a small zander fillet, which was divided. The side dishes were well portioned. But it looks pretty stupid when there are twice as many potatoes as fish on the plate. Getting a deep plate for a fish is also anything but practical. The taste of the food wasn't great. I have the impression that everything was frozen and ready-made sauce (my opinion). Price-performance: Poor Because I wasn't full at all from that little bit of fish. And I have never found so many bones in a zander FILET. The service was friendly, but also extremely annoying. Every few minutes she would come prancing around and ask, “You’re okay.” The next day we ordered pizza here. The result was an even greater catastrophe than the day before. According to the menu, the pizza is based on an original Italian recipe. But here too I am personally convinced that it is a ready-made dough. I've eaten many proper Italian pizzas, but I see this as an insult to the art of Italian pizza. The dough was hard, like a leftover bread roll, and the taste wasn't good either. If you licked the underside you could lick a high salt content. That definitely wasn't just 3%. I have IBD and am extremely sensitive to finished products. I felt this in the afternoon on the way home. Therefore, I am convinced that the pizza and/or the tomato sauce were finished products. Thank you for that!! (This review only reflects my personal impression).

We were there on October 24th. and on November 1st, 2024 for two at Gambrinus Essen. The first time we had game meat and on the second visit a pizza and a large salad plate with special requests in the form of fried mushrooms, which were implemented immediately. Everything tasted great. With drinks and tips we paid between €50 and €60. It was absolutely worth it. We can only recommend eating at Gambrinus to everyone.

Wir waren am 24.10. und am 01.11.2024 zu zweit im Gambrinus Essen. Beim ersten Mal hatten wir Fleisch vom Wild und beim zweiten Besuch eine Pizza und einen großen Salatteller mit Extrawünschen im Form von gebratenen Pilzen, die auch sofort umgesetzt wurden. Alles hat super geschmeckt. Mit Getränke und Trinkgeld haben wir zwischen 50 und 60 € bezahlt. Es hat sich absolut gelohnt. Wir können es jedem nur empfehlen im Gambrinus zu Essen.

The Gambrinus restaurant is a real insider tip for connoisseurs! As soon as you enter, you are warmly welcomed by the friendly staff, which immediately creates a pleasant atmosphere. Particularly noteworthy are the pizzas and steaks, which are second to none. - simply a pleasure! You immediately notice that the person behind the stove knows his craft and is passionate about what he does. The atmosphere is cozy, and the combination of great food and warm hospitality makes the visit a completely successful experience.

A nice, cozy restaurant, there were two of us and we just managed to get a table by calling ahead. Seems to be in high demand. The food was very tasty (both had the chicken schnitzel breaded with cornflakes and with turnip) Price-performance ratio is right and the biggest plus point was the super friendly and funny service we had!

Unfriendly service. Eating is possible but only inside, while October is still nice and warm and sunny. The catch is that you can drink coffee outside (someone was sitting outside), but you can't eat. ToGo would have been possible, but we shouldn't have sat out that way. Not even with self-service, that was what we asked because the waitress didn't want to go out. Very stuffy inside. You notice that you don't have to rely on satisfied guests here because, from a tourist perspective, there is enough through traffic. I've never experienced anything like that. I can't rate the quality of the food, but since hospitality isn't a priority here, we won't try it. We would rather take our money to a restaurant with better hospitality.

Great restaurant (many people know this now) with Italian food. The waitresses are very friendly and on the ball, your glasses will never be empty. The prices are reasonable. We paid just under 60 for 2x pasta, 1x starter, 2x beer, 2 soft drinks and a dessert. That's ok.

The Waitress wasnt overly friendly, but she was nice enough. I ordered a gnocchi and I can honestly say it was the largest serving of gnocchi I’ve ever had at a restaurant (globally). I normally eat a lot. But I didn’t not get through it. Meal wise - it was ok - but wasn’t amazing. It just lacked a lot of “taste”. The gnocchi was cooked perfectly though.

We were there for dinner without a table reservation and were allowed to stay because a reservation is actually expected in the high season. The service was nice and took the order quickly. It didn't take long for the food to arrive. Food was generally ok and tasty. However, the portions of the dishes varied greatly. The goat cheese came with a hint of lettuce on 2 pieces of baguette. The large salad felt like it was 3x as big and was similarly priced. Pizzas were okay in size, but there was a bit too much cheese on top and the dough was too thick. The bruschetta was great without objection. The vegetarian version had a little too much feta cheese on it so the pizza with the olives and pickled tomatoes was very, very salty. Overall, okay with room for improvement.

The food is always good and the farm is pleasantly quiet. You can have a conversation and there is no car noise or loud music. Service very attentive and very nice.

The atmosphere in the courtyard is very nice. Unfortunately it was ruined by the sloppy service. There was no welcome, just an annoyed eye roll when we asked for a table. I was ashamed of the guests I had invited to the restaurant for being treated in such a derogatory manner by the waitress. The whole time the waitress made us feel her annoyed “zero interest mentality”. Zero cordiality, just snappy answers. I had to constantly apologize to my guests that this is not the normal Saxon standard. At most, the GDR feeling was made up for. It's a shame about the lovely evening.
