We visited while passing through. You can only pay in cash, it is written on the door. The service was very good, friendly smiling waiters. The place is homely, cozy. The food - too salty and too much mustard for me, but every culture has its own dishes and tastes.

Good range of local dishes, freshly prepared, plus local beer and wines. Friendly and helpful service. Would definitely recommend.

2021: Unbelievable, no 2G checks, everyone is sitting close together in the enclosed winter garden. The spread of the coronavirus is being deliberately and consciously promoted here; as a nurse, I'm stunned by so much misanthropy! Edit: I know, of course, that the owner is trying to run the enclosed winter garden as an outdoor dining area. But that's not what it is; it's a small, enclosed space where social distancing isn't possible. I'm also aware that the public order office can't do anything about it. It's about common sense, not about circumventing regulations as successfully as possible. Thanks, I'll watch the ARD report; your lateral thinker-like rhetoric on the subject of media is definitely very revealing. Edit: Thank you for replying again after the update. It's an interesting tactic to delete your old reply and now try to gaslight me and create a completely fictitious situation. It's a shame that after more than three years, you're unable to respond to criticism objectively and with facts. Unfortunately, this only reinforces my previous impression.

We cannot understand why this restaurant has received so many stars so far. There is one star because the staff was very friendly and the spiced meat as a starter was very, very good. We were already looking forward to the next course. However the main courses were a big disappointment. I had a small portion of schnitzel with fries and my husband had goulash with dumplings and red cabbage. My schnitzel was inedible! It gave the impression that it was old. The "schnitzel" was a solid block, not very warm and when you cut it you could see a lot of fat, it was definitely not fresh, we had to pay €15.90 for that. I also tried 2 pieces, but I couldn't eat any more. When my husband ate them: the dumplings tasted instant, without any flavor and like mixed powder. The red cabbage also tasted like it came from a can. The few pieces of goulash were ok and so was the ready-made sauce and that for almost €20. We let the food go back and didn't have to pay for it. I'm sorry to have to write such a review, but we've never experienced anything like it, absolutely disappointing. Addendum to the owner's reaction: I have now given over 30 reviews and at least 90% of them are positive. We've been around more than enough to be able to judge! We almost only cook fresh and know the difference to convenience products very well. But they also “bite” massively when faced with criticism, instead of perhaps accepting it and saying, “I’ll do it better.” The Virgin Colada, which costs €6.90 and is only half a glass full, also needs an improved recipe.

We deliberately chose the restaurant based on the good reviews and were looking forward to rustic food. Unfortunately we were disappointed. The taste was average and too expensive for the small portion we received. The service is not friendly, we didn't feel welcome as a guest. The waitress didn't even look at us when we ordered. The food was simply put down without asking which of us would get which dish. We then had to swap plates. Nevertheless, we gave a tip and there wasn't even a thank you. No farewell either. Cash payment only, which is very intrusively pointed out to you.

We had an impromptu stop here after a walk near Bad Schandau. Cosy little table just before main bar. Food was excellent and tasty and service was friendly. I had the goulash with dumplings which was great.

We ate here twice at Easter. The service was always friendly, the portions were generous and, despite the house being full, the food came quickly. We'll be back.

We only ordered drinks and ice cream. After 40 minutes our ice cream still wasn't there. After we pointed this out to the waitress, we had to wait another 10 or a good 15 minutes. The service was also very rude and we would never have waited so long. Even the bill said it took 50 minutes from the time it was taken until it was brought to the table.

We had to wait 40 minutes for our ice cream order, after we asked where our order was, the ice cream was brought out after another 10 minutes, then the waitress spoke stupidly to us, saying we shouldn't have had to wait that long in our lives. You can't beat it when it comes to rudeness. Sorry not a single star.

The food is of poor quality. Semi-finished products. Mashed potatoes - diluted powder. The salad is not fresh. They brought beef liver to my husband - the onion was burnt, and the liver itself, he made an effort to cut the piece. I don't recommend it. The establishment is not worth standing in line and waiting for a seat.

From your last message, I realized that we have different views on service and communication. I deleted my previous message, as I felt it was unfair to the other staff members at your establishment. We ended up having lunch at a nearby restaurant, and it was wonderful. I wish you the best of luck! I'm sure that each of us has drawn the right conclusions and become better than we were before.

We had dinner here on April 7, 2025. We received a very friendly welcome and were able to choose a table. You can't make a reservation here - so just stop by. However, it is sometimes full at peak times. We once had salad and a Rostbrätl, our children a small schnitzel and dumplings with gravy, with fries. The children really enjoyed it! My Rostbrätl with onions and fried potatoes was great! ...my wife tried it and was a little jealous 😉 - we probably have to come here again. All in all, a recommendation for good food at fair prices and very friendly service!

Everything goes like this. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't really great either. The service was OK so far. The atmosphere is very rustic and the most important thing is the food and unfortunately that wasn't a blast. The dumplings and sauce had the impression that ready-made products were used here. The red cabbage was only lukewarm. Unfortunately it's not enough for a better rating.

Good Saxon cuisine! Friendly staff, delicious food, prices as usual in the tourist area. I really like the large portions and the fact that it is also possible to get a smaller portion (then also cheaper). There are also cocktails, various Saxon wines and a nice selection of desserts 😋. Outside it is covered and there are patio heaters above the tables; light blankets can also be used. Reservations are not possible here and you should definitely be there on time, otherwise you will hardly believe it and have to wait in line. Parking could be difficult though, there is no parking here as far as I've seen. I can only recommend it!

The waitress was quick and super friendly, despite the place being full, always with a smile on her face. The thirst was quickly quenched and the food came reasonably quickly. We were there for lunch, ordered schnitzel, but instead of fried potatoes we took fries. This change cost 2 euros extra per dish, plus another 2 euros extra for a little extra sauce, which was no more than two tablespoons. I find something like that to be a pure rip-off, it doesn't work at all. 8 euros extra for nothing, for absolutely nothing... Food itself was good and ok. We definitely won't be coming back.

A must for anyone who loves good home-style and regional cuisine. The service was great and so was the food. Small cozy restaurant with a very large menu. There are also selected dishes in small portions. The quark balls were very tasty and are enough for two people as a dessert. Cash payment is only possible and is available in many places, so there can be no problems in the end. We'll definitely come back again.

After a short wait in front of the restaurant, we were given a table in the “annex”. The heaters warmed us from above but my legs were ice cold. We enjoyed the food and didn't have to wait long.

When we walked in both hosts kept staring at us and mumbling things under their breath. Finally after several awkward minutes they said we could sit anywhere. The food was great, however, the service continued to disappoint. The waitress with purple hair was incredibly brash and insulting. Do not even dare to ask which dish was better between two options. Pretty weird that you can’t ask the waitress about the food they are offering, but okay. 🤦‍♀️I also watched her sneeze, wipe her nose with her hand and then proceed to wait on customers. The waitress with dark hair put on a better front, but then insulted a customer loudly so the whole main interior room could hear. Honestly, I would not return based on our experience with the waitstaff. *The owner replied and stated we had never been to the restaurant. We did visit the establishment on October 21, 2024 around 15:00 after hiking Phase 4 of the Malerweg. Yes, the waitress did not have 100% purple hair, but it had a purple tint to it in the lighting (not pure blonde). Additionally, for clarification we ordered a Rindergulasch and Schnitzel with a beer and wine. It was an easy walk from our hotel - Hotel Elberesidenz. I would say the owner’s reply sums up the service onsite.

Service is very nice and fun at work. The food was good too. Fresh and decent portion. Too big for my taste. Unfortunately the atmosphere wasn't nice. We were outside on the heated patio. It's very restless, the door is constantly opening and closing. But that's part of it. What was worse was that there was also a radio playing over the loudspeaker system. That was exhausting and anything but relaxing. Maybe you could play simple music, but it's not so superficial.

According to the notice in front of the door, no reservation is possible, you should just sit in a free seat. There are reserved signs on several tables inside. If I had received this explanation in a "normal" tone in your restaurant, everything would have been fine. As I wrote, I found your menu very appealing and the number of guests proves you right. My inquiry about the reservation signs to your staff was made in a friendly and calm tone, which can be confirmed by my companion and other guests. The answer from your service person not only irritated me and us, but also other guests. I don't want to "tear up" your restaurant but rather share my experiences. Due to the situation described, I cannot rate your dishes.

The spark didn't fly. There was no comfort. When we came in the waitress was already complaining loudly. The dishes were without any complaints, good home-style, delicious. But unfortunately nothing special. All in all, I can recommend the restaurant.

Excellent food with honest, home-style cooking. We felt very comfortable and enjoyed trout and schnitzel. It was really tasty and the price-performance ratio was very good. The service ladies were also very good, fast, tough and friendly, even though the restaurant was full and there was a long line in front of the door. Luckily you don't need a reservation, otherwise we wouldn't have had a chance as spontaneous guests. Gladly again at any time!😊 PS: The Arizona holiday home in Bad Schandau, run by the same owner, is also highly recommended! 😉

I would give everything a 5+ plus. The service was super friendly and nice. We ordered the liver and were surprised at the amount on the plate, I have to say... the price-performance ratio is totally right. The mashed potatoes were freshly prepared and the liver was excellent. We'll definitely come back. Keep it up

Where do you start here? I was really looking forward to a meal and have rarely been so disappointed 😞. Service wasn't particularly nice, stressed and unfriendly, after I asked what kind of tea ☕️ I got the answer, it's on the menu. It was not indicated in advance that certain food was out. Goulash: Red cabbage tasted more like it came from a jar without any spice. Rolulade had no taste, meat was dry. And last but not least, the food wasn't even lukewarm. Sauce is like a ready-made sauce and all for 20.00 euros. I define self-cooked differently. And in this day and age, no card payment is possible & this in a tourist city is something we can't & don't want to understand. The lady who served us asked how the food tasted, unfortunately I had to say no, but she wasn't interested. Although I'm just a tourist, I won't recommend this gourmet corner.

I'll say it right up front. I didn't eat at the restaurant, so my review doesn't relate to the food or service, but the pictures of it looked good. But: I can neither reserve nor pay by card. In such a tourist location, that's absurd for me. There is also a menu on the website completely without prices. Just remember to bring enough cash with you, because there's no other way. I don't know why I should go, I would only go in if I was standing right in front of it to check if I had enough cash in my pocket for 4 people. Strange business model. Addendum: I upgraded the review because the first comment was the only thing that made sense. It's probably really not appropriate to give 2 stars and that's why I correct myself. Although I have pointed out what I am evaluating, which many do not. I am capable of so much self-reflection. Don't think it's the same for you. But maybe it's also due to the heat. I am fully aware that card payments incur additional fees. But I can also eat in Dresden, Leipzig and Munich for the price. However, cash isn't necessarily necessary there; it's called service and not militant. Maybe it hasn't progressed that far yet. Perhaps gas stations and supermarkets should also avoid card payments in the future. It would be nice to stand in line again and watch everyone rummage through their wallets for the good old marks. You don't feel so militant anymore. And selling things as good just because others do them worse doesn't necessarily make your own good. Addendum 2: I don't actually write that much, but this time anyway because I think it's good that people read it carefully and think about it, which didn't seem like that to me when I first posted it. That's why I use it to explain my perspective as a customer and the thoughts behind it. We are traveling with 4 people, so a meal costs on average around 100, - sometimes more. If we were day tourists and took the ship from Dresden for a short time, I would have packed 300 in cash, everything would be fine. But we were there for several days. Means lunch, entry to various sights, dinner, maybe an ice cream in between. I don't like driving around with 1000 in cash or going to the bank every day to get cash for the day. I have a card for exactly that. And when I'm standing there in the evening and still have a hundred euros and thinking about where we're going to eat, it would help me if the menu also showed prices. To see if the rest is enough or not. Also because I have to look at the price and the advice to bring enough cash doesn't really help. I like to know what to expect beforehand, without having to sit in the restaurant and calculate whether I have enough cash for dessert or not. And a “good value for money” review is very subjective. That's my background and it wasn't just the cash payment that bothered me, but the combination of everything. And I have to say, I come from Saxony and I know Saxon Switzerland and unfortunately I'm not there as often as I would like. But I had the feeling that time stood still in some places. And of course everyone can decide whether it is good for them or not. And I can eat a main course in Munich for 17-20 euros without any problems. Not at Marienplatz, of course. Lease and employees are certainly another topic. But it definitely got me thinking about how and why to review and what may or may not be appropriate. Well, I probably wrote way too much, but that was something that was close to my heart.

Terrible service, no one has ever treated me so badly in a restaurant.

We were there on a Monday and it was packed. That was probably because of the food, which was really good and the prices were justified. We had a schnitzel, which was a bit thick for my taste but tasted good and was clearly freshly prepared. The goulash with dumplings was very tasty, even if the meat was still a bit firm. Unfortunately, we were greeted quite rudely when we were seated and were almost thrown out when we sat down at a table that still had a glass on it. At the entrance it says that you can sit yourself at “clean” tables, but it was very full, we were happy to have found a table and it was only one glass. The waitress was pretty angry about it but we were allowed to stay seated after she explained to us in detail. Pretty embarrassing for everyone involved. As the evening progressed, the mood improved again. Your colleague was very nice throughout! The fact that you can only pay in cash is annoying, but it is communicated twice and three times, so you can be prepared for that. In principle you can recommend it as a good home-style restaurant!

I don't usually give one star because it's usually given out of spite for a bad experience, which is overall overrated for the overall experience. But the food here was the worst I've had in years. The seasoned meat was extremely bad in taste, fried potatoes were partly raw and partly burnt, vinegar was added to the carrot salad (why do you put vinegar in a carrot salad? That speaks to me that it is not freshly cooked here). And our cocktails were served warm and in juice glasses. Thank you for nothing, but this only targets tourists who won't come back.

A very atmospheric place. Very nice service. Unfortunately, the food was home-made, and considering the prices we expected something better. Viennese schbycel was an ordinary thick pork chop. A dish with beef and raisins - it should have multi-layered flavors, and the raisins gave sourness instead of sweetness. No possibility to pay by card

Please note that no card payment is possible! This is clearly stated at the entrance and in the menu. Traditional dishes such as goulash, roulade or schnitzel are served here. The food comes quickly. We liked it, there should have been one more dumpling on our plate to fill us up. 😉 In terms of price, it was a little more expensive than the competition. The ambience was okay, a bit noisy due to the main street. We were satisfied with the visit and would come again.

Homemade food is advertised, so it could take longer. We had the Cordon Bleu once and the Wiener Schnitzel once. But it also went past that. The schnitzel is a run-of-the-mill frozen schnitzel with frozen peas and croquettes. The croquettes weren't even cooked through. It was the same with the Cordon Bleu, croquettes weren't cooked through, no sauces, just ketchup and mayo, although the mayo was also sour. The ambience was actually quite nice, but unfortunately the food wasn't recommended!

It's a shame......Unfortunately we can only confirm the positive reviews to a limited extent. It is advertised that everything is freshly prepared. My wife and I had ordered Wiener Schnitzel, the schnitzel... well it was ok, but unfortunately only a little better than in a snack bar. The vegetables... the peas... something like that doesn't work, no taste . .....I was of the opinion that this came straight from the freezer bag, just warmed up briefly and then carelessly put on the plate with it, fries...they were ok so far...just put them next to it and schnitzel slapped on top as a garnish there was frozen herb butter. Well, it's more of a snack bar than a gourmet snack...and the ambience is in need of renovation The service to the guests...not to us...wasn't very friendly either... Last but not least, dear guests...be sure to read the first two pages of the menu...which we haven't read yet, even abroad like Spain France etc. we are responsible for packing the uneaten food...of course only when taken away ...a surcharge of 1 euro will be charged. Something like that is incomprehensible to us. But well, everyone should run their business as they want...we can't recommend the restaurant.

Very poor welcome, no effort to speak a minimum of English, the kitchen is supposed to close at 8:15 p.m. but at 7:50 p.m. they refuse to take you, and what's more, only cash is accepted.

Just good food. Like mother's or grandma's (for the younger ones), decent portions for a fair price. If you don't like frills (such as roasted Jerusalem artichokes with quince jelly) you've come to the right place. Soljanka is Soljanka and Königsberger Klopse is served with potatoes and caper sauce PUNKT.

The Königsberger Klopse taste like it used to be at Mom's! I can highly recommend it. The interior is also very cozy and the staff is incredibly nice and accommodating.

The food was ok. The waitresses, however, were unwelcome, snippy and uninterested in their guests. For heaven's sake they spoke to her...I worked in service myself. Only cash is accepted. You can more than save yourself there. Uninspired, rude and bland. We as Saxons were ashamed of our Norwegian guests; hospitability is different.

The food was delicious. When it comes to staff, the older of the two employees got ripped off. The other was like the weather, extremely rude one moment, then okay after that. But not any more. We sat under the "annex", which had more of the charm of a snack bar.

Addendum regarding the comment from the owner of the "restaurant": The car was parked right next to her overpriced snack bar on the path that leads to the thermal baths and took the purchases to HER STORE!!! worn, on the side where the kitchen is and YOUR STAFF!!! brought in the cheap products. If you can't stand it and are embarrassed about offering poor quality food, then you probably shouldn't do it, unless the good & cheap products taste much better than what you can prepare. Besides, why should the supposedly "older neighbors" need crates of white Gut&Günstig canned food that you happen to offer in their snack bar?! It's disgusting how you can lie like that and not take responsibility for a clearly fraudulent business model! Looking for a place to stop, we happened to walk along the side entrance when new groceries were being delivered and it's all made from Gut&Günstig products! We were shocked when we saw the prices for the canned food afterwards! On top of that, conspiracy ideologies were represented and spread here during the Corona period!
