Schlemmer-Eck in Bad Schandau

We hiked from Königstein to Bad Schandau and visited a few sights...we then stopped at the Schlemmer Eck and received a warm welcome...the food is freshly prepared and simply delicious...I can highly recommend it...very friendly service...clean ambiance...restrooms clean and stocked with some feminine hygiene products...

An absolute disgrace. Starting with the still, room-temperature beer (from the tap), which didn't improve after being returned, the child was given frozen fish sticks, my wife got a burnt farmer's breakfast that didn't deserve the name, and the bratwurst was awful, to say the least. The sauerkraut was just warmed from a jar. My wife's cocktail was from a wholesaler and a ready-mixed drink, which, along with the warm, still beer, was also absolutely disgraceful. To then bill the whole thing with a Kiba and a water for almost 65 was truly beyond outrageous.

The worst meal in a long time! Königsberger Klopse (meatballs) with horseradish sauce, potatoes, and cauliflower. The only edible thing was the potatoes. The sauce had no flavor, and with the cauliflower, it was pure mush! Thank goodness I only had a small portion and could only eat half. My companion's meal was no different. This has absolutely nothing to do with Saxon home cooking!

This meal was truly magnificent. They serve delicious, typical Saxon dishes. All three main courses at our table were filling and very flavorful. We highly recommend the roasted pork with fried potatoes. The dessert was also delicious! The beer is fresh and cold. If you're looking for something to fill your stomach and enjoy a drink in Bad Schandau, I highly recommend this place! Shoutout to the chef, you truly did a magic trick ❤️

Nice restaurant. Few vegetarian options, but we had the baked Camembert, and it was delicious. The food is inexpensive (cash only), and the service was attentive and friendly. Highly recommended for a simply good meal.

I don't recommend this place at all. The amount of food isn't enough to satisfy a normal appetite, even though the price is extremely high. The steak wasn't a steak, but a completely ordinary meatball that didn't even remotely resemble a steak. The salad was simply thoughtlessly mixed vegetables that weren't tasty in any combination (it might have tasted good with dressing or sauce, but it didn't have any). The food, even in its present state, tasted mediocre to bad. The service was awful. If a table hasn't been cleared yet, you still have to stand unnecessarily in front of it and aren't even allowed to sit down, even though the restaurant is full. The waiters took a long time to bring the food because they apparently forgot who ordered it and had to ask others first. I don't know if the waiters are just guessing what the table ordered, but the bill showed more than I had ordered. If I hadn't checked, I would have paid considerably more without even ordering it. A new receipt isn't created, but rather written in a random place without crossing out the nonexistent orders or the incorrect amount. I strongly advise avoiding this place; you'll only be disappointed, especially for the price you pay. EDIT TO THE REPLY TO MY REVIEW: It was explicitly stated in parentheses when describing a beefsteak that it was a steak made from beef, and there was absolutely no mention of a meatball. I have no idea how it's stated on the website, but that's how it was stated on the premises. As a consumer, I don't really care how expensive meat is these days. If it says it's made from beef, it should be made from pure beef. It would be very unpleasant for people with intolerances if something like that were omitted. The price is absolutely unreasonable, because for the same price, I actually ate a high-quality steak, and at a very good restaurant. It can't be right that a mini portion with the wrong dish costs almost €20. That's completely disproportionate and excessive. This place is overpriced due to its location and doesn't deserve the crowds. Especially since many leave feeling very unsatisfied with their food. I've noticed this, and it's unfair to advertise it like this here. The fact that someone actually sat down and tried to discuss my honest answer with me is sad. How run-down must this place be? 😂. I won't comment further than to say that my menu was exactly the same as it was on the spot. I don't really want to be rude, but if there's an employee who really enjoys responding to all the bad reviews and tries to be rude, that doesn't bode well for the place, does it? Feel free to read other responses to bad reviews, or it's good to read the others that aren't related but address the same issues. I've refuted every argument, but unfortunately, I lack proof for the latter. I just wanted to have a peaceful vacation, and therefore won't show up anywhere. I'm not taking the time for that; I'm staying away from the place, just like others should. P.S. It's pretty cheeky of you to combine two reviews here for no reason. That shouldn't concern you, and I'm glad to have nothing more to do with it. I won't be responding to any further comments; it's nice of you to waste your time on this instead of relaxing.

We were there for lunch today. (2 adults + 2 children) Very, very tasty food!! Staff extremely friendly! Some guests just need to take more time and not ask the staff after 20 minutes why their food isn't ready yet! If you want something fresh and delicious, you just have to wait a while!! The food was good. Everything is cooked fresh here. That means you have to wait for your food. We had pork knuckle – the rind wasn't as crispy, more flaky. But that's a matter of taste. Camembert with fries – that was very good. And two goulash with dumplings and red cabbage – the red cabbage was sour, which wasn't quite to our liking. The desserts were absolutely delicious; you absolutely have to order and eat them! The service was excellent. The two waitresses served the place alone, and they did a very good job. The ambiance was just as you'd expect. A gourmet corner.

Apart from the really rather clueless staff, who on several occasions didn't understand which dishes/drinks belonged at which table and on whose bill, I can't recommend the food there. The prices are exorbitant for the amount served and the taste was rather disappointing. The goulash tasted good but only consisted of 5 pieces of meat. The two dumplings that came with it were very small in proportion to the sauce. One of the dumplings tasted very spicy, as if there was chili or black pepper in the dumpling mixture. The red cabbage looked at first glance to be laboriously prepared but unfortunately tasted very bitter and was more reminiscent of sauerkraut. The drinks are quite good, although it would be nice to be able to order a larger quantity than 0.2l. The ambience was okay. In summary, I wouldn't recommend the place as it is very reminiscent of a classic tourist rip-off.

Here you can enjoy traditional and regional German dishes. I had a delicious meal here and was served quickly despite the crowd. The staff was super friendly.

The Schlemmer-Eck is truly a cozy little corner. Seating reservations aren't accepted here. If a table is available, just sit down. It would also be nice if new guests would wait until the table is cleared and cleaned. The two ladies are absolutely fantastic. They're fast and always friendly. They serve good beer and other drinks. The food is good, home-style cooking, which you don't often find. We've always enjoyed it very much. We highly recommend it.

Very delicious food, very unfriendly staff See conclusion below. After a long day of hiking, we stopped by Schlemmer-Eck. Two tables just became available – our preferred spot would have been in the space between. One of the two servers had just finished wiping down the first table (not our favorite), approached us, and immediately assigned us that spot. When we politely asked if we could sit at the other table instead, she responded, after a brief, frantic glance around, with a curt and unfriendly refusal – without explanation. We ordered food and drinks. Other couples arrived, apparently ignoring the "Please take your own seat" sign, and asked the waitress for a free table. She simply moved on and called back, annoyed, "If it's free, you can sit!" An audible conversation about this very topic ensued behind the counter – apparently, they're very annoyed that some guests overlook the sign. Our drinks arrived promptly – which was a positive. As another dish was brought past the table, I noticed that my meal included a side dish I hadn't specified when ordering. I approached the server and expressed my preference. The response: "Honey, that's a bit late, you should have mentioned that earlier. But dumplings usually come with this dish." While this may have been correct in substance, the tone was unnecessarily condescending. Furthermore, in my opinion, the server should have actively asked for the side dish when ordering. We ended up sitting at the table with our wallets out. Both servers walked past us several times, their eyes directly on the wallets. The person at the next table (also with wallets in hand) responded in a friendly and attentive manner: "I see, the bill's already printed!" I thought: Great, then we're next. Unfortunately, I was wrong. Again, we were ignored until I finally took action myself. Only then did we receive our bill – albeit from the other server. Conclusion: Pros: - No reservation necessary – with a bit of luck or a short wait, you'll get a table. - The food is excellent – absolutely top-notch in terms of taste! Cons: - Service staff are very unfriendly, unappealing, and at times condescending. - Gossiping about guests and a lack of attention significantly spoil the overall experience. Since we're here on vacation and looking forward to a relaxed atmosphere, we unfortunately won't be returning due to our negative service experience. It's a real shame – the food would have definitely won us over.

Unfortunately, the value for money here is completely out of the question. An average salad plate for €14! A small portion of pasta with pieces of ham and a few dollops of tomato paste (sadly, it wasn't sauce at all) for €15! A small bag of ketchup for 50 cents, each served individually... every little variation is charged extra or isn't even possible. The bratwurst with mashed potatoes and sauerkraut dish was quite good. The staff was stressed; there wasn't a smile or a friendly word to be had. Unfortunately, the visit was quite disappointing. What a shame.

Disrespect and insolence – never again! I sincerely hope I never have to return to this place again. I urgently call on the management of the Schlemmereck restaurant in Bad Schandau to take action against the staff – especially the waitresses, who completely lack tact and respect for the guests. I haven't experienced such insolent and condescending behavior in a long time. The first five minutes in this restaurant were enough to completely ruin the mood and make us flee. After a wonderful day at the Bastei, my husband, our three-year-old son, and I wanted to end the evening with a quiet dinner at the Schlemmereck. We sat down at a table – no one came to us. It was busy, and the staff seemed overwhelmed. My husband therefore went to the counter to ask for a menu, as we – and especially our child – were hungry and didn't want to wait forever. But one of the waitresses greeted him with an annoyed expression and rudely told him to sit down and wait, pointing out that the menu would be brought to our tables in the restaurant. A whole stack of menus lay right in front of her on the counter. It would have cost her nothing to simply hand us one. Our request was friendly and understandable – but the reaction was completely inappropriate. While we were waiting at our table for the menu, my son, under my supervision, picked up an LED candle from the table and examined it. He didn't play with it wildly, was careful, and didn't break anything. When the menu was finally brought, the waitress's first action was to immediately snatch the candle from my child's hand, commenting that it was decoration, not a toy. I wonder: If an adult had looked at the candle the same way, would they have reacted the same way? My child was visibly frightened, and I politely pointed out to the waitress that it would have been more appropriate to address us parents rather than scare a child. Her reaction: she pointedly turned away and walked away without a word. At that point, it was clear to us – we didn't want to stay any longer in such a "hospitable" establishment. We left the restaurant hungry, with a crying child in our arms, and a completely devastated mood. But that wasn't the end of it. The climax came later, when we happened to be walking through the restaurant's backyard some time later. Another waitress was standing there smoking, and she obviously didn't mind calling after us at that moment: "You can't play with our decorations!" – right behind my back and in my child's face. I turned around and asked what that was all about. Her response: "I'm talking to the child." I was stunned. This behavior is completely unacceptable, disrespectful, and degrading – and all for no reason at all. Such employees have no place in the restaurant industry. An absolute disappointment.

How can a restaurant still not accept card payments in 2025? The card was placed on the table, and the first page was marked in large letters: cash only, NO card payments. I left immediately. The atmosphere and the grumpy looks from the staff didn't help either...

When you're greeted with a list of prohibited items at the entrance, you're immediately telling potential guests that they're not welcome. ‼️ But no problem, not far away, in a small alley, you'll find a traditional restaurant, a Chinese restaurant, and an ice cream parlor. Yesterday, four of us, our grandchildren, and our dog, had a delicious meal. We received very friendly and welcoming service. Today we went again, and it was just as delicious and very pleasant. Thank you very much 😊 We sat inside both times. We will be back 😊

Actually, not so. We had ordered a beef roulade for just under €22. It arrived. The presentation of the food was sloppy and looked somewhat like ready-made food, okay, it might still be tasty. I love red cabbage and started to taste it; it was sour. Next came the dumplings, which had no real flavor and weren't even cooked properly. The roulade was tender and opened easily. But it also had hardly any flavor, which is a shame. Not to mention the sauce; there was far too little and it had no flavor either. The service could have been better. All in all, this isn't a recommendation for a good Saxon restaurant.

2021: Unbelievable, no 2G checks, everyone is sitting close together in the enclosed winter garden. The spread of the coronavirus is being deliberately and consciously promoted here; as a nurse, I'm stunned by so much misanthropy! Edit: I know, of course, that the owner is trying to run the enclosed winter garden as an outdoor dining area. But that's not what it is; it's a small, enclosed space where social distancing isn't possible. I'm also aware that the public order office can't do anything about it. It's about common sense, not about circumventing regulations as successfully as possible. Always, great, original and everything fits

We cannot understand why this restaurant has received so many stars so far. There is one star because the staff was very friendly and the spiced meat as a starter was very, very good. We were already looking forward to the next course. However the main courses were a big disappointment. I had a small portion of schnitzel with fries and my husband had goulash with dumplings and red cabbage. My schnitzel was inedible! It gave the impression that it was old. The "schnitzel" was a solid block, not very warm and when you cut it you could see a lot of fat, it was definitely not fresh, we had to pay €15.90 for that. I also tried 2 pieces, but I couldn't eat any more. When my husband ate them: the dumplings tasted instant, without any flavor and like mixed powder. The red cabbage also tasted like it came from a can. The few pieces of goulash were ok and so was the ready-made sauce and that for almost €20. We let the food go back and didn't have to pay for it. I'm sorry to have to write such a review, but we've never experienced anything like it, absolutely disappointing. Addendum to the owner's reaction: I have now given over 30 reviews and at least 90% of them are positive. We've been around more than enough to be able to judge! We almost only cook fresh and know the difference to convenience products very well. But they also “bite” massively when faced with criticism, instead of perhaps accepting it and saying, “I’ll do it better.” The Virgin Colada, which costs €6.90 and is only half a glass full, also needs an improved recipe.

We deliberately chose the restaurant based on the good reviews and were looking forward to rustic food. Unfortunately we were disappointed. The taste was average and too expensive for the small portion we received. The service is not friendly, we didn't feel welcome as a guest. The waitress didn't even look at us when we ordered. The food was simply put down without asking which of us would get which dish. We then had to swap plates. Nevertheless, we gave a tip and there wasn't even a thank you. No farewell either. Cash payment only, which is very intrusively pointed out to you.

We had an impromptu stop here after a walk near Bad Schandau. Cosy little table just before main bar. Food was excellent and tasty and service was friendly. I had the goulash with dumplings which was great.

We had to wait 40 minutes for our ice cream order, after we asked where our order was, the ice cream was brought out after another 10 minutes, then the waitress spoke stupidly to us, saying we shouldn't have had to wait that long in our lives. You can't beat it when it comes to rudeness. Sorry not a single star.

We only ordered drinks and ice cream. After 40 minutes our ice cream still wasn't there. After we pointed this out to the waitress, we had to wait another 10 or a good 15 minutes. The service was also very rude and we would never have waited so long. Even the bill said it took 50 minutes from the time it was taken until it was brought to the table.

The food is of poor quality. Semi-finished products. Mashed potatoes - diluted powder. The salad is not fresh. They brought beef liver to my husband - the onion was burnt, and the liver itself, he made an effort to cut the piece. I don't recommend it. The establishment is not worth standing in line and waiting for a seat.

We had dinner here on April 7, 2025. We received a very friendly welcome and were able to choose a table. You can't make a reservation here - so just stop by. However, it is sometimes full at peak times. We once had salad and a Rostbrätl, our children a small schnitzel and dumplings with gravy, with fries. The children really enjoyed it! My Rostbrätl with onions and fried potatoes was great! ...my wife tried it and was a little jealous 😉 - we probably have to come here again. All in all, a recommendation for good food at fair prices and very friendly service!

Everything goes like this. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't really great either. The service was OK so far. The atmosphere is very rustic and the most important thing is the food and unfortunately that wasn't a blast. The dumplings and sauce had the impression that ready-made products were used here. The red cabbage was only lukewarm. Unfortunately it's not enough for a better rating.

Good Saxon cuisine! Friendly staff, delicious food, prices as usual in the tourist area. I really like the large portions and the fact that it is also possible to get a smaller portion (then also cheaper). There are also cocktails, various Saxon wines and a nice selection of desserts 😋. Outside it is covered and there are patio heaters above the tables; light blankets can also be used. Reservations are not possible here and you should definitely be there on time, otherwise you will hardly believe it and have to wait in line. Parking could be difficult though, there is no parking here as far as I've seen. I can only recommend it!

Very good food, great service. Unfortunately there are only a few tables, so there is sometimes a waiting time. But it's worth it!

The waitress was quick and super friendly, despite the place being full, always with a smile on her face. The thirst was quickly quenched and the food came reasonably quickly. All 4 dishes were really delicious German home cooking. Attractively garnished, fresh and to the point. Worth the price. Cash only!

We were there for lunch, ordered schnitzel, but instead of fried potatoes we took fries. This change cost 2 euros extra per dish, plus another 2 euros extra for a little extra sauce, which was no more than two tablespoons. I find something like that to be a pure rip-off, it doesn't work at all. 8 euros extra for nothing, for absolutely nothing... Food itself was good and ok. We definitely won't be coming back.

A must for anyone who loves good home-style and regional cuisine. The service was great and so was the food. Small cozy restaurant with a very large menu. There are also selected dishes in small portions. The quark balls were very tasty and are enough for two people as a dessert. Cash payment is only possible and is available in many places, so there can be no problems in the end. We'll definitely come back again.

After a short wait in front of the restaurant, we were given a table in the “annex”. The heaters warmed us from above but my legs were ice cold. We enjoyed the food and didn't have to wait long.

When we walked in both hosts kept staring at us and mumbling things under their breath. Finally after several awkward minutes they said we could sit anywhere. The food was great, however, the service continued to disappoint. The waitress with purple hair was incredibly brash and insulting. Do not even dare to ask which dish was better between two options. Pretty weird that you can’t ask the waitress about the food they are offering, but okay. 🤦‍♀️I also watched her sneeze, wipe her nose with her hand and then proceed to wait on customers. The waitress with dark hair put on a better front, but then insulted a customer loudly so the whole main interior room could hear. Honestly, I would not return based on our experience with the waitstaff. *The owner replied and stated we had never been to the restaurant. We did visit the establishment on October 21, 2024 around 15:00 after hiking Phase 4 of the Malerweg. Yes, the waitress did not have 100% purple hair, but it had a purple tint to it in the lighting (not pure blonde). Additionally, for clarification we ordered a Rindergulasch and Schnitzel with a beer and wine. It was an easy walk from our hotel - Hotel Elberesidenz. I would say the owner’s reply sums up the service onsite.

Service is very nice and fun at work. The food was good too. Fresh and decent portion. Too big for my taste. Unfortunately the atmosphere wasn't nice. We were outside on the heated patio. It's very restless, the door is constantly opening and closing. But that's part of it. What was worse was that there was also a radio playing over the loudspeaker system. That was exhausting and anything but relaxing. Maybe you could play simple music, but it's not so superficial.

According to the notice in front of the door, no reservation is possible, you should just sit in a free seat. There are reserved signs on several tables inside. When I asked the waitress there was only a curt answer. We would have liked to try the appealing menu Addition: Thank you for your detailed answer. Your statement sounds coherent and reasonable. If I had received this explanation in a "normal" tone in your restaurant, everything would have been fine. As I wrote, I found your menu very appealing and the number of guests proves you right. However, I don't see why I, as a paying guest, should be approached in the tone described. My inquiry about the reservation signs to your staff was made in a friendly and calm tone, which can be confirmed by my companion and other guests. The answer from your service person not only irritated me and us, but also other guests. I don't want to "tear up" your restaurant but rather share my experiences. Due to the situation described, I cannot rate your dishes.

The spark didn't fly. There was no comfort. When we came in the waitress was already complaining loudly. The dishes were without any complaints, good home-style, delicious. But unfortunately nothing special. All in all, I can recommend the restaurant.

All dishes were served quickly and at the table. Very friendly despite many guests. Had the Müllerin trout, cooked to perfection, very well seasoned and big enough for the hunger.

Excellent food with honest, home-style cooking. We felt very comfortable and enjoyed trout and schnitzel. It was really tasty and the price-performance ratio was very good. The service ladies were also very good, fast, tough and friendly, even though the restaurant was full and there was a long line in front of the door. Luckily you don't need a reservation, otherwise we wouldn't have had a chance as spontaneous guests. Gladly again at any time!😊 PS: The Arizona holiday home in Bad Schandau, run by the same owner, is also highly recommended! 😉

I would give everything a 5+ plus. The service was super friendly and nice. We ordered the liver and were surprised at the amount on the plate, I have to say... the price-performance ratio is totally right. The mashed potatoes were freshly prepared and the liver was excellent. We'll definitely come back. Keep it up

Where do you start here? I was really looking forward to a meal and have rarely been so disappointed 😞. Service wasn't particularly nice, stressed and unfriendly, after I asked what kind of tea ☕️ I got the answer, it's on the menu. It was not indicated in advance that certain food was out. Goulash: Red cabbage tasted more like it came from a jar without any spice. Rolulade had no taste, meat was dry. And last but not least, the food wasn't even lukewarm. Sauce is like a ready-made sauce and all for 20.00 euros. I define self-cooked differently. And in this day and age, no card payment is possible & this in a tourist city is something we can't & don't want to understand. The lady who served us asked how the food tasted, unfortunately I had to say no, but she wasn't interested. Although I'm just a tourist, I won't recommend this gourmet corner.
