Felsbaude Lilienstein in Bad Schandau

We only had a drink. The restaurant is cozy and warm. The service is super fast and extremely friendly. The mulled wine is delicious... and really hot 🔥

Using the restroom as a non-guest: 2 euros!!! I haven't even experienced this at an alpine hut above 2000 meters. Water is scarce there, too, and products have to be transported by cable or on foot. I see no justification for this. Organizing using the restroom like this is completely antisocial. Everyone knows how it feels when you have to go. Especially as a woman on certain days.

Excellent potato pancakes, friendly service, and a beautiful walk there—the Felsbaude is perfect for a relaxing family outing! 🤭

The service was quite nice, but also a bit brisk. The food was tasty, but far too little for the excessively high price.

We only had cake, coffee, and hot chocolate. The cake was absolutely delicious. Hot chocolate with milk, not water. The service was super friendly and humorous. This fits the answers to the guests' FAQs (see the board at the entrance). The history of the restaurant is described on the menu in an informative and equally humorous way. We were surprised by the variety of dishes and were very happy to find the unexpected restaurant up there. The opening hours seem strange at first. But if you think about it, you'll realize how busy the crowds are, and given the effort involved up there, other opening hours are still worthwhile.

Brilliant, top-notch service, top-notch food. And I can't understand some of the negative comments. One should be grateful for being served at all in such a difficult-to-reach place like this. And, as we all know, tastes differ. We were extremely satisfied :)

Staff was super friendly and we had a good time until we had to pay. We didn't realise there was a minimum of 25 Euro for card payments. This is illegal in Germany and should be reported (wettbewerbszentrale.de, Bank or call the police), which I mentioned to her. We don't carry cash with us. We were talked into paying an additional ~2,50 Euro to offset the transaction fees. The explanation was that they have "very old contracts" with high transaction fees. That's not the customers problem. Again, friendly staff which was also the only reason I didn't escalate this further. Next time the police should be called to settle it.

Lovely place. Just asked the service I could throw away some bottles into their recycling and after a plesant exchange of remarks, the service actually physically attacked me. 100% would recommend to anyone looking to throw hands after a lovely hike ❤️

Once you've reached the top of the Lilienstein, you'll probably want something cool to drink. The Felsbaude Lilienstein provides the answer. At the entrance, there's a large sign saying "You will be seated," which I find a shame, because I like to decide where and with whom I sit at a table... Unfortunately, the outdoor seating doesn't offer a great view, but there are a few lounge chairs around the corner (which is also part of the Felsbaude) with a nice view. They cost extra, I think 1 euro per chair, but it's worth it. The price and service were fine.

There were eleven of us in a group. We were seated quickly. Our orders were also taken quickly, and the drinks were served very quickly. Unfortunately, that's the only positive thing to report. (1 star) The cup of coffee (€5!!) was lukewarm. The service was rude and cheeky. After less than 30 minutes, we were asked if we wanted anything else, otherwise she would "make Casablanca." Some of us still had half-full glasses on the table. I've never experienced such an unfriendly eviction, and that after less than 30 minutes. There were no guests waiting for a free table. With such an announcement, none of us felt like eating anything. Especially with the absolutely exorbitant prices! If you don't eat anything in the restaurant, you have to pay a €2 (!!) restroom fee. The men's restroom stank. There were no towels for drying off in either the women's or men's areas. Dear visitors to Lilienstein, please bring your own provisions. You can safely do without this service.

After a relaxing climb up the Lilienstein, we settled down for a refreshing break at the Felsbaude. Coffee, delicious poppy seed cake, and Kiba (a traditional German snack) were brought by the very friendly service team. Thank you for the friendly chat and the 5 cents for the coining machine. The coffee was okay. The cake was okay. Nothing was lacking, but nothing to rave about. The problem lies elsewhere. Firstly, the absurd prices. A "beautiful" exploitation of the local monopoly and the lack of competition. But what's even worse is the difficulty customers face when making payments. It's the 21st century, 2025, and here we are, pointless arguments with the staff, whether it's a credit or debit card, VISA or MasterCard. The owner should wake up. Revolut isn't an exotic payment method, it's a legitimately registered bank.

The climb was absolutely worth it! We received a very warm welcome from Jana and immediately felt at home. Everyone is super sweet, friendly, and attentive. The atmosphere is wonderful, and the food is truly delicious. Overall, a beautiful place with a fantastic view – highly recommended!😊

There's another area with loungers that offers a lovely view and even a small pool to cool off in. We really enjoyed it! We'd love to come back.

It's great in principle that there's a restaurant within the national park. Unfortunately, I can't give a review of the food, as the waitress was irritated and turned us away. I also thought it was a shame that you're greeted at the entrance with a sign saying, "Just passing through? Restrooms free for guests only. If you want to use the restroom, please put €2 on the counter, thank you!" I understand the rationale, but it's simply not hospitable right at the entrance. Especially since it's a basic need. In Austria, we've been greeted warmly at every hut so far, and even using the restroom was always OK. Maybe that's why we were a bit annoyed. When we asked if we could sit inside because there was no more room, they just said, "No, we can't do that!" and the waitress disappeared. So we left, a bit annoyed... What a shame. The ambiance itself was quite nice, but first there was a sign saying only guests are allowed to use the restroom, then there was no way to be a guest, but there were more signs saying "Pack your sandwich...We'll be grateful" and then "We ask for a positive review." Fewer signs like that and more hospitality would be better. ♡

Rude, uncoordinated, overwhelmed, impudent

We would have loved to have something to eat, but unfortunately, at 5 p.m. on a sunny summer day (Saturday), it was apparently already closed, and everything was locked. We weren't the only ones who left hungry and thirsty... Apparently, they don't want to make any money there.

It was great, I had a nice seat and recovered from the climb. We had fun with the super friendly service.

After climbing the Lilienstein, we stopped by the Felsbaude to relax. We were seated at a table where two guests were already seated. A bit confused, as there were still many free tables. But everything was fine; we had a very pleasant conversation with the new guests. New guests arrived after our neighbors had finished. The new ones were also very chatty. The currywurst and its very good sauce were excellent. The owner was a very funny person, and it was easy to chat with her. Her organizational skills were a plus. Many greetings from Kiel. Perhaps she remembers us. We were guests at the Felsbaude on August 9th. Best, Thomas.

After the strenuous northward climb, you'll be treated to a refreshing drink, friendly service, and a clean restroom. 😅 The food is also very good. 👍🏻

It closes at 5pm. We missed it by 20min. We where not sure how lomg this hike would take. Next time we will head up earlier to make sure we can enjoy a cold Beer and some good Food.

Despite the rain, we decided to climb the Lilienstein. Luckily, when we reached the top, the Felsbaude (rock hut) was open. (You can call the parking lot to find out if it's open. 😉) We were served very well. We lingered a bit longer and had some very pleasant conversations about work and the journey of food. We were rewarded and were able to descend in the dry. We wish the team lots of strength and perseverance.

We're on vacation in Bad Schandau and have visited many great places with nice people during this time. Today, on the last day of our vacation, the three of us hiked up the Lilienstein, which is truly amazing. The Felsbaude (rock hut) looked nice, and we fancied a cold Coke. The price is quite normal and reasonable. Running a business in this location certainly requires more effort than in other places. But then we came to the reason for this review: The Coke we ordered was completely still and warm. We immediately approached the friendly young lady who served us and complained about the Coke. She readily told us that the problem had been going on for three weeks and that many guests had already complained about it. I made it very clear to her that it was not acceptable to sell defective drinks. But she didn't see any way to do anything and told us she would tell the manager. I then raised the issue with the lady in charge, who reacted very unfriendly. Unfortunately, she refused to try the Coke herself, as she doesn't drink Coke. It's certainly possible for an operator or even an employee in a restaurant to test the product they're complaining about. Instead, she claimed a technician had been there and fixed the problem. The draft beer wouldn't have a problem either. Things got even more heated. I had decided to leave it at that, but the woman came out onto the terrace and yelled in front of all the guests. Essentially: "They said our Coke doesn't taste good. There's a problem with the system, we're not selling Coke anymore!" I then went back to her and discovered that there was indeed a problem with the Coke. Instead of acting normal and simply refunding the amount like any other restaurant owner would have done, she resorted to blame at its finest. We hadn't complained and poured everything into our bodies and then complained. I then offered to accommodate them and at least refund half the price, which prompted further abuse from the lady. When I pointed out that all I could do was write a review, she yelled again that they didn't care. I left the restaurant and saw a lot of astonished faces from other guests. We were actually about to leave, but then we witnessed a father from a larger group being insulted, much to his surprise. The group also left the restaurant. I'm reluctant to continue writing a review, but this incident was so inappropriate and unprofessional that I think others should be spared it.

There was no food left at 1:45 p.m. I had no food.

Big signs saying "You will be seated" — it immediately makes you feel like you're in the old days. And the gate closes just a few minutes before 11 (opening time). Because of wealth.

Unfortunately, there are no small snacks (a sausage with a roll or a snack)—they were all rather large meals. It also felt like everything was frozen, ready-made, and the cake wasn't homemade, not even from the bakery.

Day trip number 4 during our hiking holiday. The Felsbaude lodge on the Lilienstein is a great place to linger. If you want good food, you should definitely try the goulash. The prices are fair and reasonable for the quality. The service and staff are very friendly. We would come back anytime.

Food basic, but it’s at the top of a mountain, a lot better than no food! And I get draught beer, bliss

Unfortunately, the staff is unmotivated. Three employees are bored in the pub at 10:45. When they politely requested a takeaway drink, the request was refused. Of course, they have the right, given that the opening hours are from 11:00, but a motivated employee or the boss would have made it possible at €5.90 per drink! 😉

I don't usually write reviews, but here it is: Absolutely overpriced for this service and the lousy food. A pure rip-off! Hikers can only be advised to carry their drinks and snacks up and find a comfortable resting spot on the rocks.

Great restaurant! Very friendly service, delicious food, beautiful location!

Trip with three small children. We were caught in a sudden downpour on the way up and were completely soaked. When we got to the top, the hut was open, but all the doors were locked. They didn't even open it when we asked. An open parasol would have been enough for us to take a short break. We stopped in the rain in front of the rock hut. Next to us was a family with a child with Down syndrome. It's incomprehensible how someone could be so inhumane. And we're truly willing to compromise and understand. But unfortunately, this isn't something you can understand.

It was a Monday and not very busy. It was the perfect stopover. The food was good, plenty of choice, and the people were friendly. I'd go back anytime.

After a strenuous climb, it's always nice to find something delicious at the top of the mountain. Cold drinks and cakes—something for everyone. Unfortunately, my well-chilled Coke barely had any squirts left, which was a shame. Service was friendly and attentive.

The few bad reviews here are nonsense. The girls at the hut do a fantastic job—they're always nice and friendly. What some people don't understand is that everything has to be laboriously brought up there. Things can get a bit out of stock in the afternoon. Relax and be happy that there's something on offer up there at all—we're still in the national park. My pasta was delicious, the beer was cold, and the price was great. I'd love to come back and will recommend you to others. Keep up the good work! 👍🏻

2 euros for a bathroom break when you don't want to eat anything. 3 frozen potato pancakes with 2 spoonfuls of applesauce for a mini Ikea cereal bowl. Pasta with 3 crumbs of cheese for 18.50. A frozen butter pretzel for just under 4 euros. The pricing is incomprehensible and totally outrageous. It's cold inside, there are no cushions on the benches, and the waitresses are confused and don't know which table has ordered what. The only positive thing: we sat at a mixed table and met some great people.

Perfect hiking destination after the climb to Lilienstein. Very welcoming hosts, lovely beer garden, good selection of drinks and food. Card payments are also accepted. Hats off to what goes on here every day! Some of the reviews are incomprehensible. Who do people think they are? Be glad there's a place to stop for a bite to eat! The prices are justified based on the location alone and not excessive. Large yellow signs indicate that you'll be seated, and that's no reason to complain! You should check opening hours in advance, and closing time doesn't mean you have to have another beer or two left! Restaurant owners also have a right to their evenings without silly comments! To the Felsbaude team: All the best to you and keep up the good work 😊

Fast service, friendly but firm. Reasonable, manageable food and drink menu. Food makes a good visual impression and appears to taste good. The potato soup was good. Amazing in the post-Corona era: Payment with EC (!) card is possible, BUT only from a turnover of €25. Note for the ascent/descent: Except for the ladders, some of the paths are in a desolate condition - be careful when wet!!! However, the team at the building can't do anything about it!!!!

"The place" opens at 11, so if we get upstairs a little earlier, we will unfortunately miss it. We have to wait until the lady gives us a table. Considering that this is the only place where you can eat there, there are not many places. However, we only ordered beer - we couldn't eat our own provisions. One of the ladies serving was quite loud and constantly joking and laughing with customers, personally it was a bit bothersome for me. I probably wouldn't go there again to have something to drink and rest on the trail.

The food was good, the service was polite, but I really didn't like the fact that the lady pointed out that I was drinking my tablet with water taken from my backpack. Even though I was a customer at the restaurant, I had food and then beer.

Very nicely located on the Lilienstein, friendly staff, good food. Yes, it is a little more expensive, but everything has to be brought up the mountain and the staff also have to hike up every day. Very nice hiking tour from Königstein.

Today we were in the rock hut in bright sunshine. Food and drinks were all good. For the people who are upset about prices and offers, traipse up here every day and do this job. We thought it was totally okay and were happy that there was an option for food here. Thanks

Nice rest after a long hike. There was a choice of both vegetarian and meat dishes. The menu is manageable, but well selected. Fresh cakes are also available.

We just took a short drinking break here and were thrilled by the nice, friendly landlady. We felt welcome and are already looking forward to the next time.

Were there today, but didn't go in because of the smell of old frying grease. The prices on the menu are more than awesome. And the fact that you have to pay a whole €2(!) as a non-guest to use the toilet is out of the question!

The girls with their great motivation deserve more than 5 stars. Informal and not a star restaurant, that's always the nicest thing and when you think about how everything gets to the mountain... you don't need a word for it 😃

Unfortunately, as a dark-skinned person you won't be served, so we can't say anything positive.

I had been there once. I had the currywurst fries. My father had the potato pancakes and my brother had the potato soup with garnish. When a somewhat cheeky family man became cheeky upon arrival, the waitress skillfully countered. With never-before-heard Saxon wit, she quickly put him in his place. All standard questions about the location are answered on the map. (See Appendix). Spezi was delicious delicious.

A great excursion restaurant, nice ambience, fast service and a very funny waitress who also knows how to have fun.

The beer is good, the service is friendly but resolute. There was no more food at 2:45 p.m. At 3:15 p.m. the gate to the outdoor area was locked so that no more paying guests could endanger the end of the working day.

Lilienstein rock hut Great location, delicious food (good after a hike), humane prices and friendly service. From Lilienstein you have a great view in all directions. The ascent is relaxed and varied (northern ascent). We visited the field hut on Saturday in March. Recommendation 👍🏼

We have been coming to Lilienstein several times a year for many years and are guests in the mining lodge. We feel welcome here and are always happy to be able to discuss our experiences with other hikers at the table. Great conversations often arise. We are also very satisfied with the service and the food. In this context, a question for Ms. Leistner (review about a week ago): where have you ever eaten such good industrial soup? I would be interested immediately... In any case, we are already looking forward to March, a good time for all our fellow campaigners... and until then.

Today, with -2 degrees, snow and strong gusts of wind, I took the liberty of putting on my scarf in the shelter of the inn and pouring myself a sip of tea. I wasn't quite finished when the landlady (?) came out the door and said the following words to me: "Please move away from MY window, it looks ugly from inside." - I'll just leave it like that.

Cozy hut with great food and first-class, friendly service! Simply perfect for stopping off.

Cold room, had to sit on my scarf as there was only an old wooden bench. Level snack hall GDR. Landlady very loud, intrusive, addressed everyone as YOU. Heard how a lady was seated with a family at the next table. Original sound: "We'll sit the lady at the table with you!" The three of them sat unhappily in a very small space. From then on I was afraid that she would do that to me too! From then on my food was in my stomach. Abusive towards both parties. The dining room was almost empty!!!!! I've never experienced such impudence! 2 plates of industrial soup, 1 coffee, 1 beer, 2 pieces of industrial cake = 50 euros... the reader judges for himself. I don't come here anymore. For me, the lady meets the criteria of an NPKS.

I climbed the Lilienstein via the southern ascent, which in my opinion is the more interesting ascent. We received a very friendly welcome and our thirst was quenched in no time. The food was delicious and is definitely recommended. Toilets were very clean. All in all, hospitality is very important here. This was definitely not our last visit. With this in mind, all the best to the Lilienstein rock hut team, stay healthy and see you again soon 👋🏻👍 Update 12/29/2024 We felt welcome again today. Food was delicious as always. Nice place. The staff was very nice, funny and accommodating. After the climb you can have a delicious meal and a delicious beer. The short tour above is also recommended.

Today the four of us had lunch in the rock hut. We received a super friendly welcome, the food came very quickly and tasted really delicious. We can highly recommend the rock hut!!

The 0.4l beer/Radler €5.10. The lady at the counter was a bit overwhelmed: "I wasn't prepared for the weekend." Tables were occupied or blocked with reserved signs. Didn't convince us.

The friendliest inn in Saxon Switzerland. Hospitality is lived here in the truest sense. Extremely friendly staff with a fine sense of humor. We came in with 12 people and had our delicious meals very quickly. Many thanks to the team at Felsenbaude Lilienstein

We ate poppy seed cake and drank coffee/cappuccino there! The cake was very good! The coffee wasn't great, the cappuccino was okay! Since the prices are quite high, we came to almost €20 and there are points deducted; At the entrance it said that you can't pay with a card for less than €15, so I see that I can pay with a card for more than €15! It was more like luck that I still had €20 with me! Wouldn't have gone in if it hadn't said €15! What would have happened if we hadn't had any money with us? Quickly down from Lilienstein to the EC machine and up again?🤔

Very family unfriendly. Stuffy and bad service. Prices like those in mountain huts in the high mountains, where the food is delivered by helicopter, but with poorer, lower quality. Actual service times only at lunchtime from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., although opening times are advertised from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Absolutely no recommendation. It's better to stop at a café or restaurant in Bad Schandau or Königstein before or after.

The lady at the table next to us was coughing a lot. When we wanted to change the table we were told that we either sit where we were assigned or to go outside (even though there were other available tables). The personnel were terribly rude.

We were there on Sunday at 3:30 p.m., according to the notice it was open until 4 p.m. and we were told in an extremely rude manner that they would now close. Not a nice statement that we would like to have a drink but the kitchen is already closed or something like that. Just unfriendly rejections. That alone would be a reason for a complaint, but the cherry on top is the fact that a couple who arrived after us were still served drinks. It's a shame when you treat potential guests like that.

We had a very nice stay here and would like to thank you again for the nice service. The food tasted great and, unknown to us, we had a great conversation with our neighbors over a glass of beer.

We visited the “Lustigen Wirt” inn some time ago. Since today we also know a funny landlady who has her restaurant under control very well. The menu is adapted to the ambience. This means there are simple but tasty dishes at reasonable prices. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Beer garden style ambience goes well with the restaurant. There are enough seats. If the weather is very nice and there is an increased number of visitors, you may have to wait a few minutes, but the boss will seat you as quickly as possible. A small note for everyone who wants to visit the restaurant and therefore climb the Lilienstein, we recommend the climb via the northern route, which is a little easier. When you then hike back towards the parking lot via the southern route, you can see and experience everything that defines the Lilienstein.

Despite the wait for placement, it was worth it! Friendly, fast and delicious!

The very last pub I ever experienced, we wanted to sit at a table with six chairs when the waitress came and told us that we should sit at the table with people so that the table remained free for large families. Well, after seeing the finished dishes here, it's a good thing we didn't eat anything. I give my money to nicer innkeepers than up here.

The cake is super delicious, cheese and apple crumble. The service is super nice and the order comes super quickly. Great mountain restaurant, open even in drizzly weather.
