La Baita in Garmisch-Partenkirchen

We had an absolutely wonderful experience at La Baita. From the moment we arrived, the restaurant staff was incredibly friendly, warm, and welcoming, which instantly set a positive tone for our visit. We ordered the Vegetarian Pizza, Tomato Soup, Tiramisu, Panna Cotta, along with Maracuja juice and Spezi. The vegetarian pizza was truly excellent—loaded with fresh, flavorful vegetables and perfectly cooked, making every bite enjoyable. The tomato soup was equally impressive, rich and comforting with great taste. The desserts were the real highlight. Both the Tiramisu and Panna Cotta were off the charts amazing—easily some of the best we’ve had. They were beautifully balanced, indulgent, and a perfect way to end the meal. Overall, everything from the food to the service came together for a fantastic dining experience. La Baita delivered on all fronts, and this visit was a clear 5/5. Highly recommended!

Uncomplicated busy Italian restaurant with good tasting food. We had a reservation for 7 but 9 people turned up and no problem. Food turns up quickly and tastes good. Love the waiters that always look if customersneed something.

When the pizza arrived and I cut into the cheese, it was immediately clear that it was mozzarella, not burrata. I politely mentioned this to the waiter. In response, an empty packet of burrata cheese was shown to me, which was an Edeka own-brand product. I was also told that they could not bring burrata from Italy for me. I would like to clarify that my concern is not about price — a restaurant is free to charge whatever it considers appropriate for burrata. My concern is about serving the correct product. Burrata and mozzarella are very different cheeses in both texture and taste. As this is an Italian restaurant with Italian staff, I was disappointed to be served mozzarella instead of burrata and to learn that a supermarket own-brand product was being used rather than authentic Italian ingredients. This felt inconsistent with the image and expectations of an Italian restaurant. I have yet to experience a good plate of gnocchi since eating in Italy and this has been by far the best. Amazing food and service.

Found this place randomly and honestly wasn’t too impressed with the food quality. Everything was good but nothing special to remember by. I wouldn’t come back here next time I’m in town. It’s not bad it’s just nothing too special to try again.

We had made a reservation and were given a lovely table. The welcome was very friendly, and we enjoyed excellent food and drinks at a very good price-performance ratio. The cozy atmosphere made it all worthwhile. Thank you to the whole team!

Restaurant had some sort of miscommunication as I had made a reservation for 7 but they gave us a table that could comfortably fit 5-6 and we had to squeeze, which was a little inconvenient but not a big issue. The seafood pasta and risotto was tasty with generous portions of seafood, and the pizza was delicious, dough was perfectly cooked and ingredients were fresh and tasty. Prices were affordable as well, we spent about 160eur for 7 people for a lot of food and drinks.

Very large selection of pizza and pastas. I've had a few different pizzas, and my wife has had a few pasta dishes, and the've all been wonderful. Everything comes out super fast, and the brick oven they use for the pizza makes the crust very crispy. We've never had to wait for a table, but they do get busy. Everything is reasonably priced, too.

I go there every Sunday with my girlfriend. I'm extremely satisfied. The food is delicious 😋, and the drinks are cold. The pizza 🍕 with grilled zucchini, which was a recommendation, was incredibly tasty 😋. And the other pizzas 🍕 are always delicious too 😋. All the dishes are fantastic 😋. And they accommodate special requests. I would recommend making a reservation for Saturday evenings, though. The waiters are fun and very friendly.

We spontaneously decided to eat at this restaurant last night, as unfortunately no other place was serving hot food. So, one advantage is that they serve hot food until 11 pm. The staff were very friendly and pleased to have us as guests. The wood-fired pizza sounded promising, but it tasted completely bland. The chili oil was just oil; there was absolutely no hint of spice. The restaurant and its outdoor area have so much potential, but they're completely wasting it. Everything is old and run-down, so you don't really feel comfortable.

The most delicious Italian food in all of Garmisch! The pizza is simply divine – without a doubt the best in Garmisch! The staff is incredibly friendly and always creates a cheerful atmosphere. The service is reminiscent of top-class restaurants. I also order delivery very often, and every time everything is fresh and perfectly prepared. The Gnocchi Fiorenita with spinach is my absolute favorite ❤️ Thank you so much for existing and for cooking with so much love!

The best lasagna I've ever had!!! The tomato sauce was amazing. It's a huge portion; I couldn't finish it, it was too much, but it was so delicious that I took the rest home. I highly recommend it! They have excellent customer service! I'll be back to try more dishes.

I've been there twice for takeout, and the second time I only went in because the pizza and salad were so outstanding. The second time, I ordered the pizza and pasta again. We looked like bums because we'd just come from hiking, but we were treated so well, and everyone was incredibly friendly. I'd recommend making a reservation if you want to eat in, as the place is always packed. I highly recommend this restaurant and would definitely make it my regular spot if I lived here. We ordered from La Baita quite often. While the prices are a bit higher, we've generally been satisfied. However, today's incident was the last straw. My husband's pizza was fine, as usual. I ordered Vitello Tonnato from the extra menu that automatically opens online. It offered a small portion for €14.50 and a large portion for €16.90. So I ordered a large portion. The man on the phone asked if I wanted a small or regular one. I repeated that I wanted a large portion, as stated on the menu. Then I asked about pizza rolls. These would cost extra. Their regular bread was included. I said I just wanted some bread with it. Now comes the kicker... the bill shows €8 for bread. My husband went to La Baita with the bread and the bill. He didn't know that my dish was on a separate menu. And they told him that this charge wasn't for the bread, but for the "large" portion I had ordered. I then called them and explained again that I had ordered a large portion from the menu. The person I spoke to told me that a regular portion cost €16.90, and that I had insisted on a large one, which would have cost an extra €8. The odd thing was that the portion wasn't any bigger than the one I had at the local pizzeria just a few weeks ago. That was our last order and our last visit to La Baita.

We picked up pizza and unfortunately only noticed later that one of the pizzas was the wrong one. The pizzas were very tasty though, and the restaurant was very busy, so a mix-up can happen. We would still come back, but we were only on vacation 😉

Good pizza, very friendly staff good value for money. To top it all off, they even gave us a grappa + run by an Italian 😉

I ordered a margherita pizza and got a kids cheese pizza. I told them what a margherita pizza should be and they made it for me only after arguing with them that it was not a margherita pizza. Don’t waste your time, because the pizza is terrible. Go anywhere else in Garmisch for better pizza

One of the places that seem to be busy all the time, which is a good sign. The restaurant was quite full and there were many takeaways as well. Found the many to be extremely huge and too many options but the items we got were of good quality. The person taking the orders was very friendly and professional. La Baita is fast and delicious. We are here a few years ago while visiting Garmisch and when we returned for a visit,we made sure it was the first place we ate. The pizza is amazing, but the pasta was even better. I had the Penne Arrabiatta and it was the perfect combination of spice and garlic. My husband had the Rigatoni with gargonzola and it was wonderful as well. We also ordered a mixed salad, the dressing was perfect....our dinner was so good, we made reservations to eat here for dinner each night of our 3 day visit.

Today, for the first time, I couldn't eat the lasagna I ordered at a restaurant. I haven't had such bad lasagna in 60 years. It was returned inedible and completely burnt, and then it was even added to the bill.

Great pizza! super fast delivery. we had 2 large pizza and we had leftovers. We had the margarita pizza- which is the American version of a cheese pizza. The second was a Hawaiian. Both thin crust each slice is the size of your head lol.

Thank God for this restaurant, otherwise I would have eaten bread and butter throughout my stay. I am Italian, love Italian food, and not so much German food, and I can vouch for the quality of the food. We went three times, and between two we tried 6 dishes - from fish, to pasta and pizza. Everything was delicious, the staff was lovely, and the place is really cosy. Make yourself a favour and go!

We went to La Baita in Garmisch-Partenkirchen again today. It was always our favorite Italian restaurant. The food was very good, as always, and the staff very friendly, but the prices have gone up quite a bit. I know we're in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and the restaurant is supposed to make a good living, but a regular pizza shouldn't cost more than 10 to 13 euros. This time it was 16 euros. We'll be back, but not as often.

Unfortunately, I went with my family to the restaurant before it closed and there was a guy with a girl at the table next to us and their looks were bold and annoying to us and the waiter took the order carefully but made an inappropriate move and I was with teenage children with all boldness so I went to him and told him that what he did was disrespectful and not permissible and he apologized but what is the use of an apology and tension prevailed in the family for fear that he was drunk. Overall, I will not go to the restaurant again because of the waiter

We reserved a table by phone, which is better. The staff was very friendly, and the food was ready fairly quickly. We had pizza and salad, and the portions were generous. Except for the drinks, I thought the prices were reasonable. As for the noise level, it was quite loud, but it was also quite busy.

During our vacation in Garmisch, we spontaneously ordered a takeaway pizza from there one evening. The call and pickup went smoothly. The pizzas 🍕 were also very good. Almost too big, so you have to have a good appetite. 😁 The price is also really reasonable for the size.

The pizza is truly delicious. However, it bothers me when you get the bill and are kept waiting until you name a sum that's higher than the actual price. It's like they're waiting for a tip. The restaurant is relatively cramped inside, but that's not a problem in itself. The food is all the better for it.

A Garmisch institution. Many Americans go there because of the nearby Edelweiss Resort. Excellent quality. Service was a little overwhelmed, but overall everything was good. I would give it 4.5 stars. We'll definitely continue to go there often, or order from the legendary Baita-Mobil.

Bad pizza and charge too much on the bill

The pizza is typically Italian, with a crispy, thin crust. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves pizza. The prices are a bit on the high side, like everywhere else, but then, it's GAP.

Pickup was ready after over 40 minutes, instead of 20 minutes as stated on the phone. Pizza was good, gluten-free rigatoni (fusilli) al forno without the advertised meat sauce, but rather with a cream sauce and a dollop of tomato. Unfortunately, it was rather tasteless, but with a lot of cheese.

Dined here during our stay in Garmisch. With no reservation, we walked up at 7 p.m. on Saturday night and we were quickly sat us down in the outside area. Orders taken quickly, and the waiter was very helpful with the menu. Food was very delicious! Also, we weren't rushed although it was busy.

We just went in a for a to go order of pizza and grab a beer while waiting. Pizza was good and the beer was cold.

I ordered a Pizza Inferno. Expecting salami and jalapenos, it ended up with pepperoni and ground beef. Still, it was one of the best pizzas I've ever had. Everything else was also very good. Highly recommended!

Great pizzeria. They're really flexible with special requests. The food was outstanding. Whether it was the pizza or the veal liver with grilled vegetables. The liver was tender, cooked to perfection, and lovingly presented. The prices are reasonable for the quality of the dishes, and the service is truly excellent and worth mentioning.

Unfortunately Not a proper italian Restaurant. I don’t recommend it if you know something about food. The Carbonara is made with cream! and normal Speck (not Guanchale or Panchetta). No homemade pasta. The pizza is ok but rather low standard and was not recieved as in the menu. The Veal medaillons were not at all medaillons but rather thin cut veal “steaks” almost like a schnitzel. Taste was not bad but honestly just because it was quite salty so that gave it a flavour. Coffee is from a full automatic mashine, so no barista (in an Italian restaurant, a bit strange). Mostly a family place I think. All together it was ok, nothing dramatic but just not high quality but rather just really medium quality restaurant for rather higher prices.
