Not worth the queue! Extremely slow service and very unfriendly staff. The staff was grumpy to us when we paid the bill. Fish were not fresh and quality of the food is not worth for the price we paid.

There was a long line at the entrance, but only a few tables were occupied inside. After waiting for over 40 minutes, just as it was almost our turn, we were told there were no more seats available for today. In front of us was a couple holding a crying child, and they were suddenly informed there were no seats left. Why not tell people from the beginning that there are no available seats, instead of letting them wait in line? The management is very poor—I don’t believe the food could be that good.

Unfortunately I am very disappointed with my last visit. Even though we hadn't finished eating, we were asked to leave the restaurant. We were aware that the table was only reserved for two hours - however, our friends had an emergency situation as their cell phone was stolen and they had to go to the police. That's why they arrived a little late, which we explained to the staff. Nevertheless, we ate and ordered drinks the whole time - in total we spent over €200 between the four of us. We would have expected that people would show a little understanding in such a case. Instead we had to clear the table even though we were still in the middle of eating. I used to be a big fan of Kushi-Tei and have been eating there for years. This time I wanted to introduce the restaurant to my friends - the experience was even more disappointing. Unfortunately I won't be coming back under these circumstances.

Super delicious food, really a bit of a hidden gem in this shop. Sushi was great, the meat was perfectly grilled and of good quality. All the side dishes were incredibly delicious too! Absolute recommendation

Unfortunately the service was unfriendly, the table was sticky, the fish wasn't fresh (one of us vomited afterwards), the toilets weren't clean and in general, just not good.

Amazing employees first -they really loved our dog and chopped the chicken for him+on top provided the water for him. Amazing sashimi-I think the best I’ve tried. Especially tuna. Sushi and the rest was also very good, but in my opinion a bit overpriced. In general food 5*, atmosphere 3* due not a good air in the reataraunt and bad light over the tables. Respect to the owner

Very authentic Japanese cuisine, you feel like you are in Tokyo

If you want to go to a pub in Germany, this is the best place. Most of the staff are Japanese, and the atmosphere inside the store is Japanese. The staff's attentiveness is completely Japanese-style and perfect! If you don't make a reservation, you'll have to wait in line for over an hour, so be sure to make a reservation before you go. And you can eat and drink at prices that are about 1.2 to 1.5 times more expensive than Japanese izakaya restaurants. The set menu was only for lunch, and the rice dishes for dinner were sushi and curry rice.

3* unfortunately. Everything was great. Hygiene, food and staff. Actually it should have been 5* if this reservation hadn't been made. Visiting the store spontaneously is a risk. We stood in line for over an hour. Many seats were not allocated because they were kept free for reservations. When it was our turn after 1 hour, not all places were still full. Unfortunately I also have to complain about something organizationally. There were seats available at the front of the counter, clearly for those who had not been reserved. I went in once to ask if something was available for two people. The only answer was that I should be patient and it would be best to go back into the queue. These seats at the front of the counter were free for over an hour. When we got there, what a coincidence, we got exactly these seats. It's a shame, this reservation system ruins so much. I would visit the store again but only if there is no line outside. Then it's better to go to the neighboring restaurants where it tastes great, but you can get it quicker. Oh yes, you should also factor in more in terms of price. Nicely above average price, but it definitely tastes good.

The taste is good, the chicken has a pure charcoal grill flavor, but the teriyaki flavor is not very strong, and the lunch price is okay.

The black garlic ramen was really bad. There was almost no flavor. I am a huge fan of tonkotsu, but this was just watery without flavor. I do think it is a nice restaurant, even if expensive, but their strength is more for the yakitori and sushi i guess. We waited more then 1 hour to get in and then i was very disappointed, especially for the price they asked and maybe the weakest tasting tonkutsu ramen i ever ate. Would not recommend it without a reservation and go for their special items, not ramen.

We decided to try the food here after reading a bunch of good reviews. Service was okay and the manager was quite flexible for a German restaurant when they agreed to serve a smaller portion of tempura at my request. However, i was really disappointed about the quality of food. We felt like all kinds of fish were not fresh. Sashimi tuna was very fishy and fatty. There were still fish scales and bones in yellowtail sashimi (hamachi) 🥲 Tempura was not properly fried, so the taste was mediocre and did not justify the price charged (over €14 for 2 shrimp tempura and 1 bell pepper tempura).

Kushi-Tei of Tokyo is a simple and authentic place, which focuses entirely on quality. The seafood is excellent, with top-notch nigiri and charcoal-grilled yakitori cooked to perfection. The vast selection of sake is also excellent. The service is essential, in line with the type of restaurant. Rather high bill, but quality that justifies it. If you are looking for an authentic Japanese experience in Düsseldorf, this is the right place

It was a spontaneous idea that we went out for Japanese food yesterday on a Tuesday. We were relatively late and were surprised that we had to wait a short time until we got a table. The restaurant was packed. The atmosphere is nice. The waitresses speak little German, but English worked well. The food was perfect and the Japanese beer went down easily. The service was also good. The waitresses were attentive. The facility is functional. Not a big eye-catcher, but we also went there to eat.

Ordered 38 euro per person set meal last night, service pretty good, wait not a long time for the food, and is definitely enough for one person to eat (can’t even finish all of it). Food is good, but is not the taste I am that into, so maybe I will give a 4/5 for food I got, and 5/5 for service, won’t be back again in a short time.

Waiting 45 minutes outside to be seated and when we ordered they said the menu that was presented outside was only for dinner. They did not try to accommodate the customers. So we left. They told us a big SORRY. Very busy and overrated. Try something else in the area!

A piece of Japan in the middle of Düsseldorf! At the 'Kushitei of Tokyo' you can experience typical Japanese hospitality - friendly, attentive and warm. I ordered the 'Beef Kalbi Don Gozen' and it was a delight: tender, pink grilled beef, lightly seasoned, perfectly complemented by rice, side vegetables and a soothing miso soup. An authentic experience that I can recommend to every Japan fan. Next time I'll try something new!

We waited 1h+ in the queue. It was quite late and near the closing time. Luckily we were the last ones that were allowed to get in to grab some food. We ordered tori karaage, meat skewers (roppon mori), luxuri sushi set, omakase 7 sashimi set and kinako vanilla icecream. It was all so delicious. We really enjoyed our meal. The seafood were so fresh and the service was friendly. Would come back here 🤗

Had the Kushitei menu with yakitori and sushi. The yakitori was served before the sushi, only when I was finished with the yakitori skewers was the sushi served. It would be better to serve both at the same time as I didn't want to eat just meat. In itself it was delicious. Service could be a little quicker. Prices are higher. All in all, recommended for special evenings and yakitori fans.

Our favorite for years now. Delicious Japanese food of hight quality, and with a friendly service. The only thing that bothers me is the waiting outside in the cold (1st of Feb 2025) and that you cannot make a reservation on Saturday. And, although the food is fresh and delicious, prices are on the higher side.

We were in the restaurant about 1.5 hours before the kitchen closed, which is not recommended. The food was good to very good, the service was friendly but uncoordinated. The agreed menu sequence was not adhered to. The most disturbing thing, however, was that tidying up and cleaning had already started about 45 minutes before the kitchen closed, so that cleaning equipment was constantly being carried past our table, there was a large trash can in the dining room and there was a strong smell of disinfectants. Conclusion: You can go, but go early

Fantastic experience like in any Japanese restaurant on this same street. Many of the Japanese restaurants in Spain and many Spaniards who believe they master Japanese cuisine should learn from these restaurants. If you go in Japan 🇯🇵 to a supposedly Spanish restaurant and there is only paella and sangria on the menu, we would flee immediately. There is much more than sushi 🍣 and makis in Japanese cuisine and for this Düsselfdorf is a small paradise in Europe. PS: there are many Spanish restaurants in Düsselfdorf, but don't even think about going there, they are quite mediocre

Ein schon sehr lange bestehende Japanisches Restaurant. Die Gerichte haben sich in den letzten Jahren nicht geändert, immer noch sehr gut, leider ist das Preis Leistungs Verhältnis etwas zu hoch. Deshalb auch meine mittelmäßige Bewertung. Das Yakitori Menü mit 8 Spiechen um 38,-- finde ich persönlich zu teuer. Zumal es wirklich sehr kleine Spießchen sind und auch die Zutaten nicht wirklich die teuersten sind

Die Speisekarte ist ein bisschen trashig aber passend. Qualität der Grillsticks und den Wakamesalat sehr gut. Allerdings hinkt ein bisschen das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis, da Mittel-bis Hochpreisig. Ich bin gerne im Kushi-Tei.

The food was good but expensive. The atmosphere is shabby and uncomfortable. But the worst thing was the kick-out music, hard beats with a hard rock mix, far too loud and anything but harmonious. Very tiring and not conducive to a good meal. I don't know why people do something like that. A friend told me that this would happen more often now so that the guests would disappear quickly. For me an exclusion criterion. I wouldn't want to dine in such an environment twice. Really annoying.

The taste was too average, which made me a little disappointed. There are also small flying insects in the restaurant that need to be driven away from time to time.

The style of the restaurant really makes you believe you are sitting in a Japanese Jakitori Bar. Really great! 10/10 we went here last minute on the last day. It was delicious, kind staff and fast service. The food tasted really good and authentic. I would recommend to make a reservation online since the queue can be long for walk-ins.

Visited for lunch on a weekday. There is a lunch menu, so if you go for lunch on a weekday, you can eat at a slightly discounted price. Rather than a restaurant specializing in one menu, it sells a variety of foods. I had chicken cutlet for lunch and it was pretty good. It was much better than the tonkatsu restaurant next door. I don't know if the quality varies from menu to menu or from day to day because I've only been there once. The staff felt somewhat abrasive, and the store was relatively large compared to nearby stores, so turnover was decent.

This used to be an excellent restaurant for refined japanese cuisine, especially charcoal-grilled meat, sushi and sashimi. The quality and freshness of the fish and meat are still superb. But the early closing time ( 10:00 p.m. ) in combination with a rather rude service -accepting last orders only before 09.00 p.m., staff pawing the ground expecting you to leave from 09:40 p.m. on- is simply not what one expects from a venue where the invididual bill usually ranges from 60 € per Person upwards.

This place has been on my "want to go" list for a while. Everytime I was too late or the lines were too long to wait in with 2 small children. But finally I had the chance to eat here while not waiting in line longer than 10/15 minutes. The menu for lunch has a little less options than the one for dinner so I had to adjust my order a bit. The staff is so friendly and really tried to help us to choose items on the menu and speak English with us. We chose the selection of different nigiri, maki and gunkan, the selection of 7 kinds of sashimi (the selection varies per day due to availability), the wagyu, the 5 different yakitori and the aburi toro salmon ikura. And I must say the quality of the rice and fish are amazing. I am ruïned forever. I won't be able to eat sushi in the Netherlands anymore. The price is very worth the quality. I found out later you can make a reservation. So on my next visit to Düsseldorf I will definitely make a reservation for dinner.

Nice place to enjoy various japanese food with 'izakaya' vibe

The food is very good, however, the guy with glasses has not the right attituted nor the right choice of word to properly deal with clients. It is unfortunate that it takes only one person poor behaviour to ruin the good efforts put by the rest of the stuff.

Although it is a Kushi specialty restaurant, it is not right to evaluate it after eating sushi, karaage, and udon, but the quality of the sushi in the lunch sushi set is very different from that in Japan. Please note

The sushi was freshly wrapped, but it was placed on the bar for a long time and was not served to us. There was no seasoning or wasabi. Very perfunctory and perfunctory. We love Japanese food and went here for an extensive lunch. My wife had the sushi set menu and I had the Kushi-sushi set menu. The menu starts of with a starter and miso soup, after which you get the main dishes and ends with a mochi green tea ice cream. I really liked the kushiyaki here and the sushi was good. The set includes all meats. The miso soup was so good my daughter even ate all the mini cubes of tofu inside. The service is very good and I suspect that most people that work here are either Japanese or speak perfect Japanese.

I tried to reserve a table via Opentable, but unfortunately that didn't work. An attempt to alert a restaurant employee to the problem also failed as no one seemed willing to answer the phone. The quality of the food may be good, but the customer service is poor, so unfortunately I only give one star.

I was very much looking forward to exploring the Japanese cuisine in Dusseldorf and when I stumbled upon this place, I was completely adamant to eat here for dinner. I was with 3 other friends and we went on a Saturday evening at around 7:30pm - I believe they only do walk-ins during the weekends; luckily we only waited for 10 mins before being seated. The restaurant is quite spacious and the ambience is nice. I opted for the yakitori/sushi set and was very pleased with the quality of the food and portion size. It's not cheap but I thought it's a good value for the money. Service was also relatively quick considering how busy it was. All the servers were very friendly and accommodating; I requested for the yakitori sauces on the side and they delivered just that. It was the highlight of my Dusseldorf visit and I'd go back to this restaurant in a heartbeat!

Authentic Japanese food. Friendly staff. The children liked the sushi. I loved the eel. It is a grill restaurant, so choose the grill dishes to taste! They make it on a grill in the open kitchen. Definitely come back here.

Sehr sehr leckeres authentisches japanisches Essen. Preise sind gerechtfertigt sobald man das essen vor sich hat. Portionen sind groß. Man wird satt. Besonders die Grillspieße spiegeln die Erfahrungen des Koches wieder. Sehr zu empfehlen. Besonders als Abschluss einer Reise oder für einen besonderen Abend. Für größere Gruppen nicht geeignet. Außerdem empfehle ich vorher zu reservieren.

I ordered a set of kushiyaki, beef teriyaki, karaage, and chicken teriyaki. Everything was absolutely perfect! The flavors were well-balanced, and the dishes were cooked to perfection. If I may suggest, adding a bit more sauce to the kushiyaki would enhance the taste even further. Overall, a great experience, and I will definitely be ordering again!

I've been here now and then. Sushi tastes very good. When I eat sushi here, I remember kikaku, I think the first sushi restaurant in Düsseldorf is just as good here. I don't think Ebi Tempura Don is that great here, the dough wasn't that crispy or the color wasn't gold enough and I think the sauce is super sweet. I've eaten better in Düsseldorf. Grilled Saba fish is delicious as standard. So generally good Japanese restaurant.

Service was great but I was disappointed by the quality of the food. Maybe I expected too much. This fish was quite fresh but cut too thick making it overpowering when eating. And the yakitori + unagi lack this “smokey/grilled” taste that they’re supposed to have. I liked the variety of vegetable tempura but the method of frying and amount of batter made it mediocre. Nevertheless I’d still like to revisit but for the sushi next time.

Da wird noch echte japanische Sushi Kunst betrieben. Die Zutaten sind allesamt sehr frisch. Man merkt, dass die Gäste mit Hingabe und das Essen mit handwerklicher Kunst hergestellt und zelebriert wird. Das Ambiente ist sehr japanisch. Im hinteren Bereich gibt es auch Tisch in typischer japanischer Machart. Schuhe ausziehen ist oberstes Gebot. Wir hatten uns einmal quer durch die ansprechende Karte gegessen und haben jedes Gericht mit viel Appetit gegessen. Ich kann die Sushi Bar wirklich jedem Sushi-Liebhaber wärmstens ans Herz legen. Eine echte TOP 10 bei Tripadvisor.
