Wieder ein tolles Essen vor dem Besuch des Theaters. Aber auch ohne Anschlussevent: ein sehr empfehlenswertes Restaurant!

Eine perfekte Location vor - und nach dem Besuch des Schauspielhauses. Auch sonst eine gute Adresse mit einer schönen Lage direkt am Hofgarten. Im Sommer eine super Terrasse. Essen ist abwechaslungsreich und sehr gut. Bedienung ist sehr freundlich und aufmerksam.

Wir kommen gerne vor einem Theaterbesuch ins Schillings. In einer sehr netten Umgebung mit aufmerksamen Personal freuen wir uns auf ein gut abgestimmtes, sehr ansprechend arrangiertes und leckeres Essen!

Top Qualität! Super Service! Tolles Ambiente! Die Speisekarte ist übersichtlich, dafür der Geschmack umso besser! Dies war der dritte Besuch zum Mittagessen. Wir kommen wieder.

Personal muy servicial. Estábamos llegando tarde y tuvimos que cambiar nuestra reserva dos veces. Cuando llegamos nos sirvieron rápidamente aunque todas las mesas estaban llenas. Tuvimos aperitivos después del teatro, que eran muy sabrosos.

We have loved going there since the Schillings opened in the Schauspielhaus and have always had a lovely evening with varied food and good drinks. The service is very attentive and table reservations before and after the theatre work out great. The atmosphere is very appealing and you can have a great conversation at the individual tables without everyone being able to hear the conversation. We think it's wonderful and would love to come back. In summer, the Schillings with its large terrace facing the Hofgarten is highly recommended. It is a place of peace and relaxation in the middle of the city centre. We are already looking forward to our next visit to the Schillings.

It was my first time eating there after a performance. It was a positive experience! Super convenient, right next to the theater. Nice ambience and spacious. Very friendly service. Food very tasty. Stylish atmosphere, very good acoustics. Although it was almost completely full, we were able to have an excellent conversation. The service was great, friendly and attentive. The portions are extensive (2 veal schnitzels, 2 nice fillets loup de mer).

Yesterday we were at Schillings for the first time. A bit hidden, but it was worth the search. Very good food, small menu but something for everyone. Super nice service, although it was very busy at our time, everything went very quickly. Very nice location, we will come back. 😊

We went to Schillings yesterday with a group of 7 people and it was just great! The atmosphere is super cozy and stylish – perfect for a relaxed evening. The service was friendly, attentive and served us quickly despite the larger group. The food? A dream! Fresh, tasty and really well balanced. I can highly recommend the Loup de Mer and the deer goulash. We felt completely comfortable and will definitely come back. Thank you for the great evening!

Update February 2025: Unfortunately, service on the last visit wasn't good, a bit inattentive and poorly organized, it wasn't a nice evening for us & you didn't really feel welcome. At the moment I wouldn't want to go there again. Too bad! Nice restaurant with round tables inside and a nice terrace with a view of the courtyard garden. In a positive sense, a clear menu with classics and seasonal dishes (e.g. asparagus). Tasty and good.

Really beautifully designed restaurant in the middle of the city at the Hofgarten and Schauspielhaus! We were there in front of the theater and had a very tasty meal (steak tartare, Wiener schnitzel, pike perch) with fair prices and very friendly service. A really recommendable restaurant in the city - and not just before a visit to the theater, we will definitely come back!

We visited the restaurant several times. The service is amazing, all very attentive and fast. The food is really good, especially the "Pommes"....the best in all Düsseldorf :) Not to forget the atmosphere: it is very special, in Winter or in Sommer (where you can enjoy the beautiful terrace facing the garden). Definitely a restaurant to try in Düsseldorf!

In the middle of the city and right in the countryside: this is where you'll find this beautiful Schillings restaurant. The terrace with a view of the courtyard garden is idyllic, and the interior rooms also exude a cozy atmosphere. The food was delicious, the service was excellent! It was our first time at Schillings and we were very impressed. Extremely pleasant and unobtrusive service. but who always kept an eye on our table. The food was of a high standard, interestingly prepared and tasted very good. The furnishings are modern and very harmonious. Schillings Düsseldorf – A perfect evening, not just on New Year’s Eve Schillings is one of those restaurants where everything just fits. The food, the service and the ambience – you feel completely at home here. Yesterday we were able to enjoy the New Year's Eve menu, and I have to say: it was simply great. Everything was incredibly tasty, perfectly balanced and so beautifully presented that it was almost a shame to eat it. I would particularly like to emphasize the attention to detail - you can just tell that there are people at work here who love their work. The service was, as always, top: super friendly, attentive, but never intrusive. You feel welcome from the start and realize that you, as a guest, are really the center of attention. The ambience is also what makes Schillings special. It's stylish, but not stuffy - a place where you immediately feel at home. Especially yesterday on New Year's Eve, the atmosphere was festive and relaxed at the same time, which made for a successful turn of the year. Many thanks to the entire team for this wonderful evening! I will definitely be back – not just on special occasions.

Mit der Eleganz eines Theatermonologs entführte uns das Schillings in eine wahre gastronomische Inszenierung. Der Service war stets präsent, jedoch niemals aufdringlich. Getränke wurden wie auf Zuruf gereicht, und die Weinkarte entpuppte sich als ein Repertoire, das für jeden Geschmack etwas bereithält. Die Atmosphäre ist ein Gedicht: Flackernde Kerzen tauchen den Raum in warmes Licht, während die Tischdekoration subtil von Raffinesse zeugt. Die Gerichte sind kleine Kunstwerke! kunstvoll angerichtet und geschmacklich perfekt abgestimmt. Die Preise? Sicherlich nichts für jeden Theaterbesucher, doch für diese kulinarische Darbietung absolut gerechtfertigt. Ein Abend im Schillings ist weit mehr als nur ein Mahl! Es ist ein Vorspiel zur theatralischen Hauptvorstellung, ein Genuss, der alle Sinne verzaubert. Fazit: Für Theaterliebhaber und Feinschmecker ein absolutes Muss!

Great atmosphere. A bit pricey and upscale. Good portions are small! I had the steak and mashed potatoes, and it was probably 4 oz of meat and a smear of potatoes. Don't expect to leave full if you are very hungry.

The restaurant is modern and has an open kitchen and the staff is very friendly. Unfortunately, the food is nothing special and unfortunately doesn't justify the high prices. The portion of Vitello Tonnato is actually almost a disgrace for €18, as you get a lot more for your money from prawns in oil. The Cesar salad is okay, but I found the dressing quite bland. The chicken was okay, but also too little for the price of almost €26. The lettuce was not picked correctly, but cut into larger slices, so that there was generally not enough dressing on the salad. All in all, in my opinion, the price-performance ratio is not right here.

Very child friendly, fine dining and very well located

I have been a guest at Schillings several times. In summer, the outdoor area with a view of the courtyard garden is highly recommended. In the cooler season, the more purist interior of the restaurant is no less appealing in my opinion. On all my visits the service was always very friendly and accommodating. In my opinion, the restaurant's kitchen knows its craft. The dishes are very attractively prepared and also taste impressive.

Even as a fundamentally attentive and critical spirit, there was nothing to complain about during our visit to Schillings. On the contrary! Starting with the table reservation and the consideration of wishes in advance for our (admittedly well in advance) announced visit for four. About the excellent, courteous, professional, polite and, at the same time, service that is highly tailored to the diversity of individual customers. We don't see that very often at this level in this business. In this respect, it is not surprising that the culinary part of course differs in the smallest way. We had 4 different starters, main courses and alcoholic drinks, so the maximum range and were completely thrilled with the taste experience, including tasting each other. We then went to the theater completely satisfied and in a great mood to have a nightcap at Schillings at the end. We were all 100% satisfied, hence 5 stars in all categories. Maybe it can be even better, but so far it's definitely at the highest level. We are already looking forward to New Year's Eve and further visits to Schillings.

Wir waren direkt vor einer Theateraufführung im Schillings und freuten uns über den "theatergerechten" Service. Wir hatten problemlos online reserviert und das war auch gut so, denn das Restaurant war gut besucht. Zur Begrüssung wurden wir nach unserer Vorstellung gefragt und ob wir auch an der Einführung teilnehmen wollten. Das war ein großer Pluspunkt, denn in keinem anderen Theater-/Opernrestaurant wurde das gefragt und dann der Service an diesen Zeitrahmen angepasst. Der gesamte Service war zuvorkommend, flott und sehr professionell. Die Karte bietet für jeden etwas, auch kleinere Gerichte und passt somit ideal für ein Restaurant im Schauspielhaus. Die Zubereitung war einwandfrei und die Getränkekarte ist klein, aber sehr gut sortiert. Das Ambiente ist nicht ideal für ein ruhiges Abendessen (enge Bestuhlung und hoher Lärmpegel), das machte uns aber vor einer Theateraufführung nichts aus. Fazit: der Besuch im Schillings war ein sehr gelungener Beginn eines phantastischen Abends.

Eine wirklich gute Option, mittags in Düsseldorf! Die Karte bietet viel Auswahl - zusätzlich gibt es noch eine kleine Lunchofferte. Sensationeller Service, lange nicht erlebt! Entspannt, hoch professionell, freundlich, schnell und generiert Zusatzverkäufe! Allein dafür lohnt sich der Besuch ;-)!

Sehr freundlicher Empfang. Vor 18 Uhr stockte der Service etwas. Danach war es besser. Gute Speisen und angenehmes Ambiente.

Die gelungene Mischung aus einem smarten Bistro und gemütlichen Restaurant hat uns angesprochen. Das Team wirkt geübt und der Service war angemessen - auch wenn unsere Bestellung zunächst nicht unserem Tisch zugeordnet werden konnte. Die Preise sind grenzwertig, aber noch akzeptabel. Die Qualität des Cäsarsalates war mangelhaft, er ertrank geradezu im Dressing. Hierauf angesprochen, kam eine Entschuldigung aber kein Angebot, beispielsweise für einen Nachlass! Obwohl alles schwamm. Der Salat Nicoise war gut, auch hier leider zu viel Dressing! In einigen Restaurants wird man vorab gefragt, ob und ggf. welches Dressing gewünscht wird - das geht besser.

Köstliches Essen, gute Weine, schönes Ambiente, tolle Spielecke und dazu noch ein hervorragender Service - Dankeschön.

Great restaurant with very tasty food, good wine and excellent service! Vegetarian options are also very diverse and exceptionally smart and friendly service is becoming increasingly rare these days. Not only a pleasure for theater goers, on the contrary, you can spend a very pleasant time here with or without a play. Wines were also excellent, a very nice selection was made here. I will definitely recommend it and visit it again - regardless of a performance.

Food was great. Wine accompaniment harmonious. Atmosphere between quiet and bustling (depending on whether there is a theater performance coming up). Food was flawless and not just run of the mill. Portions perfect. Service friendly and attentive. Location nice. Seating comfortable. I'd love to come back.

The terrace is unadorned and unloving, as well as unkempt, even though the location would offer so much. The food was ok, but we still didn't find the price-performance ratio convincing, especially 1 glass of Rosé 0.15 for €9.50 (the bottle price would then be over €60!) My wife and I celebrated our wedding at Schillings in August 2024. It was the perfect day thanks to the professional and attentive service from the team. The location, the food and the drinks were excellent. We also enjoy eating at Schillings because the friendly service and high quality of the food are combined with an excellent price-performance ratio. In addition, the ambience in the Schauspielhaus and directly at the Hofgarten is unique for Düsseldorf. Clear recommendation for a nice evening!

It didn't convince us. We found the atmosphere to be dreary and oppressive: everything is black and the tables are quite narrow. For our taste, the opposite of a feel-good atmosphere. The service is attentive and not objectionable. The food was sometimes very overpriced: for example, we had the “baked eggplant” as a starter for €16. The dish consisted of 5, max 6 thin and small eggplant slices, which were alternated with grapefruit slices (in my opinion not orange slices as described on the menu). The taste is very unremarkable, but in any case completely overpriced given the very simple ingredients. The zarzuela, a Spanish fish stew, more of a fish soup, is recommended, however, given the rich addition, it was not worth complaining about in terms of price.

The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The aperitif was also good. The prices are a bit too high. Unfortunately the service was quite slow. There were only two women, one of whom only worked sporadically. The ambience was quite nice, but the music was a bit too loud at times.

The two of us had a lovely evening! Good selection of aperitifs, small but nice menu. The starter, tuna, was very nicely presented and a good quantity too. The fish soup was very tasty with lots of fish and pleasant spice. The price-performance ratio is very good for a better restaurant. The service was very nice, humorous and attentive. We'll be back!

On a Thursday evening we visited Schillings in the Schauspielhaus for the first time. We didn't even know this place, it's a little hidden behind the foam playhouse. But we really liked the outside terrace, with the view of the greenery. We started with a delicious Jever on tap and then we could start with the appetizers. We ordered the tuna tataki and the fried pulpo. The tuna was very fresh and tasty, the combination with the miso and wasabi cream was great. The pulpo was very tender and the fennel, orange and celery salad was beautifully aromatic. The appetizers were already great! We continue with the main course. There was the Wiener Schnitzel made of veal and the veal cheek burger. The two (!) schnitzels were nice and thin and crispy, and, as it should be, topped with anchovies. There were also great fries. The burger was great too! The meat was super tender, like pulled beef that melts in your mouth. It's also great that the bun was baked in-house. The side salad also came with a delicious dressing. Main course also great! Finally, we shared the Solero dessert in a glass. The mango was delicious, but as it went down the taste became more neutral. It seemed a little too sweet to us. The food was really very good! We also liked the selection of drinks. The attentive service and the beautiful ambience inside are also appealing. We had a lovely evening and can definitely recommend this "secret" place

After the performance at 4:00 p.m. i.e. 6:30 p.m. we tried to get a table, three tables were still locked with chains, ?? We were supposed to queue up so that the service had an overview, tip after a sold out one, you can assume that one or the other would like to consume something, whether food etc. We then decided as a group to go to another location. Everyone was surprised that it was so difficult to get a table for 5 people in a theater restaurant after a performance. It's a shame we've always been happy at Schillings so far.

Das Schillings im Schauspielhaus hat sich etabliert und bewährt. Es ist unser leibgewonnener Anlaufpunkt, wannimmer wir ins Schauspielhaus gehen und empfiehlt sich auch für nicht DHaus-Gänger. Das Essen ist toll, die Karte enthält viele wunderbare Leckerbissen und eine breite Auswahl auch vegetarischer/veganer Speisen und der Service ist immer perfekt.

Hatten mit 8 Personen einen sehr guten Abend mit köstlichen Gerichten, aufmerksamen, sehr freundlichen Service. Allein das „Tataki von Wassermelone“ überraschte durch die sehr kleine Portion zum Preisverhältnis, geschmacklich war es jedoch gut. Ich habe mehrfach die Terrasse besuchen können diesen Sommer, sowohl zum Lunch als auch zum Dinner- und kann das Schilling sehr empfehlen.

Alles war zu unserer vollen Zufriedenheit, Vorspeise köstlich, Hauptspeise köstlich, sehr höfliches Personal, sehr angenehmes Ambiente mit Blick in den noch sommerlichen Hofgarten; vor unserem nächsten Theaterbesuch werden wir sehr gerne wieder hier einkehren.

Attraktive Location, schicke Einrichtung. Leider mit wenig Personal, sodass wir erstmal 15 Minuten auf den Wein warten mussten. Stimmung dann schon dahin, denn günstig ist hier nichts. Salat Nizza eine absolute Katastrophe, sehr sauer, Salat welk, Kartoffeln kalt. Nach einer Beschwerde gabs ein Dessert umsonst, was sehr nett war. Der Rest der Speisen war ok, ich empfand das Tartar als etwas senflastig. Der Pulpo war toll.

The location is really perfect, very close to the city center but still a bit hidden and cozy. Great places, quiet atmosphere and nice staff. We waited a little longer than usual for the main course, but it was still really nice there!

It's a must to go to this restaurant if you like really fresh food. It's always a pleasure for us to go there and it doesn't matter whether it's after a shopping trip or a visit to the theater, they also organize weddings. Just go there and let yourself be surprised. In summer the view from the terrace is a dream. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Even the dessert, the homemade ice cream, was a dream - you taste what you are.

Hier kann man immer wieder einen schönen und köstlichen Abend verbringen. Neben dem wirklich guten Essen und dem freundlichen Service, gefällt mir besonders die angenehm gedämpfte Geräuschkulisse. Dabei ist die Einrichtung stylish-modern mit einem besonders hervorzuhebenden intimen Lichtkonzept. Ein Highlight ist außerdem die tolle Terrasse direkt am Hofgarten! Übrigens auch eine gute Wahl zum Lunch.

Schillings is a very nice, modern restaurant with a great lighting concept and pleasant volume. It offers German/European cuisine of the best quality and attentive service. Before/after a visit to the theater, but also just like that, it is a gem of the Düsseldorf gastronomy scene. In summer, the large terrace directly on the Hofgarten is also a hit! The service is also usually particularly noteworthy.

The four of us visited Schillings for the first time on June 30th and were very impressed, both by the very friendly, attentive and efficient service as well as by the creative and successful cuisine: sea bass, baked cauliflower, quinoa bowl and panzanella - everything was great. Unfortunately the weather wasn't suitable for outside, but the beautiful, quiet location on the edge of the Hofgarten is certainly impressive. We will definitely come back and recommend!

The restaurant has a very good balance of great food at appropriate prices, easy-going but professional service, an atmosphere which is classy but relaxed and allows for a good conversation but also fun. Not sure if that description makes sense... In any case, we have been there for business dinners, grandma's birthday lunch, post-theater bites and evening drinks. Great terrace!

Central location, but the large sun terrace is quietly located right next to the green park. Very cozy atmosphere and delicious selection of different dishes. We had a lovely evening. Only the service was a bit inattentive. We sometimes had to wait a long time and orders were always taken incorrectly.

Schillings im Schauspielhaus is a charming spot with cozy seating and a stylish, modern ambiance. The menu offers a delightful mix of contemporary dishes and timeless classics. Although our food and drinks took a bit longer to arrive, they were definitely worth the wait—delicious and well presented. While prices for some dishes lean towards the higher end, parents will appreciate the wallet-friendly Currywurst option for kids. And keep an eye out for the delightful Rose-ringed Parakeets fluttering about.

Ich war mit meinem Partner abends vor dem Theater im Schillings wir hatten reserviert und sind aufgrund des Verkehrsstaus zu spät gekommen. Wir hatten aber angerufen der Herr am Telefon meinte, es wäre kein Problem. Wir müssten dann nur ein bisschen zügiger bestellen, damit wir in Ruhe essen können. Wir sind im im Restaurant eingetroffen und wurden herzlichst begrüßt. Es war gut besucht. Wir hatten zur Vorspeise der Tataki vom Thunfisch. Zum Hauptgang hatten wir den gebrannten Blumenkohl und das Rinderfilet, was sehr köstlich war. Wir hatten noch Lust auf ein Dessert und hatten gefragt, ob das zeitlich sich ausgehen würde und dann meinte die Service Kraft er würde uns schnell was bringen und wir bekamen zwei Affogato die wirklich das Abendessen abgerundet haben. Alles im einen waren wir sehr zufrieden. Der Service war schnell das Essen war lecker. Wir werden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen..

zum Glück hatten wir vor der Aufführung reserviert. Proppenvoll und netter und schneller Service und Speisenfolge. Gute Küche, klare Gerichte angemessene Preise .. wir kommen gerne wieder .. ins Theater und hierhin

Der Aufenthalt im „Schillings im Schauspielhaus“ erfüllte unsere positiven Erwartungen: gute Qualität der Speisen und Getränke, sehr freundlicher Service, ansprechende moderne Ausstattung, einladender Terrassenbereich in wunderschöner Lage direkt am Park an der nördlichen Düssel (Hofgarten). Auf ein nächstes Mal!
