The gyros was delicious, nice and crispy, and finely sliced. A little more tzatziki would have been nice, but otherwise we enjoyed it very much. Card payment was accepted, and dogs are welcome.

The food isn't bad, but there's room for improvement. It's more like the Greek cuisine you'd expect in Germany. However, the staff is incredibly friendly. The location is beautiful and it must be a real highlight in the summer.

The food is very good there, but it's difficult to find a parking space. We parked across the street in a dead-end street.

I always like to start reviews like this with: would I go again or not? Here's a resounding yes, I'd love to go again. We had Greek food three times during our vacation, and without a doubt, this was truly the best! The gyros and the meat skewers were deliciously seasoned and, above all, juicy and not dry. The same goes for the bifteki. The tomato rice was also very tasty. The service staff was very friendly, and the ambiance was lovely. So, quite clearly, I'd love to go back!

I was a guest here for a company party. The table was set in the back room. The ambiance, the acoustics, and the lighting evoked the coziness of a swimming pool. The menu, unlike many other Greek restaurants, offered a surprising variety, especially in the appetizers, lamb, and fish dishes. The taste was truly convincing! Absolutely top-notch! You can tell that they're not just cooking "Greek cuisine" for German expectations, like mountains of pork with liver and fries, but that the kitchen knows what it's doing! Chapeau! I can't judge how different the dining room is from the ambiance of the dining room. Given the quality of the food, it wouldn't matter to me anyway, because it's outstanding! I'd be happy to come back again.

We ate there for the first time on September 7, 2025, based on recommendations from friends. We got our reserved table and menus very quickly. We ordered drinks right away... Then we waited and waited until someone took our next order. Three tables next to us and behind us arrived 10-15 minutes later and had already placed their food orders while we were still waiting. We waited at least 20 minutes. When the tables around us, who arrived later, had already finished their food, we finally got our food after 66 minutes. The food itself was generally very bland. Very bland, and I missed the typical Greek flavor. The fries were okay, but too bland, and the rice was OK and the kids liked it. The tzatziki reminded me more of herb curd because it had a lot of herbs and hardly any garlic. Plus, it was way too little. Maybe 2 tablespoons. The salad plates that come before the main course remained on our table until we paid, even though they were all empty. No one managed to clear them away. Not even when the main course was brought to us. We had actually ordered baked feta cheese as an appetizer, but it came with the main course and wasn't baked, but regular. However, the bill included the baked feta, which we only noticed when we got home. Unfortunately, there was no ouzo to start with, but at least we got some in the end. In general, it was so-so, but we won't be coming back because we didn't like it overall. The two waiters who were in the restaurant that evening were clearly understaffed and could barely keep up. The employees were friendly, though, and they certainly did their best. Maybe we just arrived at the wrong time, but normally, customers are served in order, not randomly. We paid over 110 euros for 2 adults and 2 children, and the menu prices came to around 22 euros.

Super delicious food, large portions, and our dogs were welcome. We even got a table at the edge with plenty of space.

This was our first time picking up food here. We received a warm welcome and a pleasant atmosphere. We were greeted with a "Hello, my friend," which immediately made us feel at home. The food was delicious, fresh, and good. We'd love to come back for another meal!

The ambiance was OK, but the decor could be a bit nicer and more decorative. Relatively loud, and the number of staff was difficult. Unfortunately, we waited almost 30 minutes to take our order. After that, it was relatively quick. Unfortunately, the side salad consisted mostly of iceberg lettuce (a good filler). Main courses were OK. The dining room was quite noisy.

We're on vacation at the coast. Since the beach is often very crowded, we chose this Greek restaurant. We love Greek food and weren't disappointed. Quite the opposite: the very good, tender gyro, a variety of appetizers (also delicious), and friendly and attentive staff. We highly recommend it. We'd gladly go back. Parking is included. Outdoor seating is inviting in good weather like today. Of course, there was also ouzo on the house.

No, I cannot recommend this restaurant. The prices are simply too high. They only offer fries made from mashed potatoes (nothing like decent fries) or a ball of rice. If you want both, you have to pay an additional €4.50. At €18.50 + €4.50 = €23 for a simple gyro. My friend had a plate (88) for €25 (€29.50) with rice and mashed potatoes. The portion was really a joke. We paid three-figure sums and then, oh horror, drove to the kebab shop to get our fill. A Greek restaurant did the trick for us, where you have to pay a lot for everything and then they only serve children's plates. Luckily, we have our regular Greek restaurants where we're still happy. Don't experiment, we'll just cause trouble, and that's why we don't go there to eat.

After a waiter seated us, we waited a good 15 minutes in vain for the menu. So we left the restaurant. The service was a disaster. The food was unrated.

We were there on a Saturday at 7 p.m. We had reserved a table in advance, which hadn't been reserved. Since there were many free tables, it wasn't a problem, but as the visit progressed, it took on a strange aftertaste. The food was really decent compared to other Greek restaurants. The terrace outside is lovely, and children can play in the garden. We were there when it was busy, and unfortunately, the service suffered greatly as a result. We waited a long time for the menu, our order, and our drinks. The wait for the food was perfectly acceptable considering it was busy, but we didn't get what we ordered. The service was super friendly and accommodated our requests, but they weren't fulfilled. So the children were left without ketchup, and our meals were left without the side dish we had specifically ordered. It took away our appetite. Unfortunately, friendliness can't compensate for so many inconveniences. Furthermore, the restrooms were also completely deserted. Toilet paper and paper towels were empty. The prices are too high for an evening like this. Just over €100 for four incomplete meals, empty glasses, and a long wait. I regretted choosing this restaurant. A visit at a less busy time would definitely be more enjoyable.

We're here on vacation and ordered baked gyros with fries and salad. We had four portions in total and paid a three-figure sum. The salad was very fresh, but unfortunately, we were very disappointed with the gyros. It was very tough and dry, and there was very little sauce. When we asked, they gave us more sauce. The fries were cooked well, but unfortunately, they had very little seasoning.

During our vacation on the Baltic Sea, we went to a Greek restaurant for dinner on the first evening. 😀 First of all: We're from the Ruhr area, and finding a good, tasty Greek restaurant there is very, very difficult. You'd think that Greeks would serve us food as delicious as they enjoy it themselves. No, they don't! Not here in Essen and the surrounding area. We were all the more pleased last night. The atmosphere is reminiscent of a larger tavern, like in Greece. The fact that most of the staff are actually Greek makes the whole experience authentic and complete. The selection of dishes is great. You can find standard dishes as well as traditional ones. The value for money is good, as you get generous portions! The quality of the food and the taste were truly outstanding! Truly delicious. And a delicious souvlaki, in particular, is extremely rare in Germany. To finish off, we were treated to ouzo, as usual, but the kids didn't miss out either. They got a "children's ouzo." Greeks love children, you can always tell. And why not? 😀 The only criticism would be that the tzatziki portions are a bit small. Otherwise, we didn't miss anything and had nothing to complain about. We definitely recommend this restaurant!

Hello everyone, we ate in this lovely setting today, July 20, 2025. So, gyros or souvlaki are good. You should stay well away from the shrimp. We sat outside, and within five minutes, the 'mardenflies' came flying towards our food. The fish was tasteless. You could invest that money elsewhere! See for yourself, or do as we did and simply avoid this place.

Best Greek ever.....extremely delicious....gladly again

Following a recommendation from here, we (60+57) chose this lovely restaurant for my husband's 60th birthday. The appetizer platter for two and a main course, in our case lamb, were just right and incredibly delicious. We couldn't have eaten more. The staff were super friendly and attentive. Beautiful surroundings, right on the lake, are absolutely worth recommending in my opinion. If we're ever in the area again, we'll definitely come here. Reservations are recommended, especially for larger groups.

We (a couple aged 66/62) spontaneously stopped by the Kouros restaurant for dinner around 5:30 p.m. on a Sunday. We received a very friendly welcome and were fortunately assigned a free table. The restaurant was already quite busy. We ordered the "Starter for One Person No. 18" and, on the advice of the super-friendly waiter, only one main course, the "Olympic Plate." We shared both dishes. The starter plate was, as the waiter had previously noted, very varied and filling. It also came with a small bowl of bread. We enjoyed the variations on the starter plate very much and would order it again. The subsequent Olympic Plate, which also included a small salad, was also very tasty. The gyros, the souvlaki, and the souzoukaki were well-seasoned and succulently grilled/fried. After both dishes, we were more than full. To finish, we had a glass of ouzo on the house. We really enjoyed our meal at the "Kouros" restaurant. The value for money is absolutely excellent, and our server was super friendly and accommodating. If we're in the area again, we'll definitely eat there again.

The Kouros restaurant in Scharbeutz offers a delicious and extensive selection of Greek dishes. The portions are generous and the quality of the dishes was very good. The location right on the water is really nice and the Greek atmosphere is appealing. However, I found the service to be rather average. While he carried out his duties, I missed the warmth and personal touch that I usually find in Greek restaurants. Even though the restaurant wasn't very busy, we weren't proactively asked for additional drink orders. A small negative point is the somewhat unfortunate entrance to the restaurant, which leads past the toilets and is a bit winding. Although dogs are allowed, it didn't seem like they were particularly welcome. Our dog had to lie under the table the whole time and was not offered water. Prices are in the upper segment, with main courses around 20 euros. There was previously a German restaurant in these premises. Personally, I found the previous atmosphere to be more comfortable and the service was much more attentive. Conclusion: If you value good, rich Greek food in a beautiful waterfront location and are prepared to pay a little more for it, you should be aware that the service is rather reserved and dogs are allowed, but apparently not very welcome. In my opinion, there is still room for improvement in the area of ​​service and access.

This was our third time there, but unfortunately it got worse each time. Yesterday we had a table that was cold. A ventilation in the ceiling could not be regulated according to the operation. Our tables could be moved a bit. It remained cool. Some of the food was too salty. One meal was returned because it was inedible. The new meal took a very long time even though there was nothing going on in the restaurant. For dessert, ice cream scoops were swapped around and some cream was added, even though none was ordered. The restaurant was poorly attended for a Saturday evening (as I said). Card payment was not possible. The previous time there was a fish platter - unfortunately everything came completely from the deep fryer. The vegetables ordered with it weren't that tasty either. Too bad we won't come back.

Oh man, what can you say... When the Kouros finally started after a few delays, we were full of anticipation. Finally a restaurant in town again. This anticipation was then marred by long waiting times and average quality and quantity. After we were there again after a long time, we realized that unfortunately not much has changed. Oh yes, the portion of tzatziki has become smaller and the prices have risen significantly. It's a shame that Kouros is just another tourist restaurant that is OK for tourists but is not suitable as a regular restaurant.

We were there with 4 people plus 2 children. The food was mega. Staff super friendly and helpful. We were asked when we made the reservation whether we needed a high chair. Great Greek atmosphere. We'll be back soon.

1 star only because we got a good seat without a reservation. The two waitresses were abrupt and not particularly friendly. One of them also interrupted our comment that other guests who came after us already had their food on the table, but we had already been waiting for a long time. When the food came, the fries were lukewarm and soggy. After complaining, new ones came without comment and without apology. When we asked the waitress about it again when we were paying, the sentence was "I told the kitchen I had done my work." Overall, the food was not very tasty, bland (the rice) and heavily salted (the meat). For us it was the last time here.

Nice restaurant, good food and after a few teething problems the service was also good. The fact that as a foreign guest you can't pay with a card dampened the mood. Since I only had Swiss francs in cash, I had to collect the euros from my guests in order to pay and then laboriously transfer them back afterwards. Unfortunately, I (we) will not be making a reservation here again. What a shame in 2024!!

We had dinner at Kouros today. Unfortunately, my gyro was burned very badly, so most of it couldn't be eaten.
