Great atmosphere and service, but I was not to impressed by the food. Maybe not my taste.

Great ambience, delicious food and super nice staff

The three of us had a wonderful evening with relaxed and competent service. The food was really great!!!

A bit noisy and the service was nice, but rather stressful on the way - so we experienced the hangover feast, which offers top food and drinks. Not exactly cheap, but very tasty and definitely a recommendation for going out in this former trendy district. Any time!

Definitely a hidden gem! Worth checking out if you can find it 😉

I was there during the Holzmarkt anniversary "20 years of everything and anything" and the place was amazing. Fine section of food, good atmosphere, music and the best people.

Die Qualität des Essens war Top zu einem fairen Preis in tollem Ambiente am Spreeufer und die Kellner*innen freundlich und kompetent. Wir waren rundum zufrieden.

Wunderschöne Location mit toller Terrasse direkt an der Spree. Ausgefalle Aperitifs wie den Katersprizz mit Thymian. Tolle, frische und unglaublich leckere Gerichte mit freundlicher und zugewandter Beratung durch die Chefin selbst, deren Empfehlungen man gern folgen kann.

Unfortunately, during our visit the kitchen wasn't really up to expectations. But maybe the chef was just having a bad day. The employees are very friendly and the place is decorated in a cool way. Definitely worth a visit

Food didn't meet expectations. Service was inattentive and hectic.

The only problem is the lack of Spezi that requires a DYI solution. Other than that, the food was very good, but a bit pricey. Good sight of the river. Service correct.

I am not sure we were actually at katetschmaus, we had a beer by the river which was super pleasant

One of my favourite restaurants in Berlin. Never disappoints. Excellent food quality and service in a unique setting. A regular destination for me and will continue to be.

What a gorgeous setting for dinner, along the Spree. The service was excellent and the dishes prepared with care. The tomato salad had the perfect mix of flavours and the salmon just the right amount of crunchy tasty skin.

After more than one hour waiting I didn't get the food. My waiter said due to a mistake she forgot to send my order to the kitchen. I couldn't believe it, it's never happened to me any time in good restaurants. Not recommend.

I can only give 5 in everything, I would give more if there were more 😊 great atmosphere on the Spree. The food was delicious and the waitress was super friendly!

Ambience is great! And the food was ok too. But you can't repeatedly insult and reprimand a group that spends thousands of euros on an evening. So service was really difficult.

The food was quite average and there were limited vegetarian options. The service was poor and seemed to have an attitude. One of our drinks had a fly in it, and when we asked for a replacement, the server acted as if he needed to prove there was no fly, despite it being clearly visible. All our food arrived at different times, with a 40-minute wait between appetizers and mains. We had to remind the staff about forgotten items, and we were laughed at when requesting to split the bill. Won’t be going there again.

The place and the food were absolutely amazing. The only comment that I have is for the waiter behaviour - when I asked for ice and an ashtray, he replied sarcasticly "Anything else, a massage for example?" 🫤

Excellent experience at Katerschmaus! I had the pleasure of dining at Katerschmaus in Berlin recently and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The ambience is unique and charming, a perfect mix of cozy atmosphere and urban chic. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The food was simply fantastic! Each dish was carefully prepared and the flavors were perfectly balanced. I would particularly like to highlight the creative and innovative combinations that you cannot find on every menu. The presentation of the dishes was also at the highest level. The wine selection was also impressive, and the service staff's recommendations were spot on. Overall, the evening was an absolute highlight and I'm looking forward to coming back soon. Katerschmaus is definitely a must for anyone looking for great food in Berlin!

Ich liebe dieses Restaurant. Neben dem ausgezeichneten Essen und der tollen location, macht der Service und überhaupt das Team vor Ort, den Unterschied. Es ist professionell und herzlich, cool und persönlich gleichzeitig. Es war mir eine Freude mit euch!

Es war alles gut, bis auf das Rauchen am neben uns gestellten Nachbartisch (wir hatten einen klienen Tisch, neben einem anderen kleinen Tisch). Ich finde das beim Essen störend. Da es ein offenes Lokal ist, ist Rauchen erlaubt.

Very nice restaurant. Bit pricy, rather small portions but good taste. Would recommend it anyway. Good place to be in, also the area around is quite cool to explore🙂

Very nicely located restaurant with a great ambience, unfortunately I also have to criticize the female service. We only had something to drink and we were immediately told that we had to get up if guests wanted food... a guest who only had a drink today would definitely eat next time if the service was right...

Mega delicious food. I got the one vegan dish there was. The pickled radishes tasted absolutely fantastic. The cassava was interesting and had a delicious texture and sweet taste, but didn't taste like much more than the delicious sauce that was on the plate. It was the same with tempeh. The asparagus tasted really nice and simple. Good options for wine. The other dishes tasted absolutely fantastic. My food was not 5/5, but the others enjoyed their dishes so much that the food gets 5/5. The service was nice and cozy and calm. The atmosphere was fantastic. So delicious to sit right down by the water.

Coole Location. Essen war sehr lecker. Die vegetarische Austern haben begeistert.

The restaurant is located directly on the Spree, with a terrace right on the water. The atmosphere is made very inviting and cozy by numerous plants, warm lights and tasteful decorations. I had the beef fillet from Emsland. The Emsland beef fillet is tender and juicy, accompanied by a great truffle mousseline that is rich and creamy. The bacon beans add a savory, slightly smoky note, while the jus adds a full-bodied depth. A very harmonious dish.

Solid food and good service. The terrace on the Spree invites you to linger. A highlight, especially in summer!

Unfortunately I had a very bad experience with the service today. Every special request seemed to be too much for the waitress; no anchovies in the Caesar salad seemed to be a big problem. Could I get the side salad in a normal size? Impossible. In general there seemed to be a very tense atmosphere between the kitchen and service. Since we were sitting right next to the kitchen, we were able to see the whole thing really well. And to be honest, I would also expect that if 1 out of 4 Halloumi's that we paid extra for fell on the floor, we would get a replacement. The restaurant was on my list for a long time and I was very disappointed. Please invest in friendly service, then your guests might come back.

Today we got a table at Katerschmaus for the first time with friends who were visiting Berlin (we didn't reserve in advance because it was a spontaneous idea). The service was very friendly and very good at the beginning, but when 2 out of 5 people "only" decided on a salad, the waitress' mood immediately changed ("o-ton: if we had time to order more, that would be nice, they would have." no"). We were speechless...I've never experienced anything like that! The ambience and the food were great, the service at reception was wonderful. The service, however, was not service-oriented or friendly. - Addendum - Thank you very much for the quick, friendly and professional response! The waitress was female, I hope you can clarify it accordingly - it would be a real shame if the great atmosphere and the good food were ultimately remembered in such a way because of unfriendliness.

Food was good, and location is awesome. The service was below average on this day. Not friendly, not able to adapt menus or answer questions and even sarcastic jokes about questions

We had a corporate dinner there and all of the people who ate beef that night got food poisoning. It was terrible experience and affected our business trip.

I went there twice: once on a date and another time with my family. The location on the river is lovely and it is always fun to go through Holzmarket. This restaurant is a wonderful option to go to before, during or after a session at the Katerblau club next door. The food is good and the service is subpar on the gruff side

I don’t think I’ve ever experienced such bad service and rudeness in any restaurant. The last place I would ever go too.

At this somewhat hard to find place the food itself was delicious & artfully prepared. We happily ate every bite of our shared beef tenderloin. Unfortunately the server was unbelievably rude and judgmental about just about everything we ordered. No matter what we ordered she tried to convince us to order something else,including an improbable vegan ceviche (jackfruit).

Der Service ist toll! Und das Essen einfach immer lecker. Dazu einen leckeren Wein an der Spree: was will man mehr.

We had a business dinner at Katerschmaus. Location absolutely top and worth seeing. The service was very friendly, usually quite quick and overall very attentive. In addition, it's not easy on the tongue and at home in the wine list. 😉 The dishes were all creatively prepared and tasted very tasty. Of course everything is priced higher. I found the drinks prices to be quite excessive in some cases (e.g. 0.75 liters of water for 7 euros 🤷. Yes, there is also filtered water for 6 €/person, which we only found out later. Our white wines were also quite expensive). All in all, a successful dinner in a really great atmosphere. We felt comfortable and had fun. Thanks to the team and gladly again 🙏

Super leckeres Essen. Super freundlicher und perfekter Service. Direkt an der Spree und für Terassen-Sitzer war für den Regenfall auch ein Tisch innen reserviert. Das ist eine großartige Idee!

Ich war seit Jahren nicht mehr im Katerschmaus, und war sehr positiv angetan! Es war beim letzten Besuch vor Jahren auch schon sehr sehr gut ,heute war es einfach hervorragend! Alles stimmte, - der Service, die Qualität, die Preise! Ein wunderschöner Platz mitten in der Stadt zum runterkommen, Essen und Drinks genießen und einfach mal die Seele baumeln zu lassen. Mit Sicherheit komme ich wieder und dieses Mal schneller. :)

Jederzeit ! Wieder Nicht nur die Location ist ein ganz besonderer + das Essen auch fantastisch und der Service sehr aufmerksam . Die schlechten Bewertungen sind absolut nicht nachvollziehbar - Unser Abend war gelungen -ein Platz an der Spree mit wirklich sehr gutem Essen und Getränkekarte.

Great location/view, but at the expense of the 'Biergarten Holzmarktperle' as a scene/diversity meeting point, it has been run down to the max. (it used to be quite good), poor service, small menu, high prices... It was worth a last try... But now never again... Then rather the beer garden with the same location, cheaper and self-service... 🤠✌️😉

Went first time to Holzmarkt & absolutely loved it. Kater schmaus is the perfect spot on the river Spree. The team was absolutely lovely, our server was so attentive that she asked us, if we wanted the blinds down when the sun came out. Food was super delicious and we wanted desserts but were too full. Will definitely be back.

1 Stunde gewartet zwischen vor und Haupt speise. Bedienung war sehr schlecht Der Mann hat uns überhaupt nicht seriös genommen, er war sogar frech mit uns.

It was a lovely time I had at Katterschmaus. I recommend sitting on the terrace at sunset! So beautiful with delicious food. The dishes we had were good. I just would have liked a classic raspberry vinaigrette with the oysters. The service was also very nice.

This place is in a lovely location and serve great drinks. The pizza however was average, especially at their price point. One waiter was super rude while the other (I’m guessing it was the owner) was super nice and warm, so service wise it was a toss up. I’m not ruling out visiting again but in that case we’ll try the a la carte menu and definitely make sure we have a nice waiter.

Tolle Location nette Bedienung und tolles Essen und ds direkt n der Spree. Der Eingang ist etwas schwierig zu finden, man wird für's finden aber belohnt.

Super good food and cool atmosphere. Unfortunately, the food took a really long time and the attentiveness of the service was not satisfactory for the type of restaurant.

“Reception” or reprimand from employee “Felix” terribly rude and arrogant. He said that you should please wait at the front and see if you couldn't read. More inappropriate sayings about choosing a seat, such as “You have to die one dead,” followed. This continued throughout the evening, with him running hectically through the restaurant and appearing stressed and short in direct contact and giving the impression of being annoyed. The service and communication with the other staff was all the more friendly and relaxed. Unfortunately the food is a bit overpriced for the quality, but still very good. Unfortunately, you can't seem to get a place directly on the water for two people. Unfortunately the price-performance ratio was not right for us.

Nice location, the food was good, but way too expensive. My arancino came after everyone else had already eaten, unfortunately no excuse, the morels were sandy, simply not acceptable for €34. The first drink came after over 30 Minutes, my colleague had to order each GinTonic twice. The Basil Gin was very good. Unfortunately, for a bill of over €700, it's a place you won't come back to.

The Katerschmaus team prepared a relaxed and perfect wedding celebration and dinner for us at the Spreelunke. You have to like the unconventional atmosphere of the Holzmarkt - our guests were thrilled and felt very comfortable. The food was delicious and the service was super attentive, patient and cooperative. David fulfilled every wish of our guests and the bride and groom with dedication. 5 stars and thanks for the great evening!

I’m always wondering how germans can spoil everything with an awful service. The food was good though, the place itself is nice. But if you pretend to be an higher level place, make an effort to be more friendly and smile to your guests. Don’t make them feel like they bother you with their presence.

We were here at lunchtime. We were immediately told that you were only 'allowed' to sit in certain seats when ordering meals - and in a non-friendly tone. It all took forever, even though we barely had any time, it took us almost an hour to order two drinks and pay.

Staff was super rude. After spending an hour in the restaurant, my partner and myself used to bathroom where we were told rudely ‘this isn’t a public bathroom’. Told her I was a customer and was met with an equally rude response.

Das Essen entspricht nicht der Preisleistung. Die Pommes sind kalt dunkel hart und voll mit Fett. Das Steak war durch gebraten ind voll Fett. Hatte Steak mit Pommes und Salat! 25€…

Manager was disgustingly rude for no reason, apparently bathrooms are only for customers (which I am) and if you deserve to be shouted at for using them (despite paying for drinks there).

Very nice restaurant, right on the water, the food looked great too. Unfortunately, the waitress gave me the impression right from the start that she wanted a different clientele and when we only ordered two salads, she told us straight away that we should eat a pizza somewhere else and come back when we have one want to have a really "fancy evening". For me it was like being kicked out and very unpleasant. If you're planning on spending less than 150 euros, it's better to eat somewhere else.

ABSOLUTELY OVERRATED!! We were here today - as Berliners - for the first time. The location itself is cool, beautifully located by the water, but someone here is worried about umbrellas etc. Today it was sunny despite the sun, but what about when it's 30 degrees? After we found a place whose reservation had expired an hour ago, all we had to do was be patient. We waited forever for the menu, then 25 minutes for our bottle of wine. The guests around us experienced the same scenario. Although the service was nice, it was completely overwhelmed. After what felt like an eternity our food arrived. A salad, a vegan bowl and a tarte flambée. OMG...rarely have I eaten such mediocre food. Are you serious? The wine was mediocre, the food was absolutely not recommended and the service was terrible. For just under €80 a real disappointment when you have to have eaten here. That was the first and last time! The crowning achievement, however, was that the service was sometimes poor due to a lack of staff (it was busy - a holiday, good weather) but the boss sat calmly with his "gang" next door, received preferential treatment and actually talked about new projects and investors: -( Get one thing up and running first before you jump into something new. We would have liked to say something to the boss personally, but he was so busy praising himself that he didn't want to hear what was going on. So sad!! Here You shouldn't invest any more money! Despite the cool cation, we're NOT coming back. Sorry for the team that there was no tip, but there was no reason for it :-( All in all, it's really just a mediocre restaurant Otherwise no one would come back.

ABSOLUT ÜBERBEWERTET!! Wir waren heute - als Berliner-erstmalig hier. Die Location an sich ist cool, schön am Wasser gelegen, aber um Sonnenschirme etc. macht sich hier jemand Gedanken. Heute ging es trotz voller Sonne, aber was ist bei 30 Grad? Nachdem wir einen Platz, dessen Reservierung seit einer Stunde abgelaufen war, gefunden haben, hieß es nur noch Geduld haben. Wir warteten ewig auf die Karte, dann 25 Minuten auf unsere Flasche Wein. Die Gäste um uns herum erfuhren das gleiche Szenario. Obwohl der Service zwar nett war, war er völlig überfordert. Nach einer gefühlten Ewigkeit kam unser Essen. Ein Salat, eine vegane Bowl und ein Flammkuchen. OMG...selten habe ich so ein mittelmäßiges Essen gegessen. Ist das Euer Ernst? Der Wein war mittelmäßig, das Essen absolut nicht empfehlenswert und der Service unter aller "Sau". Für knapp 80 € eine echte Enttäuschung, wo man doch mal hier gegessen haben muss. Das war das erste und das letzte Mal! Die Krönung war jedoch, dass der Service ggf. wegen Personalmangels krachen ging (es war halt voll - Feiertag, gutes Wetter) aber der Chef seelenruhig mit seiner "Gang" nebenan saß, sich bevorzugt behandeln ließ und tatsächlich über neue Projekte und Investoren sprach :-( Bring erstmal das Eine ans Laufen, bevor Du Dich auf Neues stürzt. Gern hätten wir persönlich etwas zum Chef gesagt, aber dieser war so sehr damit beschäftigt sich selbst zu beweihräuchern, dass er das Drumherum nicht mitbekommen wollte. So Traurig!! Hier sollte man kein weiteres Geld investieren! Wir kommen trotz der coolen Kation NICHT wieder. Sorry fürs Team, dass es kein Trinkgeld gab, aber es gab dafür keinen Grund. :-( Alles in allem wirklich ein mittelmäßiges Restaurant, welches sich eigentlich nur an seinem Namen noch hält. Sonst würde wohl niemand wiederkommen.

Totally unique experience. Setting is beautiful right on the river, food is delicious and one of a kind, and the service is warm and kind and welcoming. Two of us went for dinner and had oyster mushrooms (in oyster shells), octopus with lentils, and gorgeous steak. The restaurant is set in a fun and lively outdoor social area, super fun hangout for the warm months.

The place is nice and quieter than the rest of Holzmarkt. However, they confused my drink and charged me the different and more expensive drink. We had no agreed on the price beforehand. They even justified saying that my beverage was out of stock. But again, I did not order that

Das Essen war wirklich ein Traum. Der einzige Kritikpunkt ist, dass es leider immer sehr lange dauerte bis wir die einzelnen Gänge serviert bekommen haben.

Der Besuch im Restaurant Katerschmaus in Berlin war ein kulinarisches Erlebnis der Extraklasse! Von der gemütlichen Atmosphäre bis hin zu den exquisiten Speisen war alles einfach perfekt. Jeder Bissen war ein Genuss für die Sinne, und der Service war erstklassig. Das Highlight war definitiv der atemberaubende Blick aufs Wasser, der das Gesamterlebnis noch unvergesslicher machte. Ein absolutes Muss für Feinschmecker und Genießer!

Cena fantastica in locale molto carino, personale gentile e simpatico, molto professionale. La Creme brûlé è da lacrima ed i piatti in generali sono molto gustosi e ben presentati. Consigliatissimo

The service would have received also 4 stars, but when we arrived, nobody approached us, wise versa, ignored us. Once seated, we were taken very good care of.

Endroit vraiment sympa avec une déco vraiment originale. Les plats sont délicieux et nous n'avons pas eu d'attente. Je recommande ce restaurant.

Four of us were there in the evening. Well attended, reservation required. Very professional and attentive service. Higher price level, but delicious dishes. Had soup, mussels, tagliatelle etc. All recommended. Good, comprehensive wine list, with a nice waitress who recommended a different wine than the one we had selected. We were able to taste both and decided to recommend them.

Every time you visit Berlin you go for a hangover feast. Great food, great service, great wines and a beautiful and relaxed atmosphere right on the Spree.

Got a super nice table by the window facing the river, and we ordered champagne, which we had to ask for twice. Seemed like the restaurant was understaffed. Ate vegan oysters with mushrooms and dressing first. A bit strange, but exciting and good taste. The evening's favorite was the second starter which was fried artichoke, incredibly good and deliciously presented. The main course was decent, but cassava quickly becomes dry and uninteresting, and unfortunately it was here. The overall impression of the food and service was somewhat diminished. It's an expensive restaurant and you expect a lot of things to be in place. Katerschmaus has a lot going for it, in my opinion.

Beautiful location next to the river, in the Holzmarkt. Quirky interior. Some fantastic food, eg the artichoke starter, possibly the best vegan entree I've ever had, absolute bliss. But some not so great - the ravioli just didn't do it for me, my Brother's cod also nothing special apparently.

Look as they say you get what you pay for? Not here though. It’s expensive. Quite nice and I think they try really hard to be excellent. They’re not. The waiter explained our food but the soup was cold and I got a spoon the size of a bowl. Fish was really good, but the rest of the dish was average. Which is ok, but 150 euros for two, (2 course, one glass of wine and two beers) that is not value at all. Shame as the location and ambience is great. They need a shake up if honest. Good luck to them though as they seem nice folks.
