Excellent meal, great on every level 👌👌

We were at the Kashmir Restaurant a few years ago. Back then, the dishes were much more substantial and the service was better. Unfortunately, that has declined somewhat. - The shrimp salad didn't contain any actual shrimp, but rather small, almost burnt mini shrimp. That's not a shrimp salad for us. - The presentation lacked variety, and the mixed salad was limited. - The waiters sometimes didn't take note of what you ordered, so some people got mixed up, which was a bit confusing for guests. Cutlery was distributed incorrectly, and arrangements for the menu were sometimes confused. - Regarding the dishes: The larger dishes with meat, curry, rice, etc. are very tasty, no doubt. But for a price of well over €20, you'd expect larger portions and more attention to detail. We don't want to complain, but we were a bit surprised, as our experience at Kashmir a few years ago was different.

Please make a note about the dishes with coriander; not everyone likes it (e.g., dish 81). Otherwise, everything is prepared super fresh, and the service is quick and friendly. Absolutely reasonable value for money.

Delicious butter chicken, generous portion, naan bread, and the owner is a good Muslim. He gave us tea after the meal. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Definitely our favorite Indian restaurant in Freiburg. They also offer some vegan dishes with delicious fluffy tofu, and some vegetarian dishes can also be prepared vegan upon request.

Good but not exceptional Indian/Pakistani restaurant. Maybe we ordered poorly, but our dishes (baingan ka bharta, paneer tikka masala) were a pretty bland until we asked for some chili and they brought us a small bowl of mint chutney which was very spicy and made everything better. The ambience is nice if a bit worn and shabby. The staff was very attentive. Long menu, lots of options of all kinds. A little pricier than I expected.

Today I ordered from Kashmir Restaurant. Unfortunately, because I was sick in bed, I couldn't come and pick up the food myself (it was the Easter holiday). The manager of the restaurant was so nice that he personally brought the food to me. I was overjoyed and touched by so much deep humanity and warmth. The food was not only incredibly tasty, but also really gave me energy. I would like to thank the Kashmir Restaurant from the bottom of my heart – you not only satisfied my hunger today, but also touched my soul! 😊🙏🏼

I had an absolutely incredible experience at this hotel! From the moment I stepped in, the ambience was warm, elegant, and inviting — perfect for a luxurious dining experience. The Pakistani and Indian cuisine was truly next-level: rich, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Each dish felt authentic, from the spicy biryani to the creamy butter chicken and melt-in-your-mouth kebabs.

Wow, what a great meal! We had vegetable pakora and chicken pakora as a starter and both were very tasty. As a main course, together with naan, the chicken curry - simply heavenly and highly recommended!

This was our second time there and the service was very poor. A long wait for service, a second soda glass was only brought after three requests, the bill could then only be paid inside because no one came outside. 6 tiny scampis for 23.80, and a caipirinha with almost no pitu were also not good. We won't be coming back, it's a shame, once it was good, once it was unacceptable.

After missing Indian food in Freiburg for a month, finding Kashmir Restaurant was a delight! The biryani was aromatic and perfectly spiced, just like home. The staff were warm and welcoming, and the owner chatted with me like an old friend from my hometown. That personal touch made the experience even better. If you're craving authentic Indian flavors in Freiburg, this place is a must-visit!

Enjoy your meal. Nice drinks. Nice service. But a bit loud. You can also be thoroughly evaporated with kitchen smells. Hard chairs/benches. Or did we just end up sitting in the most inconvenient spot in the restaurant by chance?

Ok por dónde empezar, voy a escribir esto en inglés para que más gente lo entienda. No solo me gusta la comida india, me encanta! La comida india nunca debe ser otra cosa que absolutamente deliciosa. He estado en muchos restaurantes indios durante mis viajes, tengo muchos amigos cercanos indios, así que conozco los sabores increíbles de la cocina india. Había leído las críticas, y también había oído de otras personas, incluso de amigos indios, que este restaurante era auténtico y el mejor restaurante indio en Friburgo. Así que tenía grandes expectativas y realmente estaba deseando tener una deliciosa noche... oh bueno, la esperanza es todo lo que tenemos después de todo. Además, por supuesto poco sazonado y poco especiado. Ahora, añadir bolas de jamón de gulab en lugar de hacer kofta adecuado es simplemente grosero. Mi novia ordenó matar a Paneer y eso fue al menos una especie de promedio. El naan estaba bien, parecía salido de un tandoor, y el lasi también estaba bien. De todos modos, tal vez es mi culpa quién sabe, tal vez mis expectativas eran demasiado altas. La gente suele decir que este lugar es muy auténtico, pero por lo que experimenté, una persona india sería insultada. Alu Chana Masala mhhhhhh delicious

I can highly recommend the “Matter Paneer” (homemade fresh cream cheese with green peas). The naan in the previous course as well. There are large portions and even extra rice if you have the leftovers packed up afterwards. Tooop! The only drawback: there is a subtle smell after the visit. But you can eat outside in the summer! :-)

Very nice restaurant, and very tasty food, especially recommended for lunch. Unfortunately, some ingredients have been replaced by cheaper ones, e.g. The bedside table is now rice pudding and there are no longer any vegetables in the curry, e.g. Broccoli. It used to be better.

We have been here many times and have always been very satisfied. Unfortunately we were very disappointed this time. The meat was really tough and unfortunately not really hot.

We had dinner here with friends for our birthday. First impression is boom. Unfortunately too much decoration at first. Too dark. Waiters try hard. The owner walks around in sweatpants and unfortunately he also stinks from his sweat. Food is so-so. Naan is rather thin, almost like tortilla bread. Toilets very unkempt. Sometimes you have the feeling that the owner is shouting at his employees in his own language! Unfortunately not so good. Will probably try it again to get a second opinion.

Where the 4.7 star rating comes from is a mystery to me. Good food and good service is something else. I am a big lover of Indian cuisine, but what I ate today was nothing special and not comparable to the Indian food I have had until today. Hence the 1-2 stars. The service is also to be desired. Three employees at the counter, the boss runs alone while two workers stand there hopeless and clueless and are not allowed to “take care” of anything. When paying we were not asked how we wanted to pay, the amount was entered into the EC terminal and held out to us.

So the food is delicious and the price is right, but my cutlery was strangely dirty... It looked used and it wasn't the cutlery from previous visitors because the table was free and freshly set. Maybe you forgot to replace it? I wanted to bring it up first, but then I took the cutlery from next door. The service is ok, but my friend probably had a number twist because they gave him a different number. He even mentioned the number twice and I was there... But he took it anyway because otherwise it would be a waste and it was still delicious for him.

The atmosphere of the restaurant inside seemed very cozy, but we visited Kashmir on a hot evening and it would have been too warm to eat inside. The service at Kashmir was overall okay, friendly, but not very quick. It took a good 10 minutes for our drinks to arrive, even though only three tables were occupied. The mango lassi didn't taste okay, but it wasn't homemade. According to the menu, the lemonade was supposed to have ginger in it, but the taste wasn't there. There was little flexibility when ordering the food, for example it was not possible to order flatbread instead of rice as a side dish. Our dishes, a grill plate and a chicken dish, tasted okay, but were absolutely not outstanding. Overall, value for money was quite good.

Although outside of the center of Freiburg (40 minutes by public transport) it was absolutely worth a try. Delicious food and drinks and very kind (Kashmiri!) staff. Unfortunately the external area is affected by nearby vehicular traffic but inside it is very well looked after.

The butter chicken was tasty and the sauce made it creamy. Definitely would recommend! Mango Lassi was refreshing but it was a bit expensive.

AMAAAZING RESTAURANT !!! I as an Indian, have lived here for 8 years.... Hands down the best place I have had Indian food! The highlight, they have rose lassi and also veg manchurian ! We had, paneer pakoda, Naan basket, prawn biryani, dal tadka and veg manchurian, ice cream! Everything was superb! You also have 30 Zone right nearby, and can park there !

One of the best places for Indian food in Freiburg! They even make desi spicy food on request 😉 the staff is very welcoming and friendly. They even served us free chai. It was a really sweet gesture and made us feel very special 🥰must visit!!! ☺️☺️

Good Indian food! Most of their dishes are not spicy but the lamb vindaloo was decently spiced and would be enjoyed by Indians looking to find authentic Indian food in Freiburg. The tandoori platter is also great to share. They have samosas and lassi which are nice. The kashmiri tea is awful though. It's just milk with literally no tea in it. Other than that quite delicious. Probably good to get a reservation because it can get busy .

Me gusta mencionarlo porque pasamos por el campus desde el otro lado del camino ferroviario). Nos sentamos afuera en la terraza. El ruido de la carretera está presente y especialmente cuando un autobús pasa. El servicio es rápido y amable.

As someone who lived in London for 2 years, I am very spoiled for Indian food. Kashmir is so far the first restaurant that manages to cook such good Indian cuisine as I am used to in London. Of course the food is tailored to our European palate, but this does not change the excellent taste. If you give the right hint, you'll get it as "spicy" as in the original. Clear recommendation from me and others who have already eaten there. PS: I only eat vegetarian.

The food is really great! This is the second time we've been here and everything is great again. Very friendly service. Perfect Garlic Naan and super delicious Indian curries. We are very happy to have found this Indian restaurant. We'll definitely come back.

We waited a long time to finally be able to order. Of 4 drink orders, 1 came wrong and the last didn't come at all. That took another 15 minutes 🫤 Food was so-so, there was no difference in taste between the different types of meat. The table wasn't cleared for ages even though there was hardly anything going on. Indian tea could no longer be ordered because the kitchen was apparently already closed. Conclusion: once and never again!!!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Kashmir Restaurant in Freiburg im Breisgau, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. Nestled in the heart of the city, Kashmir offers a welcoming ambiance that beautifully combines traditional with modern touches.

Best indian cuisine at Freiburg.

We've eaten there several times and the food has always been delicious. Yesterday, however, the service was a complete disaster. We had booked a table for 5 people but the reservation was lost. The restaurant was completely empty but the waiter sat us down at the only table that hadn't been cleaned (the food from the previous guests was still there) and wasn't set. We waited forever until we could order something to eat and suddenly the plates came but we still hadn't ordered. When the food came we had neither cutlery nor napkins after asking several times, the waiter didn't even notice that the cutlery was missing when he put a new tablecloth on it for us. The service was really subpar, hence only 2 stars (because the food was good)

I’ll start naming the only good thing of this restaurant: ‘the food’. However,here you can’t expect a good service, or a good atmosphere, or a good beverage offer, or, or, or, … it’s a shame that owners’re not able to understand about eating-outside culture. People go outside to enjoy and to relax. BUT, if you’re planning to eat out in Freiburg or generally in Germany, expect to be in stress instead. Once you arrive to a restaurant, you’re told that the kitchen is soon to be closed,that the beer or the white wine is not cold,that they don’t have this or they don’t have that, that they don’t accept cards,that you need to eat as fast as you can, etc. For you to understand what I’m talking about, .. ‘the main waitress here kicked us out when we still had a half bottle of wine to be finished, because they simply wanted to close, (21:30h)’. I wish one day the restaurant’s staff learn how to give a positive welcome to their guests in Germany.

Our absolute favorite Indian. We always come from the surrounding area and love the dishes there. Unfortunately, we were there spontaneously recently at 1:00 p.m. and it was already closed even though they are actually open until 2:00 p.m. We were very disappointed and had to switch to another Indian restaurant, where we were disappointed.

One of the best Indian restaurants I have eaten in my life, without exaggeration, brothers. By God, it is worth a visit. Her rudeness was intolerable, but what was truly outrageous was her blatant attempt to physically shame customers. Such personal attacks were not only demeaning but absolutely disgraceful. The food was good, but apparently the waiter shamed my friend and asked us to go on a diet while eating. Not recommended at all if you are hungry and want to eat a lot. Rude behavior from the staff due to the amount of food we eat.
