Die Bedienungen waren sehr nett. Ps. Ein Schelm wenn man die Google Rezensionen mal anschaut, ob da jeden Tag kritische Rezensionen gelöscht werden lassen? Richtig erbärmlich wenn man nicht mit Kritik umgehen kann. Ist natürlich nicht auf dieses Restaurant bezogen.

Bw-New 03/16/25 : "team" / owner change, runs under the same name, only Cantine has been added and the rating has been taken over from Jim Burrito. Ambience is now also nicely done, modern. Unfortunately it has lost its old charm and spirit. Everyone deserves a start, but if you keep the name, then please keep the recipe. We asked beforehand what had changed in the kitchen, it just meant the concept had been adjusted a bit. OK... Then the big disappointment, I ordered the enchilada (There are no more moles.) Nothing about it was like the old one, bland in taste, it felt like it was only seasoned with Tabasco and tomatoes inside and out, so it only tasted spicy and without a whistle. In addition, it was served cold and also that Tomato sauce tasted like just tomato paste with Tabasco. More like spicy Italian instead of spicy Mexican Size and taste and price are not in proportion. The waitress was courteous and friendly. Please take the reviews seriously and create something beautiful, get inspiration (cookbooks, internet, etc.). Was there again recently after a long time and the quality has really deteriorated, unfortunately. It used to be so good!

I'm kind of sorry to have to say or write this, but unfortunately I don't think the food is that good for my personal taste anymore. I'll rate the enchiladas (both with meat and once the veggie version). It feels like the enchiladas are drowning in tomato paste (not really sauce, but very close to “just” tomato paste). I hardly noticed any cheese there, but maybe Jim Burritos doesn't have any. Unfortunately, the whole meal then tastes exclusively of tomato paste and the other important ingredients are lost. Why not like “before”? :-) The service was ok, just a bit messy and slow, but maybe. It was a stupid day! I can't say much about the ambience, I found it pretty neutral. It didn't particularly blow me away and I think the price-performance ratio is pretty poor.

Unfortunately, a lot was lost after the change of ownership. Unfortunately, the service staff was overwhelmed and completely forgot about our drinks, we only got the food after waiting for more than an hour and, as already described in other reviews, the burritos taste like nothing and there is hardly any rice left in them. The vegetable quesadilla, on the other hand, was good. It's a shame, because the prices have also increased significantly from around €9 to €15.

We were there again after the reopening. After the renovation the ambience looks very nice. Unfortunately the food is no longer what it used to be. The burritos in particular were incredibly good before the reopening. Now these are overpriced and taste boring.

Where is Jim? And why the change of ownership? I was still at the old Jim Burrito in 2023 and 2024. Due to the change in ownership, the room and the sanitary facilities have developed extremely well! A 👍 for that. BUT (like the previous speakers). The food really took off. The burritos back then were really amazing. NOW they are really just run of the mill, dry and hardly taste like anything. And for that 18 euros…. For me, the price/performance ratio is no longer suitable... I would have gladly paid 18 euros for the old Buritto... It's a real shame that the current owner no longer implements the previous business model.

Wir waren jahrelang bei Jim Burrito und gestern nach dem Umbau der Schock.. der quesadilla eine Katastrophe, nur wenig gewürztes Hack , kaum Käse, nicht mal geschnitten. Dazu eine Sourcream wie zu einer Ofenkartoffel, nicht mit Sauerrahm. Mein Burrito 1/3 kleiner als früher für 18,-, quasi nur Hack ohne Geschmack innen. Bohnenmus, Käse, Reis sucht man vergeblich… diese Einrichtung wird uns nicht wieder sehen… und fehlt Loki Magdeburg…

I agree with the other reviewers - since the new owners took over, the quality of the food has drastically declined. Very unfortunate, I used to be a regular at this place.

I was very happy to be back here after three years. Unfortunately, I discovered that the burritos weren't as tasty as I remembered. It seemed like they had shrunk and become flat in taste. Unfortunately, half of the filling was just tasteless rice. But the various chilli sauces that were on the table made the meal edible again. Overall, the price of €15 for the meal wasn't really reasonable.

Unfortunately, since the reopening it can no longer be compared with the original restaurant. Therefore I have corrected my rating from 5 to 2 stars.

We were there spontaneously today and got a spot straight away. The service is really very friendly and accommodating. The food was okay. Somehow our quesadillas looked sad. So when I look at older photos of other visitors, I almost feel jealous. One of the drinks also looked somehow half empty... and the photo was taken before consumption. 😅

The anticipation of the renovation was short-lived. You are greeted by a bright atmosphere, but it is not really cozy/inviting, at least not like before. Unfortunately the Mexican flair is gone. This is not only due to the ambience, but also the food. Unfortunately, the enchilada had more of its origins in Italy than in Mexico. Unfortunately, it tasted like a somewhat spicy, dry, tomato sauce-heavy lasagna. Unfortunately, you can tell that Jim's Burrito has become a canteen — it's not the same anymore. 19€ for an enchilada that is not remotely true to the culture is an imposition. Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend my previous favorite spot. Change and progress are welcomed with open arms, but Jim's burrito has been hollowed out at its core. Too bad!

The food was cold when we got it. I had to return it and they just put it back in the oven for 5 minutes. The prices are so high now and the quality of the food has become poor.

The service was nice, the store looked full, so we thought... it'll be fine. Unfortunately, the burrito for €18 was smaller than a normal kebab and 1/4 only filled with cheese. It's a shame given the price and I wouldn't recommend it

After the change in ownership, it's simply no longer recommended... I had a burrito with seitan and guacamole... 18€ and the seitan tasted really bad (sometimes kind of like pieces of fat). My friend also had one and was just as disappointed. We waited 45 minutes for the two burritos and were asked several times if we had already ordered. What a shame for the store!

Since the reopening, the prices have increased dramatically and the quality of the food has decreased quite a bit, and it also took forever for the food to arrive. Was previously one of my absolute favorite stores, but yesterday will have been my last visit

What happened to the prices? The portions are half as large as before and the price is more than twice as high. The taste was ok, the sauces used to be tastier.

We were there last year before the reopening and thought it was really great. Now that it has reopened, there is a more chic ambience. But unfortunately the food wasn't as good as it used to be and the menu has changed completely. We miss the old cuisine, the old prices and especially the old salsa. 💔

Unfortunately, due to a change of ownership, the food became inedible. The brilliant Mole Publano from before no longer existed. Instead, West German-precariously interpreted versions of Mexican food. The enchilada was a rolled wheat flatbread filled with tomato paste. The service was very friendly.

That was the worst meal I've eaten in a long time. The enchiladas were still cold inside, so even when the food went back and came back, it wasn't warm enough. The Saitan was chewy (I've never experienced this before at Saitan) and the "salsa" was basically just tomato paste with heat that was poured over the enchilada. Otherwise no seasoning, no taste, the taste of the refried beans could only be guessed at. I had asked for my portion to be made without cilantro, what was in it? Coriander. Carelessly prepared and the taste was really bad. Has nothing to do with Mexican food and despite the completely inflated price I didn't finish the portion, it was too bad! The best thing was the guacamole with the nachos and the friendliness of the staff. It's really not worth it at all and the quality won't last long.

Now after the renovation, the burritos have become very small, at most 2/3 compared to before (it doesn't always have to be a lot, but 18 euros for a burrito is definitely more), and they are not quite hot and the taste is now strangely sweet. We were definitely there for the last time, it's a shame, it used to be really great.

We went to Jim Burritos again today after a long time. It was always on our minds to eat the delicious quesadillas and burritos again. This shop has been a constant destination for me for over ten years - be it for quick meals or meeting friends. But today, February 23, 2025, we realized that a lot has changed. I had read the negative reviews but couldn't believe them. Unfortunately, they have confirmed themselves: Jim is no longer there, and with him the delicious food has disappeared. The store's former charm has been lost. The food was carelessly prepared and presented - something, but certainly nothing, that was reminiscent of authentic Mexican cuisine. In the end, not only were we disappointed, but we were still hungry when we paid. I hope the new owner takes the criticism seriously and manages to get the store back on track. Maybe he will be able to bring back the quality and character so that he can not only make a living from it, but also be proud of his cooking.

Wir hatten Lust auf authentisch Mexikanisches Essen und haben aufgrund eines Blogbeitrages entschieden hierher zugehen. Anfangs waren wir positiv überrascht von der gemütlichen Einrichtung. Es ist recht klein und mit mexikanischen Elementen verziert. Die Musik hat leider überhaupt nicht gepasst, es liefen nur Charts und das viel zu laut. Wir haben einen vegetarischen Quesadilla und einen veganen Burrito bestellt. Der Quesadilla war gefüllt mit Grillgemüse, bei welchem wir vor Bestellung gefragt haben, ob Pilze mit drin sind. Dies wurde verneint und gesagt, es sei nur typisches Gemüse, wie Paprika und Zucchini drin. Nach den ersten Bissen haben wir schnell festgestellt, dass das “Grillgemüse” leider nur eine Tiefkühl-Gemüsemischung war, ohne Paprika oder Zucchini, dafür Brokkoli und Möhren. Der Burrito war die einzige vegane Option, hier konnte man wählen ob die Füllung “Grillgemüse”, Tofu, eingelegt Kaktusstreifen oder Seitan sein soll. Es wurde direkt gesagt, dass die Kaktusstreifen und der Seitan aus seien, aber es wurde angeboten eine Mischung aus Tofu und “Grillgemüse” zu machen. Wir waren etwas überrascht, als der Burrito in Papier, beschriftet und auf einem Plastiktablet “serviert” wurde. Geschmeckt hat er leider auch nach nichts. Die Guacamole schien auch nicht selbstgemacht. Quesadilla und Burrito haben jeweils 15€ gekostet, was wir als absolut ungerechtfertigt empfanden. Alles in Allem nicht empfehlenswert.

After the reopening, I was really happy to finally eat here again and was very disappointed. The change in ownership didn't do the store any good. The burritos were smaller and more expensive than before, mine with verdura (grilled vegetables) only had unseasoned frozen vegetables, there was nothing grilled. Some of the rice was still hard and the cheese hadn't melted. It's a real shame, this used to be one of the best shops on the Schanze...😔

What happened here? From the best Mexican in Hamburg with the tastiest quesadillas to a gentrified wannabe Mexican since the reopening 😓 I used to enjoy coming here regularly. Now for the first time since the reopening and it will be the last time. I don't think I've ever seen or eaten such a sad quesadilla... Only a few of the habanero hot sauces survived the change in ownership and still made the quesadilla edible. Unfortunately, the nachos baked with cheese weren't a hit either. Barely warm and only half of the cheese even seemed to melt a little bit. Too bad. Really a shame. Hamburg has lost one of the best Mexicans 😞

Attention change of ownership! My girlfriend and I knew the shop for always delicious Mexican food at fair prices and a cozy, winding atmosphere - but it reopened in February 25 and we unfortunately found that the new owner had not yet been able to live up to previous standards, which we were sorry about because the staff actually left a nice impression. We sat at the table for less than 5 minutes and were asked 2 or 3 times whether we wanted to order something and after we first wanted to look at the menu, we unfortunately had to approach the waitress ourselves after almost half an hour to place our order. But sometimes it happens. The prices have been raised quite a bit, unfortunately you don't notice the increase in the food. Portions remain the same, the food at the next table arrived already cold and so my enchilada was only lukewarm, in some places even cold and the cheese unfortunately wasn't even melted, but still in a sprinkle, like it came from the package. Not bad in terms of taste, but unfortunately not really good either. I would dare to say that I could make something better myself with little effort and even less money - I don't have to go out to eat specifically for that. The menu also lacked alcoholic drinks, which were shown in blue on a black board next to the counter, but were almost impossible to recognize against the background. In general, the atmosphere and the staff seemed a bit helpless, it seemed disorganized and not well coordinated, we kept observing how people stood at a loss behind the counter, while customers looked around, some of them questioning, hoping for service. We also thought that the new room design was a bit disadvantageous; staff and guests had difficulty getting along between tables and counters because there was a lack of space and an overview of the guests. In general, we had the impression that they didn't quite know how to deal with the increasing number of guests to be entertained in the evening. It's a real shame - the shop has potential and has been a great place to get delicious Mexican cuisine in the past. We really hope to have given some tips and wish the owner all the best and much success for the future. I don't think we would come back again in the near future.

Attention: Pictures and reviews come from the previous owner! We were looking forward to eating at Jim Burritos again - but the disappointment was great. For a whopping €15 there was a loveless, tasteless burrito that was significantly smaller than before the reopening. We weren't full. Payment is only possible in cash or via PayPal to “friends and family” – that seems dubious. Overall, you feel like you've been duped here. More expensive, worse and smaller than before – that was a bitter lesson for us. Unfortunately, there is only one hungry star for this.

Until recently it was a very good Mexican in HH in terms of price/performance ratio. Apparently there was a change of ownership... The inside has been renovated - unfortunately all the charm is gone. The authentic, somewhat run-down Mexican design has now been replaced by “wannabe” Temu cushions and pictures, along with mismatched lamps and new armchairs. The new position of the counter is nice for the middle of the room... However, there is a lack of logical planning from front to back. Prices have all increased by €4-6 (food) there is a different selection of drinks and the most important typical Mexican drinks are no longer on the menu. The staff is overwhelmed by the number of tables. The idea that the room at the back was expanded and there are also seats in the hallway is nice, but implemented terribly organizationally. Food was ok. But not the same as before, especially when you consider that the veggie burrito costs €6 more than before. Very unfortunate. But we probably won't come here again in the future. Maybe the new owner should think about how to organize this because it was simply catastrophic with waiting times etc. Staff also had to squeeze through the narrow gaps in the chairs and had obvious problems with tables and order allocation, as well as with billing. The other one just stood behind the counter without helping…. Really a shame. It used to be a really great shop.

Unfortunately quite disappointing. Had enchilada with tofu (there was no seitan), but most of it only tasted like the very spicy tomato sauce. The dish as a whole was lukewarm to cold, the smoked tofu wasn't even fried and the refried beans were quite tasteless. NOT RECOMMENDED! Attention change of ownership since February 1st, 2025! Existing photos in reviews no longer correspond to reality! I had a quesadilla that consisted of a store-bought flatbread with unseasoned store-bought tofu, onions and some cheese as well as indefinable herbs. The quesadilla was only half filled extremely thinly and for €15 it was an absolute disgrace. My partner had a (!!!) small enchilada with meat for €18. This has nothing to do with Mexican food and the prices are completely exorbitant. Won't come back. It's a shame - the store was really good years ago.

Went here on the recommendation of a friend (years since he was here) Had a beef burrito, a hefty price of €18, but maybe I'll be surprised. - Taste solid, not outstanding, not bad. m - Pretty small burrito, I would estimate maybe 60% of a kebab roll. Considering the price, even if everything has become more expensive in 2025, I don't think 18 euros is reasonable for such a small burrito. Service was very nice.

Jim Burrito's is open again! After a renovation break, Jim Burito has reopened in the ski jump since the beginning of February 2025. For this reason we set out to visit the little Mexican in Hamburg again. When you enter the restaurant, you immediately notice the much brighter atmosphere. The rear rooms and the sanitary facilities have also been newly renovated. The welcome from the staff and the service was very friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately, the positive impression was not confirmed by the food served. Unfortunately, the “signature product”, the burrito, is not really recommended. For a price of €18 you get a really small burrito, which was pretty tasteless and in my case only lukewarm. Unfortunately, everyone at our table confirms this impression. The presentation of the burrito on the black tray is still quite boring. At least a few chips or a small bowl of salsa or guacamole would have brightened up this picture (also in terms of taste) and would certainly have been included at a price of €18. The price/performance ratio doesn't fit here at all. Drinks were brought in bottles as usual. Glasses were not offered. There were four of us and we got our burritos without explanation in two stages with a delay of about 10 minutes. That's a shame when you go out to eat together. However, since these were the first days of the new team, this point was not a major point of criticism for us. For us it will therefore be a stay at this visit for the time being and we cannot recommend the restaurant with the new owner. We still wish the Jim Burrito team all the best for their future.

At the beginning of February, after what felt like 5 years, I tried the newly designed store again. Service and ambience nice. The prices were cranked up considerably. Cessadilla €17/19, soft drinks €4.5. The taste was no longer as good as it used to be, and the food was very carelessly prepared. I won't be coming back for a while...

Nice little restaurant, currently under renovation. There were a few seats at the front, there were 13 of us there and we were then taken to the back. The room was a bit strange at first, looked a bit like a slaughterhouse, but the longer you were there, the funnier it became. There was a lot to discover on the walls (pictures). Food was great and too much for many of us. Service was also very nice. I deducted a point for the ambience, although after our tour with Eddy Kante it suited the SM Keller from earlier. But I think after the renovation it will be even better. Thank you for the nice evening.

Small place, but cozy. Food was really tasty and well served. It took a bit long to be served though (around 40min), but we were understandable that they have a small team. There’s plenty of spicy sauces to try at the table, which I found really nice. Only downside is that they only take cash.

Das Restaurant war von aussen unspektakulär und auch innen drinnen hat man den Eindruck es wäre kein Restaurant sondern eine Bar. Dennoch haben uns die Speisen wirklich überzeugt. The food was super delicious, and the people there was really nice. It’s easily the best Mexican restaurant I’ve been to! We also celebrated my sister’s birthday, and they were so kind to bring us a candle for the cake. It made the whole experience even better!

When we are in Hamburg, this is almost a must visit for us! Rustic atmosphere, extensive menu (special requests are happy to be fulfilled), friendly service and very committed owner. Extremely tasty and large portions. Unfortunately there are few seats: it's just on the hill. Limited suitable for children due to the selection (Mexican). Dog friendly, but it is tight. Our dog can handle it, so no problem. Hopefully the boss will soon find reinforcements for the staff so that the opening hours can be expanded again.

Coherent! Rustic atmosphere. Casual friendly service. Particularly delicious food. The drinks are really good and you'll want more... Food is presented to match the ambience and concept and tastes really good. The pier was the best I've had so far. Definitely worth a visit.

At the beginning it's pretty cool, but towards the end it just becomes too much. But still recommended. If you're very hungry, you should snack on a burrito. (too much refried beans)
