Innsteg in Passau

We went to Innsteg for breakfast on Sunday. We had a reservation, but there were no tables available upstairs, so we were seated downstairs. However, we had a wheelchair user with us. This is impossible! ALL the tables are high tables with bar stools, and the wheelchair user cannot eat breakfast there!! It's also far too cramped downstairs; wheelchairs, and even strollers, are in the way. I specifically asked if it was possible to have a wheelchair downstairs, and they confirmed it was, even though I've never been there myself. We ultimately solved it by combining a low table with the high one. The breakfast was delicious! The service was completely overwhelmed. I had hoped they would have tried to find a solution, like swapping tables upstairs? Adding the low table...? Unfortunately, no solution was offered. For other wheelchair users: downstairs is NOT an option!

We were very satisfied. The service was very friendly and attentive, the food tasted great, and the atmosphere was really wonderful.

This was my second time at Innsteg for brunch. The food and service were once again very good and without any complaints. Unfortunately, on both visits, the restrooms were in a horrible state. The toilet seats were smeared with feces and urine. Absolutely disgusting. This problem urgently needs to be addressed, and regular cleaning should be implemented. It leaves a bad taste in the mouth, especially since it wasn't an isolated incident. It also makes you wonder what the kitchen must be like, even though the food itself is really excellent. It was only 10 a.m., and it wasn't very busy. Despite this, the restaurant has a great location and very friendly staff.

I found a parking spot and paid for it, only to arrive at the door hungry and to find it closed (on a Sunday). Google says it's open. There wasn't even a sign on the door. Additional info: Today is also a Sunday shopping day in Passau.

Terrible service. Our reservation wasn't on file, so we were given a table in the corner (good for us, but probably not so good for the server). After 20 minutes of being ignored, we were given the menus with a rather conspicuous waving (very unpleasant). The menu didn't even remotely match what was shown on Google Maps. After another 15 minutes of waiting, the server was again alerted by waving and explained that she didn't know why it hadn't been updated and that it hadn't been updated for several months. Changes are perfectly fine, of course, including price adjustments, but the menu was so inaccurate that we thought we were in the wrong restaurant. It's a shame, the location has potential, but waiting almost 40 minutes without being asked if we wanted a drink is unacceptable. It's extremely frustrating when you're only in Passau for the weekend and have wasted almost 1-2 hours because of this.

Employees were tasting the cocktail that was about to be served. Five people!!!! Some were using the same straw, and only after I intervened was a "new" one prepared. The staff even found it amusing that I was complaining – simply outrageous and disrespectful!!!! The staff seemed unenthusiastic, shuffling around the restaurant, eating in front of guests, and the cooks eating within sight. The spreads were good, but the toast was from a discount store???? Goodbye NEVER again!!! My email to the manager unfortunately went unanswered.

The restaurant is very modern and harmoniously decorated with a beautiful view of the Inn River. There's hardly anything to complain about, except for the service staff. We were served by two different ladies on the two occasions we were there. We only wanted a drink and mentioned that at the beginning, to which the staff replied that it was okay. We were treated so condescendingly and arrogantly on both occasions. We were constantly given suspicious looks. A waiter told us we could choose our seats, then the waitress came and told us to find another seat or explain why we were sitting at the large table. The restaurant was almost empty at the time. We were served unfriendly, without a smile, and with downturned mouths the first and second time. On the second visit, they didn't even make eye contact while speaking. The card reader didn't work, and they claimed it was because of my card and asked if it was even digital 😂. Every time I went there, I felt like I couldn't sit comfortably and was just waiting for me to get up and leave. It's a nice restaurant, but the service doesn't make it worth a second visit. I've never experienced such strange, judgmental, and fussy behavior.

Incredibly unfriendly waitress! You feel immediately unwelcome. Furthermore, the food is unfortunately below average in quality and overpriced.

Great: Team, 5-star breakfast We spontaneously stopped by the Innsteg on a dreary and rainy Sunday (October 5, 2025) to have breakfast. We were almost the first guests and hadn't reserved a table. Nevertheless, we were offered a table. Since we didn't like it that much, I asked if a table with a "view of the Inn" might be available. After some back and forth, we were actually offered a table by the window with a wonderful view, which we could use for about 1.5 hours. We ordered the FANTASTIC breakfast for two. The quantity and quality were simply top-notch. The breakfast included delicious dishes ranging from savory (sausage, cheese, salmon) to sweet (various spreads) and fruity (juice, muesli, fresh fruit). Deliciously and appetizingly arranged on a tiered stand, we were able to snack to our heart's content from three levels and surprise each other with the taste of the amazing food. Of course, there was also a basket of various baked goods for us to enjoy. We tried to "quickly" consume these delicacies, as we only had 1.5 hours and the restaurant was steadily filling up. Our behavior was noticed by the attentive usher. With a wink, she told us there was no need to rush, that the original table reservation had been "postponed," and we could take as much time as we wanted. The young service staff was also always very attentive and fulfilled all our requests promptly. My wife and I felt VERY comfortable with you and would be happy to return. Even though it's a long way from Märkische Schweiz (near Berlin) to Passau. We can "highly" recommend the Innsteg and wish all guests as wonderful a stay with you as we did...

We reserved a table here. Unfortunately, the reservation times offered on the website don't match the restaurant's opening hours at all. We left with only 20 minutes until the restaurant closed for lunch. This should urgently be updated on the website. It's a shame, because the restaurant with its view of the Inn River looked very cozy.

Breakfast at the Innsteg is plentiful and delicious for two. Very nice ambiance with a view of the Inn River. When the restaurant is busy, it can be noisy, but you can still have a conversation. You have to wait a bit for the coffee – there's still room for improvement in the service here.

Three stars only because the service was top-notch—they literally worked their heels off. Completely unsuitable for larger groups, though. Despite pre-ordering, the kitchen was in chaos. A 15-minute wait, complete chaos, and zero organization. In the end, the food (cheese spaetzle) was only average. The ambiance is nice, but the noise level is high.

I was lucky enough to get a table outside without a reservation. The staff was extremely friendly, and the food was excellent. The prices are reasonable. If I'm ever in Passau again, I'll definitely return to the Innsteg.

The breakfast was delicious and varied. There were no boring standard dishes and plenty of vegetarian options too. The service was super friendly and competent. We sat inside because it was cold, but even then it was very nice and you have a direct view of the Inn. I noticed that two of the dishes were missing an ingredient or were incorrect, but it was still delicious. I would just pass the information on to the kitchen staff so that the guests are informed. All in all, I would definitely go back.

It took a while before anyone even came to our table to take our drinks. Shortly before 5:00 p.m., we had to pay quickly, because we asked why, because it's getting cold and dark so quickly. Shortly after 5:00 p.m., we were asked to go inside if we wanted to finish our drinks. We weren't even allowed to sit outside to finish the rest.

Everything was perfect... But!!!!!!!!!! Anyone who asks for a small glass of water to swallow a pill will be completely disappointed. You have to buy a large one. They should take a leaf out of our neighbors' book in Austria. Things like this make people stop coming here. What kind of boss must give orders like that?

We came to have a Matcha Latte and enjoy the terrace overlooking the Inn

Highly recommended lunchtime favorites, they all tasted very good, very attentive service, excellent beer, we liked the Urtyp Helles and Zwickl the best.

Perfect for breakfast, the "Innsteg for 2" is delicious (even enough for 3 people :-) for us), great atmosphere, sitting right on the Inn promenade. Great and fast service! The bagels are also highly recommended, as are the homemade lemonades!

We were only able to have breakfast there the second time. The first time, we arrived at 11:25 a.m., but breakfast finished at 11:30 a.m. The second time, we were successful. We didn't make a reservation, but I highly recommend doing so. We waited 10 minutes for drinks. We received breakfast after 40 minutes. The food was delicious and worth the wait. I recommend the café. The service was very friendly.

The food was excellent! We had the G.O.A.T. salad and the piri-piri chicken. From the outside, the restaurant is unassuming, but inside it has a very pleasant atmosphere with a lovely terrace offering a great view of the Inn River. Very friendly and attentive service. The only minor criticism is the music selection. We were there for over two hours, and the only music playing was Adele. While it was generally fine, some variety would have been nice. 😉

Highly recommended restaurant. The view and ambiance right on the Inn River are amazing. The food was delicious, and the service was excellent. We did end up waiting a little longer for our drinks, but we were there with a larger group. Vegetarians will also find something to eat here. The value for money is also good here. Highly recommended! We had a cordon bleu and a halloumi burger, both of which were very, very good. The service was very friendly and quick, and the wait for the food was absolutely acceptable. We also really liked the option of sitting right by the inn! We'd be happy to come back.

Very nicely located – right on the Inn River. Great terrace, and the indoor seating is also very nice thanks to the large panoramic windows. Staff are very attentive and extremely friendly. Ping is a given – we'd gladly go back anytime.

We had made a reservation for several people, and our table was spacious enough. The welcome was friendly, and there was ample time to peruse the menu before we were asked for our preferences. I had pre-ordered the asparagus cream soup from the current asparagus menu. Unfortunately, the soup was a huge disappointment. Visually appealing, it was far too salty, very thin (far from being a cream soup), and the strips of ham were much too long for the spoon, making it somewhat difficult to eat. For my main course, I decided to try the chicken shawarma and wasn't disappointed. A large portion, excellent sweet potato fries, and beautifully presented. The rest of our group was also satisfied with their meals. The service was very friendly and attentive. Although the restaurant was busy, we didn't have to wait long, and the food arrived almost simultaneously, allowing us all to eat together. I can recommend Innsteg, as there's something for everyone on the menu, including vegans and vegetarians.

Super delicious food and great, friendly service. One star deducted and the management should really think about the toilets! Such disgusting dirty and unhygienic toilets. You only get something like this in public toilets. Please think about it. I hope the kitchen doesn't look like that... but the restaurant itself is nice and clean and is fashionably furnished.

Cozy enjoyment with attentive service in the Innsteg I recently visited the Innsteg in Passau and was overall very happy with my stay. Culinary offer and presentation: There were three different dishes at our table, all equally appealing. I personally had the Red Curry Vegan Bowl, which not only tasted great but was also very creatively prepared. The loving presentation definitely helped the food taste even better. My companion chose the chicken shawarma, which also received positive reviews, and the fresh linguini, which also left a good impression. The waiting time for our food was a pleasant 15-20 minutes, which speaks for the freshness of the dishes. Attentive and prompt service: I would particularly like to highlight the service. Our waitress, whose name I can't remember exactly (I think it was Ailin or Aileen), was extremely attentive and quick. She always kept an eye on our needs and made sure that we felt completely comfortable. Pleasant atmosphere: The atmosphere in the restaurant was pleasantly quiet. At the time of our visit, the Innsteg was estimated to be 20% occupied, which contributed to a relaxed atmosphere and facilitated pleasant conversations. Conclusion: The Innsteg in Passau is definitely worth a visit. The food is delicious and creatively prepared, the service is attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere is pleasant. Beautiful location in Passau! The food is delicious and there's something for everyone! Unfortunately, the service wasn't up to scratch during our visit, and we had to wait a while before we could finally place our order. Nevertheless, we'd be happy to come back :)

We were told there is a new owner on it. The new owner has also changed a few things on the menu, which the restaurant was originally known for. We always enjoyed being there. Well….were.

Been here for the first time since the change of tenant. Ambiance: Beautiful, modern furnishings with comfortable benches. Service: was simply great!!! We were more than satisfied. Here you can tell that the waiter really enjoys his job. As a guest you simply feel welcome. The food, a delight! A big compliment to the kitchen team! The cheesecake in particular is to die for. I haven't had one as good as this one in a long time. So definitely try it! ;) We'll definitely be back! ♡

Top restaurant 😍 really, really nice service, great recommendations and the food was extremely tasty. Great for sitting inside and outside and the atmosphere is great. The price is also completely reasonable.

We had dinner here; a reservation is highly recommended. The starters and desserts were delicious: we shared the portobello mushrooms between the two of us – they were truly amazing. The main courses (falafel bowl, fish and chips) were also good, but a little less impressive. It's a shame the fish and chips came with ketchup instead of malt vinegar. The portions were also large and would have been enough for us even without the starter. The dessert menu lacked options for a smaller dessert. Also: Appropriate labeling on the menu would make it much easier to identify vegetarian and/or vegan dishes! All in all, we were satisfied here and would happily return.

The food was of very high quality and tasty. Paris and Monaco franze were our selection. The accompaniments had the tight max and surf and turf. Changing facilities and high chairs are also available.

The reopening was good! Service is and has always been great but now the food is as it should be again! Breakfast and lunch have been really good so far, especially the PiriPiri chicken.

The best place for breakfast! Great view of the inn, but if you want to sit in the winter garden you need to make a reservation as the place is very popular. Interesting, distinct flavors, very good coffee. I really liked the decor and the staff are always smiling and willing to advise. Everything delicious. Interesting, varied menu, also in terms of prices. The entrance from the street is currently poorly marked and is easy to miss. I visited the place on Sunday around 12 p.m. and then they served two menus - dinner and breakfast. In autumn and winter, the entrance from the Inn is closed and you must enter from the street.

We were there for lunch. The food was very good and the gentleman in service was very friendly, including to the children 👍🏻 What we found very disturbing was the loud, booming German rap. We find this choice of music and at this volume very inappropriate for a restaurant that should appeal to young and old. You could definitely find a slightly less intrusive option here that would make the ambience pleasant for everyone.

Since we celebrated our wedding in the Innsteg, we return to this wonderful place at least once a year to celebrate our special moments. The recent renovation has given the interior a modern, yet inviting and stylish ambience that invites you to linger. The vegan cuisine is particularly noteworthy: the dishes not only taste excellent, but are also extremely filling and creatively prepared - a real treat for the palate! The service is simply excellent: extremely friendly, courteous and characterized by a warmth that is rarely encountered these days. Every visit is an experience for the senses - we are already looking forward to the next time!

Yesterday afternoon I was at the Innsteg with a friend. We received the menu and it showed a “Gypsy Schnitzel”. I asked the waitress about it. In 2024, such a designation should no longer be seen. We then left.

Very very good restaurant! We ate the Piri Piri chicken (pictured) and ox cheeks with fried potatoes instead of spaetzle. The sauces tasted great and the meat was also very tender. The waitresses are friendly and accommodating. Clear recommendation 😊👍🏼

This was the first time we've been here for breakfast in a while since the change of operator. We had conveniently reserved a table online in advance. We then ordered a small acai bowl, Eggs Benedict and an Innsteg breakfast, plus 1 cappuccino, 1 latte macchiato and an orange juice. Everything was at the table quickly and tasted great, both the drinks and the individual components of the breakfast. This was definitely the best breakfast we've had in a long time, it was beautifully presented and the service was super friendly. In the end we paid just over €50 and it was worth every cent. We'd love to come back soon!

We really enjoy coming here and have always been extremely happy with the food. Unfortunately we had on September 19th. three very oversalted dishes, which somewhat marred our otherwise positive experience. I hope the owner addresses the issue with the chef so that the quality we are used to here is maintained. Nevertheless, we really appreciate the restaurant and will happily come back!

The food was very good and there was a great selection and sometimes something different than the standard breakfast! The service was also okay 😊 The view of the river from the glass terrace is of course very beautiful. All in all, we were very satisfied and would come back at any time.

Passau can do it easily and the Innsteg is constantly reinventing itself. Very cool!

Had a great table on the terrace, after ordering we were informed that several products could not be found. But these still have to be taken care of and we will get them later (this was not the case). The Eggs Benedict are not prepared with a brioche bun like on the menu but with simple toast. According to the waiter, this has never been different. Please adjust the map. The waiting time for breakfast was 45 minutes. The toilets were pretty dingy. The entire stay was quite chaotic and still shows some deficits. The super friendly waiter made up for a lot. In the end, the hot drinks were on the house and we will definitely come back and try the rest of the menu and enjoy the great ambience at the Inn.

We went to the new Innsteg with curiosity and our expectations were fully met. Not only was the food delicious and beautiful to look at, but the service staff was also extremely friendly, attentive and quick (even though we were sitting in the far corner, quite hidden). The food came very promptly. A request to modify the dish was immediately accepted and constructively supplemented. Only the berry mix on the bowl wasn't particularly generous. Both dishes were still awesome. And to be honest, it's hard to decide when it comes to the creative card. The Dinzler cappuchino was the perfect temperature, the milk was super creamy, pleasant beans, but overall a bit too strong for my taste - as if the coffee-milk ratio could still be optimized. (constructive criticism at a very high level!) My elderberry spritzer had hardly any taste. But hey, you can totally ignore that. Around 1 p.m., on Wednesday lunchtime, it was lightly attended. We didn't need a reservation. The food and the overall impression were so positive (!!!) that we will definitely come back more often. Because the other dishes also sound so exciting and want to be tried.

We actually wanted to eat there today. However, when we arrived we discovered that there was no parking there. After driving back and forth twice, we decided to go somewhere else.
