Gasthaus zur Freiheit in Passau

Horrible... so far away. The only positive thing is that you can get gas for less in Austria. The room was dirty, dark, and smelled of mold. The towels smelled rotten and were absolutely disgusting... outrageous for the price.

Simple but beautiful. We slept very well and had a great breakfast. We'll definitely be back!

A wonderful host who cares deeply about the well-being of his guests. The location is central…the center can be reached easily by bike in no time. Parking is available directly at the guesthouse. Highly recommended.

Old, unloving and far too expensive for the ambience

Small, charming, and cozy accommodation in the countryside. Simple and straightforward, perfectly located between the forest, the Danube, and the bike path. A very warm and peaceful atmosphere. Insider tip: about 250 meters away on the Austrian side, out of sight and earshot, there's a small gas station where we were able to fill up exceptionally cheaply. Absolutely brilliant! 👍 We arrived very late, but were still warmly welcomed, even at this late hour. 😃 The breakfast was very lovingly prepared and extensive. Thank you so much 😊

It was a fantastic guesthouse, very quiet, peaceful, and located right on the Danube Cycle Path. Everything was lovingly maintained and clean. 👍 The breakfast was delicious. 😋 After asking the super friendly 😃 owner, we even spontaneously got a lovely dinner. Highly recommended for those who prefer privacy and coziness to a mass-market experience. We'll be back.

Absolutely! The landlord is extremely helpful and the location is great for cyclists!

Affordable accommodation, clean and tidy.

For an “extempore” dinner. The host surprised us by conjuring up an amazing meal and the dessert was also a success.

The guesthouse is located directly on the road to the Austrian border and a gas station there. It was therefore very noisy from morning to evening due to heavy traffic. The garden was very neglected, and the garden chairs were rusty. Hot meals were not offered. The bus stop right in front of the guesthouse and the proximity to the Danube are positive aspects.

It has its own charm, it's not luxury, but it has something to it.

Super friendly and accommodating. The vegan breakfast was a highlight. The somewhat "traditional" furnishings were easily overlooked.

A very cozy accommodation with a fairytale beer garden and a super friendly innkeeper. The homemade cheese spaetzle is a clear recommendation :).

Green oasis on the outskirts of the city!

We (wife, dog and I) have stayed in the Pension “Zur Freiheit” several times during our holidays in Passau over the last few years. Great service from start to finish, great flexibility, delicious and rich vegan breakfast, great rustic beer garden (even with fireflies in the evening), lovely host who also knows how to make great cakes and prepare delicious dishes. We felt very comfortable. And we'll be back.

Price/performance ratio doesn't fit at all. Fitter room ok but not for the price. Not again!

Wanted to reserve a room for 2023 49€ with breakfast, parking 2.90€ per day according to the homepage, answer the room now costs 69€ inflation surcharge was the answer. Breakfast should now also cost 8.50€ instead of included. For baked rolls from Lidl and parking space instead of 2.90 now 3.90€ good man, take care of your beer garden then you can increase your prices but for what??;

Sehr nettes und uriges Plätzchen, im Sommer wachsen draußen im Biergarten Walderdbeeren. Es gibt leckere vegetarische Gerichte in einer kleinen aber feinen Auswahl. Die Portionen allerdings sind groß und der Wirt ganz reizend.

Sehr leckerer Kuchen, sehr schöner (Bier-)Garten, sehr angenehme Atmosphäre. Der Besitzer ist sehr freundlich und hat extra eis mit heißen Himbeeren gemacht (:

Ein sehr idyllischer Biergarten. Wir sind per Zufall auf das Gasthaus gekommen. Kleine Auswahl an Gerichten, aber es spricht für die Qualität. Fantastische Desserts! Alles hausgemacht und preiswert. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Poor man was all on his own so the food took quite a long time to come but it was Excellent!!!

Dieses schnuckelige Gasthaus, welches auch Übernachtungsmöglichkeiten bietet, haben wir wegen eines Regenschauers in den Abendstunden besucht. Es bietet preiswerte Getränke und ebenso preiswerte vegetarische Küche an, die man gut im schattenspenden Außenbereich genießen kann. Der freundliche junge Wirt ist auf Zack und sehr freundlich.

Ein echter Geheimtipp, ein sehr aufmerksamer, freundlicher und gleichzeitig unaufdringlicher Gastgeber. Die Zimmer sind tiptop sauber, es gibt einen mega schönen, romantischen Garten und das vegetarisch/vegane Essen ist sehr gut! Wir bekamen sogar ein veganes Frühstück mit allem was das Herz begehrt. Wir waren leider nur auf der Durchreise aber auf unserer einwöchigen Tour durch Deutschland/Tschechien/Österreich/Italien war dies die allerbeste Unterkunft! Absolut empfehlenswert!

Geh alleine schon wegen der für mich in ganz Passau beste vegane Currywurst immer wieder gerne ins Gasthaus zur Freiheit. Sehr schöner Biergarten, leckere vegetarische und vegane Gerichte. Sehr freundlicher Wirt.

Leider keinen Schweinsbraten mehr.

Einfachere, absolut letzte Einkehrmöglichkeit vor der Grenze direkt am Donauradweg. Gut für eine kleine Stärkung.

Top pension. Uitbater Franz zorgt heel goed voor zijn gasten. Eten is perfect.
