Ein Highlight für Passau Besucher. Weinüberrankter Garten nach Wachauertradition. Essen ist spitze, Service sehr nett und aufmerksam. Juni 2026: an meiner Bewertung halte ich fest.

Gastgarten im Innenhof sehr einladend. Die Bestuhlung leider nicht für längeres Sitzen geeignet. Schweinsbraten war nicht der Wahnsinn aber zum Essen. Die Kellner bemüht.

Der Biergarten ist wunderschön und hat schöne private Aufteilungen durch gepflanzte Hecken. So hat man ein eigenes Eckchen, in dem man sich auch bei vielen Gästen gut unterhalten kann. Essen war außerordentlich gut, ich hatte ein Schnitzel, dass vor allem super zart war. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder!

Ein sehr höflicher Empfang. Der Gastgarten mit Weinreben überdacht...ein Traum. Das Essen sehr sehr gut. Lammrückensteak war butterweich, medium gebraten. Hirschschnitzel mit Champignonsauce sehr gut. Ein überaus freundlicher Kellner gab es dann auch noch obendrein. Was will man als Gast mehr.....

Toller alter Stiftskeller mit interessanter Geschichte. Essen ist ausgezeichnet genauso wie der Service. Am besten im Winter einkehren und sich am Feuer wärmen. Man darf sogar selbst nachlegen beim Feuer. Wenn man in Passau ist definitiv eine gute Adresse für köstliches Essen.

Das Essen, hier der Schweinebraten, war schmackhaft, gut gebraten ohne Kruste, leckerer Beilagensalat. Essen wurde schnell serviert. Die Bedienung hatte bei der Klärung, ob ein Beilagensalat mit beim Essen ausgelobt war etwas freundlicher sein können.

Das Backhendl war eine absolute Katastrophe. Bei 22€ würde man meinen, dass man zumindest ein zartes und frisches Hendl mit einer guten Panade bekommt, aber beides waren von schlechter Qualität und ein komplettes Dinnersaster! Statt frisches Hühnerfleisch, bekam ich ein knorpelreiches, zähes Suppenhendl mit einer harten Panade, die bei Anstich sofort vom Fleisch runterging. Der Salat war warm, aber zumindest OK... Der Kartoffelsalat hat genau wie der Efkokartoffelsalat geschmeckt.. Der Service war ok, und die Ambiente auch. Das Lokal ist eine offensichtliche Touristenfalle, die das Erlebnis zu einer traumatischen Erinnerung verwandelt hat. Unglaublich...

Ich hatte das Bärlauch-Schnitzel. Es war hervorragend! ☺️ Service Top, jedoch ist es im Innenbereich sehr laut. Alles in allem, sehr zufriedenstellend.

Tolle alte Räumlichkeiten, schöner Gastgarten, wunderbares Essen und sehr freundliches Servicepersonal. Wir waren im letzten halben Jahr 3 mal hier und es war jedes Mal spitze! Vor allem die Forelle im Weinsud und die flambierteb Palatschinken - ein Traum! Wir kommen wieder!

Diese Bewertung bezieht sich auf meinen zweiten Besuch. Wir saßen in einem sehr schönen Raum im Erdgeschoss. Das Essen war gut und preiswert. Auch das Bier war gut und preisgünstig. Die Bedienung war ausgezeichnet. Bei meinem ersten Besuch war ich im Keller, den ich als sehr heiß und beengt empfand und der mir nicht gefiel. Es ist ein interessanter und historischer Ort, der einen Besuch wert ist.

Das ist ein typisches Lokal für Einheimische. Das Essen war sehr gut. Der Service war hervorragend. Das nette Personal ist noch recht traditionell.

Mit starkem österreichischem Touch, sowohl auf der Speisekarte als auch bei den Weinen eine absolute Empfehlung. Der Service war sehr freundlich und flink. Das Essen schmackhaft und die Portionen sind ausgezeichnet.

Dienstgs war ich dort (24.3) und habe die Champions bekommen. Im Nachang haben sie eine burchschlagende Wirkung erzielt ... Die Remoulade war irgendwie grieslig und ohne Geschmack. Schade. Bin eigentlich besseres von diesm Lokal gewohnt.

Uriges Wirtshaus mit sehr authentischer Einrichtung und gemütlicher Atmosphäre. Der Service war aufmerksam und freundlich. Beim Essen gab es jedoch Licht und Schatten: Der Schweinebraten wurde mit Fertigknödeln serviert, was in einem traditionellen Wirtshaus etwas enttäuschend ist. Das Kalbsschnitzel war leider sehr fettig – bei einem Preis von rund 25 Euro hätte ich hier deutlich mehr Qualität erwartet.

Sehr leckere regionale Gerichte und Biere. Dazu eine aufmerksame und freundliche Bedienung. Surschnitzel und Spanferkel sehr zu empfehlen. Und das Ganze zu fairen Preisen. Absolut empfehlenswert.

Eigentlich ein typisch bayrisches Restaurant mit durchschnittlichen Essen. Allerdings kam der Service ziemlich gestresst rüber, obwohl wenig los war. Was ich eigentlich richtig traurig finde ist, man isst mit 4 Personen für 330 Euro und muss jeden Schnaps bezahlen. Beim jedem Griechen wird ein Ouzo erwartet. Nur beim Deutschen ist man nicht in der Lage mal einen Schnaps zu spendieren

Wir waren heute spontan in Passau und sind dort eingekehrt. Das Essen war sehr gut, das Personal ausgesprochen freundlich. Wir merken uns die Adresse definitiv, falls wir mal wieder in der Gegend sind.

Fünf Worte. Perfektes glutenfreies Wiener Schnitzel.

Empfehle das Schwabentoepfle, den Ziwebelrostbraten und das Hirschschnitzerl mit Spaetzle. Die Dessertkarte sollte man auch ge au unter die Lupe nehmen! Weihnachtliches Zimteis mit Preisel- und anderen Beeren/Fruechten und Schlagsahne - super lecker!

Fantastische, traditionelle deutsche Küche, perfekt zubereitet – von den Vorspeisen über die Hauptgerichte bis hin zu den Desserts. Dazu ein tolles Ambiente und ein freundlicher, aufmerksamer Service.

Ausgezeichnetes, authentisches deutsches Restaurant. Ich habe schon viele Restaurants in Deutschland besucht, und dieses gehört zu den besten. Eine englische Speisekarte ist vorhanden.

Absoluter Insider-Tipp: Tolles Essen, top Service, uriges Ambiente. Kaum Werbung, daher "Augen auf".

Wir hatten gerade ein Familiengeburtstagsessen mit acht Personen – wir können gar nicht genug Gutes über alle Aspekte unseres Essens sagen – Essen, Service und Atmosphäre. Die Gerichte waren für alle Teilnehmer hervorragend – Rehschnitzel, Schweineschnitzel und Schweinshaxe – einfach fantastisch! Vielen Dank für einen unvergesslichen Abend!

Großartiges Essen und tolle Atmosphäre! Wir besuchen Passau schon seit Jahren und kommen immer wieder hierher. Dieses Jahr waren wir innerhalb einer Woche dreimal dort essen! Die Knoblauchcremesuppe ist ein Traum! Gleichbleibend gute Qualität und exzellenter Service.

Ich bin total begeistert von diesem urigen Wirtshaus. Ich bin beruflich öfter in Passau und habe es erst vor kurzem entdeckt, mittlerweile war ich zum zweiten Mal da und werde auch zukünftig wieder kommen. Es gibt bodenständiges, gutes Essen, die Preise sind fair und es schmeckt wirklich hervorragend. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich, alles in allem fühle ich mich hier sehr wohl. Wenn sie in einer größeren Gruppe essen möchten, würde ich aber empfehlen zu reservieren.

Wir haben fast 100 € für zwei Schnitzel, drei Bier und drei kleine Salate bezahlt… und das Personal war auch noch sehr unfreundlich!!! Ich kann das Restaurant absolut nicht empfehlen!!! Es gibt definitiv andere, nette Lokale in Passau!

We had a Sunday lunch reservation for a group of seven, and it was simply lovely at this restaurant. We received a friendly welcome, and even though every table was occupied, our orders were taken with a friendly smile and brought promptly. Everyone in our group raved about the delicious food. Everything was cooked to perfection and seasoned perfectly. This definitely won't be our last visit. Thank you for the excellent culinary service.

We had a lovely evening. Delicious food. The schnitzel, the spaetzle, the venison schnitzel, the Swabian pancake, and the rump steak. Highly recommended. Unfortunately, it smells strongly of pubs, and your clothes definitely need to be aired out afterward. 🙈

A rustic monastery tavern with a lovely beer garden. The menu offers something for every taste. We had the mushrooms and cheese spaetzle for our starter and the suckling pig for our main course. Excellent quality and fresh produce. Very friendly and attentive service. Just how it should be! Highly recommended! We'd gladly return!

Reservations are highly recommended and required. Upon entering the restaurant, we were warmly welcomed and immediately shown to our seats in the wonderful beer garden. A pleasant and cozy outdoor atmosphere. The service staff was always friendly and attentive. The menu also features dishes that aren't available everywhere. My main course, for example, was venison schnitzel. The starter, main course, and dessert were all good. The prices are also reasonable. We will be back to eat in the cellar again when it opens.

We were here for the first time today, with glorious weather and this gorgeous beer garden – simply fantastic. The food was good and the portions were decent. We were also satisfied with the service. The prices are a bit high, but what I didn't like was the side salad, which cost a whopping €6.50. Nevertheless, I highly recommend this place.

A super-beautiful restaurant with a fantastic ambiance – we were lucky enough to sit in the cozy cellar 🥳. The food was excellent, they even offer gluten-free schnitzel, and the portions are really generous. Everyone in our group was very satisfied. The extensive and high-quality wine selection is particularly noteworthy – an absolute must for visitors to Passau 🙏. One small disappointment was the dessert, which didn't quite impress us (especially the white chocolate version – chocolate mouse). The staff was extremely friendly and attentive, and the restaurant is dog-friendly – ​​a nice plus.

September 6, 2025: Unfortunately, the veal schnitzel (after a year of anticipation!!!!) is much darker in color and tastes completely different than before. The meat is also noticeably firmer. The fried potatoes are unfortunately pale and soft. Unlike before. So quite a bit was left on the plate. My drink was again poured 2 cm below the measuring line, just like it had been for all the 20 years before. I was refilled, somewhat reluctantly, upon request! I wonder how many liters are saved per year? Unfortunately, my roast beef with onions wasn't convincing either. We probably won't be visiting this restaurant again in the future (after 25 years). It's a real shame, but other visitors report similar things online. The food has been consistently good over the years. What really annoys me, though, is the fact that the beer glasses are never filled. Instead, they always charge the full price. One of the very few restaurants left in Passau where you can still go. I've been going here for 50 years and have always been satisfied. Excellent cuisine, an extensive menu, an unbeatable ambiance, and excellent service at reasonable prices are what set this monastery apart, not to mention the wonderfully sparkling wines and the fantastic desserts. As far as I know, it's also the only restaurant that lists its employees by name on the menu. That's appreciation! Here's to the next 40 years! Heesters also turned 107.

The restaurant boasts a beautiful courtyard covered in wild vines, as well as a small, winding beer garden, perfect for a pleasant evening. The food highlights include the freshly prepared fish from the restaurant's own farm, which swims in a pond in the courtyard. There's also a large wine selection. Reservations are essential.

Top location in Passau. Upscale Bavarian cuisine in a historic building. The garden, completely overgrown with vines and its niches, is also fantastic. Excellent cuisine with plenty of fresh fish. My appetizer recommendation is the Roman snails, and for dessert, there's the Passau specialty "Schlosserbuam" (a kind of snail), along with many other temptations. Don't forget to try the monastery's own wine. Very good service and a short wait. The prices are appropriate for the service, location, and quality, but not excessive.

Wow what a wonderful experience- this is a real historic hidden local gem. The restaurant itself has been here for hundreds of years (14th century) and has a beautiful interior but it’s the vine-covered courtyard that has the best seats in the house and where you’ll find all the locals. Fluent English spoken and wonderful friendly service. Excellent menu with all the local specialties. The mushroom spaetzel was excellent, but the Vienna schnitzel was the hero dish. Perfection on a plate. Highly recommend booking here (online) as it’s very popular.

Even if the ambiance seems a bit vintage to some, it's simply a great restaurant/beer garden. Excellent cuisine for people who finally love authentic home cooking. And without convenience foods. Extremely friendly servers. It's a pleasure.

The waiter ignored us for about 20 minutes. Finally somebody asked us what our choice was … suddenly this same waiter sat down in the customer area at one of the best tables (boxes) to have his private dinner before leaving. We could not believe this. Then at 21.00 they closed a certain seating area to asking customers … for unknown reasons. Finally our food arrived after we had finished our soup. … the food was cold. A traditional ambience with no respect for customers, no style and most of all no organisation. You can find a lot better in Passau and the nearby Austria (e.g. Weinbeisser in Freinberg). Heilig Geist Stift … sorry, never again. It’s become a tourist trap. Complacency is the beginning of the end

Il due deriva dall'ottimo servizio, che però non basta a sollevare una cena in cui nessuna pietanza è stata preparata espressa (notare la rapidità con cui il cibo è arrivato ad ulteriore prova). Nonostante avessimo ordinato due grandi classici IN SALSA ovvero maialino con crosta croccante e agnello arrosto, le salse sono arrivate versate sopra ma le carni erano state cotte "a secco", poi tutto riscaldato assieme. completamente diverso da quanto ci aspettavamo. la cotoletta con patatine aveva la panatura floscia, probabilmente anch'essa riscaldata o comunque nel migliore dei casi mal fritta. gli spaetzle li ho lasciati quasi tutti, consistenza indicibile. faccio presente che adoriamo il cibo bavarese, non è il commento dell'italiano che ama pizza pasta e mandolino. buone le birre, comunque nella media. confesso che non ho avuto il coraggio di riferire i commenti sul cibo al cameriere perchè è stato di una gentilezza incredibile.

The food is tasty, traditionally Bavarian and of good quality. The beer is highly recommended. We had various Easter specialties that are not on the normal menu. The desserts are also delicious: we tried the Passauer Schlosserbuam and the flambéed apricot pancake. Thanks to the beautiful Easter weather, we were able to enjoy the cozy garden three times. The nice, attentive waiters deserve great praise.

Two Berliners in Passau. Thanks to chance and our taxi driver's brainwave, we were able to enjoy dinner here. Conclusion: Mr. Anton is fantastic. He understands real gastronomy and is also very funny. The food AND the service prompted us to return the next evening. We highly recommend this experience and will definitely be back.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The garlic soup with cretons could be a little more fine-tuned and less viscous 🤔. The roast pork, on the other hand, tastes great, even if the price is no longer quite Bavarian 💰. The warm cabbage and potato salad is homemade and really successful 🥗👌. Overall, a pleasant atmosphere and a harmonious inn - definitely worth a visit! 🍽️🍻

Went on a trip to Passau and of course got hungry. Ambience very nice. The waitresses were all super friendly. After ordering the Wiener Schnitzel and the Viennese onion roast, it didn't take too long for the food to arrive. Both dishes were super tasty. Price performance is simply great. Solid food in a historical ambience

We were there for lunch on October 8th, 2024. We were looked after by old school staff here. We really enjoyed the duck, suckling pig and the baked Emmental cheese. The spray and the juice were also very good. Diet Coke is still served here in glass bottles.

Today I tried to get into the restaurant to the left of the stairs with a wheelchair, luckily I found a nice waiter who showed me the way, you can also get in with a wheelchair, the food was very good, the toilet was also usable for me, so I'll definitely come again
