Very nice restaurant with extensive menu. Very pleasant staff and good choice of various dishes to cater for most palates. Great beer brewed in their own brewery across the road. Would recommend for a nice lunch or dinner

Schade!!!

Took a boat trip on the Barefoot Boat. The upper deck offers good views of the city and the river. It wasn't that crowded either. There were explanations of the most important points via loudspeaker announcements, which were very understandable.

We visited Passau, on recommendation, came here for food in the evening after a day of sightseeing. It didn't disappoint. The staff here are very efficient and friendly. The food is very good, so is the beer. Perhaps the only thing this place didn't have is either a view of Passau or the river(s). But the quality of food and drinks certainly makes up for that.

Preissteigerungen, Personalmangel...alles bekannt.

We took a day trip from Vienna to visit Passau. What an experience! For lunch we had reserved a table here. The food was fantastic! We had the schnitzel and added the mushroom “soup” of the day on top to create a yaeger schnitzel. It was delicious. Our server, Gerhart, was wonderful. He truly added to our dining experience and joked around with us. Highly recommend this restaurant.

We had not been to this restaurant for several years. It was very good then, but it is fantastic now. The interior has been refreshed and modernized, with some parts more a bistro setting and parts more traditional. The service was excellent, knowledgeable and pleasant. The food presentation was actually picturesque. But the best part is the food itself! My schweinhaxen was perfectly done. Crisp on the outside and tender inside. Served with a potato dumpling and a bread dumpling, and an amazing rich brown sauce. My wife’s lava stone grilled chicken was pronounced the best ever. Other family members had the duck, a vegetarian dish and 2 dishes from the kids menu, curry wurst and a traditional schnitzel. All delicious. Prices for these wonderful dishes were excellent. We will be back. In fact, going there again for lunch before our return to the US.

Such a lovely place. We were sitting outside, the atmosphere is great, lovely to sit and get a pint of ice cold Hacklberger Bier in a hot summer day. One of the best beergardens I´ve ever visited, big trees, musicians, everything. Typical bayern cuisine, nice beers, we had a great time. Recommended. I´ll be back for sure.

It was the last day before the November shutdown so everything was pretty quiet but nevertheless, the service was still excellent and the food very very good. Every dish was well prepared and delicious.

I've been here for drinks and dinner a few times now. In general, it's a good place to take guests. It's off the beaten tourist path in the Hacklberg neighborhood, but it's served by a couple of city bus lines that run regularly all day and menus are available in English. (If you don't speak any German, though, this place is going to be a huge pain to get to, even though the bus drops you off and picks you up literally in front of the brewery and this restaurant.) The restaurant was remodelled a few years ago, so it looks Bavarian chic. Food prices are about €9-15 for main courses; beers are in the €3-4 range for half a liter. A lot of Bavarian food requires a longer prep time (roasted meats, etc.) anyway, so the kitchen started on it a while ago and the food generally makes it to your table pretty quickly. There are three or four savory vegetarian dishes but nothing vegan, if I remember correctly. (That's still a win - a lot of really traditional places have, say, rice pudding as the vegetarian option.) Portions are decent; usually the small order of roast pork is enough for me, and last time I was there, the guy friend I was with could not finish his plate of pork knuckle. Beer-wise, I've never been impressed by the flagship Hacklberg Helles beer and locals have been complaining about inconsistent quality in recent years. However, their Zwickl and Dunkles are quite tasty and available at this restaurant. The last time I was there, the drinks menu also listed flights of beer as well as mentioned the possibility of ordering a keg for you to tap yourself (with advance notice). Other than that, the other reason why I'd give this place four stars instead of five is that the restaurant completely ignores Hacklberg's partner brewery Innstadt, which is also brewed across the street. I think Innstadt tastes better, plus it also means that visitors miss out on the chance to try Chabeso, the ur-Sprite - Innstadt is one of two breweries in Germany still licensed to make Chabeso and it also makes a darn fine Radler or Russ. At present, Innstadt and Passau's other big brewery, Löwenbrau, don't really have big, centralized restaurants like this one, so if you want to take guests to a brewery, this is really the only major option in Passau. (Andorfer is so small, just does wheat beer, and is even harder to get to using public transportation, so I'm not including it as an option for most visitors.)

The restaurant is owned by the Hacklberger Brewery which is situated just across the road. Plenty of parking. This is one of Passau's best beer gardens and restaurants. Service was top class and the food arrive hot and of a good sized portion.

The beer flows free (well, not "free") in several varieties, and the food is fun too. Ample portions of spreads and breads, large main courses, traditional desserts - not gourmet fare, but hearty and tasty. The Hacklberger Reindl is a standout - bet you can't finish this platter of roast pork, sausages and dumplings. Courses can be accompanied by beer pairings. And don't miss the soft pretzels, particularly good here. Traditional music in the background, pleasant and prompt service, and a generally good time! Candidly, vegans may not be too happy - this is carnivore territory.

The food is good, the ambience is nice and the prices are reasonable. It's a bit out of the way (best to go by car) but definitely recommended if you are in the mood for Bavarian food.

I have eaten here now a couple of times and on both occasions had a good night. The beer is very good and both times I ordered the Pork Knuckle with all the trimings. The pork knuckle here is probably some of the best I have tried in Bavaria and I have had a few. Good standard fare and reasonably priced. Worth a visit for sure.

Super nice people, great atmosphere. Pizza is good so far, but if you order a Diavolo and like a little more spice, you simply get more colorful oils to go with the oily pizza. This is also available fresh or dried. You should be able to expect pizza for almost 16€ / 30cm. 🤷♂️ Cesar salad was great. Parking is difficult, some walking distance should be planned for a legal person.

One of the worst kebabs I've ever had. No structure at all, bread that is far too limp and a uniform taste. Salad wasn't crunchy and the meat was simply tasteless
