While we were treated very well and the food was excellent, one waiter seemed a bit annoyed. That was a little uncomfortable. But everything else was excellent.

Great shop. We even got free naan bread :)

Great praise! For me, by far the best Indian restaurant in Regensburg. Our favorite dishes are Chicken Tikka and the authentically cooked Chicken Biryani with butter naan. Highly recommended.

We have been visiting Ganesha restaurant for many years, and it has always been one of our favorite places to eat. We were especially excited to try the new lunch buffet they recently started — an all you can eat lunch for just 8.90€. The buffet offered several delicious items with great variety, and every dish was very tasty and full of authentic flavor. It was clear that a lot of care and quality goes into each selection. To top it all off, the complementary Indian masala chai was the perfect finish to a wonderful meal. Highly recommended for anyone looking for fantastic Indian cuisine, excellent value, and consistently great service. We’ll definitely be coming back again soon! 😊

I've been going to the Ganesha restaurant for a long time and recently learned that they have a special Indian buffet at lunchtime where you can eat everything for €8.90. I thoroughly enjoyed the various curries with rice and garlic naan, as well as the different salads. I highly recommend the Ganesha buffet menu if you're looking for something delicious and affordable, especially for lunch!

We tried the lunch menu on a Friday (Mittagstisch, 8.90 €) which was a reasonable offer. The food was tasty and the service was fast.

I am extremely disappointed with this order. The delivery was 1 hour and 30 minutes late — not just 30 minutes, but 1.5 hours. When it finally arrived, the food was ice cold and looked stale, as if it was prepared long ago and just sent after sitting for an hour. Both curries (palak and dal) were overly salty and completely inedible. The naan was the worst part — cold, burnt, black, rock-hard, and bitter. I couldn’t even break it, let alone eat it. This is not the first time — this is the third time I’ve faced the same issue from this place. Clearly, there is no improvement or quality control. Don’t just reply “sorry” — fix your system. Customers deserve fresh, edible food delivered on time. I will not be ordering again unless the quality improves.

We've been going to this Indian restaurant for about 12 years now – and we're always thrilled! The food is always fresh, aromatic, and simply delicious – for us, the best Indian cuisine in all of Regensburg, even the best we've ever tasted anywhere in the world! They recently added a fantastic new feature: an all-you-can-eat buffet at a really fair price. It's a great way to try lots of different dishes. A very authentic Indian restaurant. The lunch buffet was delicious and varied. There were five different hot dishes, including two meat dishes. In addition, there were fries, salad, various sauces, basmati rice, pakora, and naan. I hope I haven't forgotten anything. My highlight was the chicken in mint. At €8.90 for the buffet, the price was more than fair. At the end, I even got a complimentary chai tea. The service was quick and friendly. Ganesha is highly recommended. I will definitely come back.

I had lunch at Ganesha Regensburg today. The all-you-can-eat lunch buffet for €8.90 is delicious, affordable, and has a wide selection. I'll definitely be going there again!

We arrived late by train and happily found this restaurant. Warmly welcomed at 9.30pm, attentively served, including complimentary soup. Each dish was generous portions and delicious. Great value too. Recommended.

I recently spent two weeks in Regensburg, Germany, and during my stay I had the pleasure of dining at Ganesha Restaurant multiple times. Each visit was an absolutely delightful experience! The staff are exceptionally polite, warm, and welcoming. They make you feel right at home the moment you step in. The food is simply outstanding, with a wide variety of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options to choose from. I personally tried several chicken and paneer dishes, all of which were flavorful, authentic, and freshly prepared. The buffet is also impressive, offering an excellent range of dishes to satisfy every palate. What I particularly loved is their thoughtful touches – complimentary soup to start with, and a refreshing cup of tea at the end of the meal, which makes the whole dining experience even more memorable. Prices are very reasonable considering the quality and generous portions. If you are in Regensburg and looking for delicious Indian food with a welcoming atmosphere, I highly recommend Ganesha Restaurant. It’s a place you’ll want to visit more than once!

Bad customer service. Waited 30 minutes to pay my bill.

I would like to warn all review readers of this place that is nothing a money making scheme to cheat people. There are three different buffet prices, and the staff is dishonest and want to cheat you off. The advertising is false. The food is far from having any authentic taste. Purely set up to cheat indian tourists and please white palletes. I would strongly hope you spend your money elsewhere.

After the Ganesha team's response to my last review, I wanted to give it a fair second chance. But this visit showed me: it's no good anymore. I ordered a butter chicken – what I got was a few pieces of chicken in red water, completely flavorless. When I complained about this, all I got was the answer: "Unfortunately, it is what it is – eat or pay and leave." That's not how you speak to guests, especially not to people who have been dining here regularly for many years. In their response, the owners write that they have been running this restaurant alone for 22 years. However, anyone who has known Ganesha since 2005 knows that this isn't true and that other people were involved in the past who made the place what it once was. Those very people are no longer there – and since then, Ganesha has only gone downhill. The many bad reviews are not unfounded: Anyone who remembers the restaurant from the old days will immediately recognize how much quality, taste, and hospitality have been lost. For me this was definitely the last visit.

The food is quite good, especially the cholle bhature. They’re also thoughtful when it comes to spice preferences, offering extra curry to adjust the heat level. However, there’s a noticeable difference in taste between lunch and dinner lunch tends to be less flavorful compared to dinner. This might be due to different cooks, but consistency is key for any restaurant. While it’s a personal choice, calling the food “healthy” might be a stretch, I experienced a noticeable sugar spike after eating. That said, it’s still better than many other places in Regensburg.

Worst restaurant in Regensburg. The customer service is extremely bad, they make you feel so unwelcome and unwanted. We had ordered butter chicken, naan, chicken biryani. There was hardly any flavor and it was just too greasy and sweet. Don't recommend this to anyone. Please change your service staff or at least teach them how to behave with customers.

Went here because I got a chicken mango craving, already tried out this restaurant in Nürnberg and loved it. They gave me a chai latte on the Haus, it was delicious ! 🥰

Butter chicken is my favorite Indian dish, so I can usually tell when it’s well-made — and when it’s not. Unfortunately, this was by far the worst I’ve ever had. It was sour, almost as if it had spoiled. The rest of the dishes ordered by our group of seven were overly salty and underwhelming. To make matters worse, when we asked to pack the leftovers, the staff handed us cheap aluminum containers and told us, quite bluntly, that we’d need to pay €1 per box — which felt unnecessary and frankly embarrassing. The service was also disappointing. The waiter wouldn’t even place the food on the table — instead, he passed the dishes for us to set down ourselves. At the end of the meal, he interrupted our conversation and asked us to hand him the dirty plates. Needless to say, we won’t be coming back.

I am writing to formally complain about a very disappointing and disrespectful experience I had with your delivery service and staff. When the delivery person called me, I simply asked him to come to the doorstep as usual. He rudely responded that he was not allowed to do so. I assured him I would open the door, but instead of cooperating, he began to argue with me, saying he had “lots of orders” and continued speaking in a disrespectful tone. What made this situation even worse was his attitude — I felt that I was not being treated properly, possibly because I am also Indian, and he took me for granted. He even claimed he was from Ganesha Restaurant itself. When I called the restaurant to inform about this issue, the person who answered the phone also spoke in an unfriendly tone. I explained the situation, and he simply said, “I just came right now, I don’t know anything.” This was around 11 Pm so I was surprised — how could he not know what’s happening if he’s handling the phone for the restaurant? Even when I explained how poorly the delivery person behaved, the staff member responded rudely again and asked me what he should do with the delivery guy. That is not my responsibility — my only role was to inform you about the mistreatment. His tone and attitude were again very unprofessional and disrespectful. This entire experience was extremely disappointing and upsetting. I did not expect such poor treatment from both the delivery person and the restaurant team. I am requesting a sincere apology for the rude and unprofessional behaviour shown by both the delivery person and the restaurant staff. I hope appropriate steps are taken to ensure this kind of behaviour does not happen again.

I’ve been eating at Ganesha in Regensburg occasionally for a while—either dining in or ordering online once a month. While the food is generally good and been there multiple times with friends, I’ve had multiple hygiene issues during dine-in visits. On three different occasions, I found hair in my food, specifically in the vegetable paratha (not every time, but it has happened too often to ignore). The first time, I let it go. The second time raised concerns. Today was the third—and what made it worse was the staff’s casual reaction. One of them just said, “It’s not my hair,” even though I hadn’t accused anyone. There was no apology or concern, though they did remove the item from the bill. I’m writing this now because this seems to be a recurring issue, and it feels like hygiene is not taken seriously. I hope the restaurant addresses this properly going forward.

Best indian restaurant in Regensburg.

We went to this restaurant on Sunday. They had a buffet on that day. The buffet offered several varieties of food including desi Chinese like manchurian, hakka noodles etc. Also the waiter was asking us every 10 minutes whether we need something. The Batura was awesome. It also had a large variety of vegetarian options even if a vegetarian wants to try buffet. It is worth it. They also offer complimentary foods like tea, soup and kheer. Also all the foods which should be spicy were not sweet as per Indian taste which is rare in foreign Indian restaurant .To conclude, Highly worth it and the taste was also too awesome with great service. Will be visiting again and again.

I had Chicken Jalfrezi on my first day here in Regensburg and then the following day I had Bindi Masala. Both were delicious and a good portion. They even asked me how spicy I wanted it to be which I thought it’s thoughtful. Definitely recommend this restaurant!

Amazing price for lunch. A large bowl of soup and a drink for €10. With such friendly service, it was a wonderful experience. Oh, I saw the guests serving huge portions that could easily feed two people. To finish, they served a cup of tea that tasted like nothing I'd ever tasted before. A wonderful experience. We were at Ganesha on Monday evening and were very impressed. We often go out for Indian food, previously at other restaurants, and now, thanks to the voucher in the voucher book, we wanted to give Ganesha a try. We've only heard good things about it, and this was fully confirmed. Since some of us are vegetarians, we were curious to see what the selection of vegetarian dishes would be like. We were very pleasantly surprised in this regard, too, as they offer a wide variety. We ordered a Dal Makhni and a Butter Chicken, both served with the typical delicious rice. A garlic naan was also a must. And, above all, we have to say: this one is the best we've ever eaten. As a welcome gift from the kitchen (therefore free), they even brought a delicious soup as a starter, as well as a hot drink after the meal. As for the service, everyone was very friendly and attentive, and the food and drinks were brought very quickly. We would be happy to come back!

Das Essen war hervorragend, wir hatten beide Paneer, in Curry bzw. in Spinat Koriander. Der Reis war toll, Mango Lassi super lecker. Ganz, ganz netter Service. Es gab einen Gruß aus der Küche vorweg und einem Chai hinterher aufs Haus. Wir essen sehr oft indisch und das Essen aber auch der Service waren wirklich aussergewöhnlich.

Was soll ich sagen? Es war einfach nur super. Die Wirtsleute waren sehr zuvorkommend und freundlich. Und dann das Essen, eine wahre Gaumenfreude. Ich habe selten so ein dermaßen gutes Butter Chicken vorgesetzt bekommen. Ein echte Gedicht. Dazu der hausgemachte Fladen. Total lecker. Wir durften auch noch echt indische Schärfe verkosten. Doch das war nichts für uns, aber gut erfahren zu haben, was indische Schärfe bedeutet. Ich empfehle das Ganesha uneingeschränkt weiter und komme sehr gerne wieder. Danke für alles.

Das Restaurant war mir eher zufällig aufgefallen. Als ich mich in meinem Hotel nach dem Restaurant erkundigte, wurde es mir sehr empfohlen. Die Entscheidung dort zu essen war sehr gut. Das Ambiente und die Einrichtung empfand ich als sehr schön und sehr ansprechend. Im Restaurant gibt es u.a. eine sehr schöne Ganesha-Statue, die ich auf Nachfrage auch fotografieren durfte. Das Personal war freundlich. Ich musste nicht warten um meine Bestellung zu machen. Als ich Fragen bzgl. der Gerichte hatte, wurden diese freundlich und ausführlich beantwortet. Das Essen - Vorspeise und Hauptgang - waren sehr lecker und reichlich. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis war sehr gut. Für mich war das Essen im Ganesha in Regensburg ein echtes Highlight. Wenn ich das nächste Mal nach Regensburg komme, werde ich sicher wieder dort essen.

Due to the massive delay in the train, I went to Ganesha relatively late because it is directly opposite the hotel and I had already read very good reviews, especially from students, in preparation. The food was really great, the service was very quick and very nice despite the late hour. I also like the lack of all the exaggerated kitsch that Germans expect in a restaurant. If I end up in Regensburg again, I'll definitely go there again. Thanks for the good food, there were lamb steaks grilled over a wood fire.

The toilet smells "beautiful"... And the smell travels all the way to the tables in the front part of the restaurant 🤢 food is also not good - dishes have nothing to do with an authentic, aromatic Indian curries. Pluses - they offer a little soup as you wait for the main dishes, that was kind and also tasty. Otherwise I do not recommend this place if you're looking for a genuine Indian cuisine

In Regensburg I have already eaten in all the Indian restaurants in the city center. I like it best in Ganesha. Each dish has its own flavor, is freshly prepared and individually seasoned. You also get as much rice as you want and a chai tea on the house after your meal. I'd love to come back. The buffet on Sunday is very varied with constantly changing dishes.

The people are very bad, when you give feedback to improve they start arguing with you saying other guests didn't have a problem and that it's only your problem. Full story: when you order curry, they usually have this round pot with no handle to serve curry, and I wanted to pick it up to pour the last bits. But it was placed on top of a candle lit stand and when I picked the pot one of my fingers accidentally touched the bottom of the pot and it burnt severely. I told them it's better to have a pot that has a handle so that we don't accidentally get hurt. A normal restaurant owner would react by saying sorry for the mishap and take the feedback constructively. But these people were very rude, they didn't even say sorry for what happened, they started to argue with me that it is only my problem and no other guests have an issue, further they added that I am young and I shouldn't have a big problem if I get a small burn, and the chef started showing a very demeaning attitude. I have never seen such behavior shown to customers before. I think there is a good chance they are racist, they would have totally bent down to say sorry if they heard the same thing from a white man. People like this should be taken into legal action for such bad treatment to customers and mistakes in service.

Four of us were there on a Sunday evening and were pleasantly surprised! Soup and Nan on the house and after dinner Cai on the house too. All starters and main courses ordered were excellent, and the hot, warm sauce we ordered was also free. Spicy is actually spicy here, the service is Indian, the toilets too! ;-)
