In de Grund in Otterndorf

Despite a telephone reservation made 4 days in advance, there was no table available. There wasn't even an attempt to find an adequate solution. We were sent away with the statement: That's the way it is now, there's nothing we can do about it... I have never experienced such bad service. But it was a good one. We then found a restaurant where the service was excellent.

I always enjoy coming here. There are delicious, regionally typical fish dishes. The staff is very friendly. In the summer months you should definitely make a reservation as the restaurant on the Medem is very popular.

The food was ok 👌 the ambience was very nice, unfortunately we waited a very long time for our order, a little over 1 hour, which wasn't that nice. Only when we asked if they had forgotten us were we told they had a lot to do, well 1 hour is ambitious in my opinion. We were then offered something on the house, which I found to be very nice.

Solid food with very nice and attentive service in a nice location. Unfortunately, the lady in service was all alone, which led to slightly longer waiting times. The lady can't do anything about it - she really made the best effort - but for the guest it still means waiting time and is therefore mentioned here.

We were there last night and I was very disappointed. The food was okay, but unfortunately a bit expensive. However, service was the biggest problem. Changes to the dishes were not possible at all (for example replacing fries with fried potatoes). If you want a small dessert, you will also be disappointed here. There is a small portion, but only children can order it. Even our suggestion to order the small portion at the large price was rejected. Instead, you should take the large portion and leave half of it. It was possible to pack, but there was only one piece of aluminum foil and you had to pack it yourself. Given the reviews, ambience and prices, I would have liked more for a lovely evening.

If you're a vacationer and want to go out for a mediocre meal that's way too expensive, you've come to the right place. Flexibility is not given, food is not adaptable. Unfortunately also very disappointed with the service. Absolutely unsuitable for vegetarians/vegans.

Very cozy restaurant with a nice outdoor terrace and a direct view of the Medem :-) Unfortunately my turkey meat was far too dry for me, the beans with bacon were tossed in too much fat...but there were great fried potatoes! Friendly service, we'll be back and I'll just eat something different ;-)

Very nice location right on the water. The interior is also very attractive (although the decorations from the last party have not yet been removed). However, we were disappointed with the service. At first there was a bit of a mix-up with our drink order - so far it wasn't dramatic - drinks can be brought quickly. However, the lady explained this by saying that working with new colleagues would not be so easy. However, she had prepared the drinks herself before our eyes. Unfortunately, there was another problem with our food order. The female employee also recorded these. Parts of two dishes were missing. The very committed young colleague brought this to us immediately when we asked and apologized several times. However, one dish was completely missing. Very annoying, even if a side salad was brought after a bit of a wait. Finally the last dish came - and everything tasted very good. What really surprised us that evening, however, was that shortly afterwards the employee asked her younger colleague to call it a day because the collaboration wasn't working. To be honest, we were very surprised because, in our opinion, he was very friendly and attentive and “ironed out” his colleague's mistakes. Later she mentioned several times (at different tables) how difficult the collaboration had been (because it was unusual). In our opinion, the problem that evening was not based on this fact.

Unfortunately, we can't report anything positive at all, according to their website, warm food is served until 8:30 p.m. and at 7:45 p.m. we are informed that the kitchen is already closed and there is only enough left for baked potatoes or currywurst. So that's really no customer service anymore, which is a shame. And that where opening times are until 10 p.m., holidays and weekends.

Very good location on a river. But outside there were old plastic tables without tablecloths. The food was tasty. But it was only served with inexpensive ingredients. But a high price is charged for this.

We had pre-ordered Stint and were really excited. Best quality, senior plates possible, very fast service and elegant ambience.

We celebrated Dad's 89th birthday there and we are thrilled with the ambience, food and friendliness. Matjes and zander fillet are highly recommended. Pork fillet with fried potatoes and princess beans were also very tasty. We'll be back.👍

Nice, pretty restaurant with a good selection of (regional) fish and meat. We had requests for changes to the supplements, which were happily fulfilled at no extra charge. The service employee was courteous and answered our questions about the dishes competently and friendly.

Visit: Saturday evening (family dinner) Highlights: Specialty fish dishes: The restaurant “In de Grund” seems to be a paradise for fish lovers. Particularly noteworthy is the quality of the fish, which was “cooked to perfection”. The preparation was such that it was clear that the fish was fresh and not from the deep fryer. This freshness and quality of preparation seems to be a key advantage of the restaurant. Fully booked restaurant: Despite the restaurant being at full capacity on a Saturday evening, our family received “perfect service”. This speaks for the efficiency and customer orientation of the service staff. Maintaining this kind of service in a fully booked establishment is certainly no easy task and deserves recognition. Repeat visit planned: our desire to eat at "In de Grund" again when we visit the area again underlines the positive experience our family had there. The combination of excellent cuisine and outstanding service left a lasting impression on us. Conclusion: The restaurant "In de Grund" apparently offers an excellent experience for lovers of fish dishes. We had Stek. Everything was seasoned well. My criticism, the food was served on a very cold plate. The meat and side dishes got cold quickly.

Wir waren mit unserer Familie aus Berlin zum Abendessen dort und es hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Tolles Ambiente und leckeres, frisch zubereitetes Essen. Auf jeden Fall eine Empfehlung.

Wir waren dort 2 Abende Essen und waren sehr zufrieden.Ob Fisch - oder Fleischgerichte,es war super lecker.Die Gerichte waren auf den Punkt gegart, geschmacklich sehr gut und auch der Service war hervorragend. Lieben Dank dafür, solche Restaurants braucht es mehr. P S. Man sollte sich frühzeitig einen Platz reservieren, ansonsten ist es Glücksache ob gerade noch etwas frei ist.

Das Lokal ist stilvoll eingerichtet und schafft so ein angenehmes Ambiente. Das Essen war sehr lecker und als Allergikerin war es für mich sehr unkompliziert, ein Gericht auszuwählen.

Schöner Ort direkt an der Medem. Netter Service und Leckeres Essen. Meine Folienkartoffel war sehr lecker nur etwas abgekühlt. Schade aber hat dem Geschmack nichts abgetan. Nuggets sind hausgemacht und sehr lecker. Wir kommen sicher wieder.

Die Bedienung wirkte etwas sehr abwesend. Anscheinend wollte man hier dem Kunden bestellte Beilagen vorenthalten ( Beispiel: zu den meisten Gerichten gehört,laut Speisekarte, ein Beilagen-Salat. Serviert wurde er erst, nachdem wir die Bedienung darauf angesprochen haben. Und anhand der Reaktion, war es absichtlich und nicht vergessen). Dies geschah aber nicht nur bei uns, sondern auch an den Nachbartischen. Aufgrund unserer Nachfrage wurde auch bei den Nachbartischen der Salat nachgereicht. Obwohl das Restaurant nicht ausgebucht wirkte, wurden anscheinend nur die reservierten Tische bedient. Bei uns hat das Restaurant keinen guten Eindruck hinterlassen.

Wir kamen zu sechst ohne Reservierung etwa 10 Minuten vor Küchenschluss an, wurden aber dennoch von freundlichem Personal begrüßt, das uns sofort bediente. Nicht jeder in unserer Gruppe sprach Deutsch, aber das war auch kein Problem, da unsere Kellnerin Englisch sprach! Der Service war ausgezeichnet und das Essen war sehr lecker! Ein siebtes Mitglied unserer Gruppe, das mit der Feuerwehr unterwegs war, erschien 10 Minuten nach Küchenschluss, aber auch das war kein Problem, die Kellnerin nahm trotzdem seine Bestellung auf und versorgte ihn mit Essen! Ich würde dieses Restaurant jedem empfehlen!

Super nice restaurant with great staff and amazing food. We were a table of 7 with 4 adults and 3 kids, as we had a couple visiting us from Canada. We had no problems finding a table and were seated right away. The staff were friendly and attentive. I had arrived later than the rest of my table as I had a callout with the Feuerwehr I volunteer with, so the kitchen was officially closed by the time I got there. Amazingly they allowed me to order and had my meal arrive at the same time as the rest of my table. The waitress suffered through my lousy German, and had no problem switching to English when I struggled. Although, as I am trying to learn the language, it is usually better to let me suffer and figured things out, but I do understand that others want to practice their English as well. Great time and I highly recommend this restaurant and we will be back.

Eine sehr gepflegte Gaststätte eine nette und freundliche Atmosphäre, hier fühlt man sich wohl, man konnte aber sehen, dass die Inhaberin gute Turnschuhe brauchte, so schnell flitzt sie hin und her, trotzdem ist sie sehr nett geblieben und hat sich den Stress nicht anmerken lassen, Hut ab.Das Essen war von der Ofenkartoffel bis zum Rumsteak top, beim Vorsalat war ein heller Dressing der irgendwie nach wenig schmeckte, die Ofenkartoffel war mit viel Kräuterquark serviert worden, was ich extra erwähne weil man sonst immer viel zu wenig bekommt , ich hatte sogar noch etwas übrig.Sehr zu empfehlen weiter so, Gemecker auf hohem Niveau;)

Just happened to see this restaurant while walking by on the bridge and glad we did! Friendly staff, everything was fantastic, and very reasonable! Excellent fish selection. The patio was perfect!
