The food was delicious, but the service wasn't great. There were very long waits for the food even though it wasn't crowded. Otherwise, everything was perfect. 👍🏻

My wife surprised me with a birthday treat at Ahoi Steffen Henssler's restaurant. The surprise was a complete success. Thank you to the staff, thank you to the kitchen, and thank you for everything. We arrived in the afternoon to check out the venue for our evening. We enjoyed a mulled wine, which was especially delicious. The restaurant manager personally greeted and served us – truly wonderful. I was really looking forward to the evening. After the delicious mulled wine, my wife and I walked to the Christmas market in Otterndorf since we had plenty of time before 7:00 pm. As we didn't want to spend hours in Otterndorf, we returned to Ahoi at 4:30 pm. The restaurant manager had no problem with us being two hours early. We found a nice spot, received the menus, and the show began. A delicious Bavarian Helles to start, followed by a fantastic sweet potato and coconut soup with chili and two crispy shrimp – a true explosion of flavor. The main course was duck with two potato dumplings and red cabbage, just like Grandma used to make. Our palates haven't had to process such delicious food in a long time. Thank you to the kitchen. Please keep it up, you're fantastic! Since it was a birthday present from my wife, the restaurant manager knew about it, and I was allowed to choose a Longdrink Idea Cocktail 🍸. When I asked if eggnog was an option, and since my wife loves eggnog but only a special kind, I ordered two special eggnogs, and I went crazy—it was such a delicious drink...help! How and why? So I had to order two more, which the staff had to process because, as I already mentioned, I was practically losing my mind over the taste. End of story: It was a fascinating experience, and we will definitely be back in the summer. Thanks again to the whole team and especially to the restaurant manager. Fantastic restaurant with incredibly friendly staff. It was a birthday present for my husband, and we were absolutely thrilled. We chose the winter menu with the duck. The duck was cooked to perfection with delicious dumplings and red cabbage. It tasted amazing. We also ordered the sweet potato and coconut soup with two crispy shrimp. I don't usually like sweet potatoes, but the soup was fantastic. We were delighted with the beer selection (even a light beer! :) We lived in the Allgäu region for five years, so it was a real treat to find it on offer). After dinner, we each had an espresso, which was also perfectly served (espresso is often served lukewarm, but here it was hot and delicious). The highlight at the end (recommended by the friendly waiter) was the special eggnog. My husband isn't usually a fan of eggnog... but we immediately ordered a second one! We thought the whole evening was wonderful. We'll definitely be back. Thank you for the lovely evening, and please keep up the great service, as it's not something you can take for granted these days. These two gentlemen do their job perfectly and with passion, you can tell. So please always be nice to them ;)

The food is always a delight... Our waiter Joey was very friendly but not intrusive! It was a wonderful evening! We'd love to come back again.

We ate there several times. The food was always delicious, and we always felt very comfortable. Waiter Joey played a big part in that. The young man is incredibly friendly, charming, and attentive; quick-witted, funny, and always there when you need him.

The location is really cool and the view is great, as is the ambiance. However, we didn't find the price-performance ratio to be right. For a burger costing over €20, we expected more than just a palatable one. The fish and chips were dry and the breading was too thick (pre-made). The pink salt edamame were served rather unfortunately – in a bowl with too much salt. You can eat decently there, but the name Steffen Henssler simply raises different expectations. I think it wouldn't even live up to his own standards. We've eaten elsewhere for €10 less and the same quality!

Restaurant located right on the water. The menu is concise, but there's something for everyone. Everything is freshly prepared. Our server, Joey, was extremely friendly and helpful.

The waiter was very professional and clearly passionate about his job, which I really appreciated. Reservations can be made easily via "OpenTable". He offered excellent advice on food choices, explaining and describing everything so clearly that I had no trouble deciding. The food was both delicious and beautifully presented! Prices were moderate. Dogs are welcome! Everything is also done to accommodate children (supervised). A fantastic location. I can't comment on the view, as it was already evening and dark. I was there for a short break and would love to come back.

It was pretty good overall, but the price-performance ratio is quite steep for fish and chips; 16 euros is quite expensive, but then again, Steffen Henssler's name is behind it.

First, we enjoyed the autumn sun on the terrace overlooking the Elbe River. Following the recommendation of the friendly manager, "Tom," we enjoyed an Oberbräu Hell on tap. Tom is a real character whose friendly manner added a personal touch to our restaurant visit. Thank you for that. We then thoroughly enjoyed dinner at the restaurant. There was nothing to complain about. The crunchy chicken burger is highly recommended. Conclusion: We enjoyed our stay and will be back. It's been a year since our last visit. The food and drinks are still of good quality. This time, I would like to specifically highlight the service. The friendliness and professionalism of Enya, in particular, but also of her colleagues, is a real asset to the restaurant!

I can recommend this place for its ambiance and the view. It has a great view of the sailing ship harbor and the sea. The food was unfortunately nothing more than average. However, the food is beautifully presented. The fries were too hard, and the fried fish also seemed overcooked. The service is really good, and the server was very nice. I personally would prefer other types of beer that are more related to the sea. The prices are okay, although I think they're a bit high.

We eat at Henssler's in Ahoi every year. For lunch, we enjoy delicious fish and chips, Henssler style. In the afternoon, we have coffee and cake, which is also highly recommended.

Yes, we can recommend this place! We booked a table online at short notice and even accommodated our special request for a quiet corner for our dogs. The food was absolutely delicious. We haven't had better fries anywhere. The schnitzel was amazing, and the pan-fried fish with potato pancakes from the specials menu was also fantastic. We were there yesterday, Saturday, at 6:30 p.m. and had reserved a table in advance, which was the right decision. The restaurant was noticeably filling up. The staff were all very accommodating and friendly, and they checked in several times throughout our visit to see if we were satisfied. Our order was taken quickly, the drinks arrived quickly, and the wait for the food was short. We had fish and chips, and they were very good. We liked the 'Henssler-style' fries and tartar sauce. Of course, the prices here are higher than at some of the fish stalls around the corner, but the quality and the more unique style justify it. Bringing our dog was no problem either. The ambiance is quite nice, but the many bare walls covered in graffiti and the concrete ceiling make it extremely loud, as there is no soundproofing. This makes it very difficult to have a conversation, and we didn't feel like we wanted to linger for long, which is a real shame. It was also extremely warm in the restaurant. We actually wanted to have a few more cocktails, but ended up leaving right after dinner. Since the service and food were really top-notch, we would definitely come back if we're in Otterndorf again.

Contrary to reports to the contrary, you can easily pay by card. Excellent food (tuna bowl and tuna steak), friendly service, and a top location.

We went out to eat with our two dogs on the evening of August 24th. Really nice and friendly staff, and the dogs were given a large bowl of water right away. It wasn't our first time eating at Ahoi in Hamburg; we've eaten there a few times. But here it was truly hygge. The food was excellent, as always. We'd love to come back. It's simply fantastic.

The Hamburg pan-fried fish at Ahoi is absolutely fantastic, but the portion is only suitable for a small appetite! The truly fabulous ice cream parlor after the meal is highly recommended. The restaurant is in a stunning location with a view of the Elbe River and the passing ships. Unfortunately, the decor is a bit reminiscent of American restaurant chains. I find the display case full of Henssler products in a prominent position in the dining room downright embarrassing.

A non-guest was denied access to the restroom in the morning (breakfast time). This isn't a good place to eat, as we were planning to eat there an hour later. NO WAY!

Mixed impression. Since it's the only restaurant right on the water, apart from the beach bar, we tried it out. The terrace is nice and large, and the view is truly beautiful. The waitresses were all very friendly and helpful. There was no card payment option, which somewhat diminished the experience. Unfortunately, the cleanliness wasn't great either. The tables had lots of drink stains, some of them sticky. The floors in the restrooms were dirty, with a lot of paper on the floor. In the women's restroom, the hand sanitizer dispensers and other items were very dusty; they hadn't been wiped down in a while... The plant pots were all neglected. The food was good, but no better than at other beach restaurants. The prices were reasonable, though. Overall, we were a bit disappointed and probably wouldn't go back again.

The rooms were great, with only one drawback: there was a draft everywhere and it was quite loud. We found Otterndorf nicer than Hamburg. We were here again. This time there were four of us. It was fantastic! We were here late on a Wednesday afternoon at the beginning of August 2025. After consistently having nothing but bad experiences in Otterndorf, where all the cafés we visited were either closed or the ones that were open were out of stock, our evening stop at Ahoi was a truly, truly ray of hope. It absolutely worked and helped restore our peace with Otterndorf! We had made a reservation for 6:00 PM. Because of the aforementioned bad experiences, we arrived by 5:00 PM. We were welcomed by "Caylan," and he was a true ray of hope, because he "pulled everything out," he completely turned things around for us, so that we still had a super-wonderful day in Otterndorf: He welcomed us as if he'd been waiting especially for us, he said he'd reserved a wonderful table for us, and if we were even an hour early, it wouldn't be a problem at all, he would make our time entertaining! And this young "man" was only a very young 20 years old! Where did he get the "chutzpah" to act so confidently and completely openly toward us – yet 200% service-oriented? He has it in his blood, it's his character, it continued throughout the evening, and he kept adding little gestures/(special acts of attention) that enveloped us in a warm and comforting way that evening! The food was once again – as usual – fantastic!!! We ate four different dishes and drank four different drinks. I actually chose the main course I'd requested here on this platform last year, and I was completely satisfied, because I'd never had anything so tender, precise, delicate, competent, and harmonious anywhere else before: "Tuna as a main course." And, I also tried the "Classic" terryaki sauce for the first time—a brand-new dish—and it's even better than our favorite terryaki sauces at home. We immediately bought some and brought some back with us! An absolute recommendation!!!!! We'd be happy to go back every time!!!! We also warmly recommended it to other vacationers during our vacation, and they definitely recommend "Ahoi" as their next destination!!!!! 2024: We ate at the restaurant with six people: dinner. The house stands completely isolated, so you could really make full use of the incredibly spacious window fronts – almost all the way around. We had a table reserved and got a corner table facing the sea, which meant we had two large, full-width windows entirely at our disposal, to our delight. One large window facing the sea, so we could see all the large ships gliding by, and one large window facing the incredibly beautiful sunset, which we could also watch without interruption. The fries were absolutely amazing; they were and are nowhere better!!! Very tasty food, with a certain "extra" flavor! The reservation worked out perfectly. The table was perfect. The view was GREAT! The service was good. The food was delicious. One request: The tuna/(sashimi), which is only available as an appetizer – in a very small portion – should please also be available in a larger, main course! ``` We can definitely recommend this restaurant, and we do so here! And, for us, too, it's definitely true: "We'd be happy to come back anytime!"

It was always good and very friendly. Now the winter menu is back, and with it the delicious fish dishes. Today I treated myself to the salmon with baked potatoes again. Super delicious 😋 We were quite disappointed today. Reserved a table for four people. 8:15 PM We were super punctual. We had to wait a bit at the entrance, even though it was very empty. Then we were told the kitchen was closed. But that was sorted out. Considering we were apparently very late, it took a very long time to take our order. Drinks took a long time. Two out of four only arrived after the third reminder. Food was good. It was also beautifully presented. An espresso, which we ordered at the server's request, never arrived. No one came to pay either. We had to pay at the counter. It was very unusual... I'm definitely used to better.

A beautiful restaurant, surrounded by water and nature. The food is incredibly delicious, the service is exceptionally attentive and friendly, and you simply feel at home there. We will dine there again.

First of all, we have to commend the very friendly and accommodating staff who welcomed us. Also worth mentioning is the beautifully located restaurant. The main reason for the visit was, of course, the food, and it was the best fried fish I've ever eaten. A super delicious meal at a fair price, served by a very friendly staff!!! Whether it says Henssler or not...it doesn't matter to me at all. The food was good, the service very attentive (the waiters were very dedicated). The prices were hmm...well...I'm used to something a bit cheaper, but it was still okay. If the time and place work out again, we'll go back.
