I can recommend this place for its ambiance and the view. It has a great view of the sailing ship harbor and the sea. The food was unfortunately nothing more than average. However, the food is beautifully presented. The fries were too hard, and the fried fish also seemed overcooked. The service is really good, and the server was very nice. I personally would prefer other types of beer that are more related to the sea. The prices are okay, although I think they're a bit high.

We eat at Henssler's in Ahoi every year. For lunch, we enjoy delicious fish and chips, Henssler style. In the afternoon, we have coffee and cake, which is also highly recommended.

We were there yesterday, Saturday, at 6:30 p.m. and had reserved a table in advance, which was the right decision. The restaurant was noticeably filling up. The staff were all very accommodating and friendly, and they checked in several times throughout our visit to see if we were satisfied. Our order was taken quickly, the drinks arrived quickly, and the wait for the food was short. We had fish and chips, and they were very good. We liked the 'Henssler-style' fries and tartar sauce. Of course, the prices here are higher than at some of the fish stalls around the corner, but the quality and the more unique style justify it. Bringing our dog was no problem either. The ambiance is quite nice, but the many bare walls covered in graffiti and the concrete ceiling make it extremely loud, as there is no soundproofing. This makes it very difficult to have a conversation, and we didn't feel like we wanted to linger for long, which is a real shame. It was also extremely warm in the restaurant. We actually wanted to have a few more cocktails, but ended up leaving right after dinner. Since the service and food were really top-notch, we would definitely come back if we're in Otterndorf again.

Yes, we can recommend this place! We booked a table online at short notice and even accommodated our special request for a quiet corner for our dogs. The food was absolutely delicious. We haven't had better fries anywhere. The schnitzel was amazing, and the pan-fried fish with potato pancakes from the specials menu was also fantastic. While we were having dessert, an Aida cruise passed by... We'll be back

The Hamburg pan-fried fish at Ahoi is absolutely fantastic, but the portion is only suitable for a small appetite! The truly fabulous ice cream parlor after the meal is highly recommended. The restaurant is in a stunning location with a view of the Elbe River and the passing ships. Unfortunately, the decor is a bit reminiscent of American restaurant chains. I find the display case full of Henssler products in a prominent position in the dining room downright embarrassing.

We went out to eat with our two dogs on the evening of August 24th. Really nice and friendly staff, and the dogs were given a large bowl of water right away. It wasn't our first time eating at Ahoi in Hamburg; we've eaten there a few times. But here it was truly hygge. The food was excellent, as always. We'd love to come back. It's simply fantastic.

I can only agree with the previous reviewers. The food was delicious, simple, yet special. The waitresses are very young, and their relaxed and humorous manner made the visit a successful evening.

A non-guest was denied access to the restroom in the morning (breakfast time). This isn't a good place to eat, as we were planning to eat there an hour later. NO WAY!

Mixed impression. Since it's the only restaurant right on the water, apart from the beach bar, we tried it out. The terrace is nice and large, and the view is truly beautiful. The waitresses were all very friendly and helpful. There was no card payment option, which somewhat diminished the experience. Unfortunately, the cleanliness wasn't great either. The tables had lots of drink stains, some of them sticky. The floors in the restrooms were dirty, with a lot of paper on the floor. In the women's restroom, the hand sanitizer dispensers and other items were very dusty; they hadn't been wiped down in a while... The plant pots were all neglected. The food was good, but no better than at other beach restaurants. The prices were reasonable, though. Overall, we were a bit disappointed and probably wouldn't go back again.

We had a wonderful evening at ahoi. Everything was perfect. Service was friendly, fast, and competent. The food was excellent. The rooms were great, with only one drawback: there was a draft everywhere and it was quite loud. We found Otterndorf nicer than Hamburg. We'll be happy to come back next year when we vacation in the area! Our next vacation is here, and we were satisfied again. We enjoyed the ahoi cuisine in beautiful sunshine. The food was good, although the value for money with the panfish was a bit unusual and the staff was a bit overwhelmed, it was a lovely evening. The service staff made up for their inability to cope with their endless friendliness. We're already looking forward to our next visit.

We were here again. This time there were four of us. It was fantastic! We were here late on a Wednesday afternoon at the beginning of August 2025. After consistently having nothing but bad experiences in Otterndorf, where all the cafés we visited were either closed or the ones that were open were out of stock, our evening stop at Ahoi was a truly, truly ray of hope. It absolutely worked and helped restore our peace with Otterndorf! We had made a reservation for 6:00 PM. Because of the aforementioned bad experiences, we arrived by 5:00 PM. We were welcomed by "Caylan," and he was a true ray of hope, because he "pulled everything out," he completely turned things around for us, so that we still had a super-wonderful day in Otterndorf: He welcomed us as if he'd been waiting especially for us, he said he'd reserved a wonderful table for us, and if we were even an hour early, it wouldn't be a problem at all, he would make our time entertaining! And this young "man" was only a very young 20 years old! Where did he get the "chutzpah" to act so confidently and completely openly toward us – yet 200% service-oriented? He has it in his blood, it's his character, it continued throughout the evening, and he kept adding little gestures/(special acts of attention) that enveloped us in a warm and comforting way that evening! The food was once again – as usual – fantastic!!! We ate four different dishes and drank four different drinks. I actually chose the main course I'd requested here on this platform last year, and I was completely satisfied, because I'd never had anything so tender, precise, delicate, competent, and harmonious anywhere else before: "Tuna as a main course." And, I also tried the "Classic" terryaki sauce for the first time—a brand-new dish—and it's even better than our favorite terryaki sauces at home. We immediately bought some and brought some back with us! An absolute recommendation!!!!! We'd be happy to go back every time!!!! We also warmly recommended it to other vacationers during our vacation, and they definitely recommend "Ahoi" as their next destination!!!!! 2024: We ate at the restaurant with six people: dinner. The house stands completely isolated, so you could really make full use of the incredibly spacious window fronts – almost all the way around. We had a table reserved and got a corner table facing the sea, which meant we had two large, full-width windows entirely at our disposal, to our delight. One large window facing the sea, so we could see all the large ships gliding by, and one large window facing the incredibly beautiful sunset, which we could also watch without interruption. The fries were absolutely amazing; they were and are nowhere better!!! Very tasty food, with a certain "extra" flavor! The reservation worked out perfectly. The table was perfect. The view was GREAT! The service was good. The food was delicious. One request: The tuna/(sashimi), which is only available as an appetizer – in a very small portion – should please also be available in a larger, main course! ``` We can definitely recommend this restaurant, and we do so here! And, for us, too, it's definitely true: "We'd be happy to come back anytime!"

It was always good and very friendly. Now the winter menu is back, and with it the delicious fish dishes. Today I treated myself to the salmon with baked potatoes again. Super delicious 😋 We were quite disappointed today. Reserved a table for four people. 8:15 PM We were super punctual. We had to wait a bit at the entrance, even though it was very empty. Then we were told the kitchen was closed. But that was sorted out. Considering we were apparently very late, it took a very long time to take our order. Drinks took a long time. Two out of four only arrived after the third reminder. Food was good. It was also beautifully presented. An espresso, which we ordered at the server's request, never arrived. No one came to pay either. We had to pay at the counter. It was very unusual... I'm definitely used to better.

A beautiful restaurant, surrounded by water and nature. The food is incredibly delicious, the service is exceptionally attentive and friendly, and you simply feel at home there. We will dine there again.

Unfortunately, a review isn't possible because no waiter was out on the terrace. Perhaps this is now a self-service restaurant and we didn't notice it 🤔 It's a shame, it was good on previous visits.

Today was our first visit to Ahoi in Otterndorf, and it certainly won't be the last time during our vacation. First of all, we have to commend the very friendly and accommodating staff who welcomed us. Also worth mentioning is the beautifully located restaurant. The main reason for the visit was, of course, the food, and it was the best fried fish I've ever eaten. A super delicious meal at a fair price, served by a very friendly staff!!! We went to Ahoi for dinner with two couples. Our server was extremely courteous and efficient. The food (burgers, bowls, fish & chips, and fish) was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Whether it says Henssler or not...it doesn't matter to me at all. The food was good, the service very attentive (the waiters were very dedicated). The prices were hmm...well...I'm used to something a bit cheaper, but it was still okay. If the time and place work out again, we'll go back.

At the end of June, we were on vacation in Otterndorf and had something special to celebrate. So we thought: Let's have a good time at Ahoi Steffen Henssler. The first impression, however, was sobering. To be on the safe side, I called ahead to reserve a table – but an employee with a disguised "mouse voice" was apparently deliberately teasing me. I even heard him tell a colleague that he was just trying to make fun of me and now he didn't know how to continue, since I was continuing with my reservation as usual. Then he simply hung up. I found this very unprofessional for a restaurant of this caliber, and we actually considered canceling our visit. Finally, we called again – this time the conversation went normally – and so we went to Ahoi for dinner. Based on reviews, I had the impression that the portions were very small, and I was a little worried whether we, as big eaters, would be satisfied. We ordered a burger and a bowl – and were pleasantly surprised: The portions were absolutely generous, and we were more than full. The price is a bit higher, but completely justified for the location and quality of the food. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive. You could tell they enjoyed their work. An absolute highlight – which I'm still raving about now, weeks later – was the truffle ponzu. Despite the strange phone incident, I give the taste and the experience 5 out of 5 stars. We would go back anytime.

It was my first visit on a Sunday, but we could only pay with cash and had to postpone our reservation for an hour. In return, we were offered three hot and cold drinks or desserts as compensation. The young staff is very friendly and competent and asked us two or three times if everything was okay. The food was served within 15-20 minutes and was very tasty (a crunchy chicken burger with regular sweet potatoes (a large portion!)). The ambiance and view are very nice. There is plenty of seating inside and outside. There is ample parking, but you can also easily walk to the restaurant. We would gladly return.

This is our first time here and we have to admit that we've had much better food for the same price. The schnitzel here is only 2mm thick and has no meaty flavor, and that for €20, not recommended!

Great atmosphere in Otterndorf, in a prime location by the dike. The food was particularly delicious. The sophisticated bowls and fresh fries reflect the excellent craftsmanship. Excellent service with recommendations and friendliness from Roman's on-site team.

This isn't my shop, the furniture inside is all old and too expensive, we don't go there anymore and if you ask around, we're not the only ones who think so, what a shame!!!!

...more than met expectations, I wrote 3 years ago. Unfortunately, this time it was the exact opposite. First of all, I have to say that the staff was very friendly and tried very hard to limit the damage (a drink or dessert for everyone, no problem). Unfortunately, 7 out of 9 meals were nowhere near the usual quality from our last visit. We ordered unspectacular fish 'n' chips. One of them had Henssler-style fries, which unfortunately weren't anything special compared to last time. The taste was bland, and unfortunately, the fries and fish were only lukewarm. Hot fries were immediately delivered, but.... Unfortunately, this is probably the last time I'll eat here, and I've lost the desire to visit Ahoi again. It was annoying that it was an invitation to a 90th birthday, and this wasn't a positive end to the day. Once again: The staff were more than positive, but.... therefore, and only because of the staff, only 3 stars. Very friendly staff. Extremely good food, and the amount is filling. I'd love to come back more often, but the 700km drive is too far, but I'll definitely stop by next time I'm in Otterndorf. Keep up the good work!!!!!

The location is a highlight. The ambiance wasn't anything special except for the view of the Wadden Sea. The staff was very friendly. I ordered a burger with fries for €20.50, what can I say... I expected more for that price, especially since they advertise with a name that's well-known in the culinary world. My daughter loved the children's dish: potato pancakes with apple sauce for €6.50. Apparently a frozen product, but good quality for the price.

We had two simple dishes: a teriyaki-style salad and a currywurst with fries. Both dishes were truly delicious. The ingredients were high-quality, so you could taste the subtle differences. The service was very attentive and very, very friendly. It doesn't always have to be a Michelin-starred menu to make a meal special.

My husband and I have eaten at Ahoi twice now, and it certainly won't be the last 😊 The service is super friendly, attentive, and quick. The food is delicious and plentiful. The menu isn't extensive, yet everyone is sure to find something to their liking. Except for vegans, which might be a bit crowded. Vegetarians have it easier. The ambiance is rather casual and has a maritime feel. The large terrace is very popular when the weather is good. Be sure to reserve a table during peak season. Better safe than sorry 🙂 So, now, "Bon appetit!" at Ahoi 🤤

It's always an experience in Otterndorf. You can sit outside or inside; the staff is super nice and accepts criticism, but is always friendly. We've been there many times now. The staff always recognizes us "vacationers," even after 12 months. So we're going back next year (unfortunately not until later). Try it; you'll be a repeat customer because it tastes good and you feel good.

Ahoy Otterndorf! Finally, a restaurant that reflects the "North German relaxed atmosphere." Well-equipped, clean, and a tasteful ambiance that made us feel at home, whatever the weather. Fantastic – whatever the weather. And then the view of the Elbe and the "ship-watching" – from cruise ships to shrimp boats. And the service… please stay the way you are! Great team in the dining room and in the kitchen. Open, friendly, and flexible with customer requests – whether it's reservations or requests for changes to the menu. We had a lovely, relaxed, and delicious time with you at the end of May and beginning of June – more than highly recommended. Because here we were even allowed to sit and enjoy ourselves as long as we wanted. And not, as is so often the case these days: Plates removed, bill given, and goodbye! Quite the opposite. We're already looking forward to the next time!

Update: Unfortunately, the quality of the food has declined significantly. Instead of focusing on fresh produce and good presentation, the focus is on heavily processed, mostly fried dishes. There are many local alternatives offering better food, which is a shame about the beautiful location. 1st review: Unfortunately, we didn't get a seat. At least it was well communicated that there would be long waits. The staff seemed a bit overwhelmed by the influx of visitors. Nevertheless, I will be back.

I ate at your restaurant today and found it very pleasant. Everyone was addressed with a friendly "du" (informal), which I really appreciated. Since it wasn't busy, it didn't take long for my meal to arrive. The pollock was crispy, and the fries were something new. They call it Henssler style, with onions, peppers, sesame, and parsley. I liked the ambiance, and the service was very friendly. All in all, a successful visit.

We were there on July 1, 2025, and were very disappointed. The food was tasty, but the cleanliness left something to be desired. The restrooms had no hand-drying paper. The prices for food and drinks were exorbitant for the quality.

The view is simply magnificent and expansive. The service is always attentive and very friendly. I go there quite regularly, and the team is very attentive, even when there are a lot of tables. I always enjoy coming here.

We went out to eat in Otterndorf yesterday. The food was good, the view of the North Sea was great, and above all, it cooled us down after the heat. But one thing wasn't nice: two employees sat in the beach chair and had to smoke in front of all the guests. That wasn't okay at all.

Hey...we were at Ahoi not to eat, but just for a drink and to enjoy the lovely atmosphere. We weren't disappointed. The staff were very attentive and friendly, and the manager was great...the Aporol and Bavarian beer were delicious. We'll definitely be back.

My fries were very dry and had no sauce. But they were crispy. The beef burger was okay, edible.

Coffee served without milk, and the floor was being cleaned. But it was a very nice location and beautifully decorated!

We ate there twice during our 14-day vacation, and I have to say, both times were great! The service was friendly, humorous, and attentive, and the food was very good! I can only recommend it to everyone!

"AHOI Steffen" has become our greeting! Having returned to the AHOI on our almost annual 'pilgrimage' with our motorhome from Karlsruhe, we are delighted that what would have been hard to top has remained the same! Once again, we were surprised by the generous portions! My wife also found some gourmet-like items on the menu! What always impresses us both: The AHOI is very family-friendly, from the attentive reception to the children's menu and the affordable prices! Special praise from my wife and me for the chocolate cake with whipped cream! And from me, congratulations to Mr. Hensler for creating and maintaining these jobs, which are filled with happily qualified individuals who know how to generate pleasant hours in a pleasant atmosphere (with a view of the Elbe river cruises)! A truly great restaurant with a beautiful view. We sat outside in a small group in perfect weather. We had a reservation, but wanted to sit outside. We had to wait a little while, but it was worth it. The service is very friendly and attentive. The food is simply delicious. So if you're nearby and fancy a tasty burger... I highly recommend stopping by.

Beautiful location right by the sea/dunes. Truly a prime location. That alone is reason enough to visit. The food was delicious. The teriyaki bowl was great! The burger was good too. We personally found the edamame with pink sea salt a bit "boring," or rather, unloving and too salty. There are also children's dishes. The service could be improved here and there (perhaps some of the service staff were new?!) After dinner, you can spend a wonderful time on the beach and stretch your legs a bit. :) Parking is available on-site.

The focus here is clearly on the magnificent view! Located on the dyke, the view over the Elbe estuary is a delight in any weather and in any season. You can also enjoy good, friendly service and solid cuisine, with a modern bowl and burger menu. A maritime-inspired, modern ambiance in the dining room completes the offering. The only drawback is that there are "too few" terrace seats available in good weather, and the noise level can be unpleasantly high due to the open-plan design. The menu and staff are child-friendly. However, it is definitely recommended for a family visit for lunch or dinner. Ample parking is available on-site. Reservations are recommended during the season!

The food was delicious! The staff was very quick and very friendly. Due to a lack of bar staff and the training of new staff, it took a while towards the end to clear up and pay, but I don't think it was a big deal. The young man who served us was very friendly and tried very hard to please everyone. The atmosphere was very pleasant; you could watch the boats sailing by in peace.
