I love the Haus des Gastes (Guest House), it has a great view.

We were there at the swimming pool and sauna. Everything was nice enough, but when we wanted to eat in the sauna area's bistro, we were refused service because, although we were wearing swimwear and wrapped in large towels, we weren't explicitly wearing bathrobes. We understand that people don't sit naked at tables, but this was completely inappropriate and showed a lack of business acumen. If we had wanted to eat at the Italian restaurant next door afterward, we would have had to drive our car out of the parking lot and then back in again so that the parking space could be assigned to the correct business. It seems impossible to manage something like this in a more cumbersome way in the digital age.

The price-performance ratio is very good.

For us, stopping at the HDG is practically a "must." On vacation, we visit the HDG at least once a day. Its location right on the dike is ideal. In the summer, the place is often packed, and yes, you sometimes have to be patient, but considering that the staff is there practically all year round, except for the time the HDG is closed in November and January, it's perfectly understandable. We are definitely satisfied with the service and the staff. We often sit there, have a drink, eat something, and then play cards. The prices are also OK. We wish the whole team a wonderful break and hope they recharge for the Christmas and New Year's period. See you again next year for a cherry spritzer, a shandy, and kibbeling! 😅

It wasn't possible to place an order. The server repeatedly emphasized that she would be at our table shortly. After a 20-minute wait, she informed us that she was currently unable to take any more orders. We left without eating.

We ordered various cocktails, but unfortunately, we were very disappointed. They all tasted more like juice or water. There was no decoration on the glass, and the glass wasn't filled properly. We were then told they were already made-up cocktails. That's unacceptable for a price of €8.50 and up. We couldn't place a new order because no staff came to the tables. I wouldn't recommend this place.

Friendly staff and you can get snacks, coffee and cake or other drinks.

A waitress spilled a drink and didn't wipe it up, and five of us sat at the table for 40 minutes with empty glasses without being asked if we wanted to order something else. All this happened while the restaurant was quiet.

Absolutely not a recommendation. The place is packed, but only because of its location. The unfriendly service and the bland taste of the coffee don't attract anyone.

Bad Laasphe is always a great place for events, whether it's concerts, exhibitions, or various other events.

My wife, our 16-year-old Maltese, Kiki, and I spend our annual vacation in Greetsiel. Traditionally, this includes a day trip to Norddeich—and usually a visit to the guest house. This was no different today, September 11th. After a heavy rain shower, we sat on the terrace. Unfortunately, our stay was greatly spoiled by the waiter's behavior. He had barely served us when he sharply pointed out to my wife that dogs belong "under the table." However, our dog sat in a special dog stroller, about half a meter from the table, and didn't bother anyone. Kiki is 16 years old and can't simply be put on the floor—that should be understandable with some understanding. We ordered a latte macchiato, coffee, and a slice of Black Forest gateau. The cake tasted rather mediocre and didn't look particularly fresh—but that was beside the point. Much more serious was that the waiter returned shortly afterward, reprimanded us again, and finally declared, "This is not a dog sanctuary." For us, this reached the point where we wanted to pay immediately. A heated argument ensued between my wife and the waiter, while other guests, who also had dogs with them, assisted us. Apparently, this employee has been noticed several times in an unpleasant manner. A look at other review sites unfortunately confirms our impression: There are already several complaints about this waiter. Management should seriously consider better training the staff, because unfriendly behavior drives away guests – and that's a shame, especially in a tourist-heavy place like Norddeich. Conclusion: The Haus des Gastes actually offers a beautiful location and could be a pleasant place for a break by the sea. Unfortunately, the behavior of some employees makes you feel unwelcome – especially as dog owners. We left our order and left disappointed.

Beautiful sea views. Delicious fish, delicious ice cream, tasty drinks, and live music in the evenings. This is what makes chilling fun.

Today, we were back at the Haus des Gastes with our guests, enjoying drinks and a fried fish sandwich and baked potato with herring. The service was very friendly, and the food was once again very good and reasonably priced.

A wonderful place to enjoy a view of the North Sea with a glass of beer or wine. Very reasonable prices.

The guest house certainly relies on its location, not its service. It's a regular destination with mediocre quality and unmotivated staff.

We stopped here briefly on our bike tour to get something to eat and use the restroom. The restrooms were free and clean. The herring rolls were very tasty and the price was perfectly reasonable.

Swimming pools are being built there. It's scheduled for completion in 2028 :)

Stopped here for something to eat while passing through (cycling trip). The location is great and very cozy, the staff is very friendly, and the herring rolls are really delicious. The prices are totally reasonable. We'll be happy to come back.

It's better to skip the fried fish, unless you're into fish bones.

I've been there for three weeks now and have been a guest several times. Phew... The hospitality is barely noticeable, especially from the male service staff. No hello/moo, no eye contact, no smiles. I don't know what it is, but it's definitely not me. I hope the friendliness returns. Only then will I come back. All the best.

We were there yesterday afternoon. I could have bought the advertised Black Forest gateau from a reputable manufacturer and let it thaw. The one on offer for €4.70 a piece was thawed, tasteless, and tiny. Add to that two coffees per person, and that was €20 gone. Ridiculous, a rip-off, and mass-produced.

Simply top-notch, always happy to come back. Whenever we're in Norden/Norddeich, this is our first stop.

The location is, of course, great, but what's even better: the soft serve ice cream! Go get the soft serve 😉 ...but be careful the seagulls don't steal your ice cream 😉

We only had coffee, on the terrace. Unfortunately, the cappuccino was only lukewarm and very weak. Not for coffee connoisseurs. We also charge you immediately after your order is on the table.

The HdG in Norddeich offers barrier-free access to the restaurant, restrooms, and various shops.

We were outside. The fries from the food hatch and the soft-serve ice cream were perfect. The drinks from the drinks cart were nothing short of amazing. A glass of water cost 3 euros, which I find really outrageous, and the Aperol Spritz (that's what it's called on the sign and specifically advertised, including a photo of the Aperol bottle) isn't an Aperol, but a ready-mixed drink that had a nasty aftertaste... The view is nice, the toilets are okay, so overall, you can have fries and an ice cream there.

Everything is rather simple average.

The staff outside are super friendly, but inside, the staff seem to be a bit better. Unfriendly and irritated when questions are asked. Even though the inside is empty, they're actually working outside, and the colleagues in the beer truck are doing a great job, which unfortunately isn't reflected in the reviews due to the aloof, super-service staff inside.

A nice place to take a short break. However, there are various stalls set up on the beach side, so you can't really see the beach. The waiter was excellent, super flexible, and quick.

We've been to Haus des Gastes several times and have always been satisfied. However, this time, the waiter was very rude and couldn't answer us properly. He just talked to his colleague and left us standing there. We decided to go somewhere else.

The rooms are clean, the beds and towels are clean, the staff is friendly. Quiet, everything is done with taste. New furniture Always hot water. Delicious breakfast, I recommend.

Great place to end the day, great to watch the sunset with a drink

I had a bit of a shock when paying the bill. I ordered a Coke and a double espresso. Then I got a rude awakening when I paid the bill. I completely understand inflation and rising labor costs. But charging €6.50 for a double espresso is outrageous and extortionate. If at least the service had been friendly, it would have been okay, but it's just a simple rip-off. For comparison: Two days later, I was at the Hafenkiste in Aurich. There, I had excellent service and a double espresso for €3.70. Even included a biscuit, which is no longer served at the HDG to round things off. In the future, the focus will be on Watt'n Blick or other restaurants. No one should support this pricing!!!

I don't know if this is new, but when I was there today, the restaurant where you're served was separated from the line to pick up food (or rather, to sit down at one of the tables outside). Even at lunchtime, I was able to order (and pay by card) in 5 minutes and pick up my food in another 10 minutes at most. Bockwurst with potato salad, and the salad was much better than I expected. Okay, the presentation is a bit different, but I don't care! Add a sea buckthorn spritz from the drinks stand, and everything was perfect, and I didn't have to get upset with anyone. ;-)

Review of the "Haus des Gastes" in Norddeich We were there regularly for many years – but we don't go anymore. What was annoying in the past is unfortunately still no better: no card payments. I don't know if that's still the case today – but back then, it only had one understandable reason for me. In an area so heavily influenced by tourism, this should really be standard. The selection has deteriorated significantly. Items were sold out more and more frequently, and the selection became smaller and more random. It seems as if they are relying on their monopoly position, not on quality or hospitality. What we are really missing is passion and ideas. It no longer feels like anyone here is putting their heart and soul into it – a shame, especially for a place like Norddeich, which thrives on vacationers. Things are also getting difficult in the surrounding area: The "Watt'n Blick" team tries hard, but they only serve fries from the convection oven and waffles, which you wait a long time for – if they even have any left. The coffee bike is taking too long, and the only good food truck we liked is no longer allowed to be there.

Right on the beach, it's also a great spot for light meals. It offers a wide selection of drinks and a large covered terrace with a glass windbreak.

Unfortunately, this year's food at the fish hatch bears absolutely no resemblance to the outstanding quality and taste of last year. There's far better fried fish on the main street. It's a real shame.

Beautiful, modern ambiance. Spacious bar with small snacks. Prices are reasonable. Very friendly and competent service. Fast service even when the place is full. The cakes are delicious. It's best to go there after 6:00 PM, as it gets very busy during the day due to its proximity to the beach. There are sheltered seating options, and of course, there are also indoor seating areas and sun loungers.

Great venue in a prime location, right by the sea. Live music on Sundays and Wednesdays in the summer. The only bar in Norddeich open until midnight.

I can't recommend this place. The staff will rip you off.

There was a great restaurant here 8 years ago. The location is fantastic, but unfortunately the waiters aren't family-friendly. That's a shame; it used to be better.

Here you can enjoy something to eat and drink. The guest house is beautifully situated with direct views of the North Sea.

That's just a cheeky thing to say. After waiting for over 25 minutes with small children, you're still treated rudely. I don't recommend it! They only survive because of their location.

We've been coming to Norddeich for 15 years, always with children. This year, I'm no longer allowed to put my stroller at the table where my child sleeps (for insurance reasons). The stroller was parked at the edge, out of the way. As I said, I've been coming here every year for 15 years, sometimes even twice a year, and I've never experienced anything like this, and then you're so cheeky. Have you ever been so rich? Even old people with walking frames (of which there are many here) have to sit outside where there's no shelter from the wind. It's a disgrace, rude, and no longer a guest house.

The location is good, and the food selection is good too: fries, fried fish, cakes – all delicious. The prices are quite high at €9.20 for a fried fish sandwich and €5.70 for a slice of strawberry cake (no gateau!). What's really unpleasant, though, is the consistently unfriendly staff! It's undoubtedly a stressful job – but it's no wonder the tips are meager. The only thing that was consistently friendly was the reception staff. We were there for three weeks – so no one had a "bad day."

It's hard to avoid. Open until midnight in season, and often the only place to escape if you fancy a quick bite to eat or a drink late at night. So far, I've only experienced friendly service (sometimes it just sounds like something echoing from the forest), so I can't understand some of the reviews. The prices are still very reasonable for a tourist hot spot, so I'd happily go back. They shouldn't add too many more vendors, though, or the view would be completely ruined. I can't say anything about the rooms.

Public restrooms are also located right on the beach. There are plenty of different seating options, both indoors and outdoors. Access is available with wheelchairs and other assistive devices. Whether you're looking for a full meal or just a small snack, there's something for everyone. The drinks selection is also impressive. There's live music on Sundays and Wednesdays. Dogs aren't allowed inside, so we avoid the restaurant.

The following is my personal assessment: It really doesn't live up to its name. You are asked to pay immediately after ordering, without there being any cashless payment option at the table. You therefore have to get up and go inside with the waiter. Well-intentioned suggestions to perhaps change the situation and not ask potential guests to pay immediately after ordering are dismissed in an incredibly unfriendly manner by the manager at the bar. "We have our system and it works." People are simply too sure of their situation, as the location is really nice. In my opinion, the work is not done efficiently. Three waiters stand behind the bar with their legs crossed while it is busy outside. Individual waiters, trying hard, but managers are incapable of leading, in my opinion.

I visited the Haus des Gastes in Norddeich and was completely satisfied. I particularly liked the beautiful terrace, which invites you to linger. The dining options were also impressive – there are great options for something delicious to eat and drink. The prices are very fair and absolutely reasonable. I would also like to particularly emphasize the cleanliness of the entire area. Everything was tidy and well-maintained. Overall, a very pleasant stay, which I would happily recommend!

From the tableware to the furniture, it's all a bit basic. The lady who helped us on the terrace wasn't having a good day. She was curt and her face was filled with grumpy expression. The terrace was beautifully situated on the Wadden Sea coast with a view of the sandy beach, the sea, and the Wadden Islands. The prices are very affordable!

The fries and currywurst are absolutely delicious. I got some more fries.

The food quality is rather low (“food hatch”), but the service at the drinks cart is excellent. Overall, though, a great place to hang out.

In short: The only restaurant with a beer garden right on the beach. Great view outside, uncomfortable inside, average service. Prices are still acceptable.

It's always nice to eat here or just have a drink. Very friendly staff. The prices are reasonable, too. Unfortunately, the cocktails aren't really cocktails for me. They don't taste good at all. €8.50 each. It's cheap, you think. BUT, poorly made. I'd rather spend a little more on a cocktail, but a good one, too. They're probably pre-made cocktails.

There are various options for food and drink, the ice cream stand being particularly noteworthy. The soft serve is world-class! Otherwise, the staff are clearly showing signs of the crowds and the hustle and bustle. There are a few cleanliness issues here and there. The price/performance ratio is just about right. The location on the beach is, of course, fantastic.

Yes, definitely. It was my first time there today, but I immediately felt at home. The staff is very attentive and friendly. The coffee and cake were delicious.

Large restaurant right on the beach in Norddeich with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Right next door is a small counter where you can order various dishes, such as fries, kibbelinge, or even a burger. It seems to be part of the menu, as it's not marked separately. There's also a good selection of drinks, including local beers. We were there on a holiday and a weekend, and despite the high number of visitors, the wait was relatively short.

We spontaneously went there again and were actually really happy when we read that they served kibbeling. Otherwise, they only had fried fish, which we always enjoyed, by the way. We ordered kibbeling. Luckily, only one portion. We've never eaten such bad kibbeling and were more than disappointed. We think it was frozen. All the pieces were square, the same size, and the taste was absolutely disgusting. I find that really pathetic considering the location; I expect the fish to be decent, fresh. Unfortunately, the kibbeling wasn't worth €8.90.

We had a fantastic weekend. We'll be back next year. Thank you to Ms. Manuela and Mr. Kühn. We're already looking forward to June 2026.

No entry with a Croozer, even though there are 10 strollers inside. I've been a regular customer for 11 years. That's it.
