Beware of rip-offs!!! Check the menu first! Okay, on the Moselle, people drink wine, but after a bike ride, they also enjoy a beer. However, the fact that a 0.5-liter wheat beer costs a whopping €7.20 is pretty cheeky! Answer (presumably from the manager): Everything has gotten more expensive!! Just walk a few steps further into the pedestrian zone, where the same drink costs only €4.50. It's no wonder that at 6 p.m. in glorious weather, there are only two people in the entire restaurant. Otherwise, a nice outdoor area, a quaint "pub" with a small menu.

Great food, great service, great value for money. We'll be back

After a beautiful motorcycle tour, we were craving classic fries with currywurst. A Google search led us to "Im Kitt'che," as both the pictures and the online menu featured this dish. However, when we got there, we discovered that they didn't (or no longer) serve this dish—which wouldn't have been a problem in itself. Unfortunately, the reaction to our order was very unpleasant: We were laughed at and given the impression that fries with currywurst were "below par." This unfriendly behavior completely spoiled our stay, so we decided to move on immediately. It's a shame—with a friendly reminder, this visit could have ended very differently.

In short: Highly recommended! The schnitzel was absolutely fantastic, the house wine was fantastic, and the price was reasonable. The waitress and waiter were both very friendly and helpful. We are absolutely thrilled. Thank you!

The location is great, and so is the food. What we didn't understand, however, was that even though there were seats available inside, we were asked to go outside. Other guests who wanted to eat were turned away, even though there were plenty of free seats that weren't reserved either.

Super delicious, just like mom's. Prices are extremely reasonable. Portions are manageable. We'll definitely be back.

DO NOT GO HERE. VERY RUDE. Our family (who is from Traben-Trarbach) went here the day before us and highly recommended the food. Our family is from Traben-Trarbach so we came here for dinner based on their recommendation. What we can assume is because we were visiting from America, they treated us completely different. We spoke to them in German the entire time and were very polite. They did not provide us a menu to eat and they were rude to us about sharing a plate. 2 out of 3 us had gastric bypass and cannot physically eat a full meal. We still tried to buy 2 full meals and have one person share. They would not allow us to share, so we decided to just have drinks instead. We planned to eat there, but because they were so rude, we paid for our drinks and went across the street to eat. When we tried to pay with card, they told us they do not accept cards, but they allowed my parents the day before to pay with card. The restaurants across the street were much more kind and welcoming. We will not come back.

Served by grumpy ladies which stopped us for ordering the planned meal. No other customers in the restaurant and 1,5 hrs to closing. Our choice not to eat one portion each is that we cannot eat a full portion each due to all the calories in one meal, no matter the cost. Please, do respect our choice of a healthy living.

Nice pub/restaurant. The food was delicious. We had winemaker's steak with fried onions and fried potatoes. The service was a bit grumpy, but okay.

The seating is very pleasant, and the restaurant looks very nice...I think the beer is a bit excessive at almost 6 euros...we didn't eat anything. There's currently a construction site across the street, which made it very loud...but the owners can't help it.

Unfortunately, the staff was very unfriendly; I wouldn't recommend it. You felt unwelcome.

Service looks different to me. We were greeted with "the kitchen is closed." Good thing we only wanted a drink... When I asked where the restroom was, another guest (who was talking to the waitress at the time) replied sharply, "Where is it?" And last but not least, the tables were cleared 45 minutes before closing time, suggesting to even the last guest that it was time to leave. Service is NOT written here. But at least the wine was satisfactory. Next time, I'll gladly go to a different restaurant.

Great atmosphere, great service. The Keller Lager beer was poured with love, or so I was told. So, all around, it was delicious.

Absolutely NOT recommended! We wanted to eat there today, but there was nothing going on, which should have been a bit of a surprise... We were then given a very small menu, which offered almost exclusively pork (e.g., pork medallions with spaetzle in cream sauce, schnitzel with fried potatoes). I asked nicely if I could just have the spaetzle or the fried potatoes. I was told that wasn't possible. They could have simply left out the meat, couldn't they? That wasn't such an unusual special request... I said that I wasn't allowed to eat it like that, and was snippyly replied, "I don't care if you don't eat here." I've never experienced such "service." We left, hungry and stunned.

The typical restaurant where the waitresses have no interest in the well-being of their guests. After we'd already received our drinks and were about to place our food order, our first "special request" was met with a rude and annoyed reply that no deviations from the menu were possible and that we could always just have a drink. Too bad we'd come to eat and had already received our drinks. Otherwise, we would have left immediately. It's a shame that there are still places these days where you're served like that. A very unpleasant atmosphere. I can't for the life of me understand where the good reviews come from.

Without a doubt, this was the best schnitzel I had in Germany! It’s a shame that many people stopped to look at the menu but chose to walk away—because the food here is absolutely delicious. I’m not sure about the building’s history, but it’s definitely worth a visit. And last but not least, the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. There’s truly no reason to skip this place!

We discovered this lovely restaurant on our bike ride to Traben Trarbach. The service was very friendly, and the daily special arrived at our table very quickly after we ordered. It was absolutely delicious 😋 We highly recommend Kitt'che! Thank you 🤩 for the great service! 😃

It was very nice and, above all, very tasty. Very friendly and prompt service, and special requests were readily accommodated. The schnitzel was freshly prepared and highly recommended with the fried potatoes! We'll be happy to visit again!

Actually everything was great. Very friendly staff. Nice place outside in the sun. We were there after a bike ride and ordered two wheat...for a total of €14.20. That seemed like a lot to us. When we asked, we were told that the breweries had raised their prices. 7.10 for 0.5 wheat is disproportionately expensive despite the increased price level. It didn't match the other prices either. The price of the food and cake in particular was absolutely normal to cheap. Too bad….

Very interesting pub in a former prison. I can't say anything about the food because the kitchen is closed between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.

We spontaneously went there for dinner today on Good Friday. It was very positive and we really enjoyed the food. Nice little place and the service was great. As of 04/2025

Rustic restaurant with very charming innkeepers. You can still see parts of the old prison. The food is simple and without any fuss, but very tasty. The menu is rather small, but leaves nothing to be desired. In addition to schnitzel variants, there are a few regional and seasonal dishes. However, if necessary, you should reserve a table in advance.

We managed to get a table for four at short notice on a Friday during the Christmas wine market. The menu was relatively small, but the food was delicious, the service was friendly, and the value was good. It certainly won't be our last visit.

Super delicious food! My husband had schnitzel with fried potatoes and I had the salad with chicken! It was very tasty, not too much and not too little. We didn't have a reservation and were still allowed to sit down. Service very nice! Always happy!

Unfortunately, they were unlucky. There were still 3-4 tables free, but when I asked (no one spoke to us on their own initiative) whether there was anything left available for two people, the only response was a curt “no”. This has never happened to us before 😅

Once again one of the few moments that I really award 5 stars. In terms of location, it is really old-fashioned, cozy with old cell features still present. The ladies at the counter are very friendly. The menu is not very extensive, but there is something for everyone. These are truly German dishes. Then the food itself. Have eaten in many places before but this was really tasty! Haven't eaten something this good in a while! If you are in the area, I recommend this cozy restaurant.

No idea where all the great food reviews come from? Salad only partly fresh, "homemade" brawn rather no and little. No paper holder in the toilet. The only bright spot is the friendly service.

We wanted to drink a beer at 1:30 p.m. with 20 people walking past and were turned away at the door... A group of men that size is not welcome... We wanted to drink one or two beers and continue along the Moselsteig and had the two people, Those who sat at the counter weren't bothered either. If a restaurateur doesn't need that, I wish a healthy bankruptcy.... I can no longer hear the complaining of the restaurateur.... Just cherry-picking, but no longer want to sell beer in broad daylight.... We are all from the area and might have come back again for dinner...

Restaurant in de voormalige gevangenis. Maar daar wil ik wel opgesloten worden; prima eten en drinken! Maar let op! Bij deze gevangenis moet je echt van te voren reserveren!

Ich wählte die Frikadelle.Dazugehörige Bratkartoffeln und Salat waren einwandfrei gut.Über die Frikadelle bin ich enttäuscht. Ein Fertigprodukt! Ich hatte eine handgefertigte Frikadelle erwartet.Für 13€ stark überteuert. Es gab keine Kerze für den Tisch im Aussenbereich.Unser Essen fand im Dunklen statt.Kauft Kerzen, liebe Wirtsleute! Der Service war einwandfrei.

Ohne zu wissen das es früher ein Gefängnis war haben wir uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich , das Essen sehr lecker und das Ambiente hervorragend. Wollten ein zweites Mal dort einkehren war aber leider Ruhetag

Leckere einheimische Küche, nette Bedienung, schönes Ambiente. Die Eingänge zu den Toiletten muss man gesehen haben. Es handelt sich um Türen von Gefängniszellen. Das Gebäude war wohl mal ein Gefängnis.

Heerlijk gegeten op het terras. Gewoon goed eten en prima porties voor een goede prijs. Alleen contant betalen is wel jammer, maar dat is nog steeds op veel plekken in Duitsland.
