Overall, our expectations were not met.

Not as good and as hyped up and gatekept from people in Düsseldorf. Otoro and Chutoro were good and bigger slices of meat. Not every meal is uploaded. We found hair twice!!!…The cleanliness level needs serious review….

A very good sushi restaurant with exceptionally friendly service. The fish quality is consistently very good, and the Wagyu beef, when available, is top-notch.

This was definitely one of the best very Japanese places in Germany I've visited! I felt like in Japan! All the dishes where tasty, and the atmosphere was just what's needed! Must visit Japanese cuisine!

This Restaurant is insanly good. Tried all the really affordable Lunch-Dishes for the past weeks, all of them are 5/5 stars, extremely yummy. Service is top-notch🙏🏼. Free green tea gets served as much as you want too. My new go-to-lunch-place💖.

The staff were incredibly friendly in a rather spartan atmosphere (due to its local character). The food was good (even though I'm not usually a big fan of it) – my dining companions thought their choices were excellent.

It's true that there is a large Japanese population in Düsseldorf and quite a few Japanese restaurants, but this one is great. Authentic dishes, very good flavors, and courteous service.

It is a regular European Japanese restaurant, but the prices are quite high for the quality they offer. The restaurant is nice and spacious, European built-in with natural materials and traditional Japanese elements by the entrance. The food was good, but hardly authentic. There are many deep fried appetizers, so we spent some time finding something fresher on the menu. Suski Maki were good, onigiri and nigiri were okay, it looked like the long-grain rice was used instead of short-grain rice. Neither had the rice a little sweet-sour note of vinegar. If you are looking for a truly authentic place, this place is not your choice. But if you would like to have a business dinner in a minimalist environment with Japanese vibe, that might be the right place.

Nothing special, basically Europeanized Japanese cuisine. If you can't find anything better to eat elsewhere, you can come here.

This time, I was a little disappointed. At first, I tried to make a reservation by phone, but they said I could come without a reservation since there weren't many customers, so I went. However, most of the menu items were sold out, so I could barely order anything. It would have been better if they had let me know in advance when I called... I wanted sushi, but they didn't offer any. Hahaha. But the last time I ate there, the food was delicious and the staff was friendly.

Everything I eat is delicious, but my favorite is mackerel sushi.

The Sushi was good, but not the best that I had. It was also relatively expensive for what we ordered, although I am used to California prices.

Very good food, but overall disappointing: We had reserved a table and were seated at the back of a room with a very large group, so the noise level was extremely loud. The server made a mistake and brought us the wrong sushi, which we still had to pay for. After arguing with three different servers, we gave up, paid, and left. The restaurant would benefit from some friendliness and goodwill.

Best sashimi I’ve had outside of Japan. We had other fishes as well and they were all very delicious. Service was fantastic and very accommodating. I hope to visit again.

Very friendly service and extremely delicious food.

First of all, we went after making a reservation, which was definitely a good idea, the place was already pretty full right when it opened. They offer a nice variety of Japanese dishes. Not an overwhelming amount, but still a solid selection with enough options to choose from. Of course, they had classic sushi, but the sushi was quite expensive. While the quality looked exceptional and probably worth it for some, I personally wasn’t ready to pay that much for such small portions. Instead, I went for some other dishes, and they turned out to be amazing. Some portions, especially side dishes or appetizers, were a bit small for the price, but the quality of the food made up for it. All in all, it was a good experience. You can expect authentic, high-quality Japanese food here :)

The staff deserves special mention – such good and friendly service is unfortunately rare these days. Our sushi was good, but no better than at other Japanese restaurants nearby. Prices are rather high – for example, a scoop of ice cream costs €6. Very nice atmosphere (much nicer in person than in the photos). Reservations by phone are not possible. There is no menu online, but card payments are accepted. ;-)

The restaurant opens at 12:00. I arrived at 12:20, and by then I was informed that they were out of sushi.

This time I visited for lunch. We were told that advance reservations were not possible, so we lined up about 20 minutes before the store opened, but there was a long line when the store opened. I had the sashimi set meal, and the sashimi was cut thickly and was very filling and delicious. The service staff were very bright and kind, and the atmosphere was very nice, making the meal enjoyable. I'll definitely come back if I'm nearby.

The food is amazing and well prepared.. however, we had a very bad experience here, we just wanted to have a small bite since we weren't so hungry, and also ice cream, the waitress and another employee said that this is not a cafe, and that if we wanted something small we could go to cafe. The place was also not so busy, so I don't get it, never have I ever been so poorly treated in a restaurant, this is unnecessary, and unacceptable.

A shop run by Japanese people. Therefore, there is no need to remove it. I've gone out for drinks with expatriates several times, and whatever we order is delicious. Sake is expensive.

One of the best places I have ever tried. The sushi was amazing, totally different for what we are used in Europe because it seemed authentic. Also a lot of choices for traditional Japanese dished (can recommend the lotus root!). Absolutely recommended!

We come once a year from Munich to Düsseldorf to visit family. Hyuga is a must visit each time. Very authentic Japanese dishes and the best sushi in town.

Not only is it a premium sushi restaurant, but it is also in the top 3 best non-fine-dining Japanese hot cuisine in Düsseldorf and could arguably be number one. A person who knows can notice the techniques and concepts of perfectionism everywhere. At lunchtime five days a week, the restaurant offers sushi and sashimi as well as a selection of authentic Japanese homemade dishes and snacks at great prices. It's also worth noting that the restaurant probably also has the most diverse menu in Düsseldorf, considering the number of dishes on its long-limited lunch menu.

We went there for a quick lunch and were surprised by the quality of service and food served. The lunch menu often includes a soup, is priced very competitive for Düsseldorf and excels in taste and ingredient quality!

To my own surprise, I now have to rate the Hyuga with just one star. I'm a big fan of Hyuga when I'm there and enjoy the food. But unfortunately that hasn't happened in the last few weeks because no one answers the phone to make reservations, no matter when and how often I call. That shouldn't be the case. At least the room at the back could be offered for reservation via an internet portal. Closed due to success?! Not with me anymore.

A perfect lunch that I would recommend to anyone.

We had an unforgettable evening at Hyuga's yesterday, thank you very much! When you enter the restaurant you are greeted with a smile. We had reserved two days in advance and were only able to get a seat at the counter, but that turned out to be a good thing because you could sit opposite the two sushi chefs and still be comfortable. Reservation is necessary for the evening. Despite the full restaurant with a large Japanese party, we were served quickly, friendly and courteously, and the quality of service was top notch. After a visit to a brewery a week ago where grumpy service is a tradition, I felt comfortable in a pub again. To eat: We first had the small sashimi platter with lean and fatty tuna, salmon and squid. The cut is thick, so the quality of the fish could be tasted well: neither mushy nor tough, not “fishy”, very pleasant. Then we had fried oysters (kaki furai) with remoulade-like dip and salad from the daily menu. Heavenly, definitely try it when you get it! Our favorite was Battera, pressed and cut sushi with pickled mackerel, super tasty and the price is more than reasonable for the quantity. The tempura plate was good, we found the €34 for 4 prawns, 2 slices of sweet potato, some vegetables and an octopus a bit too expensive. However, we believe that the price is still okay given the amount of service and cooking staff that make the stay so unique, the cost of fresh ingredients and the location, although we think that other dishes offer better value for money have perceived. For dessert there was matcha ice cream with bean paste, very tasty. Another highlight was the ice-cold Kirin beer on tap. The mugs were slightly frozen, obviously they were frozen beforehand. The furnishings are simple and modern; compared to the pictures of the old space, it has probably lost some of its flair, but has therefore gained in size. We thought it was ok. Conclusion: The Hyuga impresses with a large selection of dishes. It's not a dark fine dining establishment, but the focus here is entirely on quality. If you want to try real Japanese food including home cooking like Katsukare, this must be the place. In any case, the restaurant is predominantly visited by Japanese guests. We'll definitely come back and try our hand at the menu!

Probably the best sushi/Japanese place in Düsseldorf. Price is on the high side (easily 40-50 euros per person) but quality is second to none! That tuna sashimi and nigiri just literally melt in your mouth!!! Highly recommended!

The ice-cold draft beer is simply a brilliant highlight, while most restaurants in Düsseldorf don't serve the beer cold enough. The food is of good quality at reasonable prices. Unfortunately too often out of stock. Service authentic.

Went there at noon, but many items on the menu were sold out, so it felt like a pretty average place, nothing particularly amazing.

Taste madness. Except for the pickles, we found everything 1A. Nothing was too dry, tough, salty or anything like that. Everything was prepared perfectly. We were particularly impressed by the Katsu. However, that also took a lot of time. We had to wait a relatively long time for our dishes. Unfortunately, nothing came at the same time, but everything one after the other at certain intervals. Overall, the price is higher, but the quality here is definitely right. Definitely worth a visit if you like good cuisine. Been there a few more times and the store has never disappointed. All of the dishes are of the highest quality and taste, and the staff are also very friendly and helpful. This is one of the best Japanese restaurants in Germany and I always go there when I come to Düsseldorf.

The dishes and the flavor components have been sufficiently reported. Another highlight for me is the speed and friendliness of the staff. This component should be highlighted alongside the dishes. Every guest can only feel warmly welcome. This is not a given these days. I'd love to come back every time I'm in Düsseldorf. Service is friendly and attentive. The new location has lost some of its charm, but is brighter. The Battera is particularly recommended. The changing recommendations are always exciting and good, and you can also get something more exotic.

Hyuga Japanese Restaurant offers a pleasant and cozy atmosphere with simple but attractive facilities. Particularly noteworthy is the courteous and friendly staff, who make the visit a positive experience. However, I personally wasn't particularly impressed by the food, which is probably due to my own taste. However, I find the prices to be quite high when viewed together and also compared to the competition.

Everything was great, except that one person at our table got the appetizer and main course very late (after the others at the table were mostly done with both). Not sure what happened there.

The beer was very cold, as if the beer glass had come out of the freezer, and it was the best Kirin draft beer I've had recently. It took a while for the food to come out, but I understood because there were so many customers. The dish was very delicious. The fried octopus was a bit hard, but the tendon and grilled fish were especially delicious. The store was clean, the atmosphere was nice, and the staff were friendly enough to make you feel uncomfortable.

I had a celebration yesterday and went there with my family. I had attended them twice before at class reunions, but this was the first time for my family. The restaurant was bright with large windows, clean, and had plenty of space between tables. The food was, of course, very delicious, and the service staff was very attentive, such as asking if we wanted to order four items instead of three, depending on the number of people. It was a fun time. By the way, when it comes to grilled eggplant, why is it so fluffy and not bitter?

Rather than eating out here, it feels like going to a friend's house in Japan and eating home-cooked food! I specifically came here for the sashimi, but after ordering, we waited over 40 minutes with no sashimi. When we asked the server, they told us our order was mistakenly served to another table and it would take another 20 minutes to prepare. Moreover, right after we sat down, three dishes that weren't ours were brought to our table, which we immediately asked the server to take away. After a total of 50 minutes of waiting, all we got were a few apologies. The dining experience was extremely poor!!

If you want authentic Japanese cuisine, this is the place for you. The quality is simply great. The food was just great. The service is very very good. Recommendation Reservation is a must. The sushi 🍣 is a dream. Not exactly cheap, but it's also justified. We'd love to come back.

This is indeed a hidden gem Japanese place in Düsseldorf. The decoration and environment are so clean and cozy to enjoy a meal. Food wise, it is very authentic, just the same as what I have tasted in Japan before. I tried the yakiniku dong, which is so delicious with a raw egg. Service is so nice, and every one here comes with a smile. Good to try the lunch menu as a week reward for yourself!!

We wanted to eat there for the second time and had reserved a table by phone. When we arrived at the restaurant at the agreed time, this reservation could not be found. Since clarification was not possible in German and I cannot speak Japanese, we were not given a table. For me, this restaurant is not recommended because on the first visit the food was good, but the bill did not match what was ordered. In my opinion there are good alternatives to the Hyuga.

It was a great meal and the food was delicious. It was very busy and people looked to be enjoying themselves like us.

I ordered sushi, chirashi, and yaki saba. The sushi is fresh and delicious, but the tuna flavor is a bit lacking. The service is fast and friendly. I will definitely come back to try other menu items.

Very slow service and medium-high prices for poor dishes

Bad luck and diet. Full place, with many Japanese too, it presents itself well. It's not cheap but it looked like a nice dinner. Nothing, we order but our orders arrive very calmly, the last dish even took more than an hour (two fried vegetables with two fried leaves for €22...). We add some uramaki but after half an hour they don't arrive. Patience is not enough, it must have been bad luck. Flip a coin before booking. Good luck.
