I had the Chef's Schnitzel with fries, and that's exactly what it was, just one schnitzel with fries, and nothing more. It tasted good, but no matter, I wouldn't necessarily order it again.

A very small, cozy inn. Finding the way by car is both an art and an adventure. Delicious breakfast and a top location, right on the market square.

The atmosphere in the beer garden was great. The service was friendly and accommodating. Opinions about the food were mixed, from total enthusiasm to slight disappointment. The beer-style beef seemed to be full of lumps of fat, and the rich, dark gravy was rather light and, well, quite thick. The chef's schnitzel was excellent, and the onion roast beef was cooked to perfection, as requested. The dark "house beer" was very tasty.

Last night, four of us spontaneously went to Greifen for dinner and were, to say the least, very disappointed. The ambiance in the beer garden was very nice, and the service friendly and prompt. But the food was very disappointing. Dumplings with sauce, with soggy dumplings and a sauce that was most likely a convenience product. The spaetzle were also good. The roast beef with onions was quite tough. The "Franconian beer meat in a strong, dark sauce" was a thick, gray mess of flour that only tasted of the bacon cubes floating around in it. Absolutely bland. The beef goulash that came with it was so marbled, and in places just lumps of fat, that it was inedible. I ended up eating only the mushy sauce. At first, I thought maybe it was just the regional cuisine and it was my fault, but after comparing several recipes and the offerings from other restaurants, I unfortunately have to say – it wasn't my fault! Plus points for the absolutely outstanding chef's schnitzel and the wonderful Marlene souflé. All in all, unfortunately, a tourist trap with overpriced convenience food. A real shame.

A truly beautiful and charming property: a traditional Bavarian house with wooden furnishings and an internal garden, with parking and, most importantly, on Rothenburg's main square. The restaurant serves excellent food, with a menu that naturally mirrors that of the beer garden. The room was a shame: it was too small and had a separate toilet from the shower and sink, not exactly comfortable under certain circumstances. But I managed to sleep well.

July 17, 2025 Strange place with strange staff. We entered, weren't greeted, even ignored, and were repeatedly not approached to order. The drinks arrived after a long time, quite a bit apart. What's so difficult about water (took 30 minutes) and beer (took 15 minutes)? We kept getting no menu, and were repeatedly told that "the water hadn't arrived yet"... so we decided to pay and leave. Of course, we didn't leave a tip. We still had to go inside for the bill. The water was probably just tap water. The water took a very long time, and we think it was quickly cooled in the freezer. Beautiful garden in the very scenic area of Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Unfortunately, you also encounter these kinds of tourist traps. A shame, a real missed opportunity for a restaurant in a prime location, just outside the hustle and bustle of the historic city center. We recommend Frankenbruzzler's Blockhaus in nearby Creglingen. We did not stay here overnight, so can't say anything about the hotel.

Yes, I can only recommend this place. It's very homely and friendly, set in a beautiful historic building, quiet yet centrally located. Lovingly furnished rooms and a fantastic breakfast.

The food and service was terrible. The waiter was rude and never checked on us. We felt like an annoyance. The food was too salty. I wish we would have eaten somewhere else. Absolutely worst meal in Germany. Ate dinner.

The picturesque town is, of course, wonderful, and the hotel's location is truly fantastic. Finding the parking lot behind the hotel is a bit of a challenge, but the staff member on duty was very helpful. The room we booked was very spacious and clean. The only drawback was the frequent chiming of the church bells...

I can only say one thing about the restaurant: Nice service, very old-fashioned restaurant, unloving, greasy food! I had two "vegetable cakes" that looked like thick, fried croquettes, with a dollop of greasy "wild garlic curd" (wild garlic quark), rounded off with a small, very simple, and soggy salad. It was, quite honestly, beyond bad! Tourist trap!

A beautiful, quiet house. Good food and service. A nice touch: dogs are welcome. Location close to the historic market square. The access to the parking lot takes some getting used to. Recommended.

A great and central hotel The rooms are top-notch and extremely quiet. The generous breakfast is fantastic. Plentiful, and every wish is fulfilled. For example, the boiled egg is only cooked to order, so it doesn't sit on a buffet for ages. The entire team knows how to anticipate guests' wishes before they even speak them.

The service was great, but unfortunately the food wasn't that tasty. I had the beer goulash and my wife had the vegan rösti. The food wasn't fresh and tasted like ready-made food. What a shame.

Our stay was simply fantastic! Parking is available at the hotel. The receptionist was very nice, and the room was nice and clean. While the room has a medieval feel, in keeping with the building, the bathroom is modern. The breakfast is more than plentiful, fresh, and delicious. I highly recommend the hotel.

I haven't stayed there but had a meal in the restaurant. Food quality and taste were very bad and didn't worth the price. Also one of the waiters was very rude.

We stopped there for lunch as part of a day trip. The service was friendly and the food was really good—nothing to complain about. Unfortunately, the final impression was significantly tarnished: When paying, we were practically cheated. Instead of the single glass we ordered, the bill suddenly included four glasses, or rather, an entire bottle. That leaves a very bitter aftertaste, and we certainly won't be coming back. It's a shame, because the food would have been enough for a positive review.

My review is about the restaurant. We've been going to the Greifen for several years when we're in Rothenburg. So far, we've always had good food. Unfortunately, that has changed; last Saturday it happened again. I ordered Franconian beer-style meat. Without the bacon cubes, it would have almost been a vegetarian dish. That's how you lose customers. It's worth mentioning that the service staff were all friendly and helpful!

You can sit comfortably and enjoy a drink, but the small portion of salmon with lots of potatoes in a floury sauce was completely overpriced for the taste experience...

My conclusion: I would never go there again. I found the food bad and the prices too high. We went to the restaurant, and it was the worst restaurant experience we've ever had in our lives. The portions were tiny, and the prices were way too high. The liver dumpling soup was the worst I've ever eaten. The Schäuferle (pork shoulder) was dry, tiny, expensive, and didn't even come with any vegetables. The dumplings looked like they were convenience dumplings, but I don't know. The rest of the dishes were also below average. When we asked the waiter about it, they offered to bring us something else, but we had no interest in any more bad food. The waiter passed on our constructive feedback to the kitchen, and the chef complained loudly that what we were saying was nonsense and our dissatisfaction was unfounded. Unfortunately, his words were somewhat irritated. The most unpleasant thing was that we overheard everything. Because we were so hungry, we ate most of it, but also left some of it back and ate our fill elsewhere.

We went here for dinner and some beers on a warm and sunny May evening, we dined in the biergarten and it was very gemütlich. The food was delicious and the portions were huge. I had the Rinder Gulasch with mashed potatoes and red cabbage. My wife had an enormous Turkey schnitzel with spätzle. The server was very friendly, he made sure that we stayed hydrated. The hotel part looked cozy and we will give that a try next time.

The location couldn't be better. The staff is super friendly. The food is good. The drinks selection is excellent. The rooms are fine, but the beds could use some updating (they creak quite a bit). A guest refrigerator (for drinks) would also be desirable.

Last night I had the worst slice of apfelstrudel of my life, balanced by a good main course...so my 3 out of 3 stars rating.

- Good selection of dishes, also for vegetarians - I think the price/performance ratio of the dishes is okay - I would give it four stars - Location is also very good - Service was good, food arrived quickly - initially, I would have given it four stars. However, after the meal, the plates weren't cleared away for a long time, and those who wanted to order dessert couldn't do so due to time constraints. This can happen when it's busy, but some of the waiters were standing around chatting. I had to step forward and interrupt their conversation so they could pay. Then there was a bit of a temper tantrum because we wanted to pay separately. I would have understood that if it had been busy, but it wasn't. Hence, only 3 stars overall.

Had a lovely stay here, including one of the best breakfasts I have had at a hotel. The property is perfectly located right next to the beautiful market square, yet the rooms are very quiet. The hotel dog is also adorable!

Nice staff. We sat in the cozy beer garden. The scoop was good, the dumplings were ok (the incorporated herbs were very prominent). However, for the price you could expect a supplement.

On Monday evening we ended up in the golden griffin by chance. The friendly waiter gave us the last two free seats, all others were occupied or reserved. Ate the chef schnitzel and the pollack in dill sauce. You can't complain about the portion size or the taste. Both meals were very good. Simply decent Franconian cuisine. Side salad - each type was fresh and individually dressed - super good. Service staff very friendly and always with a laugh. The chef is how you imagine a German chef, huge, laughing and with a small tummy. Look into the kitchen - everything is sparkling clean and shiny. When we are back in Rothenburg, we will only eat at the Goldener Greif. Thanks for the nice evening.

As for the restaurant. Were initially ignored by the waitress, there were three of us in a full beer garden. Others who came quite a bit later were already eating when we got ours. I had Franconian beer meat, a kind of goulash. Spaetzle cold, meat tough, lukewarm and little to no seasoning. If I hadn't been so hungry we would have left. The waitress acknowledged the complaint without a face. 1 star is even too much. Never again!!!

Own parking space in the rear area with the “old cellar” entrance Which is very advantageous if you are traveling in the city center. Nine euros per day fee. That's really fine. The rooms are quite nice and moderate. The breakfast was very good and the service is excellent. We felt very comfortable.

Siamo stati a cena in questo ristorante dopo aver letto le recensioni positive. Il cibo era assolutamente mediocre e il personale poco accogliente. Nonostante avessi prenotato con settimane di anticipo alle 19.30 abbiamo avuto il tempo di ordinare solo un piatto, visto che alle 20.30 siamo stati cacciati dal ristorante perché stava chiudendo, senza poter concludere la cena. Alla richiesta di poter ordinare il dolce ci è stato comunicato che la cucina era chiusa, nonostante non fosse necessario nessun tipo di preparazione. Consiglio al locale di non accettare prenotazioni se devono cacciare i clienti a metà cena. Ci siamo trovati male, e siamo stati trattati in maniera scortese. Non consiglio questo ristorante, ci sono locali che meritano di più.

Their breakfast is the most amazing part. They first bring tray of meats, cheese and bread. Coffee is served in a crafe. Then they ask how you want your eggs. Unbelievable!!! Rooms are very clean and modern. Bathroom is also very new! Can't say enough good things about this place.

Beautiful old building, modern clean rooms! Only the shower head should be replaced. Great central location and parking in the backyard. The food in the restaurant has something of a system gastronomy feel to it. Maybe “regional cuisine” for tourists, but okay for locals. Schnitzel breading is softened and the potato salad tastes like industrial goods. The onion roast was medium but a bit small. The sauce and spaetzle didn't seem homemade either, but they were of good quality. Even though we were hotel guests, a reservation was not possible. (Booking time: during Reitelesmarkt) However, we got a table around 5:45 p.m. Service was good and attentive.

Nice restaurant with delicious food (ham spaetzle with egg and a salad). Friendly staff. We had to wait (only) a few minutes for a table as it was very busy. The table was a bit drafty because it was right next to the entrance gate.

Nice restaurant at the hotel, next to the market square. Nice looking interior, cozy rooms. All this is in an old house, on the second floor in one of the rooms there is something like a mini-museum. The choice of food is not large, but there is a choice, mainly German cuisine. They cook slowly, but quite well. The waiters are friendly and efficient.

Today we visited the Hotel-Gasthof Goldener Greifen restaurant with my family (our opinion refers exclusively to the food, service and drinks). My husband ordered Schäufele, I ordered Wiener Schnitzel, and our 3-year-old son ordered Spätzle. The Schäufele was nothing special, the sauce had a good color, but the taste was bland. The herb was inedible and the bay leaf had not been removed! Any respectable chef does something like that! Such traditional restaurants should maintain the standard of their food. The schnitzel was a disaster to say the least! It was spoiled and fried in fat that was apparently also used to cook fish 🐟. I have an intolerance to fish! This is unacceptable to me! Please inform your guests in advance if you do something like this! Do you know that there are people who are allergic to fish? Our son only tried the spaetzle and then rejected it. We tried them too, but they were bland and overcooked. We reported the discrepancy and were offered a dessert of our choice as compensation if we wanted. However, we didn't want to wait any longer and left the restaurant. The service was somewhat OK, but the wait was way too long even though it was 2 p.m. All the tables around us had long since finished eating while we were still waiting... It was frustrating waiting for something that doesn't take long, especially when it's just a schnitzel that needs to be fried. The drinks were only served cold and are unsuitable for children. Also, while walking we saw that there were toys for children and we wondered why our son wasn't allowed to play with them even though we waited almost an hour for three dishes? For the second time we were disappointed with the restaurants in this city. It was very unpleasant to find that the quality of the food was not maintained. It seems that neither the food nor the guests are respected when spoiled food is served. We do not recommend this restaurant!

Rustikal eingerichtetes Restaurant (urige Speisegaststätte). Die Speisen waren bayerisch und regional bezogen. Haben sehr gut geschmeckt.

We looked around the city and were looking forward to having something to eat in the restaurant after the excursion. We chose the Greif because of the good reviews. When we asked whether there was still a free table, we were told by the waiter that the tables had all been reserved an hour later. We couldn't order certain dishes because it would take too long. It was okay for us because we were pretty hungry too. We were then seated and the drink order was taken and brought straight away. But then we waited in the manageable hallway for a good half an hour without being able to order food. We were completely ignored and finally decided to go to another restaurant. Only when we got up and got dressed did a waitress come back and ask if everything was okay. Guests who showed up after us and also without reservations got something pretty quickly. Such treatment is incomprehensible to us. We will refrain from another visit.

Great hotel in the heart of Rothenburg o.d.T.

The Hotel-Gasthof Goldener Greifen in Rothenburg od der Tauber, Germany, is highly recommended. This is a beautiful old hotel just off the main square in the old town section of Rothenburg. Viewing the art and architecture inside this hotel is as interesting as in any other part of the town. The hotel’s staff are friendly. Everyone we met spoke English very well. Wear your hiking boots when you visit. There were a lot of steps to our third floor room. A. Lot. of steps. The beautiful decor and old woodwork made up for that. Our room was spacious. It easily slept four adults. The toilet was in a small room without an exhaust fan but with a window high up on a wall and difficult to reach. Plan the order of your visits accordingly. The separate bathroom area was large with a big walk-in shower. Be careful - the floor was very slick when wet! There is no air conditioning in the rooms, but opening the windows and turning on the oscillating fan gave us a great night's sleep on a warm July evening. It helped that it rained. The beds are super comfortable with firm mattresses. I do not remember if breakfast was complimentary or if we paid for it when we booked online. The food was good. Don't expect crisp American bacon! It was tasty, lower sodium, and quite wiggly. We checked out of our room in the morning, and the hotel staff allowed us to store our bags in a hidden room while we explored the town until it was time to catch our train. This is not related to the hotel, but if you're visiting the town, you're crazy if you don't go on the Night Watch Tour. It is fantastic, and well worth the 9 euro per person you'll spend for the English version. Ask at the front desk and they’ll tell you about it.

We booked the family room with two double beds for two nights. The historic hotel is incredibly beautiful and decorated with love. Our room was really big and very comfortable, we also liked the beautiful bathroom. Everything was super clean and well maintained. We also enjoyed breakfast, everything was there and even freshly prepared eggs as requested. The location is perfect. Getting there and parking in the yard were super easy. It couldn't have been better. We can absolutely recommend this beautiful hotel with very friendly staff.

Restaurant only review: fantastic place for lunch/dinner in Rothenburg. Very friendly staff and wonderful food. We tried, amongo others, the schnitzel filled with cheese and was delicious. Their soups and creams are also great. We repeated here.

Restaurant only: Unfortunately, the good reviews are confusing. Unfortunately the food wasn't tasty at all. The schnitzel was baked in old fat that smelled like fish (probably from pangasius fillet). Overall, everything tasted like a deep fryer. The side dishes were ready-made products. No love. The service was okay just not very attentive. Overall, the shop probably remained in the 80s, like many restaurants here in Rothenburg. Thanks to the tourists it probably still works.

I can't say anything about the rooms in the inn. However, the restaurant can be recommended. Even if the restaurant is a little old. The Schäufele are particularly delicious here. These are relatively large and fall off the bone. If we are in the area again, we will definitely stop by Inntal again.

Top in Rothenburg ob der Tauber Are you making an overnight stop in Rothenburg on your journey to or from the south and want to have a delicious and cozy meal in the evening? My wife and I recommend: Hotel-Gasthof “Goldener Greifen”. Nine days ago, an extremely friendly and attentive service gave us an evening that we had never expected in an inn so close to the flood of tourists in Rothenburg's town hall market. The Greifen Dunkel, 0.5 l for €3.30, was malty and tasty and came at the right drinking temperature. With the goulash soup, not only the pot but also the contents were hot and tasted “spicy but not too spicy”. The beer beef melted in your mouth and the extraordinarily tasty beer sauce harmonized perfectly with the side dish spaetzle; a pleasure, also because the kitchen had served up a resolute portion. The selected back steak, which my wife ordered, was tender and juicy, the side fried potatoes were crispy as desired and not too fatty. Both went well with a very tasty beer sauce, which had a different flavor than my dish. Here the chef had shown imagination and good taste. And he loves his work. You could see this on his face. Plum, plum liqueur and sloe spirit at room temperature rounded off this excellent stay. Delicious... Been there in December 2023. All dishes as described above. Highlight: Sweden mug.

The location is perfect for sightseeing, as it is close to the city hall. The room was clean and spacious, and we didn't have to worry about bedbugs, which have recently become a hot topic in Europe. We had dinner at the attached restaurant, which is perfect if you're looking for a Bavarian-style meal. However, because it has a strong salty taste (this applies to all German cuisine), it is not suitable for those who are looking for the original taste of the ingredients. The breakfast was plentiful and there was more bread than I could finish. In Europe, this kind of breakfast is enough, but I want to eat everything like I do at Japanese hotels and inns! ! It may not be enough for some people. Japan is too good at this. I think the price is reasonable for one night, including breakfast, given its location in the old town. By the way, when I came back from a walk in the morning and was about to head to the breakfast venue, I noticed that this was the dog kept at the Gasthof. I was yelled at and forced to pass.

The service was super friendly and helpful - both for the wine and the food - which I also told the waiter (in words and a tip) KEEP IT UP... I WOULD COME AGAIN

RUINED SCHNITZEL. Their courtyard 'biergarten' looks nice and the wine is not expensive, but that's about it. The schnitzel we were served smelled and was clearly out of date. We therefore sent it back. Other than taking it off the bill, we saw no compensation for the unpleasant experience. Instead, we were then completely ignored after we complained. Our advice is to definitely walk past it.

We hebben er gegeten. Hoewel de de locatie er leuk zag (binnenplaats - biergarten) raden we af om er te eten. De Wiener schnitzel was duidelijk over datum en niet te eten. Hij stonk. Die hebben we dus ook teruggestuurd. Behalve een stornering zat er verder geen tegemoetkoming in voor de onaangename ervaring. Verder werden we na ons beklag min of meer genegeerd door het personeel. Dus loop hier liever voorbij.

Beautiful terrace but that's all. Very bad food for a high price. You have to order an extra salad, it costs no less than 5.60 extra for a small bowl of soggy salad. Schnitzel seems to come from the fryer: yuck. Fries fine. Service very unfriendly. Never again

The wild boar salad was maybe the worst dish I ever had. The snitzel was over cooked. Very nice place to sit though.

A beautiful place in a 15th-century building, in the very center of the old town. Delicious food in the restaurant. Very nice service. Beautiful town.

There is also a hotel with a medieval feel. The room is very comfortable. There is no air conditioning, but if you open the windows for a few nights, it will not get too hot at night. The location is near the center of the town.

We stayed here for two nights in this beautiful, historic inn. The rooms are quaint and very well maintained with a clean bathroom. Only the breakfast is a bit stuck in the eighties. But it was enough to fill me up in the morning. Dinner in the restaurant was great. Addendum July 25, 2024: After two years we were back in control. The food in the restaurant now has very little to do with Franconian cuisine; convenience and deep fryers predominate. The service does its job, nothing more. Tone sometimes inappropriate. A pity! We won't be coming back. The rooms themselves are still well maintained and the bathroom is clean.

We went here for dinner at the restaurant at the end of a day trip. The food (Schäufele, Kässpätzle & Wiener Schnitzel) was very good to good. My query about allergies was answered in detail and competently. Food was at the table relatively quickly. Service top! Small points of criticism: Unfortunately, we didn't find it very comfortable in the beer garden, but even more so inside. The side salad could be a little better. All in all very good, especially for a Friday evening and a full house! Despite small things, 5 stars and recommendation!

Perfect location in the middle of the old town, parking right behind the house, nice beer garden, food very tasty in the evening, old house with history, rooms very clean, but not particularly comfortable. Breakfast was rich, scrambled eggs were very fluffy. I would leave out the pre-packaged small packs, they are no longer up to date. It's better to just have fresh things. Completely enough.

Obwohl wir gefragt hatten, bevor wir uns am einen freien Tisch gesetzt haben, wurden wir von der Bedienung mehrfach übersehen. Kurz bevor wir wieder gehen wollten, erbarmte sich der Chef und nahm unsere Bestellung auf. Das Chef-Schnitzel war eher mittelmäßig. Die angeblich tolle Meerettich-Senf Panade und die offensichtlichen Spritz -Pommes waren nicht lecker. Interessant schmeckte alles nur nach Fritteuse. Die Schinken-Spätzle waren nur lauwarm, nicht wirklich gebraten und mit wenig Geschmack. Lichtblick war das dunkle Bier.

This is a review of the restaurant only. My husband and I had dinner at the Goldener Greifen on May 19. We had studied the menu in advance, and the selections were exactly what we were looking for. We were not disappointed! We had made reservations and were promptly seated. We really liked the atmosphere in the restaurant. My husband ordered the Greifendunkel beer which is a dark beer. He liked it a lot! For an appetizer, I ordered the Gulaschsuppe which was perfect. I ordered the pair of Frankische Bratwurst with salted potatoes. My husband ordered the pork schnitzel filled with Camembert and ham. For dessert my husband had the Apfelstrudel with vanilla sauce, and I had the Schokoladensouffle a la Marlene which was a warm, small cake with a chocolate filling. The dessert presentation was beautiful. The service was excellent! I highly recommend this restaurant, and we will eat there again when we return to Rothenburg. The location of the restaurant is right of the main square.

Good food, cozy atmosphere but Way to Long waiting time to get the food and to pay ( full House on the day), but could have Been faster to improve the experience

***This is a review of the restaurant only*** We're on vacation and wanted some traditional German fare before we left the city. This was one of the few locations open on a Monday. We started off with the potato soup, which was really good. Texture was a little mushy, which is fine, and the seasoning was pretty spot on. I had the weiner schnitzel, and my wife had the sausages. The sausages were seasoned perfectly and cooked with a great sear. The schnitzel was seasoned well, but the breading didn't have the desired consistency, nor did it want to stick to the pork. It was good, just not great. The fries were cooked very well, though. Service was really good considering how busy they were. I did see what the pork shoulder looked like, and if we were to go back, I'd probably get that over the schnitzel.

É um lugar icônico na cidade, hotel com restaurante. 1408. Os restaurantes geralmente apontados no TRIPADVISOR são muito procurados e nem sempre se consegue uma refeição sem reserva. Aqui não aconteceu isso. Restaurante tradicional, bem próxima ao centro da cidade, com decoração tradicionalista alemã baveriana e rústica. Estamos no mes do Natal então há pinheirinhos, soldados do Quebra Nozes, bolas de vidro coloridas. O cardápio tem a tradução alemã - ingles, só não se arrisque perguntar particularidades pois vai confundir tudo! Mas a comida é saborosa desde a sopa de abobora até os pratos com carne de porco com batats fritas. Foi o que escolhemos. Claro que teve cerveja local.

Unfortunately the food was very bad. The dumplings were really too salty. The chanterelle sauce thickened so much that it was more like pudding. The chef's style schnitzel was edible, but also way too salty in my opinion. Fries were good. The sauce for the spaetzle probably came from a bag... all in all, I wouldn't come back. At least the dish with dumplings and chanterelles was taken back without complaint. 2 stars for that.

My wife and I dropped in for dinner whilst out exploring Rothenburg. We opted to eat inside although there was a bier garden to the rear of the property. The service was quick and efficient and the food was well cooked and tasty and plenty of it .Good varied menu to choose from with all the traditional German fayre. The bier was vry good too with lots to choose from. Prices very reasonable. We would go there again when in Rothenburg.

The location is right on the corner of the huge town square, right on the way for us. In Franconia you have to eat a Schäuferle and that's why we came here.

Vi var tre i sällskapet som beställde olika huvudrätter, dryck och desserter. Servicen var dålig (långsam och beställningar glömdes bort). Maten var ok.

Unfortunately, shortly before 8 p.m. you have the feeling that you are no longer wanted. Everything is cleared away, you are no longer asked if you would like anything else and your hotel guests are only reluctantly given a beer in the beer garden. Until then we were completely satisfied.

We had dinner at the inn. Finally there wasn't just SchniPo there. We ordered the good home cooking there and it was very tasty. Reasonably priced. The staff was friendly and helpful.

The location of this hotel is stunning - one step out and you're on the main square! The building itself is like a small museum be it exteriors or the interior, it's just perfectly beautiful 14th century house. There's also a cute 9 and 3/4 room on the second floor. The staff was amazing at everything. They were extremely friendly, helpful, polite and nice. Firstly, me and my sister arrived at the city way before the check in starts and just wanted to leave our stuff at the luggage room but the we were told that we can actually check in right now. Secondly, we didn't have a kettle in the room but were welcomed to ask for hot water at the restaurant (it is on the first floor and is absolutely wonderful) which we did several evenings in a row. The restaurant staff never failed to please us - we had two meals here only because there were some restaurants that I picked months ago so didn't have to have dinner everyday at the same place, but we totally could do so at the Goldener Greifen. The breakfast is included in the price of the room and we've enjoyed every bite and sip of it. Our room was big enough for two people. It was warm even when the heating was turned off and it's a great thing in February. The mattresses and pillows were great, I had good sleep for all 4 nights we were staying here and even my bad neck wasn't hurting.

Again and again, I can't understand negative reviews. The hotel and restaurant were great. A very warm and competent welcome upon arrival. Reservation of a table for the evening is no problem. We used the waiter three times throughout the day (twice for drinks and once for dinner)😉 always polite and attentive. For dinner we had onion roast with spaetzle, absolutely delicious, the waiters, like the two times before, were always nice, polite and attentive. The breakfast and the breakfast fairy were a dream. Both thumbs up from me for your regional sausage, cheese and baked goods products. The location is great. Right in the middle, everything within walking distance. We really enjoyed our stay with you and would love to come back.

We can't share the negative reviews because we were completely satisfied, ok, the goulash soup could have been hotter, but it was tasty and spicy. The “Bert” schnitzel was very tasty and my “Chef” schnitzel with mustard and horseradish breading was also great!! They were also open to special requests and the price-performance ratio was great. We would be happy to come back. If you like my comment then please give me a 👍 (thumbs up) like!!

A very nice restaurant in the old town with a wonderful ambience, good food and very friendly staff. What more do you want

Two years ago as a hotel guest and this year only for dinner. Atmospheric romantic hotel. Will definitely come more often. Limited menu, but excellent price/quality ratio.

Was only there to eat. But I can't praise the kitchen. Especially when you want to pay, the waiter disappeared without a trace. That shouldn't be the case.

Were only at the inn to eat. Very tasty traditional cuisine. A tasty thing.

Beautiful inn with a perfect location in the center. Price performance is great. Delicious breakfast served at the table. Parking directly behind the building is available for a reasonable fee.
