Hotel Bärenstüberl in Schönau a.Königssee

We spent a week in the Bärenstüberl and never want to have this experience again. The rooms were actually fine, but the service was disastrous. When eating in the restaurant, whether breakfast or dinner, the service staff treated you as if you were totally unwanted and an uninvited guest. The food, whether half board or a la carte, was ready-made and simply never tasted good. You had to pay extra for everything, like a cappuccino. Unfortunately, we were there over New Year's Eve and were simply thrown out of the restaurant at 11.30 p.m., even though we were a large table with very well-paying guests and had asked beforehand whether it was possible to spend New Year's Eve there. I would recommend everyone to book another hotel or, if at all, only book one night. As soon as locals asked you which hotel you were in, you received looks of pity. We really didn't understand the good reviews until we were informed that there had been a change of ownership and that the new owner probably wasn't running the hotel very well.

Overall good! Rooms are large and spacious, but a bit old! Unfortunately, the indoor pool was pretty fresh, as was the rest of the hotel! Breakfast was good! But price-performance fits! Only 5 minutes drive to Königssee/Jennerbahn@

Beautifully furnished hotel with friendly staff and a perversely awesome breakfast buffet. We were warmly welcomed and are overjoyed here.

Ideal location, great and very nice staff, very clean, the kitchen is excellent! Even if rooms in the main building have not been renovated, we'd be happy to come back! Oct. 2024

The location of the hotel was really great and close to many attractions. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. It was very clean and breakfast was included. I would recommend everyone to stay here!

We only visited the restaurant in the Bärenstüberl in the evening. Down-to-earth, delicious home cooking. The hotel/restaurant is rustically furnished; not much has been renovated here in the last 40 years. But if you like exactly this traditional/rustic feel, this is the place for you. Unfortunately we didn't really feel welcome. We were certainly later at 8 p.m. (2 people..), but we had previously made a reservation by phone for around 7:50 p.m. We were there at 8:00 p.m. - the restaurant was busy - but we were still greeted visibly annoyed. We then had to wait 15 minutes until someone came to our table and our order was taken. The service afterwards was quick and "okay", but the atmosphere was not very pleasant. At 9:20 p.m. we wanted to order espresso and dessert (according to our information - from the internet, however - the kitchen was open until 10 p.m.), but we were told we were too late, both were no longer possible. It's understandable when it comes to dessert, as the kitchen apparently only stayed open until 9 p.m. However, a nice note beforehand would still have been appropriate, we weren't alone in the restaurant ;) We wouldn't come back, there are other, more hospitable restaurants.

Hello, We were there spontaneously and booked by phone. We had the deluxe room. It was very large and had a bathtub next to the shower and was advertised as having a mountain view. Unfortunately we were disappointed with the price-performance ratio compared to the other rooms. We first had to get our own view of the mountains by laboriously pushing aside/tying yellowed curtains that were connected with a safety pin. Care products? There was shower gel and hand soap hanging in the bathroom. That's it. The breakfast was ok, but not much better than what I have seen in cheaper guesthouses. Some spiders, which are not so bad and are part of such a house, but look for places where they can be better removed (directly above or on the trash can). I guess this hotel has suffered a lot during the Covid period, which is a shame. The location is great. I wish the owners the strength to make their house more attractive through little things like beautifully laid towels, a small chocolate bar on the pillow and the view of the mountains. Hotel rooms from the 80s. There were no shelves or hangers in the closet. Tub as a shower is impractical for older people. Breakfast a bit monotonous, no fruit. Dinner, okay. German staff unfortunately in short supply. Price-performance ratio doesn't fit at all.

We really liked the hotel, good location, beautiful view of the mountains, delicious breakfast. Very good and friendly staff, the room was not reserved, the girl at the reception immediately found us a free room, which was clean and comfortable. The hotel also has a good pool and sauna. I recommend it!

Traditional hotel in a quiet location. I think 10€ per person per day for a small sauna where there aren't even towels is too much, and the swimming pool is super small. Breakfast ok, but I've experienced better for €15. Service ok. Good beds and shower in a better room category. Food in the restaurant was also ok, but too expensive because the taste wasn't great and the portions weren't very big.

The room was clean and any defects mentioned were immediately looked at by the caretaker. We received a great welcome at the reception. The pool was at 29 degrees which was actually too cold for us personally. But not everyone is as cold as us. ;) From the hotel you can get anywhere you want to go in just a few minutes (Königssee, salt mine, Wimbachklamm, for example). We really liked it and we will definitely stay there again.

Anyone who books half board here is a 3rd class guest! I was there for 3 nights, Saturdays: starter broth, main course: burger with fries or dumpling with gray mushroom sauce (not fresh) or fried fish, dessert: vanilla cream with fruit / Sundays: starter broth, main course: meatballs with tomato sauce, Fish fried only on salad, dessert: vanilla cream with fruit, Mondays: starter broth, main course: burger with fries, dumpling with gray mushroom sauce (not fresh), fish fried with vegetable rice (from the bag) Dessert: vanilla cream with fruit I've never experienced anything like that, I reported that last evening and they said there had been a mistake in the kitchen during the planning... I suspect the minced meat had to go! You should arrive at half board at 6 p.m. so that there is room again until 6:30 p.m. for guests from outside who can dine on a menu. ... Since I was hiking, I usually came a little later and was then able to look at the schnitzel plates that were ordered by the guests away from home. I've never been "fobbed off" like this before and I'll definitely forego another stay.

Authentically traditional hotel with honest cuisine. We had the fireplace room on the ground floor. Very spacious with dining table and kitchenette. Everything very neat and clean. If requested, cleaning can also be carried out daily. Since the inn kitchen was right next to the room, you could hear the sounds of cooking and cleaning work until around 10 p.m. Not a problem for us but possibly an issue for families with children. The breakfast with enough choice, good filter coffee and fresh fruit. We had dinner every evening in our own inn. For me, very honest, down-to-earth and very good cuisine. For us it was perfect after a strenuous day of mountain touring. But overall, definitely not for someone who wants everything modern and new.

We were in the Bärenstüberl for the second time, this time in the historical part, it was a nice room. Of course, the room reflects the nature and area. A double bed, TV and balcony, beautiful view of the mountains. The room was rustic and beautiful. We went hiking. You can even reach everything from the hotel by bus. Bus stops in front of the door. The breakfast was sufficient and everything I would eat at home was available. The young man at the reception arranged a second pillow without any problems. I found it beautiful and as I said, the hotel reflects nature and the landscape. It's comfortable and everything was fine. There was plenty of food for everyone. Upon request, there was early cocoa for the child at no extra charge - you just have to let us know. In the evening we ate comfortably in the beer garden and chose from the menu, only having breakfast The food we booked was also plentiful and good. We'll be back. If you're not into luxury, you prefer peace and quiet and idyll, this is the perfect place to relax and enjoy peace and quiet. We come back to switching off

The two of us with our dog have been there for a week now. We had actually booked for 3 people, but at short notice we only went as a couple. The price for the dog (12€/day) was kindly waived for us. We had booked half board. The room was clean, the bathroom was newly renovated and we had a balcony. The room also had a small refrigerator with a freezer compartment including an ice cube tray. In the morning there was a rich breakfast: different types of rolls/bread, cheese, cold cuts, cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes/mozzarella, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, fried sausages, Porige, 3 different jams, butter, chocolate cream, muesli, yoghurt, fruit salad, 2 different juices. Coffee (you were allowed to take a thermos flask). Unfortunately, the dog wasn't allowed in for breakfast, but if the weather is good you can have breakfast outside. For dinner there were always 3 different menus with a starter, main course and dessert, and you could choose the main course. Unfortunately, a la carte was not possible. The food was good, the dog was allowed into the restaurant in the evening. Nice and friendly service and everyone at reception was also very friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately we didn't use the beer garden. There is a bus stop right in front of the hotel, but we didn't use it because we drove our own car. Everything was easy to reach from there, the hotel is located pretty much at the end/beginning of Schönau. All in all, a good hotel, but we weren't 100% satisfied with the half-board food because the 3 choices didn't always suit our taste. I would have liked to have eaten a steak or a pork knuckle, but this was only available a la carte and that's not understandable if you paid half board.

The family room was ok, nice bathroom, priced on the higher side. Very competent and nice concierge at the reception. The breakfast was sufficient, although the scrambled eggs were watery. The dinner was bad. The roast pork was dry and long, the bread dumplings could have killed you and the cheese spaetzle was watery and tasteless. The fried potatoes were delicious. Hotel good, restaurant bad.

Simple clean rooms. Nice hotel staff. Unfortunately, the restaurant staff came across as less friendly. Breakfast sufficient but nothing special. Restaurant food ok, but nothing more.

In general I can say that everything is great. If I want to travel to this area again, I will choose this hotel again.

I do not know where to start. It's best to go with the positives, because there is only one point. The staff! Really great! No matter what was wrong or went wrong, they always tried hard to find a solution. Except for the one gentleman in the restaurant. Now to the long negative list: My single room costs 139.00 euros!! cost the night. Very proud price, you expect a lot. I got a shabby room with a floor that wasn't laid properly and you had to be careful not to hurt your feet. The wardrobe... oh god the wardrobe... it smelled so moldy, I can't even describe it... just disgusting. You don't want to hang clothes in there. You could smell it when you opened the door to the room. Things didn't get much better in the bathroom either. The towels were so frayed that I would be ashamed to use them to clean at home. Of course I complained about this. The really great staff had 2 solutions: another, even older room or 20 euros off my room. Since we only had 2 nights left, I took the discount. Now for breakfast. This also causes my blood pressure to rise immediately. If you want something other than this untasty filter coffee, you have to pay for it.. I repeat 139 euros per night!! The selection was really nothing special and it was the same every day. On Sunday at 8 the raw ham was empty and there was simply no more.. great solution. There was no bacon, no fish, no croissants, nothing special. We wanted to have breakfast outside, but we weren't allowed to. This privilege is only reserved for guests with dogs, according to the unfriendly gentleman from the breakfast service. There were probably too many people (5) because others without dogs were allowed to eat outside. Normally I always look forward to breakfast at the hotel, but unfortunately not here at all. Now to the restaurant. Map on the homepage outdated! We first had the small salad as a starter and gave it straight back. I wouldn't even have given the salad to the rabbit, it was so rusty and old, ready for the organic bin. Also for a proud 7.30 euros. The onion sirloin roast (according to the menu) was a tough little piece of meat, but not a fillet. Went back too. As an alternative there was the schnitzel, which was ok but the fries were limp because they were half finished. Seriously, if I have a guest who has already given something back twice, then I pay special attention to making sure everything fits the third time... we're talking about fries here, every intern can do that... incredible. To mention again, the service ladies really did their best to improve the situation. The gentleman, on the other hand, just walked away and rolled his eyes...

Today a reminder of a lovely stay

Nice hotel, nice staff, detailed information was provided at reception. Swimming pool small but pleasant because we were alone. Breakfast still needs to be improved.

We were guests in Bärenstüberl for 1 week. Summarized in a few words...We are thrilled!! The staff are very friendly and helpful, convey a feeling of home, you are immediately welcome. The location is unique! Quietly located, easy to reach, parking spaces directly at the hotel. The rooms are large, bright and well furnished. Very clean! The breakfast buffet is very rich and has something for every palate. We had booked half board and had dinner in the restaurant. The map is colorfully designed. The price-performance ratio is great and for 2 people, an average of 40 euros is more than fair. We will definitely come back and definitely recommend the hotel. The Bärenstüberl is a restaurant that I can easily recommend. The service is friendly and attentive. The food was really tasty and plentiful. Definitely recommended.

Nice hotel with mountain views. It is as authentic as possible and corresponds to its location. A quiet place where you can relax and take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. An acceptable price for a hotel and delicious breakfasts. But I should also note small minuses that do not affect the overall picture of the hotel. These are large, uncomfortable pillows for sleeping. And there was no balcony in our room.

I'd highly recommend this hotel. I like everything here 😌

The hotel is very clean and the location is very nice. The rooms opened to a balcony, which I would prefer again. The environment is very beautiful, natural and green. I had the misfortune to pay but whatever...

Pulito, ottima colazione e stanze ben riscaldate e accoglienti. Piscina con acqua non molto calda. Ma nel complesso un'ottima esperienza. Consigliato!!!

Das Hotel an sich ist in Ordnung, allerdings war das Bett extrem durchgelegen so das die Nacht nicht angenehm war. Das Personal beim Frühstück und die Rezeption war sehr freundlich. Auf die Frage nach Sehenswürdigkeiten, wurde auf die vielen Broschüren und Flyer verwiesen. Beim Abendessen hatte man das Gefühl nicht gerade willkommen zu sein. Das Becken ist eher klein und nicht beheizt. Laut Beschreibung sollten Handtücher vor Ort sein, aber diese bekommt man erst per Nachfrage an der Rezeption. Vom Hotel ist alles sehr gut mit dem Auto zu erreichen.

Wir können das Hotel wärmstens empfehlen. Wir hatten einen herzlichen Empfang und selten ein so großes Familienzimmer (wir reisten als Familie mit drei Kindern). Das Frühstück war klasse. Es gab warme und kalte Speisen, frisches Obst und Gemüse und eine Auswahl an Brötchen und Brezeln. Der Pool hat das Kinderherz erfreut, die Temperatur war angenehm. Einen Stern mehr würden wir für die voll ausgestattete Küche vergeben, es ist nicht selbstverständlich, in einem Hotel eine vollständige Küche und alle Utensilien fürs spülen zu finden. Wir kommen gern wieder und bedanken uns schon jetzt für den angenehmen Aufenthalt! 5*****

Die Mitarbeiter*innen sind unfassbar nett und hilfsbereit :) Ich ernähre mich vegan und wurde direkt beim unkomplizierten Check-In informiert, dass man extra für mich ein paar Dinge organisiert hat! Kartenmaterial und Infos über gute Restaurants gabs auch frei Haus. Zum Frühstück wurde mir ein veganes Rührei angeboten, dazu gabs noch extra Brotaufstriche und Butter. Zusammen mit dem überaus üppigen und vielfätigen Buffet wurde ich dann auch mehr als satt. Super! Die Zimmer sind gut, relativ groß und gut genug ausgestattet. Besonders schick fand ich das Badezimmer. Lediglich die Lichtschalter sind verwirrend verkabelt, die richtige Lampe zu treffen war dann doch etwas schwierig. Man hätte auch gern noch mal etwas Staubsaugen dürfen. Ein kleines Highlight ist auch das Schwimmbecken im Keller. Alles in Allem ist dieses Hotel sehr zu empfehlen.

Herzlichen Dank für die wunderschönen Tage im Hotel. Alle Mitarbeiter waren sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Das Essen war sehr gut und reichlich. Sehr zu empfehlen. Ich hatte ein sehr schönes Zimmer mit Balkon und toller Aussicht, das Frühstück war sehr ausreichend und schmackhaft, die Mitarbeiter waren alle sehr nett und freundlich, besonders möchte ich die blonde Dame an der Rezeption hervorheben, die mir sehr zuvorkommend war, sehr gerne würde ich wieder kommen ,-)

Stayed for two nights. Some amenities were missing e.g. bottle opener. It wouldn't be a problem however on Wednesday the restaurant is closed which is weird for a hotel but I guess that's the norm in the area. Staff were very helpful and the view from road side facing room was excellent!!

Gute Lage, ausreichende Parkplätze für Hotelgäste, gemütliches Zimmer mit Bergblick und neu renoviertem Bad. Frühstück und Abendessen waren lecker, das Personal im Restaurant sowie an der Rezeption sehr freundlich, nett und hilfsbereit. Extra möchten wir unser Dankeschön zu Rezeptionistin Anja sagen weil sie uns geholfen hat und freundlich und nett zu uns war!

Sehr schönes und sehr hundefreundliches Hotel mit kompetenten und wirklich sehr freundlichen Mitarbeitern. Die Zimmer waren großzügig. Das Frühstück sehr vielfältig, es wurde immer wieder aufgefüllt. Auch das Abendessen ist hervorzuheben. Unserer besonderer Dank geht auch an die Mitarbeiter aus dem Restaurantbetrieb, die immer einen schönen Platz mit unserem gr0ßen Hund gefunden haben. Wir waren im Juli/August für 10 Nächte da und hatten anfangs eine Terasse. Es war vollkommen problemlos, das Zimmer gegen ein Zimmer mit Balkon zu wechseln: Hierfür noch einmal vielen lieben Dank!! Wir kommen wieder!!

Odalar küçük, internet yetersiz, ahşap bina olduğu için herkesin gürültüsü odanın içinde, yataklar gıcırdıyor, yastıklar sümük gibi, fiyatı yüksek (göl kenarındaki otellerle aynı fiyat) Bunlar olumsuz yanlarıydı. Olumlu yanları ise lokasyonu iyi, temiz, güleryüzlü ve yardımsever personel, geniş otopark imkanı.

Sehr zentral gelegen, wir waren mit dem Fahrrad schnell am Königssee und in Berchtesgaden. Der Service war super und das Essen sehr lecker. Wir empfehlen das Hotel auf jeden Fall weiter.

We spent the most pleasant period here, the suite is spacious and clean with good mountain views. The employees are helpful and hospitable, parking is also convenient. Would give it a 10/10. If you’re planning to visit this area, definitely take hotel Bärenstüberl into your consideration😀.

Wir haben vom 18.08 bis 27.08. im Bärenstüberl Urlaub gemacht - es war okay. Wir sind mit zwei Erwachsenen und drei Kindern ( 14, 10 und 6 Jahre) angereist und hatten ein Zimmer mit einem Doppelbett, einem Einzelbett und ein Sofa zum ausziehen. Unsere mittlere Tochter hat das Einzelbett und die anderen zwei haben sich das Sofa geteilt und waren nur mäßig begeistert. Das Sofa war sehr hart und kann nicht als Bett gewertet werden. Für ein oder zwei Nächte wäre es gegangen, aber nicht für den Zeitraum. Wir waren 5 Vollzahler und haben in einem Zimmer geschlafen. Wir hatten nicht einmal eine Tür zum schließen zwischen diesem Raum. Das Bad war okay, aber das Dachfenster konnte man nicht einfach so öffnen ohne zwei Personen. Der Pool war toll für unsere Kinder zum abkühlen während dieser heißen Woche. Das Frühstück könnte mehr Abwechslung vertragen, es gab jeden Tag das gleiche. Unsere Kinder frühstücken auch gerne mal was süßes wie Pfannkuchen oder Croissants. So etwas wäre schön. Aber wirklich jeden Tag das gleiche fand ich persönlich sehr langweilig und am dritten Tag war ich auch genervt davon. Vom Abendessen kann ich nichts berichten, weil es uns persönlich zu teuer war.

Waren lediglich zum Abendessen dort. Würden sehr freundlich und zügig bedient. Das Essen war hervorragend. Kommen im nächsten Urlaub in Schönau bestimmt wieder.

Das Hotel ist in die Jahre gekommen. Das Zimmer ist alt und im Bad (ohne Lüftung und Fenster) schimmeln die Fugen. Es war unerwünscht einen Tisch zu besetzen egal ob innen oder außen für einen Spieleabend obwohl viele Tische frei waren - das ist uns vorher noch nie passiert!

Schönes und vor allem hundefreundliches Hotel mit gutem Service. Die Zimmer waren etwas älter aber gepflegt und sauber. Der Service war sehr freundlich, bis auf einen Mitarbeiter im Restaurant der scheinbar keine Lust auf seinen Job hatte. Frühstücks Buffet war reichhaltig mit lokalen Wurst- und Käsewaren. Verkehrsanbindung gut mit Bushaltestelle direkt vor dem Hotel. Wir waren alles in allem zufrieden und würden hier wieder buchen.

Tolles Hotel, sehr schön gelegen. Freundliche Mitarbeiter, leckeres Essen, saubere Zimmer und ein schöner Pool. Günstig gelegen für Ausflüge jeglicher Art.

Wir waren ganz zufrieden mit dem Hotel. Das Zimmer war sehr groß und sauber. Die Möbel waren etwas älter, die Fenster sowie das Bad waren allerdings neu gemacht und modern. das Bett war bequem und der Balkon mit Bergblick war unser Highlight. Leider war das WLAN bei uns sehr instabil. Das Frühstück war rustikal. Auswahl so Mittelmäßig. Leider wurde ab 09;30 (Frühstück bis 10:00) auch nicht mehr wirklich nachgefüllt. Um 10:00 wurde dann auch das Licht im Restaurant ausgeschaltet. Wir wollten noch in Ruhe den Kaffee austrinken. Da hätte man uns gleich raus schmeißen können. Das Personal war sonst freundlich aber eher distanziert. Die Lage ist nicht so gut. Ohne Auto dauert es lange bis nach Schönau, zum Königssee und zu anderen Ausgangspunkten zum Wandern etc. Der Pool war ganz nett. Es gab eine Sauna die gegen einen 10€ Aufpreis genutzt werden konnte. Alles in allem haben wir uns ganz wohl gefühlt. Der Preis mit 160€ die Nacht fanden wir allerdings unberechtigt. Im August ist natürlich aber auch Hochsaison in der Sommerzeit. Da können die das Geld halt nehmen.

Zu den Zimmern kann ich leider nichts sagen, da wir immer nur zum Abendessen im Bärenstüberl waren. Aber das Restaurant top!!!! Sehr leckeres und reichhaltiges Essen und ein toller Service. Wir möchten uns an dieser Stelle noch mal herzlich bei der Kellnerin Maria und dem Kellner Stefan bedanken. So viel Herzenswärme!!!! Immer freundlich und sehr aufmerksam. Wir kommen gern wieder!! Lokalizacja dobra, a sam hotel wyposażony w przytulne pokoje. Śniadanka na bogato. Miły i pomocny personel

Wir waren für 3 Nächte dort und haben mit Kurtaxe 432,60 bezahlt, inkl. Frühstücksbuffet. Wir haben jeden jeden Abend im Hotel gegessen und auch Trinkgeld hinterlassen. Am Tag der Abreise wurden meine Frau und ich beim Frühstück in absolut inakzeptabler Weise vom Personal angegangen, dass wir keine Speisen mitnehmen dürften. Meine Frau wollte lediglich unsere 2 bereits angefangen Brötchen sowie eine Brezel einpacken, welche sonst vom Hotel weggeworfen worden wären. Die Frühstücksbedienung ging uns lautstark und unverschämt an als wären wir Plünderer. Es kam mit der Frau an der Rezeption noch zu einer heftigen Diskussion in deren Folge diese meiner Frau hinterher rief, "Sie solle an dem Brötchen verrecken". Der erste und letzte Besuch in diesem Haus. Offensichtlich hat man dort weder das Kosten-Nutzen-Verhältnis seiner Gäste im Blick noch sein Personal im Griff. Das Essen abends im Restaurant war gut. Der Pool hat keine Umkleiden und die Sauna ist ihr Geld nicht wert. Wer beim frühstück z. B. einen Milchkaffee haben möchte muss diesen mit 2,50 € extra bezahlen. Auch wird das Frühstück nicht aufgefüllt. Insgesamt ist der hohe Preis nicht gerechtfertigt. Die Lage ist weit ab vom Schuss. Der Aufzug benötigt dringend eine Wartung.

Ein sehr schönes Hotel. Das Essen ist sehr gut. Leider hatten wir schlechtes Wetter 😪es hat fast nur geregnet. Die Umgebung ist sehr schön und man kann, wenn das Wetter stimmt, gut wandern.

Als ich nach dem Wandern dort ein erfrischendes Bier trinken wollte, wurde mir sehr unfreundlich gegenüber reagiert, da ich nur was trinken, aber nichts essen wollte. Lieblos und mit jeder Faser deutlich machend, dass ich nicht willkommen bin, wurde ich an einen Miniplatz beim Tresen gesetzt und nicht weiter beachtet. Bei dem einen Bier ist es dann auch geblieben, da ich mich so unwohl gefühlt habe. Verstehe ich nicht, echt, wieso man so seinen Gästen gegenüber sein muss. Das bin ich aus dem Berchtesgadener Land ganz anders gewohnt und werde daher dieses Restaurant künftig meiden. Es gibt genug andere, wo man freundlich begrüßt und gerne gesehen ist, auch wenn man sich Mal nur erfrischen mag.
