No waiting time, fast friendly service, the staff was very attentive. The 3 course menu was without any problems.

I came back from a long tour and felt like a nice, juicy knuckle (25.90 euros) with a toilet. When it came I started cutting underneath, mostly just GREASE in some places it was green. By fresh I mean something else. The toilet was also bone dry. I've never had anything disgusting like that in this restaurant. The Unterstein Inn could have offered me something else like I gave everything back, but they don't come back with the guests So I won't be entering your restaurant again for soon eating that same evening I threw up, thank you very much for that 25.90 Eu. a joke

We ordered roast pork with bread dumplings and cabbage. From the meat to the dumplings and the cabbage to the pan, everything was lukewarm, like it came from a microwave that was set too short. The food went back. The chef was absolutely unreasonable.

A traditional Bavarian inn with very good cuisine and very attentive waiters. One appetizer recommendation from me is definitely the wheat beer cream soup.

Traditional guest house in Schönau am Königsee. You can get typical South German and partly Austrian dishes here. They are neatly prepared and of good size. Reservations may be useful, we were put at a larger table with another couple. No problem for everyone.

Very Bavarian atmosphere with waiters in traditional costumes. Quality and typical Bavarian cuisine. Warm atmosphere. Indoor dining in bad weather and outside in good weather with Bavarian music concert. We ate there 3 consecutive evenings and the only downside in my opinion is the desserts. They are very special.

Monday is spare ribs day. It was very good that you could put together the side dishes yourself. Very friendly waitresses.

We ate there on Wednesday August 21, 24, were very satisfied, my burger was on point, the potato side dish was great, my husband's knuckle also looked delicious, sauerkraut (which for me goes with the knuckle and dumplings) was ordered separately!! I would have liked to If I could cook for a while then it would have been really tasty 😋

Very nice restaurant with a typical Bavarian beer garden, including chestnut trees. The food was really tasty. The service was friendly and on the ball. I can only recommend it. You should make a reservation at meal time (from 6 p.m.).

Typically Bavarian atmosphere! Lots of space and high-quality seating. The service was quick and very friendly. The food we ordered was very good value for money! The meat was nice and tender and still warm when it arrived. Upon request, a supplement was changed without any problems. The waitress responded immediately to further questions and explained everything very well. Definitely worth a visit if you like typical Bavarian hearty cuisine with decent portions :)

Food tasty, but portions far too small. We then drove on to get full. And no, we don't always have to get huge portions, but that was definitely not enough. Service quite good. Ambience too.

We ate in this beautiful beer garden during our vacation. The beer garden is really big and has a lot of tables, but we had to wait a short time (about 15 minutes) because all the tables were occupied and we didn't have a reservation 😅 but the wait was worth it. The food was super tasty and the portions were very generous. The employees and the boss were all extremely friendly and attentive. Children and dogs are welcome ❤️

I can only recommend, nice staff, great quality. We ate there as tourists. Even had live music.

No opulent lunch should be enjoyed before the juicy, crispy and perfectly prepared pork knuckle. After that you need a gentian and a helicopter. We recommend. Beer is great too

We were in the beer garden with another family. Service nice and quick. Great house lemonade and delicious beers. Food was ok but not great. We've eaten much better here. Portions are also manageable in size. We would love to come back to drink beer in the beer garden.

Very nice, typical Bavarian inn. We only had a drink, but there was a lot going on and the guests also seemed to enjoy the food on offer. Unfortunately there was a closed party the next day… we'll try again later.

We celebrated our children's civil wedding at the Unterstein inn. Since we come from further away and had chosen Schönau as our desired wedding location, there were a few organizational things that had to be clarified in advance by phone and email. The flow of information worked perfectly. On the wedding day itself, a festively laid table awaited us in the Jägerstübchen with delicious food and a wide selection of drinks. The service was excellent, friendly and accommodating. We can highly recommend the Gasthaus Unterstein and will fondly remember this successful celebration.

We were there with 4 people after a long hike. Even though the beer garden was only a third full, we had to wait almost 20 minutes for a waiter. The food was then served quickly. However, the portions were unfortunately very small. Unfortunately, price/performance is not appropriate. Shank in two different sizes and prices! However, they could. We don't notice any differences here. Unfortunately not transparent. Sausage salad is more of an appetizer than a main course. Unfortunately the snack is overly expensive for this price and quantity. Sorry but we were unfortunately disappointed here. With the second drink we had to ask several times. Although the waiter often walked past our table.

We were guests in May, friendly and fast service, the food was also quite good, we only had two things to complain about. The tomato paste tasted a bit too strong in the spare ribs and the goulash and it's a shame that the cevapcici was made from sausage meat on the grill plate What was done was then baked in the deep fryer.

Can only rate the knuckle and the trout. The knuckle was definitely one of the best I've ever eaten and the price was right. The fish was very small and expensive. Service was top. It's better to reserve a table in advance. We were lucky without a reservation

It's always excellent food and very good service

We visited with a small group in July 2024 with registration. That evening was hometown night. We had great fun there. Everyone felt well looked after and we were well provided with food and drink. We all enjoyed it. After such a lovely evening, we can recommend the inn with a clear conscience.

The beer garden is very nice, but we had to wait a long time for a waiter. The food only came after an hour and was not appropriate for the price. The onion roast didn't deserve its name, and no one asked about the degree of doneness. The goulash was totally over salted. We won't be going there again.

Due to the onset of rain, most of the guests from the beer garden had to go inside. This really overwhelmed the waiters and we had to wait a long time, or the waiters kept walking past the table. It was very hectic.

Yesterday we were in this cozy beer garden after a long hiking tour. The service was friendly and attentive. However, the grill plate we ordered for €24.50 was a disgrace. 3 small pieces of meat with potato chips and two dips. After the small meal, we left the beer garden feeling hungry. What a shame!

Ich war während meines Urlauns öfters Gast im Unterstein u immer sehr zufrieden. Für mich allein aber auch in Begleitung habe ich immer einen Platz bekommen. Aber Achtung: ggf. vorab reservieren (bei Regenwetter fehlen die vielen Plätze im Biergarten). Sowohl Kellner wie Servicepersonal waren immer sehr freundlich. Die Speisekarte für meinen persönlichen Geschmack perfekt: Sowohl regionale Gerichte, aber auch vegetarische waren dabei, Preise okay. Mein Dank an den Koch u sein Team: mir hat es immer geschmeckt. Ich komme sehr gern wieder - also: Empfehlenswert. Andrea

Yesterday we had dinner at the Unterstein Inn. Never again. A knuckle that would have needed a chainsaw and a schnitzel that could have been made under hiking boots. Drinks ordered twice didn't come either.

Everything was perfect, the menu could be more Bavarian. Staff was professional, very good. Good 👍

We visited this inn 4 times during our vacation. Whether in the beer garden for the public viewing, in the hall at the Bavarian Evening or in the rustic guest room...we really enjoyed it. The staff is super friendly, traditionally dressed, the food, the drinks...everything is great. Keep it up!!!!

On Sundays at 8:30 p.m. when there is a bit of rain you want to go to the beer garden (just to drink beer) and are sent away because you are already cleaning up the beer garden (there are still guests sitting outside under the umbrellas). Only seats inside are still available, with stuffy air and terribly bad live music. Disappointing and not recommended if you don't even want to sell beer...

We were there for home evening and had a very good meal. The knuckle was excellent and we thought it was particularly great that there was also a small portion of the knuckle. The waiter was friendly and the entertainment was great.

We stayed here twice during our vacation week and it was great. The food was super tasty. At the second evening of public viewing for the European Football Championship. The service was extremely stressful, but still always friendly and attentive! Therefore full marks and we would love to come back!

We were there for the first time today. Sat in the beer garden when the weather was nice. The service was great and the food was simply amazing. A real culinary delight. Thanks for that. If we are in the area again, we would be happy to come by again.

We came to this restaurant both nights we were in town, and had the most amazing experience. Our waiter was the nicest young man and we were lucky to have him both nights in a row! I’m not sure what his name is, but he had lighter hair and he was the PERFECT waiter! The pork roast in a pan was our favorite dish. We will definitely come back to our new favorite restaurant in Germany :)

Best restaurant in the region. Very friendly service, great food options, including vegan and vegetarian (something rare in Schönau), at fair prices. On sunny days you can sit in the Biergarten. It has a diverse program with live music on several days of the week. Kitchen is open until 9:30 pm every day.

Das beste vorab, das Bier schmeckt einfach. Ist in der Region aber nicht schwer. Das Essen war leider nicht richtig warm und las sich besser als es geschmeckt hat. Leider war alles auch ein Tick zu teuer. Scheint eher ein Touriladen zu sein und kein richtiges Wirtshaus. Uns hat es leider nicht gefallen. Hätten wir auf die anderen Bewertungen mal gehört.

Great restaurant with excellent cuisine. There are classic Bavarian dishes here, but also some more modern dishes. The service was very friendly and very attentive during our visit. The beer garden is nice and there is enough space inside too.

My husband and I enjoyed a pork roast in a pan here. Of course it sounds better in Bavarian in the original. Delicately melting with crispy crusts. Delicious! The dessert curd dumplings with apricot. Irresistible. Despite the high frequency, we found a pleasantly spacious table so that the dogs could linger and relax. Tip: the homemade lemonade.

I'm thrilled with the food here. Always consistently good quality and taste on the plate. We ate here 3 times in a few days and I have to recommend it. Kaiserschmarrn is also out of this world. Service was excellent and consistently friendly and accommodating. Ambiance is very pleasant, clean, friendly and inviting.

We sat outside, it was very comfortable there. When it got colder we were given blankets. Unfortunately, much of the menu was no longer available to order, and we unfortunately heard the sentence "We don't have that anymore" more often that evening. The meat was okay, but it got cold quickly and there wasn't enough sauce. I reordered this, unfortunately I had to wait quite a long time for it and ended up going in to get the sauce myself. A pity.

We ate there for the second time in the beer garden today. My partner had the beef Untersteinburger and I had the schnitzel and we were not disappointed. The burger was excellent, the mayonnaise was homemade. The schnitzel was simply phenomenal.

It was very tasty and the staff was in a very good mood 🍻 Changing side dishes went through the kitchen without any problems 👍 Only the portion was a bit small for me...

The food was good. Unfortunately, the staff was apparently absolutely understaffed and items that were ordered never arrived. Reordering was only possible when shouted as we ran past. It's a shame, service should look different. Service was still friendly. But definitely far too few staff.

Very delicious food and quick friendly service. We ordered curry wurst, salad and roast pork in a pan with cabbage salad and bread dumpling. Everything was very tasty especially the fries that came with the curry wurst.

A nice inn to stay in with good food and drinks. The food we ordered tasted very good, the service was very quick and friendly. The location of the inn is a dream, right on the lake, unfortunately we couldn't enjoy the beautiful terrace due to the rainy weather. We would like to come again.

Beautiful beer garden, delicious goulash with tasty light beer from the Hofbräuhaus Berchtesgaden. The waitresses were very nice and attentive, even when it was busy.
