"Cash only today" is written on the door every day; you can never pay by card here. The roast pork was delicious, but not exactly cheap. The waitresses were friendly.

It's quite nice there. The price-performance ratio isn't quite right in my opinion. My Swiss sausage salad with a crusty roll was, and what am I going to eat now?

An inviting beer garden. Friendly service. A well-organized menu with predominantly Bavarian dishes. The food was very good, with just the right portions and beautifully presented. The prices were perfectly reasonable. If you're looking for a nice meal, you should check this out instead of the crowded places. Be sure to make a reservation.

We were here for dinner yesterday. The garden was lovely and the service was excellent. All the waitresses were very friendly, attentive, and quick! It was really pleasant in the nice weather. The food was good, but also quite expensive. Payment only in cash!

Just happened to pass by and stopped for a light lunch that turned in to rather more…. Lovely waitresses attended to our lack of German 🇩🇪 but we had lovely food and wine and deserts. Very reasonably priced for the location. Would recommend 😘 thank you ☺️

We were here for dinner today. It was quite delicious. We had roast pork. Unfortunately, the food wasn't very warm, and the coleslaw was a bit hard. You couldn't pay by card, which is a bit backward for such a large restaurant. Bavaria isn't really up to date in this regard.

Aufgrund der unterschiedlichen Meinungen die hier zu lesen sind waren wir zuerst ein bisschen skeptisch, wollten uns aber eine eigene Meinung bilden. Wir können uns den sehr guten Beurteilungen nur anschließen. Insbesondere das Serviceteam war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. auch was aus der Küche kam, war sehr gut und in einen Zeitrahmen der keine Wünsche offen lässt. Beeindruckend war auch die offen einzusehende Küche. Wir hatten einen sehr schönen Abend in einem schönen Ambiente und kommen bestimmt wieder. Dem gesamten Team vielen Dank dafür. Das einzige was ich vielleicht ein bisschen negativ bewerte ist dass man nur Barzahlung akzeptiert. Das ist aber nicht dem Team anzulasten, hier müssten die Eigentümer aktiv werden. Tonight at the Gasthaus Unterstein...I had pork knuckle with bread dumplings, and my wife had asparagus cordon bleu. Fantastic, great quality and outstanding service. I even ordered more of the excellent sauce. An authentic inn that I highly recommend!

It just lacked taste. Small portions that don't taste as good, but are priced like a Michelin restaurant. Service was top, friendly and attentive.

Food and service good - it's a shame that card payment is not possible (at the moment?).

Very nice beer garden, great ambience

Pork knuckle like Grandma's - crunchy on the outside, tender on the inside. The sauce? So good that I reordered them - that rarely happens! The waiter was awesome: attentive, quick, humorous and always warm. When a breastfeeding mother's cloth fell off, he was there straight away - without any fuss. He also easily entertained three or four tables without it seeming artificial. And then he’s sixty-something – I don’t have to say anything more. For me it was a perfect evening!

The food was mediocre. Hence only three stars. The price just wasn't right. And another point of criticism. No card payment possible in a holiday region. It says on the door that payment is only possible in cash today. The “today” could be deleted. Because it was there the days before and you will certainly find this sign on the door in weeks (see picture).

Food ok. They charge 80 cents for a little bit of ketchup and mayo each…

We celebrated our civil wedding there in September last year. Organization and price-performance were top. The food was delicious and the service was very friendly and accommodating. I can highly recommend!

We were on our honeymoon in Schönau and our holiday apartment was only a 2-minute walk from the inn. In 10 days we were guests 3 times and each time we had delicious food, very nice service and on Thursday evening we even had a superlative Bavarian experience for the hometown evening. Again and again!

Great local inn with lots of charm. Here you have the feeling that you are a friend as a guest. The kitchen makes you feel comfortable. You just have to go here - if you want it to taste good and be fun too.

The service is pretty bad. You sometimes sit for 2-3 hours to get a beer or a Meisterwurz. The waiters here are also really hospitable. - Aura. The food is OK but the meat is too firm. Can't recommend the inn more. There is still clearly room for improvement. I also had to wait an hour for my bill and it took a while to even pay. Well, we don't need to talk about the prices either.

It's better to go to Achos, it's better and cheaper. The food is also better, as is the hospitality

Quaint restaurant at reasonable prices...

Simply fantastic. Upon request, homemade potato chips were available instead of the parsley potatoes. The service was very friendly and nice. The Kaiserschmarren is highly recommended. We would be happy to come back here at any time and can only recommend coming here. Price-performance is also right. Simply TOP!!! Big praise and big thanks to the service

The beer garden looks very cozy but we were only inside to have a beer at around 8.30 p.m. The waiter apparently didn't like this at all, which he made clear in his tone. He cynically replied to my subsequent tip of only 20 cents with a “joy, that’s nice” - sorry, but I can’t come here anymore…

Nice restaurant with good food and very nice service. A visit is worth it.

The two of us were on a short vacation there and wanted to end our first evening. With a beer each we ordered 2 Wiener Schnitzels with parsley potatoes and cranberries. Since we wanted sauce, a gravy was ordered with it. There were about 4 potatoes (smaller ones) that were then divided and the schnitzel was simply placed on top without any care. There was neither a nicely presented plate nor a side salad. Unfortunately it wasn't full! For me there are definitely better ones in town. Unfortunately, the only thing that convinced me was the ambience with the many lights and luminaires.

We visited the restaurant in the afternoon for a quick stop in the rain. We were warmly welcomed and allowed to choose a table as there wasn't much going on. The inn is comfortably furnished. To drink we ordered a cappuccino, which was okay, and to eat we ordered an apple strudel with cream and blueberry tatschgerl. The apple strudel was served hot, the portion was sufficient and the taste was classically good, not a highlight, but not a disappointment either. The blueberry tatschgerl, on the other hand, surprised us positively with its fruity taste. Overall a nice stay.

Important: reserve!! We have enjoyed going to Unterstein often for years. Whether it's for a local evening, other events or just a "normal" evening, the staff is always on their toes and very friendly!! The food is awesome 👌🏼 Keep it up!!!

The homemade lemonade is exceptionally good and definitely worth a visit. The service is also very nice and the food combined with the draft beer is 100% worth the visit. We'll be back tomorrow👍👍

Very good and special selection, large portions, very tasty. The vegan burger was also exceptionally good. We felt comfortable.

Although we didn't pre-order, we still had no problem finding a table for three people at the best time in the evening. Service and staff very friendly and fond of children. The restaurant filled up very quickly and yet the food and dessert came very quickly and was also very tasty, the price/performance ratio was perfect here, there were good portions to fill you up. At the end, the waiter even secretly asked if our child could have a lollipop without him noticing. There was also live music that evening, just great, highly recommended.

There were three of us who ate there, the big knuckle really earned its adjective! Anyone who manages to eat these alone is really good! The price/performance ratio for the onion roast was okay.

I am a guest at the Hotel Bärenstüberl and had dinner in the Unterstein restaurant on Wednesday October 2nd, 2024. The soup was too hot. I haven't finished my soup when the waiter (a young man) has already served me schnitzel. Then I said that the soup was very hot and the waiter replied: “Better hot than cold. They had to wait a bit and then eat”. After that I was perhaps punished and waited about 30 minutes for my chocolate mousse. My table neighbors have already eaten their soups and schnitzels and received their dessert. So I find service in the Unterstein restaurant unfriendly (to me personally). It's just not pretty. Hopefully my pronunciation doesn't play a role in this situation. Because if you didn't have any pronunciation, you didn't have a problem with staff.

Visiting after the holiday season, still busy. Very hard-working and cheerful staff despite no reservation, organized a table and assigned a nice place, got great venison goulash and a rich grilled plate. Great room climate, absolutely no kitchen smells.

This was our second time in the restaurant. Both times very satisfied, requests were taken into account without compromise, the food is of very high quality. The waiting time to eat was a bit long, but you definitely have to say the place was very full! The restaurant definitely has a recommendation for us, we will be back!

Schnitzel, Viennese style, was tough. Prices way too high. We were made to wait at the entrance, even though we were seen standing there. We were there three years ago and it was much better.

No waiting time, fast friendly service, the staff was very attentive. The 3 course menu was without any problems.

I came back from a long tour and felt like a nice, juicy knuckle (25.90 euros) with a toilet. When it came I started cutting underneath, mostly just GREASE in some places it was green. By fresh I mean something else. The toilet was also bone dry. I've never had anything disgusting like that in this restaurant. The Unterstein Inn could have offered me something else like I gave everything back, but they don't come back with the guests So I won't be entering your restaurant again for soon eating that same evening I threw up, thank you very much for that 25.90 Eu. a joke

We ordered roast pork with bread dumplings and cabbage. From the meat to the dumplings and the cabbage to the pan, everything was lukewarm, like it came from a microwave that was set too short. The food went back. The chef was absolutely unreasonable.

A traditional Bavarian inn with very good cuisine and very attentive waiters. One appetizer recommendation from me is definitely the wheat beer cream soup.

Ich verstehe die schlechten Bewertungen auf dieser Seite absolut nicht. Wir kommen nun schon seit drei Jahren an den Königssee um immer wieder in den Gasthof Unterstein. In dieser Zeit haben wir noch nie ein schlechtes Essen bekommen, und wurden noch nie vom Service enttäuscht. Wir können das Lokal nur empfehlen und kommen immer wieder.

I could use a lot of words, in short, the food is very good, the service is friendly, the atmosphere is excellent. And the costumes of the staff add something to the overall picture. In short, it is definitely worth a try, you will certainly not be disappointed.

Very Bavarian atmosphere with waiters in traditional costumes. Quality and typical Bavarian cuisine. Warm atmosphere. Indoor dining in bad weather and outside in good weather with Bavarian music concert. We ate there 3 consecutive evenings and the only downside in my opinion is the desserts. They are very special.

Traditional guest house in Schönau am Königsee. You can get typical South German and partly Austrian dishes here. They are neatly prepared and of good size. Reservations may be useful, we were put at a larger table with another couple. No problem for everyone.

Monday is spare ribs day. It was very good that you could put together the side dishes yourself. Very friendly waitresses.

We ate there on Wednesday August 21, 24, were very satisfied, my burger was on point, the potato side dish was great, my husband's knuckle also looked delicious, sauerkraut (which for me goes with the knuckle and dumplings) was ordered separately!! I would have liked to If I could cook for a while then it would have been really tasty 😋
