Very nice atmosphere. Typical Bavarian dishes that are very tasty. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant is highly recommended and an absolute must.

The service is pretty bad. You sometimes sit for 2-3 hours to get a beer or a Meisterwurz. The waiters here are also really hospitable. - Aura. The food is OK but the meat is too firm. Can't recommend the inn more. There is still clearly room for improvement. I also had to wait an hour for my bill and it took a while to even pay. Well, we don't need to talk about the prices either.

Simply fantastic. Upon request, homemade potato chips were available instead of the parsley potatoes. The service was very friendly and nice. The Kaiserschmarren is highly recommended. We would be happy to come back here at any time and can only recommend coming here. Price-performance is also right. Simply TOP!!! Big praise and big thanks to the service

The beer garden looks very cozy but we were only inside to have a beer at around 8.30 p.m. The waiter apparently didn't like this at all, which he made clear in his tone. He cynically replied to my subsequent tip of only 20 cents with a “joy, that’s nice” - sorry, but I can’t come here anymore…

The two of us were on a short vacation there and wanted to end our first evening. With a beer each we ordered 2 Wiener Schnitzels with parsley potatoes and cranberries. Since we wanted sauce, a gravy was ordered with it. There were about 4 potatoes (smaller ones) that were then divided and the schnitzel was simply placed on top without any care. There was neither a nicely presented plate nor a side salad. Unfortunately it wasn't full! For me there are definitely better ones in town. Unfortunately, the only thing that convinced me was the ambience with the many lights and luminaires.

We visited the restaurant in the afternoon for a quick stop in the rain. We were warmly welcomed and allowed to choose a table as there wasn't much going on. The inn is comfortably furnished. To drink we ordered a cappuccino, which was okay, and to eat we ordered an apple strudel with cream and blueberry tatschgerl. The apple strudel was served hot, the portion was sufficient and the taste was classically good, not a highlight, but not a disappointment either. The blueberry tatschgerl, on the other hand, surprised us positively with its fruity taste. Overall a nice stay.

Great ambience, food was ok. We hoped for more. Schnitzel was a bit dry. The goulash was quite salty and the dumplings didn't seem ready yet.

Important: reserve!! We have enjoyed going to Unterstein often for years. Whether it's for a local evening, other events or just a "normal" evening, the staff is always on their toes and very friendly!! The food is awesome 👌🏼 Keep it up!!!

The homemade lemonade is exceptionally good and definitely worth a visit. The service is also very nice and the food combined with the draft beer is 100% worth the visit. We'll be back tomorrow👍👍

Very good and special selection, large portions, very tasty. The vegan burger was also exceptionally good. We felt comfortable.

Although we didn't pre-order, we still had no problem finding a table for three people at the best time in the evening. Service and staff very friendly and fond of children. The restaurant filled up very quickly and yet the food and dessert came very quickly and was also very tasty, the price/performance ratio was perfect here, there were good portions to fill you up. At the end, the waiter even secretly asked if our child could have a lollipop without him noticing. There was also live music that evening, just great, highly recommended.

There were three of us who ate there, the big knuckle really earned its adjective! Anyone who manages to eat these alone is really good! The price/performance ratio for the onion roast was okay.

I am a guest at the Hotel Bärenstüberl and had dinner in the Unterstein restaurant on Wednesday October 2nd, 2024. The soup was too hot. I haven't finished my soup when the waiter (a young man) has already served me schnitzel. Then I said that the soup was very hot and the waiter replied: “Better hot than cold. They had to wait a bit and then eat”. After that I was perhaps punished and waited about 30 minutes for my chocolate mousse. My table neighbors have already eaten their soups and schnitzels and received their dessert. So I find service in the Unterstein restaurant unfriendly (to me personally). It's just not pretty. Hopefully my pronunciation doesn't play a role in this situation. Because if you didn't have any pronunciation, you didn't have a problem with staff.

Visiting after the holiday season, still busy. Very hard-working and cheerful staff despite no reservation, organized a table and assigned a nice place, got great venison goulash and a rich grilled plate. Great room climate, absolutely no kitchen smells.

This was our second time in the restaurant. Both times very satisfied, requests were taken into account without compromise, the food is of very high quality. The waiting time to eat was a bit long, but you definitely have to say the place was very full! The restaurant definitely has a recommendation for us, we will be back!

Schnitzel, Viennese style, was tough. Prices way too high. We were made to wait at the entrance, even though we were seen standing there. We were there three years ago and it was much better.

I came back from a long tour and felt like a nice, juicy knuckle (25.90 euros) with a toilet. When it came I started cutting underneath, mostly just GREASE in some places it was green. By fresh I mean something else. The toilet was also bone dry. I've never had anything disgusting like that in this restaurant. The Unterstein Inn could have offered me something else like I gave everything back, but they don't come back with the guests So I won't be entering your restaurant again for soon eating that same evening I threw up, thank you very much for that 25.90 Eu. a joke

We ordered roast pork with bread dumplings and cabbage. From the meat to the dumplings and the cabbage to the pan, everything was lukewarm, like it came from a microwave that was set too short. The food went back. The chef was absolutely unreasonable.

A traditional Bavarian inn with very good cuisine and very attentive waiters. One appetizer recommendation from me is definitely the wheat beer cream soup.

Ich verstehe die schlechten Bewertungen auf dieser Seite absolut nicht. Wir kommen nun schon seit drei Jahren an den Königssee um immer wieder in den Gasthof Unterstein. In dieser Zeit haben wir noch nie ein schlechtes Essen bekommen, und wurden noch nie vom Service enttäuscht. Wir können das Lokal nur empfehlen und kommen immer wieder.

I could use a lot of words, in short, the food is very good, the service is friendly, the atmosphere is excellent. And the costumes of the staff add something to the overall picture. In short, it is definitely worth a try, you will certainly not be disappointed.

Traditional guest house in Schönau am Königsee. You can get typical South German and partly Austrian dishes here. They are neatly prepared and of good size. Reservations may be useful, we were put at a larger table with another couple. No problem for everyone.

Very Bavarian atmosphere with waiters in traditional costumes. Quality and typical Bavarian cuisine. Warm atmosphere. Indoor dining in bad weather and outside in good weather with Bavarian music concert. We ate there 3 consecutive evenings and the only downside in my opinion is the desserts. They are very special.

Monday is spare ribs day. It was very good that you could put together the side dishes yourself. Very friendly waitresses.

We ate there on Wednesday August 21, 24, were very satisfied, my burger was on point, the potato side dish was great, my husband's knuckle also looked delicious, sauerkraut (which for me goes with the knuckle and dumplings) was ordered separately!! Typically Bavarian atmosphere! Lots of space and high-quality seating. The service was quick and very friendly. The food we ordered was very good value for money! The meat was nice and tender and still warm when it arrived. Upon request, a supplement was changed without any problems. The waitress responded immediately to further questions and explained everything very well. Definitely worth a visit if you like typical Bavarian hearty cuisine with decent portions :)

We ate in this beautiful beer garden during our vacation. The beer garden is really big and has a lot of tables, but we had to wait a short time (about 15 minutes) because all the tables were occupied and we didn't have a reservation 😅 but the wait was worth it. The food was super tasty and the portions were very generous. The employees and the boss were all extremely friendly and attentive. Children and dogs are welcome ❤️

No opulent lunch should be enjoyed before the juicy, crispy and perfectly prepared pork knuckle. After that you need a gentian and a helicopter. We recommend. Beer is great too

We were in the beer garden with another family. Service nice and quick. Great house lemonade and delicious beers. Food was ok but not great. We've eaten much better here. Portions are also manageable in size. We would love to come back to drink beer in the beer garden.

Wenn man viel Zeit hat und es o.k. findet 1 1/4 Std. aufs Essen zu warten, kann ich dieses Restaurant gerne weiterempfehlen. Wir hatte diese Geduld irgendwann nicht mehr und wurde nach s.o. endlich mit unseren Speisen versorgt. Dies waren alle sehr gut, nur eins hat uns gestört; ich hatte eine Vorspeise und meine Frau wollte ihren Beilagensalat zusammen mit mir essen. Dies war aber lt. Kellner unmöglich, da das in der Küche nicht gehandhabt werden kann (so seine Aussage) Alles in allem, wir kommen sicher nie wieder…

We celebrated our children's civil wedding at the Unterstein inn. Since we come from further away and had chosen Schönau as our desired wedding location, there were a few organizational things that had to be clarified in advance by phone and email. The flow of information worked perfectly. On the wedding day itself, a festively laid table awaited us in the Jägerstübchen with delicious food and a wide selection of drinks. The service was excellent, friendly and accommodating. We can highly recommend the Gasthaus Unterstein and will fondly remember this successful celebration.

We were there with 4 people after a long hike. Even though the beer garden was only a third full, we had to wait almost 20 minutes for a waiter. The food was then served quickly. However, the portions were unfortunately very small. Unfortunately, price/performance is not appropriate. Shank in two different sizes and prices! However, they could. We don't notice any differences here. Unfortunately not transparent. Sausage salad is more of an appetizer than a main course. Unfortunately the snack is overly expensive for this price and quantity. Sorry but we were unfortunately disappointed here. With the second drink we had to ask several times. Although the waiter often walked past our table.

We were guests in May, friendly and fast service, the food was also quite good, we only had two things to complain about. The tomato paste tasted a bit too strong in the spare ribs and the goulash and it's a shame that the cevapcici was made from sausage meat on the grill plate What was done was then baked in the deep fryer.

Can only rate the knuckle and the trout. The knuckle was definitely one of the best I've ever eaten and the price was right. The fish was very small and expensive. Service was top. It's better to reserve a table in advance. We were lucky without a reservation

It's always excellent food and very good service

We visited with a small group in July 2024 with registration. That evening was hometown night. We had great fun there. Everyone felt well looked after and we were well provided with food and drink. We all enjoyed it. After such a lovely evening, we can recommend the inn with a clear conscience.

Due to the onset of rain, most of the guests from the beer garden had to go inside. This really overwhelmed the waiters and we had to wait a long time, or the waiters kept walking past the table. It was very hectic.

The beer garden is very nice, but we had to wait a long time for a waiter. The food only came after an hour and was not appropriate for the price. The onion roast didn't deserve its name, and no one asked about the degree of doneness. The goulash was totally over salted. We won't be going there again.

Yesterday we were in this cozy beer garden after a long hiking tour. The service was friendly and attentive. However, the grill plate we ordered for €24.50 was a disgrace. 3 small pieces of meat with potato chips and two dips. After the small meal, we left the beer garden feeling hungry. What a shame!

Ich war während meines Urlauns öfters Gast im Unterstein u immer sehr zufrieden. Für mich allein aber auch in Begleitung habe ich immer einen Platz bekommen. Aber Achtung: ggf. vorab reservieren (bei Regenwetter fehlen die vielen Plätze im Biergarten). Sowohl Kellner wie Servicepersonal waren immer sehr freundlich. Die Speisekarte für meinen persönlichen Geschmack perfekt: Sowohl regionale Gerichte, aber auch vegetarische waren dabei, Preise okay. Mein Dank an den Koch u sein Team: mir hat es immer geschmeckt. Ich komme sehr gern wieder - also: Empfehlenswert. Andrea
